• How can I use a carriage return in a HTML tooltip ?

  Hi, I'm currently adding verbose tooltips to our site, and I'd like (without having to resort to a whizz-bang jQuery plugin, I klnow there are many!) to use carriage returns to format the tooltip. To add the tip I'm using the 'title' attribute. I've looked around the usual sites and using the basic template of: <a title='Tool?Tip?On?New?Line' >link with tip</a> I've tried replacing the '?' with: <br /> &013; / &#13; \r\n Environment.NewLine (I'm using C#) Neither work.   Question: What is a good datatype to keep in session for a large collection of keys and values to frequently reference and update? Application: Updating an old .NET web app with a million pages and grids to have all the grids maintain their sort. They currently access helper code to format themselves graphically on load and on sort. I figured I could add to that code to check for a key based on the page and grid id in a collection in session to see if it has a previous expression on load. and the on sort update/add its appropriate item in the collection. • Java, How to Instance HttpCookie from a String, any convenient ways?

  Hi all, I have got a cookie string from HTTP response header like the following line: name=value; path=/; domain=.g.cn; expire=... I can parse the above line to key-value pairs, and, also it's easy to set the name and value to HttpCookie instance as this pair comes the first. But how to set the other pairs since I don't know which set-method corresponds to the name of the next name-value pair. Traverse all possible keys a cookie may contian and call the matched set-method, like below snippet? if (key.equalsIgnoreCase("path")) cookie.setPath(value); else if (key.equalsIgnoreCase("domain")) cookie.setDomain(value); That's foolish, any convenient ways? • Rails, making certain multiparameter attributes optional?

  Is there a method already part of Rails for making certain parameters option when part of a multiparameter attribute, for example say I'm prompting a user for their birthday, when saved the has may look like this: "birthday(2i)"=>"8", "birthday(3i)"=>"17", "birthday(1i)"=>"1980"}, ... But the issue arises when say I want to allow the user to just provide their month and day, making the year optional, how would this work being a datetime object, I'm assuming you can't do this as a date object... but any ideas would be helpful. • Change all instances of object to iframe for IE using Jquery

  I was wondering if it would be possible to use jquery to change all object tags on a site automatically to iframe for IE 8 and below. I would like this so that it can be xhtml 1.1 valid and not have to be double coded all the time and you would not have to focus on non-standard browsers. The data attribute would have to be changed to src, I would like frameborder="0" to be inserted, and all styles set to the object tag also set to the iframe tag. I don't want this to turn into a debate on iframes vs objects, I just thing this would be a huge time saver and would encourage proper strict xhtml coding. Thanks for any input!

• Need help on how to setup package structure and project

  I am new to Java and am making a license generator. This is my current setup. com.example.licensegenerator.client (used by the client application) :LicenseLoader (no Main method) :LicenseDownloader (no Main method) com.example.licensegenerator.server.keys (used by the server) :ProductKeyGenerator(Main method) com.example.licensegenerator.server.license (used on the server also) :LicenseGenerator(Main method) com.example.licensegenerator.lib (Shared classes between client and server) :Contants (no main) Now I have a few questions. Is it OK to have multiple Main() methods in a single project? Will I be able to compile them to different .jar files? (In this case I need two different jars for the server) Is there a better way to setup the packages? And a totally unrelated question, with exceptions, is it better to handle them right then and there or throw them and let the main method catch them all (the program cannot recover if an error occurs)

  Hi coders out there, I'm new to this. I have a (sqlite3, but with ActiveRecord it doesn't matter) table called Messages and a model called Message. I want to find all messages in database that have user_id or reciever_id equal to the object user and his attribute id (for short user.id). • Using xsl:character-map on text nodes only

  I am trying to create a generic stylesheet that can convert all Latin characters in Unicode to uppercase ASCII characters. Using <xsl:character-map> works well except for one thing: namespaces. The character map converts all of my namespaces to upper case, which I do not want. Is there a way to utilize a character map to do what I want to all the other nodes while leaving the namespaces untouched? I see the disable-output-escaping attribute might be an option, but I haven't been able to make it work.

• How can I get the name of the Lead Owner in a Lead custom formula field?

  I've got an application that reads Lead records from Salesforce via the API and I want to link the Lead Owner field to an attribute in the application. The Lead Owner field doesn't up in the list of available fields but all the custom fields do. So, my first attempt at a solution was to create a custom field that displayed the Lead Owner name. In the SF formula editor, as far as I can tell, it doesn't display the actual data field but instead displays the ID string. Which is pretty meaningless in the context that I need it for. Is there a way that we can get at the data in the object that the ID string references? I have the RED BOX but need the GREEN BOX.

• AJAX Autocomplete appears at a random vertical position, not touching the textbox

  Hi, I am using the AJAX Autocomplete extender for ASP.NET 2. Everything works fine...I am calling a webservice which gets me the values to fill the drop down with after 3 letters are typed into certain es. I have set the maxheight attribute and am using a scrollbar in case there are more entries than would fit that height. However, I notice that in some cases, the drop down appears at a random position on the screen, i.e. rather than connected to the relevant textbox, sometimes it appears with its entries above the textbox, not touching it at all. Sometimes it would have just one entry and it would appear in the middle of the screen vertically above the textbox it is associated to. Is there a reason why this is happening?

  I read a question earlier asking if there was a times method in Python, that would allow a function to be called n times in a row. Everyone suggested for _ in range(n): foo() but I wanted to try and code a different solution using a function decorator. How can I fix this?

• Class properties vs NSArray / NSDictionary

  I want a custom class object to hold data and have somehow the feeling that creating about 80 properties is not the best way of doing it. Most of the properties would be bool values, so i'm thinking about creating Arrays (keys / values) or (probably better) a NSDictionary attached to the object for holding the data. Does that make sense or should i stay with the properties? Extra: Are there general pros and cons for the different approaches? And what keywords / concepts do i have to search for to find discussions about that somehow general question? Thanks in advance

• Radio buttons + array elements

  I have a form that can be dynamically duplicated (with JS) so that the user can enter as much data as he wants. This works great for text inputs, because I just leave the name attribute the same (ending with a []) and then when the values are posted, it just returns me an array. Now I just realized that this doesn't work so well for radio buttons, because the names actually need to be unique for each set. But from the data standpoint, each set only returns one value, so retrieving the data from the POST data wouldn't be a problem, it just screws up the functionality of my form. There's no way around this, is there? I'm just screwed and I can't use arrays?

Anyway around this?

• Modern way to validate POST-data in MVC 2

  There are a lot of articles devoted to working with data in MVC, and nothing about MVC 2. So my question is: what is the proper way to handle POST-query and validate it. Assume we have 2 actions. Both of them operates over the same entity, but each action has it's own separated set of object properties that should be bound in automatic manner. For example: Action "A" should bind only "Name" property of object, taken from POST-request Action "B" should bind only "Date" property of object, taken from POST-request As far as I understand - we cannot use Bind attribute in this case. So - what are the best practices in MVC2 to handle POST-data and probably validate it.

• Can Django flush its database(s) between every unit test

  Django (1.2 beta) will reset the database(s) between every test that runs, meaning each test runs on an empty DB. However, the database(s) are not flushed. One of the effects of flushing the database is the auto_increment counters are reset. Consider a test which pulls data out of the database by primary key: class ChangeLogTest(django.test.TestCase): def test_one(self): do_something_which_creates_two_log_entries() log = LogEntry.objects.get(id=1) assert_log_entry_correct(log) log = LogEntry.objects.get(id=2) assert_log_entry_correct(log) This will pass because only two log entries were ever created. However, if another test is added to ChangeLogTest and it happens to run before test_one, the primary keys of the log entries are no longer 1 and 2, they might be 2 and 3. Now test_one fails. This is actually a two part question: Is it possible to force ./manage.py test to flush the database between each test case? Since Django doesn't flush the DB between each test by default, maybe there is a good reason. Does anyone know?

  I can't understand why in Opera and IE the following code does not work... $("#form_" + $(this).attr('id')).serialize(); I checked it by only getting the attribute; worked I checked if I could get the form data without serialize; worked How should I code this? Tried a lot of combinations and stuff but nothing works.. why does this isn't working in opera? In chrome I have no problems... To answer some of the questions below I have multiple forms on my page, each with an unique id (from_1, form_5 etc.) I checked this and is correct. The form data needs to be fetched when a select changes, so data call is fired by an change event.

  Is there any way to secure your assembly down to the class/property & class/method level to prevent the using/calling of them from another assembly that isn't signed by our company? I would like to do this without any requirements on strong naming (like using StrongNameIdentityPermission) and stick with how an assembly is signed. I really do not want to resort to using the InternalsVisibleTo attribute as that is not maintainable in a ever changing software ecosystem. For example: Scenario One Foo.dll is signed by my company and Bar.dll is not signed at all. Foo has Class A Bar has Class B Class A has public method GetSomething() Class B tries to call Foo.A.GetSomething() and is rejected Rejected can be an exception or being ignored in someway Scenario Two Foo.dll is signed by my company and Moo.dll is also signed by my company. • Why Does TFS Allow Orphaned Content and How Do I Get Rid of It?

  My TfsVersionControl database has grown to 40+ GB in size. We recently did a TFS Destroy on a folder tree that should have cleared up at least 10 GB but instead it seemed to have no effect. When I look at the tables in TfsVersionControl, I am first shocked to see that there are no foreign keys at all in the database. Running a few queries, I see that there is some orphaning going on: tbl_Content has 13.9 GB of records that don't have a related tbl_File record tbl_File and tbl_Content have 2.4 GB that don't have a related tbl_Namespace record The cleanup job seems to be running nightly (prc_DeleteUnusedContent) and running it against the database manually doesn't remove any orphans. I see in the log for the cleanup job that it failed on 3/16, which is the morning after I destroyed the large amount of data. The error was due to a full transaction log. Could that error be the reason I'm left with all this orphaned data that can't be deleted? How can I permanently destroy this unneeded content?

  I am creating a cube with the following tables: Customer CustomerID, Name Customer Rep CustomerID, RepID Rep RepID, Name The important thing here is that there is a many to many relationship between Reps and Customers. I want to be able to ask the question "How much sales for customers working with rep 'A'?" In the data source view i set up the relationships between both customerid columns and both repid columns. I set up the rep attribute in the dimension builder and when I try to build the cube I get this error: Errors in the high-level relationship engine. the 'Rep' table that is required for a join cannot be reached based on the relationships in the data source view.
