  I need to run my RMI server using the command line, my class files reside in this folder: C:\workspace\distributedhw2\AgencyServers\RmiEncodingServer\RmiServerClasses in package hw2.rmi.server The code base reside in this folder: C:\workspace\distributedhw2\AgencyServers\RmiEncodingServer\RmiServerCodeBase in package hw2.rmi.server I use the command line: java –classpath C:\workspace\distributedhw2\AgencyServers\RmiEncodingServer\RmiServerClasses\ -Djava.rmi.server.codebase=file:/C:\workspace\distributedhw2\AgencyServers\RmiEncodingServer\ Djava.security.policy=c:\HW2\permissions.policy hw2.rmi.server.RmiEncodingServer but I get a "class not found" exception as follows: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: ûclasspath Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ûclasspath at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) Could not find the main class: GÇôclasspath.   In Clojure, if I want to start a test cluster using the hbase testing utility, I have to annotate my dependencies with: [org.apache.hbase/hbase "0.92.2" :classifier "tests" :scope "test"] First of all, I have no idea what this means. According to leiningens sample project.clj ;; Dependencies are listed as [group-id/name version]; in addition ;; to keywords supported by Pomegranate, you can use :native-prefix ;; to specify a prefix. This prefix is used to extract natives in ;; jars that don't adhere to the default "<os>/<arch>/" layout that ;; Leiningen expects. Question 1: What does that mean? Question 2: If I upgrade the version: [org.apache.hbase/hbase "0.94.6.1" :classifier "tests" :scope "test"] Then I receive a ClassNotFoundException Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.hadoop.hbase.HBaseConfiguration Whats going on here and how do I fix it?

• Can I use UIPerformance grails plugin and host my static resources in another domain?

  The UIPerfomance plugin is an easy way to speed up your web pages by applying some of the best practices rules from Yahoo performance team (like minifying, setting a far-future expires header, versioned images...) Unfortunately I didn't find a way to store the static resources in a location outside of the webapplication which has his own advantages ( smaller WAR sizes, better optimize cookieless server, static resources served faster by a highly optimized native httpd, no need to redeploy WAR when updating static resources..). So my question is: is it possible to use this great plugin with static resoures stored outside the web application? And if yes, how?

• Converting a JSP to a SharePoint webpart

  We have a large number of Java based servlets/portlets running in a BEA portal that we want to convert into SharePoint 2007 webparts. Many of the portlets use user preferences but the implementations are split between preferences being handled by the portlet directly and stored in a separate database from the portal. Others are using the BEA WebLogic API for user preferences. Three questions: Has anyone gotten a Java Servlet/JSP (compiled against JRE 1.4.2 and running on Tomcat 4.1) to run as a SharePoint 2007 webpart? How large of an effort was it in general (as in, was it measured in days/weeks/months)? Would it be easier to rewrite the portlet as native webparts at least as far as user preferences are concerned?

• How can I programmatically find the IP address/netmask/gateway configured for a specific network dev

  Hi I would like to write a piece of code which checks, for each network device (e.g. eth0, lo, master devices) some statistics and configuration data about that device. I could find the statistics data (and most of the configuration data) in /sys/class/net/..., however, I couldn't find any C/C++ API or any entry in procfs/sysfs listing the inet addr, netmask and gateway. Some alternatives I checked: parsing the output from ifconfig/route/some other utilities: I don't want to start a subprocess every time I need to do the inspection. parsing /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/: will give me only the start-up configuration, and not the current state. Also, since this code is intended for a product in my workplace, where every external library is inspected thoroughly (meaning it will take me forever to add any external library) I prefer solutions which rely on Linux native API and not external libraries.   I have a couple of questions about connectivity on Android, if anyone has any insight it would be great. What is the default when an application wants to wirelessly connect? Is it wlan? And if wlan is switched off or there is no access points around is it 3g or gprs? Is a device always ip connected? Or when its disabled from wlan or 3g does it lose its ip address? Is an application, for example the browser only ever connected to one ip address? Or can it be connected to multiple addresses for each radio such as gprs or wifi (wlan)? Can an application decide which connection to open a socket to? For example can I create an application and decide whether to connect the socket to the wlan or gprs? Or does the OS decide? Finally how do native applications handle connectivity? In the same manner?

• LNK2001: What have I forgotton to set?

  Following on from my previous question regarding debugging of native code, I decided to create a simple test from a console app as I wasn't getting anywhere with debugging the service directly. So I created a vc6 console app, added the dll project to the workspace and ran it. Instead of executing as expected it spat out the following linker errors: main.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "int __stdcall hmDocumentLAdd(char *,char *,long,char *,char *,long,long,long,long *)" (?hmDocumentLAdd@@YGHPAD0J00JJJPAJ@Z) main.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "int __stdcall hmGetDocBasePath(char *,long)" (?hmGetDocBasePath@@YGHPADJ@Z) Debug/HazManTest.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 2 unresolved externals This seems to be a simple case of forgetting something in the linker options: However everything seems to be normal, and the lib file, dll and source is available. If I change the lib file to load to nonsense it kicks up the fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file "asdf.lib", so that isn't a problem. I have previously linked to dll and they have just worked, so what I have forgotton to do?

• How do I wrap a selection with an HTML tag in Visual Studio?

  This seems like the most basic question in the world, but damned if I can find an answer. Is there a keyboard shortcut, either native to Visual Studio or through Code Rush or other third-party plug-in, to wrap the current selection with an HTML tag? I'm tired of typing the opening tag, cutting the misplaced closing tag to the clipboard, moving the cursor, and pasting it at the end where it belongs. Update: This is how TextMate handles surrounding a selection with a tag. Frankly, I'm stunned that Visual Studio doesn't seem to have a similar feature. Creating a macro or snippet for every conceivable tag I might want to use seems absurd.

• How do I send a PDF in a MemoryStream to the printer in .Net?

  I have a PDF created in memory using iTextSharp and contained in a MemoryStream. I now need to translate that MemoryStream PDF into something the printer understands. I've used Report Server in the past to render the pages to the printer format but I cant use it for this project. Is there a native .Net way of doing this? For example, GhostScript would be OK if it was a .Net assembly but I don't want to bundle any non .Net stuff along with my installer. The PrintDocument class in .Net is great for sending content to the printer but I still need to translate it from a PDF stream into GDI at the page level. Any good hints? Thanks in advance Ryan

• Disk-based caching of dynamic images in IIS 7

  I'm writing an image server which needs to handle a relatively large number of concurrent requests (~5,000). The images being served are dynamically scaled down and cropped based on per-image specifications, which are queried from a database. The number of images is rather large, so an in-memory cache isn't viable (thrashing would most definitely occur). I'm using native caching in IIS 7 to avoid hitting the ASP.NET app which generates the images on-the-fly. I've looked around, but I couldn't find a simple way to configure IIS to store the cache on-disk -- is there such an option, or would I need to roll my own? I'd rather avoid placing the generated images in a public folder, so they can be served statically, since I would prefer to invalidate the cache entries using a query parameter (last-edit time from the database,) which doesn't seem possible to reconcile with static caching. I would love to get some feedback on this!

  Hi I have a web application running in cluster mode with a load balancer. It consists in two tomcats (T1, and T2) addressing only one DB. T2 is nfs mounted to T1. This is the only dofference between both nodes. I have a java method generating some files. If the request runs on T1 there is no problem but if the request is running on node 2 I get an exception as follows: java.io.IOException: Invalid argument at java.io.FileOutputStream.close0(Native Method) at java.io.FileOutputStream.close(FileOutputStream.java:279) The corresponding code is as follows: for (int i = 0; i < dataFileList.size(); i++) { outputFileName = outputFolder + fileNameList.get(i); FileOutputStream fileOut = new FileOutputStream(outputFileName); fileOut.write(dataFileList.get(i), 0, dataFileList.get(i).length); fileOut.flush(); fileOut.close(); } The exception appears at the fileOut.close() Any hint? • Java library to encode / decode AMF

  Hi chaps, I currently have a Java server that talks to a Flash client by passing JSON encoded data over a binary socket connection. Is there a way on either side to encode / decode packets as AMF instead of JSON? It seems to me that there should be some native support in Flash player for doing this? All the implementations I have found of AMF serialization seem to be embedded inside an application framework. Simiarly so, does anyone know if it's possible to decode AMF packets independently of a connection implementation in Flash?

• Skinning WinAPI Controls

  If you've ever seen an application in the Adobe Creative Suite 5 (CS5), you may have noticed that it doesn't look like the native Windows GUI.. They have modified it to have a different look to it. Where would someone begin to make an application that has a custom skin? CS5 uses the Adobe Source library for it's widget/control management, so I tried downloading and compiling the Adobe Source Library to see if I could make a nice skinned app like Photoshop CS5, but after finally getting it to compile and tested it, I realized the library was only for managing widgets and not skinning the GUI, like CS5 has. Where would I begin to make a nice skinned program like Adobe Cs5 applications? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Do I simply use the WM_PAINT Message from WinAPI and render my own widgets using openGL or something?

• spl_object_hash for PHP < 5.2 (unique ID for object instances)

  I'm trying to get unique IDs for object instances in PHP 5+. The function, spl_object_hash() is available from PHP 5.2 but I'm wondering if there's a workaround for older versions. There are a couple of functions in the comments on php.net but they're not working for me. • Drawbacks with reading and writing a big file to or from disk at once instead of small chunks?

  I work mainly on Windows and Windows CE based systems, where CreateFile, ReadFile and WriteFile are the work horses, no matter if I'm in native Win32 land or in managed .Net land. I have so far never had any obvious problem writing or reading big files in one chunk, as opposed to looping until several smaller chunks are processed. I usually delegate the IO work to a background thread that notifies me when it's done. But looking at file IO tutorials or "textbook examples", I often find the "loop with small chunks" used without any explanation of why it's used instead of the more obvious (I dare to say!) "do it all at once". Are there any drawbacks to the way I do that I haven't understood?

  In the W3C working draft for HTML5 here's a line I find confusing: http://www.w3.org/TR/html5/introduction.html#html-vs-xhtml Comments that contain the string "--" can be represented in the DOM but not in the HTML syntax or in XML. I can interpret this in two different ways: Comments that contain the string "--" can be represented in XML and in the DOM but not in the HTML syntax Comments that contain the string"--" can be represented in the DOM but neither in the HTML syntax nor in XML. I really find the original formulation highly confusing. Which one does it mean and is it even correct english? Who should I contact if I want to point out that I find such a wording highly confusing and that hence there's a high probability that other non-native english speaker would find this kind of formulation highly confusing too?

• Reinstall TeamCity when Tomcat becomes corrupt

  I've got a TeamCity 4 installation where tomcat has bit the dust with the following error "The APR Based Apache Tomcat Native library which allows for optimal performance in production environments was not found in java.library path". It appears this started happening once the JDK was installed on the server to allow for a compile. The JDK has been removed and the JRE reinstalled but still no go. My question is should I reinstall TeamCity completely or is there a way to simply reinstall tomcat so I don't hose the configuration? Your help is greatly appreciated.

  Hi, so I wanted to try my first CLR project in Visual C++. So I created console project, but since every tutorial I found about CLR programming was using C#, or windows forms, I just tried writing standart c++ Hello Word app using iostream (I think code isnt needed in this case) but I though it will give me some compile error, since iostream uses precompiled functions, and CLR app compiles into MSIL. I assumed that CLR programming using C++ means just using C++ syntax, but different functions for I/O and so. So, basicly, what I want to ask is, can any native console C++ app be compiled into MSIL and run by .NET framework?

• Difference between C++ Keyboard keycode and JAVA KeyEvent keycode

  I noticed a difference between the keycodes that vkCode in C++ gives and the ones that Java's KeyEvent gives us. (Ofcourse the normal characters have the same code (0 = 48 just like the ASCII) but they differ in the other keys). Is there a way to 'translate' them from one to the other (What's the logic behind each one?) or am I supposed to use loads of switches and IFs for that. If it helps, my app is half in C++ and half in JAVA because of the Native Hooks that c++ gives us and it gets the keycodes of the keys that the user presses and then the java is going to use them. Now I want to implement a multiply method which multiplies Matrix A with Matrix B and stores the result in Matrix C. So the code may look like this: class Matrix4f { private FloatBuffer buffer = FloatBuffer.allocate(16); public Matrix4f multiply(Matrix4f matrix2, Matrix4f result) { {{{result = this * matrix2}}} <-- I need this code return result; } } What is the fastest possible code to do this multiplication? Some OpenGL implementations (Like the OpenGL ES stuff in Android) provide native code for this but others doesn't. So I want to provide a generic multiplication method for these implementations.

• Applying style sheets in pyqt

  Hello all, If i apply a property to a parent widget it is automatically applied for child widgets too.. Is there any way of preventing this?? For example if i set background color as white in a dialog the button,combo boxes and scroll bars looks white as it lacks it native look(have to say it's unpleasant & ugly).. Is there any way that i can apply the stylesheets only to a parent widget not to it's children??? Experts help please..
