  • Synchronous communication using NSOperationQueue

    - by chip_munks
I am new to Objective C programming. I have created two threads called add and display using the NSInvocationOperation and added it on to the NSOperationQueue. I make the display thread to run first and then run the add thread. The display thread after printing the "Welcome to display" has to wait for the results to print from the add method. So i have set the waitUntilFinished method. Both the Operations are on the same queue. If i use waitUntilFinished for operations on the same queue there may be a situation for deadlock to happen(from apples developer documentation). Is it so? To wait for particular time interval there is a method called waitUntilDate: But if i need to like this wait(min(100,dmax)); let dmax = 20; How to do i wait for these conditions? It would be much helpful if anyone can explain with an example. EDITED: threadss.h ------------ #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface threadss : NSObject { BOOL m_bRunThread; int a,b,c; NSOperationQueue* queue; NSInvocationOperation* operation; NSInvocationOperation* operation1; NSConditionLock* theConditionLock; } -(void)Thread; -(void)add; -(void)display; @end threadss.m ------------ #import "threadss.h" @implementation threadss -(id)init { if (self = [super init]) { queue = [[NSOperationQueue alloc]init]; operation = [[NSInvocationOperation alloc]initWithTarget:self selector:@selector(display) object:nil]; operation1 = [[NSInvocationOperation alloc]initWithTarget:self selector:@selector(add) object:nil]; theConditionLock = [[NSConditionLock alloc]init]; } return self; } -(void)Thread { m_bRunThread = YES; //[operation addDependency:operation1]; if (m_bRunThread) { [queue addOperation:operation]; } //[operation addDependency:operation1]; [queue addOperation:operation1]; //[self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(display) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:YES]; //NSLog(@"I'm going to do the asynchronous communication btwn the threads!!"); //[self add]; //[operation addDependency:self]; sleep(1); [queue release]; [operation release]; //[operation1 release]; } -(void)add { NSLog(@"Going to add a and b!!"); a=1; b=2; c = a + b; NSLog(@"Finished adding!!"); } -(void)display { NSLog(@"Into the display method"); [operation1 waitUntilFinished]; NSLog(@"The Result is:%d",c); } @end main.m ------- #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "threadss.h" int main (int argc, const char * argv[]) { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; threadss* thread = [[threadss alloc]init]; [thread Thread]; [pool drain]; return 0; } This is what i have tried with a sample program. output 2011-06-03 19:40:47.898 threads_NSOperationQueue[3812:1503] Going to add a and b!! 2011-06-03 19:40:47.898 threads_NSOperationQueue[3812:1303] Into the display method 2011-06-03 19:40:47.902 threads_NSOperationQueue[3812:1503] Finished adding!! 2011-06-03 19:40:47.904 threads_NSOperationQueue[3812:1303] The Result is:3 Is the way of invoking the thread is correct. 1.Will there be any deadlock condition? 2.How to do wait(min(100,dmax)) where dmax = 50.

  • New way of integrating Openfeint in Cocos2d-x 0.12.0

    - by Ef Es
I am trying to implement OpenFeint for Android in my cocos2d-x project. My approach so far has been creating a button that calls a static java method in class Bridge using jnihelper functions (jnihelper only accepts statics). Bridge has one singleton attribute of type OFAndroid, that is the class dynamically calling the Openfeint Api methods, and every method in the bridge just forwards it to the OFAndroid object. What I am trying to do now is to initialize the openfeint libraries in the main java class that is the one calling the static C++ libraries. My problem right now is that the initializing function void com.openfeint.api.OpenFeint.initialize(Context ctx, OpenFeintSettings settings, OpenFeintDelegate delegate) is not accepting the context parameter that I am giving him, which is a "this" reference to the main class. Main class extends from Cocos2dxActivity but I don't have any other that extends from Application. Any suggestions on fixing it or how to improve the architecture? EDIT: I am trying a new solution. Make the bridge class into an Application child, is called from Main object, initializes OpenFeint when created and it can call the OpenFeint functions instead of needing an additional class. The problem is I still get the error. 03-30 14:39:22.661: E/AndroidRuntime(9029): Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException 03-30 14:39:22.661: E/AndroidRuntime(9029): at android.content.ContextWrapper.getPackageManager(ContextWrapper.java:85) 03-30 14:39:22.661: E/AndroidRuntime(9029): at com.openfeint.internal.OpenFeintInternal.validateManifest(OpenFeintInternal.java:885) 03-30 14:39:22.661: E/AndroidRuntime(9029): at com.openfeint.internal.OpenFeintInternal.initializeWithoutLoggingIn(OpenFeintInternal.java:829) 03-30 14:39:22.661: E/AndroidRuntime(9029): at com.openfeint.internal.OpenFeintInternal.initialize(OpenFeintInternal.java:852) 03-30 14:39:22.661: E/AndroidRuntime(9029): at com.openfeint.api.OpenFeint.initialize(OpenFeint.java:47) 03-30 14:39:22.661: E/AndroidRuntime(9029): at nurogames.fastfish.NuroFeint.onCreate(NuroFeint.java:23) 03-30 14:39:22.661: E/AndroidRuntime(9029): at nurogames.fastfish.FastFish.onCreate(FastFish.java:47) 03-30 14:39:22.661: E/AndroidRuntime(9029): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1069) 03-30 14:39:22.661: E/AndroidRuntime(9029): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2751)

  • Streaming desktop with avconv - severe sound issues

    - by Tommy Brunn
I'm trying to do some live streaming in Ubuntu 12.10, but I'm having some problems with audio. More specifically, the quality is complete garbage and it's at least 10 seconds out of sync with the video. I'm using an excellent guide found here to set up my loopback devices so that I can combine the desktop audio with the microphone input. It seems to work, as I'm able to stream both audio and video to Twitch.tv. But, as I said, the audio quality is terrible. The microphone audio is very, very low, but if I increase it, I get a horrible garbled sound that is absolutely unbearable. Nothing like that is present during VoIP calls or when recording sound alone with the sound recorder, so it's not an issue with the microphone itself. The entire audio stream is also delayed about 10-15 seconds compared to the video stream. I put together an imgur album of my settings. Here is some example output from when I'm streaming: avconv version 0.8.4-6:0.8.4-0ubuntu0.12.10.1, Copyright (c) 2000-2012 the Libav developers built on Nov 6 2012 16:51:11 with gcc 4.7.2 [x11grab @ 0x162fd80] device: :0.0+570,262 -> display: :0.0 x: 570 y: 262 width: 1280 height: 720 [x11grab @ 0x162fd80] shared memory extension found [x11grab @ 0x162fd80] Estimating duration from bitrate, this may be inaccurate Input #0, x11grab, from ':0.0+570,262': Duration: N/A, start: 1353181686.735113, bitrate: 884736 kb/s Stream #0.0: Video: rawvideo, bgra, 1280x720, 884736 kb/s, 30 tbr, 1000k tbn, 30 tbc [alsa @ 0x163fce0] capture with some ALSA plugins, especially dsnoop, may hang. Section=ResponseStatusLine".   After a few web searches, I found a couple of suggestions – one of which said the problem could be fixed by changing the HttpWebRequest ProtocolVersion to 1.0 with the command: 1: HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create(strURI); 2: req.ProtocolVersion = HttpVersion.Version10;   …but that did not work in my particular case.   What DID work was the next suggestion I found that suggested the use of the setting: “useUnsafeHeaderParsing” either in the app.config file or programmatically. If added to the app.config, it would be: 1: <!-- after the applicationSettings --> 2: <system.net> 3: <settings> 4: <httpWebRequest useUnsafeHeaderParsing ="true"/> 5: </settings> 6: </system.net>   If done programmatically, it would look like this: C++: 1: // UUHP_CPP.h 2: #pragma once 3: using namespace System; 4: using namespace System::Reflection; 5:   6: namespace UUHP_CPP 7: { 8: public ref class CUUHP_CPP 9: { 10: public: 11: static bool UseUnsafeHeaderParsing(String^% strError) 12: { 13: Assembly^ assembly = Assembly::GetAssembly(System::Net::Configuration::SettingsSection::typeid); 21: if (nullptr==type) 22: { 23: strError = "Could not access internal settings"; 24: return false; 25: } 26:   27: Object^ obj = type->InvokeMember("Section", 28: BindingFlags::Static | BindingFlags::GetProperty | BindingFlags::NonPublic, 29: nullptr, nullptr, gcnew array<Object^,1>(0)); • Wireless Connected But No Internet Connection (Ubuntu 12.04)

    - by Zxy
I am using same network for 2 days and everything was normal. However, today even though it shows me as connected to the network, I do not have internet connection. If I use ethernet cable instead of wireless, I am still able to connect to the internet. Also my friends are able to connect to the wireless network and they can get internet connection. I did not update or install anything since yesterday. Therefore I do not have any idea why it is happening. Here is some information about my connection: I will be appreciate to any kind of help. root@ghostrider:/etc/resolvconf# ping 127.0.0.1 PING 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_req=1 ttl=64 time=0.042 ms 64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_req=2 ttl=64 time=0.023 ms 64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_req=3 ttl=64 time=0.036 ms 64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_req=4 ttl=64 time=0.040 ms ^C --- 127.0.0.1 ping statistics --- 4 packets transmitted, 4 received, 0% packet loss, time 2998ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.023/0.035/0.042/0.008 ms root@ghostrider:/etc/resolvconf# ping 192.168.1.3 PING 192.168.1.3 (192.168.1.3) 56(84) bytes of data. ^C --- 192.168.1.3 ping statistics --- 19 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 18143ms root@ghostrider:/etc/resolvconf# ping 8.8.8.8 PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8) 56(84) bytes of data. ^C --- 8.8.8.8 ping statistics --- 11 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 10079ms root@ghostrider:/etc/resolvconf# cat /etc/lsb-release; uname -a DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=12.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=precise DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 12.04 LTS" Linux ghostrider 3.2.0-24-generic-pae #39-Ubuntu SMP Mon May 21 18:54:21 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux root@ghostrider:/etc/resolvconf# lspci -nnk | grep -iA2 net 03:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Atheros Communications Inc. • Root certificate authority works windows/linux but not mac osx - (malformed)

    - by AKwhat
I have created a self-signed root certificate authority which if I install onto windows, linux, or even using the certificate store in firefox (windows/linux/macosx) will work perfectly with my terminating proxy. I have installed it into the system keychain and I have set the certificate to always trust. Within the chrome browser details it says "The certificate that Chrome received during this connection attempt is not formatted correctly, so Chrome cannot use it to protect your information. Error type: Malformed certificate" I used this code to create the certificate: openssl genrsa -des3 -passout pass:***** -out private/server.key 4096 openssl req -batch -passin pass:***** -new -x509 -nodes -sha1 -days 3600 -key private/server.key -out server.crt -config ../openssl.cnf If the issue is NOT that it is malformed (because it works everywhere else) then what else could it be? Am I installing it incorrectly? To be clear: Within the windows/linux OS, all browsers work perfectly. Within mac only firefox works if it uses its internal certificate store and not the keychain. It's the keychain method of importing a certificate that causes the issue. Thus, all browsers using the keychain will not work. • BizTalk server problem

    - by WtFudgE
Hi, we have a biztalk server (a virtual one (1!)...) at our company, and an sql server where the data is being kept. Now we have a lot of data traffic. I'm talking about hundred of thousands. So I'm actually not even sure if one server is pretty safe, but our company is not that easy to convince. Now recently we have a lot of problems. Allow me to situate in detail, so I'm not missing anything: Our server has 5 applications: One with 3 orchestrations, 12 send ports, 16 receive locations. One with 4 orchestrations, 32 send ports, 20 receive locations. One with 4 orchestrations, 24 send ports, 20 receive locations. One with 47 (yes 47) orchestrations, 37 send ports, 6 receive locations. One with common application with a couple of resources. Our problems have occured since we deployed the applications with the 47 orchestrations. A lot of these orchestrations use assign shapes which use c# code to do the mapping. This is because we use HL7 extensions and this is kind of special, so by using c# code & xpath it was a lot easier to do the mapping because a lot of these schema's look alike. The c# reads in XmlNodes received through xpath, and returns XmlNode which are then assigned again to biztalk messages. I'm not sure if this could be the cause, but I thought I'd mention it. The send and receive ports have a lot of different types: File, MQSeries, SQL, MLLP, FTP. Each of these types have a different host instances, to balance out the load. Our orchestrations use the BiztalkApplication host. On this server also a couple of scripts are running, mostly ftp upload scripts & also a zipper script, which zips files every half an hour in a daily zip and deletes the zip files after a month. We use this zipscript on our backup files (we backup a lot, backups are also on our server), we did this because the server had problems with sending files to a location where there were a lot (A LOT) of files, so after the files were reduced to zips it went better. Now the problems we are having recently are mainly two major problems: Our most important problem is the following. We kept a receive location with a lot of messages on a queue for testing. After we start this receive location which uses the 47 orchestrations, the running service instances start to sky rock. Ok, this is pretty normal. Let's say about 10000, and then we stop the receive location to see how biztalk handles these 10000 instances. Normally they would go down pretty fast, and it does sometimes, but after a while it starts to "throttle", meaning they just stop being processed and the service instances stay at the same number, for example in 30 seconds it goes down from 10000 to 4000 and then it stays at 4000 and it lowers very very very slowly, like 30 in 5minutes or something. So this means, that all the other service instances of the other applications are also stuck in here, and they are also not processed. We noticed that after restarting our host instances the instance number went down fast again. So we tried to selectively restart different host instances to locate the problem. We noticed that eventually restarting the file send/receive host instance would do the trick. So we thought file sends would be the problem. Concidering that we make a lot of backups. So we replaced the file type backups with mqseries backups. The same problem occured, and funny thing, restarting the file send/receive host still fixes the problem. No errors can be found in the event viewer either. A second problem we're having is. That sometimes at arround 6 am, all or a part of the host instances are being stopped. In the event viewer we noticed the following errors (these are more than one): The receive location "MdnBericht SQL" with URL "SQL://ZNACDBPEG/mdnd0001/" is shutting down. Details:"The error threshold has been exceeded. The receive location is shutting down.". The Messaging Engine failed to add a receive location "M2m Othello Export Start Bestand" with URL "\m2mservices\Othello_import$\DataFilter Start*.xml" to the adapter "FILE". Reason: "The FILE adapter cannot access the folder \m2mservices\Othello_import$\DataFilter Start. Verify this folder exists. Error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. ". The FILE adapter cannot access the folder \m2mservices\Othello_import$\DataFilter Start. Verify this folder exists. Error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. An attempt to connect to "BizTalkMsgBoxDb" SQL Server database on server "ZNACDBBTS" failed. Error: "Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection." It woould seem that there's a login failure at this time and that because of it other services are also experiencing problems, and eventually they are shut down. The thing is, our user is admin, and it's impossible that it's password is wrong "sometimes". We have concidering that the problem could be due to an infrastructure problem, but that's not really are department. I know it's a long post, but we're not sure anymore what to do. Would adding another server and balancing the load solve our problems? Is there a way to meassure our balance and know where to start splitting? What are normal numbers of load etc? I appreciate any answers because these issues are getting worse and we're also on a deadline. Thanks a lot for replies!

  • ASIHttpRequest problems. "unrecognized selector sent to instance"

    - by Paul Peelen
Hi, I am experiencing problems using ASIHttpRequst. This is the error I get: 2010-04-11 20:47:08.176 citybikesPlus[5885:207] *** -[CALayer rackDone:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x464a890 2010-04-11 20:47:08.176 citybikesPlus[5885:207] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[CALayer rackDone:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x464a890' 2010-04-11 20:47:08.176 citybikesPlus[5885:207] Stack: ( 33936475, 2546353417, 34318395, 33887862, 33740482, 126399, 445238, 33720545, 33717320, 40085013, 40085210, 3108783, 11168, 11022 ) And this is my code (Part of it): // Implement viewDidLoad to do additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. - (void)viewDidLoad { [image setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"bullet_rack.png"]]; BikeAnnotation *bike = [[annotationView annotation] retain]; bike._sub = @""; [super viewDidLoad]; NSString *newUrl = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:rackUrl, bike._id]; NSString *fetchUrl = [newUrl stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; [networkQueue cancelAllOperations]; [networkQueue setRequestDidFinishSelector:@selector(rackDone:)]; [networkQueue setRequestDidFailSelector:@selector(processFailed:)]; [networkQueue setDelegate:self]; ASIFormDataRequest *request = [[[ASIFormDataRequest alloc] initWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:fetchUrl]] retain]; [request setDefaultResponseEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; [networkQueue addOperation:request]; [networkQueue go]; } - (void)rackDone:(ASIHTTPRequest *)request { NSString *resultSearch = [request responseString]; NSData *data = [resultSearch dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSString *errorDesc = nil; NSPropertyListFormat format; NSDictionary * dict = (NSDictionary*)[NSPropertyListSerialization propertyListFromData:data mutabilityOption:NSPropertyListMutableContainersAndLeaves format:&format errorDescription:&errorDesc]; rackXmlResult* fileResult = [[[rackXmlResult alloc] initWithDictionary:dict] autorelease]; rackXmlSet *rackSet = [fileResult getRackResult]; NSString *subString = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"Cyklar tillgängligt: %@ -- Lediga platser: %@", rackSet._ready_bikes, rackSet._empty_locks]; [activity setHidden:YES]; [image setHidden:NO]; BikeAnnotation *bike = [annotationView annotation]; bike._sub = subString; } - (void) processFailed:(ASIHTTPRequest *)request { UIAlertView *errorView; NSError *error = [request error]; NSString *errorString = [error localizedDescription]; errorView = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle: NSLocalizedString(@"Network error", @"Network error") message: errorString delegate: self cancelButtonTitle: NSLocalizedString(@"Close", @"Network error") otherButtonTitles: nil]; [errorView show]; [errorView autorelease]; } The process is loaded as LeftCalloutView in the callout bubble when annotations are loaded in my mapview, so quite a lot (80 times or so). It is meant to retrieve a XML Plist from a server, parse it and use the data... but it dies at the rackDone: Does anybody have any ideas? Regards, Paul Peelen

  • Jagged Edge Arrays in PHP

    - by chriscct7
I want to store some data in (I guess a semi-2, semi-3d array) in PHP (5.3) What I need to do is store data about each floor like this: Floor Num of Spots Handicap Motorcyle Other 1 100 array(15,16,17) array (47,62) array (99,100) 2 100 array(15,16,17) array (47,62) array (99,100) and on The problem is, is if the Handicap+Motorcyle+Other were ints, I could just store the data in a 2d array. However, they aren't. So I was thinking I could make something almost like a 3D array, with the first two columns only being in 2D. The other thought I had was making a 2D array and for columns 3,4, and 5 instead of saving as array(15,16) //save like 1516 And then split at two digits (1 digit array numbers would be prefaced with a 0). However, I am wondering about the limit of the length of a string, because if I decide to move to a 3 digit length number in the array, like array(100, 104), and I need to store alot of numbers, I am thinking I am going to quickly exceed the max.

  • Saving Blob data from SQLite database to a file

    - by Felipe
Hello, I'm trying to save blob data from a SQLite database (Safari cache: Cache.db) to a file, but for some reason sqlite won't read the whole blob. I eventually would like to do this in ruby, but for now something that works directly in sqlite command prompt is fine. Also, I've read all of the entries that talk about this here on stackoverflow, but most of them only discuss the performance of saving images in blobs and the one entry that does show to save blobs to file is in C# which does not help me. Here is what I've tried: sqlite select * from cfurl_cache_response limit 1; 3501|0|945281827|0|http://www.gospelz.com/components/com_jomcomment/smilies/guest.gif|2010-02-24 16:20:07 sqlite select receiver_data from cfurl_cache_blob_data where entry_ID = 3501; GIF89a( A hexdump of the original (guest.gif) file shows that sqlite stops reading the blob after the first null value: $ hexdump -C guest.gif 00000000 47 49 46 38 39 61 28 00 28 00 f7 00 00 f1 f5 fd |GIF89a(.(.......| sqlite .output test.gif sqlite select receiver_data from cfurl_cache_blob_data where entry_ID = 3501; $ hexdump -C test.gif 00000000 47 49 46 38 39 61 28 0a |GIF89a(.|

  • mkdir error in bash script

    - by Don
Hi, The following is a fragment of a bash script that I'm running under cygwin on Windows: deployDir=/cygdrive/c/Temp/deploy timestamp=`date +%Y-%m-%d_%H:%M:%S` deployDir=${deployDir}/$timestamp if [ ! -d "$deployDir" ]; then echo "making dir $deployDir" mkdir -p $deploydir fi This produces output such as: making dir /cygdrive/c/Temp/deploy/2010-04-30_11:47:58 mkdir: missing operand Try `mkdir --help' for more information. However, if I type /cygdrive/c/Temp/deploy/2010-04-30_11:47:58 on the command-line it succeeds, why does the same command not work in the script? Thanks, Don

  • Reading a triangle of numbers into a 2d array of ints in Python

    - by Gabriel Silk
    I want to read a triangle of integer values from a file into a 2D array of ints using Python. The numbers would look like this: 75 95 64 17 47 82 18 35 87 10 20 04 82 47 65 ... The code I have so far is as follows: f = open('problem18.input', 'r') arr = [] for i in range(0, 15): arr.append([]) str = f.readline() a = str.split(' ') for tok in a: arr[i].append(int(tok[:2])) print arr I have a feeling this could be done in a tighter, more Pythonesque way. How would you do it?
