  • Microsoft Excel 2007 constantly calculating sheets

    I believe this happening for two weeks now: Excel 2007 (on Windows XP) is acting funny on my computer; any medium sized sheet with some formulas in it takes a significant amount of time recalculating. I can see this because the "calculating: 2 processors xx%" message was almost unseen before and now it appears on most operations like calculating a formula (on one cell), saving, previewing, etc. If the sheet is complex (lots of formulas) I have to disable automatic calculations because excel renders as unusable - it hangs for a really long time, measureable in minutes. Any idea on what may be causing this? ps: this is a Core2 Duo computer with 2 Gb of RAM

  • Open MS Office templates with Firefox ?

    Hello Guys; I've a problem with Firefox or MS Office maybe both of them. Our firm has an Intranet and publishes some documents via Intra. MS Office 2007 is used to create document templates and stored as "file://depo/ISO9001//Form/_Form.xlt, _Form.dot" in the server. Unfortunately Firefox can't open these templates or downloads over Intra. Is there any solution to this issue? I don't want to use Firefox after IE after Firefox. Many thanks and any help will be appreciated.

  • Migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 - remove old 03 computer account?

    Migrated from Exchange 2003 to 2007 back in February of this year. I've still got the old exchange computer account in AD. Can I simply delete the computer account or will bad things start happening? I've looked in the Exchange 07 console and don't see the old server listed at all. HOWEVER: we do still have an old CNAME for this old Exchange server pointing to the new one for a few old clients that still have their mail server set to the old name...if that matters at all. I ran "get-exchangeserver" on the new server and the old one isn't listed at all.

    In Word 2007’s equation editor, I can enter “1/2” and I will get a properly formatted fraction. However, there is another kind of fraction that uses a smaller font size. How do I type that one using the keyboard alone? I notice that if I switch to linear mode, I get a small box displayed: Using the clipboard, I find that this is the same box (U+25A1) that I also get if I type “\box”. Despite, typing “\box(1/2)” still turns into a normal-size fraction and not the small fraction. How do I type the small fraction?

    I need to migrate our Sherweb.com exchange 2007 services to a Google Apps account. For the process I am really not sure.. I understand I should start with creating aliases for all email accounts within the exchange server, in Google Apps, and here I'm not sure how am I supposed to explain the Exchange that the DNS have changed without losing emails.'' Second thing is: How can I safely move the up-to 3GB mailboxes from the Exchange server to the new Google Apps accounts? Must it be with Outlook data files? If so, how do I actually upload the data files into the Google Apps account? And if not, what would be a proper way to do so? Would really appreciate any kind of help.

  • Why Outlook 2007 pasted images are larger than original?

    I have been using Outlook 2007 for over a year with no image problems. Around September 1st, images that I paste into messages are enlarged in the messages. This happends with WinSnap, the Vista Snipping Tool, or any jpeg pasted into the message I tried jpegs with 96dpi settings w/o sucess I tried different Outlook Format Picture ... and Size ... settings Problem happens with both RTF and HTML messages Attached images are ok Something mysteriously changed and I cannot figure it out. I googled this to death without any success (others have the problem but there is no solution). This is driving me nuts because I snap screenshots all day long ("a picture is worth a thousand words"). Thanks in advance.

    After a copy/paste mishap in Microsoft Word 2007, I ended up with text looking like this: This line breaks up here continues here, and so on here, when it should all be in a single line without all the random whitespace. I confirmed that there are paragraph separators and extra whitespace between each line - probably due to hard-coded newlines in the original source. Is there a (preferrably easy) way to merge paragraphs in Microsoft Word? Is there a way to re-format a paragraph so that extraneous whitespace is removed? I can change the flush style, but the whitespace remains. I (obviously?) do not have any experience with Word, being more of a TeX person, but I have been searching Google and crawling the menus for a few hours and I have yet to find a solution...

    Hiya. I installed outlook express 2007 and i configured it for my e-mail account. it seems that i cannot remove the personal folders and i cannot configure the gmail Mail file to be as default. (it's translated from hebrew so i hope i got the menu words correct) when i go to tools - manage accounts - data files i see 2 files, one for personal folders and the other for my gmail. the personal folder is the default one and i can't remove it and i can't set my gmail mail file to be the default. how can i resolve the issue? thanks!

  • Outlook 2007 Script that sends new form email when a message is dragged and dropped into a folder

    Is it possible to write a script that will allow Outlook to automatically send out a new email to a distribution list when you drag and drop and previously opened email into a specified folder? The rules only let you apply them to received and sent messages. They do not allow you to apply it to anything that is dragged and dropped after being opened. It baffles me that Novell Groupwise had this functionality but Outlook 2007 does not. If someone can assist me in writing a script/macro to provided this functionality, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Windows Server 2003/Exchange 2007: How to setup public domain mail.foo.com to route to internal exch

    Good day, I have an internal Exchange Server 2007 and a Windows Server 2003 domain. At this point in time I have an external DNS setup (DynDNS 29.95 service) to resolve foo.com to my singular public IP address then it gets routed to external facing site. I would like to know how to setup POP on mail.foo.com and SMTP on smtp.foo.com, and more importantly, what needs to be setup in Exchange server to allow for this to happen. My end state is to send email through smtp.foo.com and receive mail on mail.foo.com. As of now, when I create a user within Exchange the default email address is [email protected], and I would like it to be [email protected]. Thank you and I appreciate the help as I am a .NET developer trying to do sys admin work, and it is MUCH harder than I have ever imagined, my hat is off to all sys admins and IT pros.

    Edit: OK. I've found the OST with the tasks in it, but I am unable to import an OST into outlook, it appears it needs to be converted to PST first. Is there anyone who knows a free OST - PST converter or some way to import OSTs directly into outlook? I am using outlook 2007 linked to an MSN email account through outlook connector. I recently added [email protected] (Fake address) to my outlook and deleted [email protected]. I thought my tasks were locally stored seperately from the email address, but it turns out when I deleted [email protected], I also lost all of my tasks. This is catastrophic. Is there any way to recover them? They're not stored on the MSN web account. I figure they must still be somewhere on my computer. I just don't know where to look or how to look there. Thank you.

  • How to Create and Manage Contact Groups in Outlook 2010

    If you find you’re sending emails to the same people all the time during the day, it’s tedious entering in their addresses individually. Today we take a look at creating Contact Groups to make the process a lot easier. Create Contact Groups Open Outlook and click on New Items \ More Items \ Contact Group. This opens the Contract Group window. Give your group a name, click on Add Members, and select the people you want to add from your Outlook Contacts, Address Book, or Create new ones. If you select from your address book you can scroll through and add the contacts you want. If you have a large amount of contacts you might want to search for them or use Advanced Find. If you want to add a new email contact to your group, you’ll just need to enter in their display name and email address then click OK. If you want the new member added to your Contacts list then make sure Add to Contacts is checked. After you have the contacts you want in the group, click Save & Close. Now when you compose a message you should be able to type in the name of the Contact Group you created… If you want to make sure you have everyone included in the group, click on the plus icon to expand the contacts. You will get a dialog box telling you the members of the group will be shown and you cannot collapse it again. Check the box not to see the message again then click OK. Then the members of the group will appear in the To field. Of course you can enter a Contact Group into the CC or Bcc fields as well. Add or Remove Members to a Contact Group After expanding the group you might notice some contacts aren’t included, or there is an old contact you don’t want to be in the group anymore. Click on the To button… Right-click on the Contact Group and select Properties. Now you can go ahead and Add Members… Or highlight a member and remove them…when finished click Save & Close. If you need to send emails to several of the same people, creating Contact Groups is a great way to save time by not entering them individually. If you work in for a large company, creating Contact Groups by department is a must!     I have experienced this issue mainly with Excel, Word and Powerpoint 2013, where there is constant pop-up box asking for login credentials as it tries to connect to officeimg.vo.msecnd.net I have searched and found one of the solution, to prevent Office from connecting to the internet (Options Trust Center Settings Allow Office to connect to internet). This solution worked for sometime, but am back to square one again. Solutions are sought, as this is a nagging problem, I am sure others would have experienced the same.

  • Sort Your Emails by Conversation in Outlook 2010

    Do you prefer the way Gmail sorts your emails by conversation?  Here’s how you can use this handy feature in Outlook 2010 too. One exciting new feature in Outlook 2010 is the ability to sort and link your emails by conversation.  This makes it easier to know what has been discussed in emails, and helps you keep your inbox more tidy.  Some users don’t like their emails linked into conversations, and in the final release of Outlook 2010 it is turned off by default.  Since this is a new feature, new users may overlook it and never know it’s available.  Here’s how you can enable conversation view and keep your email conversations accessible and streamlined. Activate Conversation View By default, your inbox in Outlook 2010 will look much like it always has in Outlook…a list of individual emails. To view your emails by conversation, select the View tab and check the Show as Conversations box on the top left. Alternately, click on the Arrange By tab above your emails, and select Show as Conversations. Outlook will ask if you want to activate conversation view in only this folder or all folders.  Choose All folders to view all emails in Outlook in conversations. Outlook will now resort your inbox, linking emails in the same conversation together.  Individual emails that don’t belong to a conversation will look the same as before, while conversations will have a white triangle carrot on the top left of the message title.  Select the message to read the latest email in the conversation. Or, click the triangle to see all of the messages in the conversation.  Now you can select and read any one of them. Most email programs and services include the previous email in the body of an email when you reply.  Outlook 2010 can recognize these previous messages as well.  You can navigate between older and newer messages from popup Next and Previous buttons that appear when you hover over the older email’s header.  This works both in the standard Outlook preview pane and when you open an email in its own window.   Edit Conversation View Settings Back in the Outlook View tab, you can tweak your conversation view to work the way you want.  You can choose to have Outlook Always Expand Conversations, Show Senders Above the Subject, and to Use Classic Indented View.  By default, Outlook will show messages from other folders in the conversation, which is generally helpful; however, if you don’t like this, you can uncheck it here.  All of these settings will stay the same across all of your Outlook accounts. If you choose Indented View, it will show the title on the top and then an indented message entry underneath showing the name of the sender. The Show Senders Above the Subject view makes it more obvious who the email is from and who else is active in the conversation.  This is especially useful if you usually only email certain people about certain topics, making the subject lines less relevant. Or, if you decide you don’t care for conversation view, you can turn it off by unchecking the box in the View tab as above. Conclusion Although it may take new users some time to get used to, conversation view can be very helpful in keeping your inbox organized and letting important emails stay together.  If you’re a Gmail user syncing your email account with Outlook, you may find this useful as it makes Outlook 2010 work more like Gmail, even when offline.     Just wondering does anyone know of a free/open source tool that take a Microsoft project file and export it to HTML? I know you can save a project file as HTML, so wanted a tool that would do this automatically? Maybe also displaying graphs/gantt chart as well? If not, any ideas of how I would write a program to do this, preferably in java? I know of Aspose.Tasks (http://www.aspose.com/categories/.net-components/aspose.tasks-for-.net/default.aspx), which can export projects files to gantt charts in png format, but it's not free and is only available in C#.
