  • Cisco Pix 501 - reaching local host limit, showing odd IP addresses

    - by cdonner
I am running out of licenses on my Pix 501, and the show local-host command lists a number of odd IP addresses that do not belong to my 10.10.1.* subnet. Any idea what they are? The only thing I could find was a potential ISP: DINSA is Defence Interoperable Network Services Authority, an agency of the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom. Does not sound right. I don't see any active connections, though. I can't ping or traceroute these IPs, but they reappear after I clear the list, with various other addresses in that general range, up until the connection limit is reached. Based on the number denied, I suppose I would have a lot more of them had I not the connection limit. Very dubious. Is anybody else seeing this? pixfirewall# show local-host Interface inside: 10 active, 10 maximum active, **118 denied** local host: <10.10.1.110>, TCP connection count/limit = 0/unlimited TCP embryonic count = 0 TCP intercept watermark = unlimited UDP connection count/limit = 0/unlimited AAA: Xlate(s): Conn(s): local host: <10.10.1.176>, TCP connection count/limit = 0/unlimited TCP embryonic count = 0 TCP intercept watermark = unlimited UDP connection count/limit = 0/unlimited AAA: Xlate(s): Conn(s): local host: <10.10.1.170>, TCP connection count/limit = 0/unlimited TCP embryonic count = 0 TCP intercept watermark = unlimited UDP connection count/limit = 1/unlimited AAA: Xlate(s): Conn(s): local host: <10.10.1.175>, TCP connection count/limit = 11/unlimited TCP embryonic count = 0 TCP intercept watermark = unlimited UDP connection count/limit = 1/unlimited AAA: Xlate(s): Conn(s): local host: <10.10.1.108>, TCP connection count/limit = 0/unlimited TCP embryonic count = 0 TCP intercept watermark = unlimited UDP connection count/limit = 0/unlimited AAA: Xlate(s): Conn(s): local host: <25.33.41.115>, // ???????????????? what is this? • Why can blocked IPs get through my iptables? What's wrong with this configuration?

    - by NeedSomeHelp
(Why can/How are) blocked IPs (get/getting) through my iptables? Hello and thanks for your consideration... I have configured iptables and included (below) output from the command "iptables --line-numbers -n -L" yet IP addresses (like 31.41.219.180) from IP blocks I have already blocked are getting through. Please take a look and share any input you may have. Thank you. P.S. The initial ACCEPT IP addresses are for CloudFlare. . • Ping "replies" from same computer with 'Destination host unreachable' (no route to other computer)

    - by Srekel
I've got two computers in a LAN behind a wireless router. One has XP with ip 192.168.1.2 This one has W7 with ip 192.168.1.7 If I try to ping the other one from this computer, I get this: C:\Users\Srekel>ping 192.168.1.2 Pinging 192.168.1.2 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.7: Destination host unreachable. • postfix cannot getting my domain name?

    - by Kossel
Hi I'm trying to setup webmin+postfix+dovecot+roundcube, for this moment I want things be as simple as possible so I'm using linux users as email accounts. I can send/receive from the same domain, I mean [email protected] can send/receive to/from [email protected] I tested smtp/imap with outlook and says no problem. if I send a mail from gmail it reject with error of: Technical details of temporary failure: The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect. when I login with roundcube the email address display in the right corner is something like user1@com and I get this error message from logs: [11-Nov-2012 07:39:03 +0400]: IMAP Error: Login failed for user1 from 187.150.xx.xx. • Linux HA cluster w/Xen, Heartbeat, Pacemaker. domU does not failover to secondary node

    - by Kendall
I am having the followig problem with an OenSuSE + Heartbeat + Pacemaker + Xen HA cluster: when the node a Xen domU is running on is "dead" the Xen domU running on it is not restarted on the second node. The cluster is setup with two nodes, each running OpenSuSE-11.3, Heartbeat 3.0, and Pacemaker 1.0 in CRM mode. For storage I am using a LUN on an iSCSI SAN device; the LUN is formatted with OCFS2 and managed with LVM. The Xen domU has two logical volumes; one for root and the other for swap. I am using IPMI cards for STONITH devices, and a dedicated ethernet link for heartbeat communications. The ha.cf file is as follows: keepalive 1 deadtime 10 warntime 5 udpport 694 ucast eth1 auto_failback off node dhcp-166 node stage use_logd yes crm yes My resources look as follows: shocrm(live)configure# show node $id="5c1aa924-bba4-4f95-a367-6c9a58ac4a38" dhcp-166 node $id="cebc92eb-af24-4833-aaf0-672adf80b58e" stage primitive Xen-Util ocf:heartbeat:Xen \ meta target-role="Started" \ operations $id="Xen-Util-operations" \ op start interval="0" timeout="60" start-delay="0" \ op stop interval="0" timeout="120" \ params xmfile="/etc/xen/vm/xen-util" primitive my-stonith stonith:external/ipmi \ params hostname="dhcp-166" ipaddr="192.168.3.106" userid="ADMIN" passwd="xxx" \ op monitor interval="2m" timeout="60s" primitive my-stonith2 stonith:external/ipmi \ params hostname="stage" ipaddr="192.168.3.105" userid="ADMIN" passwd="xxx" \ op monitor interval="2m" timeout="60s" property $id="cib-bootstrap-options" \ dc-version="1.0.9-89bd754939df5150de7cd76835f98fe90851b677" \ cluster-infrastructure="Heartbeat" The Xen domU config file is as follows: name = "xen-util" bootloader = "/usr/lib/xen/boot/domUloader.py" #bootargs = "xvda1:/vmlinuz-xen,/initrd-xen" bootargs = "--entry=xvda1:/boot/vmlinuz-xen,/boot/initrd-xen" memory = 4096 disk = [ 'phy:vg_xen/xen-util-root,xvda1,w', 'phy:vg_xen/xen-util-swap,xvda2,w', ] root = "/dev/xvda1" vif = [ 'mac=00:16:3e:42:42:06' ] #vfb = [ 'type=vnc,vncunused=0,vnclisten=192.168.3.172' ] extra = "" Say domU "Xen-Util" is running on node "stage"; if "stage" goes down, "Xen-Util" does not restart on node "dhcp-166". It seems to want to try as an "xm list" will show it for a few seconds and if you "xm console xen-util" it will give a message like "copying /boot/kernel.gz from xvda1 to /var/lib/xen/tmp/kernel.a53gs for booting". However, it never gets past that, eventually gives up, and no longer appears in "xm list". Now, when node "stage" comes back online after being power cycled, it detects that "Xen-Util" isn't running, and starts it (on stage). I've tried starting "Xen-Util" on node "dhcp-166" without the cluster running, and it works fine. No problems. So, I know it works in that respect. Any ideas? Thanks!

The FXO module is directly connected to our phone line from BT via a BT-RJ11 cable. I'm guessing I've missed a configuration step somewhere but no idea where, any help greatly appreciated.

  • Secure ldap problem

I have tried to config my openldap to have secure connection by using openssl on Debian5. By the way, I got trouble during the below command. ldap:/etc/ldap# slapd -h 'ldap:// ldaps://' -d1 >>> slap_listener(ldaps://) connection_get(15): got connid=7 connection_read(15): checking for input on id=7 connection_get(15): got connid=7 connection_read(15): checking for input on id=7 connection_get(15): got connid=7 connection_read(15): checking for input on id=7 connection_get(15): got connid=7 connection_read(15): checking for input on id=7 connection_read(15): unable to get TLS client DN, error=49 id=7 connection_get(15): got connid=7 connection_read(15): checking for input on id=7 ber_get_next ber_get_next on fd 15 failed errno=0 (Success) connection_closing: readying conn=7 sd=15 for close connection_close: conn=7 sd=15 Then I have search for "unable to get TLS client DN, error=49 id=7" but it seems no where has a good solution to this yet. • ESXi 5.1 ghettoVCB stuck at Clone: 10% done

    - by stormdrain
    Trying to run ghettoVCB for the first time here. I am using a NAS that is set up as a datastore on the host. I did a dry run and it completed without error. The VM is ~500GB and there is only one on the host that I'm trying to backup. I proceeded to start the actual backup: ./ghettoVCB.sh -m vmname -g ghettoVCB.conf It goes though the config and looks like it's taking off: 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - USING GLOBAL GHETTOVCB CONFIGURATION FILE = ghettoVCB.conf 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - VERSION = 2013_01_11_0 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - GHETTOVCB_PID = 17398616 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - VM_BACKUP_VOLUME = /vmfs/volumes/nas2tb-001/esxi4 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - VM_BACKUP_ROTATION_COUNT = 3 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - VM_BACKUP_DIR_NAMING_CONVENTION = 2013-10-24_11-43-18 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - DISK_BACKUP_FORMAT = thin 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - POWER_VM_DOWN_BEFORE_BACKUP = 0 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - ENABLE_HARD_POWER_OFF = 0 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - ITER_TO_WAIT_SHUTDOWN = 4 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - POWER_DOWN_TIMEOUT = 5 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - SNAPSHOT_TIMEOUT = 15 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - LOG_LEVEL = info 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - BACKUP_LOG_OUTPUT = /tmp/ghettoVCB-2013-10-24_11-43-18-17398616.log 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - ENABLE_COMPRESSION = 0 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - VM_SNAPSHOT_MEMORY = 0 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - VM_SNAPSHOT_QUIESCE = 0 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - ALLOW_VMS_WITH_SNAPSHOTS_TO_BE_BACKEDUP = 0 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - VMDK_FILES_TO_BACKUP = all 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - VM_SHUTDOWN_ORDER = 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - VM_STARTUP_ORDER = 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: CONFIG - EMAIL_LOG = 0 2013-10-24 11:43:19 -- info: 2013-10-24 11:43:22 -- info: Initiate backup for vmname 2013-10-24 11:43:22 -- info: Creating Snapshot "ghettoVCB-snapshot-2013-10-24" for serv2 Destination disk format: VMFS thin-provisioned Cloning disk '/vmfs/volumes/esxi4-storage/vmname/vmname_1.vmdk'... On the NAS it's showing ~430GB but on vSphere Client Summary is shows as 507GB. I don't see the vmdk on the NAS growing any more. The logfile mimics some of the above and is sitting at "Creating Snapshot..." and nothing else is coming in. Is the vmdk on the NAS showing all those GB because of the provisioning or something? i.e. is the size of the file not necessarily indicative of the amount of actual data that has been copied? Is there are reason it might be "Stuck" at 10%? i.e. could it really be taking this long? Any other tips? Thanks. Edit: as soon as I hit the Submit button, I glance over to see that it has incremented to 11% done. Good to know it'll be complete sometime around when the sun explodes.

  • Veewee, Vagrant, Puppet, Erlang and RabbitMQ

    - by Tobias
I am kinda stuck with a problem I am trying to wrap my head around for days now. Here is what I am doing: By using Veewee, I am creating a VirtualBox image and then I create a Vagrant box from it. See here, here Finally I run puppet from Vagrant to install RabbitMQ, see here. Veewee, Vagrant and VirtualBox all run on MacOS X 10.7.4. The vagrant box itself is CentOS 6.2. This worked fine for quite some time until I was recreating the VirtualBox image a couple of days ago. During installation of the rabbitmq-plugins during my puppet run I now get the following error: /Stage[main]/Rabbitmq/Exec[rabbitmq-plugins]/returns: erlexec: HOME must be set My RabbitMQ puppet configuration can be found on my GitHub repo for that project, but here is the most important part: $version = "2.8.7" $url = "http://www.rabbitmq.com/releases/rabbitmq-server/v${version}/rabbitmq-server-${version}-1.noarch.rpm" package{"erlang": ensure => "present", } package{"rabbitmq-server": provider => "rpm", source => $url, require => Package["erlang"] } exec{"rabbitmq-plugins": path => "/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/bin", command => "rabbitmq-plugins enable rabbitmq_management", require => Package["rabbitmq-server"] } My additional repositories, e.g. epel, are defined in veewees postinstall.sh right at the top of the file. Finally, this is what I get when I do '/etc/init.d/rabbitmq-server status' [{pid,2834}, {running_applications,[{rabbit,"RabbitMQ","2.8.7"}, {ssl,"Erlang/OTP SSL application","4.1.6"}, {public_key,"Public key infrastructure","0.13"}, {crypto,"CRYPTO version 2","2.0.4"}, {mnesia,"MNESIA CXC 138 12","4.5"}, {os_mon,"CPO CXC 138 46","2.2.7"}, {sasl,"SASL CXC 138 11","2.1.10"}, {stdlib,"ERTS CXC 138 10","1.17.5"}, {kernel,"ERTS CXC 138 10","2.14.5"}]}, {os,{unix, linux}}, {erlang_version,"Erlang R14B04 (erts-5.8.5) [source] [64-bit] [rq:1] [async-threads:30] [kernel-poll:true]\n"}, {memory,[{total,24993120}, {processes,10328496}, {processes_used,10321296}, {system,14664624}, {atom,1175905}, {atom_used,1143841}, {binary,17192}, {code,11416020}, {ets,766168}]}, {vm_memory_high_watermark,0.4}, {vm_memory_limit,205851852}, {disk_free_limit,1000000000}, {disk_free,7089795072}, {file_descriptors,[{total_limit,924}, {total_used,4}, {sockets_limit,829}, {sockets_used,2}]}, {processes,[{limit,1048576},{used,131}]}, {run_queue,0}, {uptime,6}] Sources in the web suggest, that I have to set HOME. Of course I was logging into the box if HOME was set, for user vagrant it was '/home/vagrant' and for root it was 'root'. As always, any hints/ideas/suggestions/assumptions are more than welcome. Thanks a lot! Cheers, Tobi

  • MD3200 - 3 to 4x less throughput than MD1220. Am I missing something here?

    - by Igor Polishchuk
I have two R710 servers with similar configuration. One in my office has MD1220 attached. Another one in the datacenter of my hosting services vendor has MD3200. I'm getting significantly worse throughput from MD3200 at my vendors setup. I'm mostly interested in sequential writes, and I'm getting these results in bonnie++ and dd tests: Seq. writes on MD1220 in my office: 1.1 GB/s - bonnie++, 1.3GB/s - dd Seq. writes on MD3200 at my vendor's: 240MB/s - bonnie++, 310MB/s - dd Unfortunately, I could not test the exactly the same configurations, but the two I have should be comparable. If anything, my good performing environment is cheaper than the bad performing. I expect at least similar throughput from these two setups. My vendor cannot really help me. Hopefully, somebody more familiar with the DAS performance can look at it and tell if I'm missing something here and my expectations are too high. To summarize, the question here is it reasonable to expect about 100MB/s of sequential write throughput per each couple of drives in RAID10 on MD3200? Is there any trick to enable such performance in MD3200 with dual controller as opposed to simple MD1220 with a single H800 adapter? More details about the configurations: A good one in my office: Dell R710 2CPU X5650 @ 2.67GHz 12 cores 96GB DDR3, OS: RHEL 5.5, kernel 2.6.18-194.26.1.el5 x86_64 20x300GB 2.5" SAS 10K in a single RAID10 1MB chunk size on MD1220 + Dell H800 I/O controller with 1GB cache in the host Not so good one at my vendor's: Dell R710 2CPU L5520 @ 2.27GHz 8 cores 144GB DDR3, OS: RHEL 5.5, kernel 2.6.18-194.11.4.el5 x86_64 20x146GB 2.5" SAS 15K in a single RAID10 512KB chunk size, Dell MD3200, 2 I/O controllers in array with 1GB cache each Additional information. I've also ran the same tests on the same vendor's host, but the storage was: two raids of 14x146GB 15K RPM drives RAID 10, striped together on the OS level on MD3000+MD1000. The performance was about 25% worse than on MD3200 despite having more drives. When I ran similar tests on the internal storage of my vendor's host (2x146GB 15K RPM drives RAID1, Perc 6i) I've got about 128MB/s seq. writes. Just two internal drives gave me about a half of 20 drives' throughput on MD3200. The random I/O performance of the MD3200 setup is ok, it gives me at least 1300 IOPS. I'm mostly have problems with sequentioal I/O throughput. Thank you for looking into it. Regards Igor

  • DNSBL listed at zen.spamhaus.org - cant get outgoing mail working? Am I interpreting the response correctly?

    - by Joe Hopfgartner
I have problem with a mailserver and there is something I kind of not understand! I can connect, authenticate, specify the sender address - but when specifying the reciever i get a error 550 which looks like so: RCPT TO:[email protected] 550-DNSBL listed at zen.spamhaus.org 550 http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=62.178.15.161 Now the strange thing is that 62.178.15.161 is my local client address. Not the servers ip address. Also the error code 550 seems to be defined as so: 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable To me that makes totally no sense. Why this error code with this spamhaus message? Why the local ip adress and not the servers? There is exim running and there is nothing turning up in the logs mail.err mail.info mail.log mail.warn in /var/log I looked up both the servers and the clients ip adress on blacklists. The clients ip adress is listed on some (as expected), but the server is totally clean. Here is the complete telnet log when I reproduced the error. Mail clients like Evolution and Thunderbird give me the same spamhaus error message. joe@joe-desktop:~$ telnet mail.hunsynth.org 25 Trying 193.164.132.42... Connected to mail.hunsynth.org. So it really looks like the server does check the IP wich establiches the connection is in some blacklist. This is theoretically a good thing - but - the authentication on the server should prevent that? Or shouldn't it? Well I just think it would be absurd if I couldn't send email over my smtp server from my dynamic ISP connection because the dynamic is listed, altough i have a clean server with login?

  • Issues with Server 2012 using DFSR running on Hyper-V 2012

    - by Bryan
We have a number of Server 2012 systems, all of which run virtualised on Hyper-V 2012 server. We are having problems with two such virtual instances, both of which are used as file servers, whereby they occasionally stop responding to requests to serve files to clients. After logging on to the server, attempts to shut it down gracefully fail (no error, it just fails to acknowledge a shutdown request). Recovery is a case of power cycling the server(s) from the Hyper-V console. These two servers don't server a large number of users (one serves no more than 6 users, and the other serves around 20 users), they are in the same domain, but on different physical hardware (and at different sites). They don't lock up at the same time. They both use DFSR to replicate a fairly large amount of data between themselves (200GB) over ADSL connections, this is working fine, and we have been using DFSR to do this on the previous two generations of server OS we have used (Server 2008 R2 and Server 2003 - both of which were physical installs however). Today, when one of the servers crashed, I noticed an entry in the event log, which looked similar to the following: Log Name: Application Source: ESENT Date: 27/11/2012 10:25:55 Event ID: 533 Task Category: General Level: Warning Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: HAL-FS-01.example.com Description: DFSRs (1500) \\.\E:\System Volume Information\DFSR\database_C8CC_101_CC00_EC0E\ dfsr.db: A request to write to the file "\\.\E:\System Volume Information\ DFSR\database_C8CC_101_CC00_EC0E\fsr.log" at offset 4423680 (0x0000000000438000) for 4096 (0x00001000) bytes has not completed for 36 second(s). This problem is likely due to faulty hardware. Please contact your hardware vendor for further assistance diagnosing the problem. When the server started up again, I went to find the event log entry to investigate further and found that the event log entry was no longer there (I assume it was in memory but failed to write to disk before the server was powered off, for the reason mentioned in the message). I found the above message by searching back further in the event log. Both of these virtual servers have their E: volumes fully allocated as opposed to dynamically expanding, and there are no other issues on any of the other virtual servers (which include server 2012, server 2008 R2 and Ubuntu 12.04 x64). There are no signs of IO, memory or CPU starvation on the host systems. I've used performance counters on the affected virtual servers to monitor memory usage (including non paged pool usage), as well as CPU and network utilisation, and none of these show any signs of trouble when the issue arises. I would have thought our configuration isn't that uncommon, so I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this, and managed to resolve the problem?

  • IIS can't load Oracle.Web assembly (for ASP.NET membership provider)

    - by Konamiman
I am trying to configure an IIS web site to use an Oracle database for ASP.NET membership, but I can't get it to work. IIS doesn't seem to be able to load the assembly containing the Oracle membership provider. That's what I have so far: An Oracle 10g database online and with all the tables for ASP.NET membership created. Windows 2008 R2 Standard with the web server role installed, including support for ASP.NET. Oracle 11g Release 2 ODAC 11.2.0.1.2 installed. The installed components are: Oracle data provider for .NET, Oracle providers for ASP.NET, Oracle instant client. The default web site on IIS (I am using that for testing) has the following web.config file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <configuration> <system.web> <membership defaultProvider="OracleMembershipProvider"> <providers> <remove name="SqlMembershipProvider" /> <add name="OracleMembershipProvider" type="Oracle.Web.Security.OracleMembershipProvider, Oracle.Web, Version=2.112.1.2, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342" connectionStringName="OracleServer" /> </providers> </membership> </system.web> </configuration> (Additional attributes on the "add" element omitted for brevity. Also, the connection string is defined for the whole server.) The Oracle.Web.dll file is on the GAC. That's the relevant part of the C:\Windows\Assembly folder: The web site application pool is configured for .NET 2.0, and has 32-bit applications enabled. I have allowed untrusted providers in the IIS' administration.config file (just for the sake of testing, I'll explicitly add the assembly to the trusted providers list later). With all of this setup in place, when I click on the ".NET Users" icon on the IIS manager, I get a warning about the provider having too much privileges, and when I accept I get the following message: There was an error while performing this operation. Details: Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.Web, Version=2.112.1.2, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. So, what am I missing? How can I get the Oracle membership provider to work? Thank you! UPDATE: It seems that the problem is not with IIS itself, but with the IIS administrator only. When using the web site configuration tool provided by Visual Studio, everything works fine.

I am running an nginx server that acts as a proxy to an upstream unix socket, like this: upstream app_server { server unix:/tmp/app.sock fail_timeout=0; } server { listen ###.###.###.###; server_name whatever.server; root /web/root; try_files $uri @app; location @app { proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto $scheme; proxy_set_header Host $http_host; proxy_redirect off; proxy_pass http://app_server; } } Some app server processes, in turn, pull requests off /tmp/app.sock as they become available. The particular app server in use here is Unicorn, but I don't think that's relevant to this question. The issue is, it just seems that past a certain amount of load, nginx can't get requests through the socket at a fast enough rate. It doesn't matter how many app server processes I set up, it doesn't even matter what the app is (tried it with a dummy app with just a single endpoint that returned an empty page with status 404). The bottleneck seems to be the socket, not the app. I'm getting a flood of these messages in the nginx error log: connect() to unix:/tmp/app.sock failed (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) while connecting to upstream Many requests result in status code 502, and those that don't take a long time to complete. The nginx write queue stat hovers around 1000. Anyway, I feel like I'm missing something obvious here, because this particular configuration of nginx and app server is pretty common, especially with Unicorn (it's the recommended method in fact). Are there any linux kernel options that needs to be set, or something in nginx? Any ideas about how to increase the throughput to the upstream socket? Something that I'm clearly doing wrong? • HT Link Sync Error after Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Installation

    - by marklab
Update 1 I just assembled an exact replica of this server, and successfully installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS in a RAID10 configuration. The success was confirmed by a login to the initial account. There must be a hardware component that is faulty. Since the error mentions HT, which I believe to be Hyper Threading, I will start with the CPUs. Please indicate if this error is more strongly associated with any other piece of hardware. Or make a recommendation of another approach that would be good for this issue. Issue I was attempting to install Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on this system with the board RAID10 configured. However, the installation failed at the partitioning stage by rebooting the system. Upon reboot, there is an error report after POST listing the following: Node0: NB WatchDog Timer Error Node1: HT Link Sync Error Node2: HT Link Sync Error ... Node7: HT Link Sync Error Press F1 to continue/resume. After pressing F1 the system will boot from the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS installation disc. However, it will fail at the same stage, and go through the same process from there. Hardware CPU: AMD OPTERON X12 6172 G34 2.1G 18MB Motherboard: Supermicro H8QG6-F HDD: WD Caviar Green 2TB 5.4K RPM Troubleshooting I disabled RAID10 on the system, and installed the Ubuntu on a single drive. It installed successfully. I then went back to a RAID10 setup and attempted to install on the system again, and was able to make it through the partitioning stage. However, upon reboot, the system reported: Error: file not found, and then booted me into the Grub Rescue console. I feel I have aggravated the problem at this point because when I attempted to install from the boot disc again, the system reboots upon hitting enter to even start the installation process. It does the same thing when trying to boot from an Ubuntu 11 disc. I have not been able to find any information on this HT Link Sync Error, which I feel may have started the problems I am experiencing now with the installation of the OS. I am also aware that Ubuntu is said not to be supported by the motherboard according to Supermicro's site. However, since I was able to install it successfully on a single drive, I do not believe it is incompatible. I would like to know a reason for why it's failing to install on/off.
