  • Why is IE8 rendering superfish menu wrong?

    - by John Isaacks
I am useing the superfish jquery plugin If you view the superfish menu here: clicky the drop-downs show correctly (above the main content) in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE6, IE7 But for some reason they fall behind the main content in IE8. I already set the z-index for the superfish menu which IE7 wasnt working right until I did so, but it didn't fix IE8. Am I missing something?

  • What is in your Mathematica tool bag?

    - by Timo
We all know that Mathematica is great, but it also often lacks critical functionality. What kind of external packages / tools / resources do you use with Mathematica? I'll edit (and invite anyone else to do so too) this main post to include resources which are focused on general applicability in scientific research and which as many people as possible will find useful. Feel free to contribute anything, even small code snippets (as I did below for a timing routine). Also, undocumented and useful features in Mathematica 7 and beyond you found yourself, or dug up from some paper/site are most welcome. Please include a short description or comment on why something is great or what utility it provides. If you link to books on Amazon with affiliate links please mention it, e.g., by putting your name after the link. Packages: LevelScheme is a package that greatly expands Mathematica's capability to produce good looking plots. I use it if not for anything else then for the much, much improved control over frame/axes ticks. David Park's Presentation Package ($50 - no charge for updates) Tools: MASH is Daniel Reeves's excellent perl script essentially providing scripting support for Mathematica 7. (This is finally built in as of Mathematica 8 with the -script option.) Resources: Wolfram's own repository MathSource has a lot of useful if narrow notebooks for various applications. Also check out the other sections such as Current Documentation, Courseware for lectures, and Demos for, well, demos. Books: Mathematica programming: an advanced introduction by Leonid Shifrin (web, pdf) is a must read if you want to do anything more than For loops in Mathematica. Quantum Methods with Mathematica by James F. Feagin (amazon) The Mathematica Book by Stephen Wolfram (amazon) (web) Schaum's Outline (amazon) Mathematica in Action by Stan Wagon (amazon) - 600 pages of neat examples and goes up to Mathematica version 7. Visualization techniques are especially good, you can see some of them on the author's Demonstrations Page. Mathematica Programming Fundamentals by Richard Gaylord (pdf) - A good concise introduction to most of what you need to know about Mathematica programming. Undocumented (or scarcely documented) Features: How to customize Mathematica keyboard shortcuts. See this question. How to inspect patterns and functions used by Mathematica's own functions. See this answer How to achieve Consistent size for GraphPlots in Mathematica? See this question.

  • Coldfusion popularity

    - by jrharshath
Hi, I've heard of Coldfusion being a server side technology for web app dev. Are there any statistics as to how widely it is used as opposed to PHP, Java Servlets and JSP or ASP.NET? Are there any special features in coldfusion that make learning it worth the while? Thanks, jrh PS: please don't close this question as argumentative. I'm looking for statistics and real answers. Thanks for understanding.

  • Django "comment_was_flagged" signal

    - by tsoporan
Hello, This is my first time working with django signals and I would like to hook the "comment_was_flagged" signal provided by the comments app to notify me when a comment is flagged. This is my code, but it doesn't seem to work, am I missing something? from django.contrib.comments.signals import comment_was_flagged from django.core.mail import send_mail def comment_flagged_notification(sender, **kwargs): send_mail('testing moderation', 'testing', 'test@localhost', ['[email protected]',]) comment_was_flagged.connect(comment_flagged_notification) (I am just testing the email for now, but I have assured the email is sending properly.) Thanks!

  • Eclipse doesn’t recognize style in the Android Layout builder?

    - by Artem Russakovskii
Since Android supports styles and it's good practice to use them (similar to CSS), I made a new style and applied it to 3 buttons. The Layout builder in Eclipse did not register the changes and either broke (showed nothing) or didn't apply styles at all. After running the app in the emulator, styles are correctly applied. So is there something I'm missing or the Android plugin doesn't support styles?

  • Customizing toolbar items in VS2010

    - by Gordon Mackie JoanMiro
Has the menu & toolbar customization functionality in VS2010 been reduced? I can't seem to be able to select an icon for an added command, nor set it to be icon-only. Previous versions of Visual Studio supported this functionality and even allowed the creation/editing of custom icons. Is this something that has suffered as a result of the move to the WPF-authored UI or am I missing something?

  • RhinoMocks AAA Syntax

    - by Bill Campbell
Hi, I've spent a good part of the day trying to figure out why a simple RhinoMocks test doesn't return the value I'm setting in the return. I'm sure that I'm just missing something really simple but I can't figure it out. Here's my test: [TestMethod] public void CopyvRAFiles_ShouldCallCopyvRAFiles_ShouldReturnTrue2() { FileInfo fi = new FileInfo(@"c:\Myprogram.txt"); FileInfo[] myFileInfo = new FileInfo[2]; myFileInfo[0] = fi; myFileInfo[1] = fi; var mockSystemIO = MockRepository.GenerateMock<ISystemIO>(); mockSystemIO.Stub(x => x.GetFilesForCopy("c:")).Return(myFileInfo); mockSystemIO.Expect(y => y.FileCopyDateCheck(@"c:\Myprogram.txt", @"c:\Myprogram.txt")).Return("Test"); CopyFiles copy = new CopyFiles(mockSystemIO); List<string> retValue = copy.CopyvRAFiles("c:", "c:", new AdminWindowViewModel(vRASharedData)); mockSystemIO.VerifyAllExpectations(); } I have an interface for my SystemIO class I'm passing in a mock for that to my CopyFiles class. I'm setting an expectation on my FileCopyDatCheck method and saying that it should Return("Test"). When I step through the code, it returns a null insteaed. Any ideas what I'm missing here? Here's my CopyFiles class Method: public List<string> CopyvRAFiles(string currentDirectoryPath, string destPath, AdminWindowViewModel adminWindowViewModel) { string fileCopied; List<string> filesCopied = new List<string>(); try { sysIO.CreateDirectoryIfNotExist(destPath); FileInfo[] files = sysIO.GetFilesForCopy(currentDirectoryPath); if (files != null) { foreach (FileInfo file in files) { fileCopied = sysIO.FileCopyDateCheck(file.FullName, destPath + file.Name); filesCopied.Add(fileCopied); } } //adminWindowViewModel.CheckFilesThatRequireSystemUpdate(filesCopied); return filesCopied; } catch (Exception ex) { ExceptionPolicy.HandleException(ex, "vRAClientPolicy"); Console.WriteLine("{0} Exception caught.", ex); ShowErrorMessageDialog(ex); return null; } } I would think that "fileCopied" would have the Return value set by the Expect. The GetFilesForCopy returns the two files in myFileInfo. Please Help. :) thanks in advance!

  • Eclipse PDT debugging web application: evaluating expressions in a console

    - by dreftymac
When using Eclipse PDT with XDebug to debug a PHP web application, is there any way to open up a console window that will allow me to type in and see the value of arbitrary expressions in the current scope? This would seem like an obvious element of the debugging environment, and I may be missing something, but the only thing resembling a console says "no consoles to display at this time"

  • Android strange behavior with listview and custom cursor adapter

    - by Michael Little
I have a problem with a list view and a custom cursor adapter and I just can't seem to figure out what is wrong with my code. Basically, in my activity I call initalize() that does a bunch of stuff to handle getting the proper data and initializing the listview. On first run of the activity you can see from the images that one of the items is missing from the list. If I go to another activity and go back to this activity the item that was missing shows up. I believe it has something to do with setContentView(R.layout.parent). If I move that to my initialize() then the item never shows up even when returning from another activity. So, for some reason, returning from another activity bypasses setContentView(R.layout.parent) and everything works fine. I know it's impossible for me to bypass setContentView(R.layout.parent) so I need to figure out what the problem is. Also, I did not include the layout because it is nothing more then two textviews. Also, the images I have attached do not show that the missing item is the last one on the list. Custom Cursor Adapter: public class CustomCursorAdapter extends SimpleCursorAdapter { private Context context; private int layout; public CustomCursorAdapter (Context context, int layout, Cursor c, String[] from, int[] to) { super(context, layout, c, from, to); this.context = context; this.layout = layout; } public View newView(Context context, Cursor cursor, ViewGroup parent) { LayoutInflater inflater = LayoutInflater.from(context); final View view = inflater.inflate(layout, parent, false); return view; } @Override public void bindView(View v, Context context, Cursor c) { if (c.getColumnName(0).matches("section")){ int nameCol = c.getColumnIndex("section"); String section = c.getString(nameCol); TextView section_text = (TextView) v.findViewById(R.id.text1); if ((section.length() > 0)) { section_text.setText(section); } else { //so we don't have an empty spot section_text.setText(""); section_text.setVisibility(2); section_text.setHeight(1); } } else if (c.getColumnName(0).matches("code")) { int nameCol = c.getColumnIndex("code"); String mCode = c.getString(nameCol); TextView code_text = (TextView) v.findViewById(R.id.text1); } } if (c.getColumnName(1).matches("title")){ int nameCol = c.getColumnIndex("title"); String mTitle = c.getString(nameCol); TextView title_text = (TextView) v.findViewById(R.id.text2); if (title_text != null) { title_text.setText(mTitle); } } else if (c.getColumnName(1).matches("excerpt")) { int nameCol = c.getColumnIndex("excerpt"); String mExcerpt = c.getString(nameCol); TextView excerpt_text = (TextView) v.findViewById(R.id.text2); • Where is the handy designer for setting Permissions and schema diagram designer in a SQL2005 Databas

    - by BlackMael
I have just installed the GDR RTM version of Visual Studio Team System Database Edition GDR RTM. It all seems to work wonderfully, but I seem to have to edit XML (Database.sqlpermissions) for specify SQL Permissions. Am I missing something? For that matter where is the schema diagram tool? I understand GDR exposes alot for extending the Database Edition components, so am I supposed to wait for third party extensions to provide the diagram tool and permissions designer?

  • Dealing with security on IPC remoting channel

    - by leppie
Hi I am trying to run a service under a different user account from the application that will access the service via remoting. While under the same account everything is fine, but as soon as I use different accounts, I get an access denied error while trying to open the IPC port. Is there something I am missing, as I can't see from the MSDN docs what is supposed to be done. Thanks
