• Best OpenID library for Java

  I want users to be able to log into my website with OpenID, but I don't know which library to use. I know which ones are out there, but I would like to know which one would be best. I'm running JOnAS, but no web framework (no Spring, Struts, GWT, etc.). (Please don't chastise me for not using a web framework. I have my reasons.) For what it's worth, my web site is broken into multiple WARs, and I would prefer something that works well in that situation, but that's not a big deal. Does anyone have experience with the different libraries? Any experiences or wisdom you can share?

• flash as3, Error #1009

  I'm making a website that exist out of linked pages. All the pages are on the time line and all the code is in an as3 file. The first page with links works but if I want to place a link on the second frame I get the 1009 error Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. Because the link doesn't exist on the first frame.   Hi.. I'm developing a jsp/serlvet application. I have a page with a list of inputs as checkboxes . I want to send values of selected buttons to a servlet using ajax/jquery. In the servlet , I want to extract these values and use them . for example: The user checks some checkboxes , for example, list of messages. He/She presses Delete Link to delete selected messages. • How to put JFrame into existing JPanel in Java Swing?

  I have an open-source java swing application like this: http://i47.tinypic.com/dff4f7.jpg You can see in the screenshot, there is a JPanel divided into two area, left and right area. The left area has many text links. When I click the SLA Criteria link, it will pop-up the SLA Criteria window. The pop-up window is JFrame object. Now, I'm trying to put the pop-up window into right area of the JPanel, so that means no pop-up window anymore, i.e. when I click the SLA Criteria link, its contents will be displayed at the right area of the JPanel. The existing content of the right area of JPanel will not be used anymore. The example illustration (note: it's made and edited using image editor, this is not the real screenshot of working application) is like this: http://i48.tinypic.com/5vrxaa.jpg So, I would like to know is there a way to put JFrame into JPanel? I'm thinking of using JInternalFrame, is it possible? Or is there another way?   In our Intranet environment we have a decree that common assets (stylesheets, images, etc) should be fed from Apache root while Rails apps runs from from a "sub directory" (a proxy to a Mongrel cluster). (e.g. <link href="http://1.1.1.1/myapp/stylesheets/common.css"> ) Is there a way to stop this? And, more importantly, is there a best practice for how to deploy a rails app to an environment like this? (BTW, I don't want to simply hard code my asset paths since the development environment does not match the test and production environments.) Environment: Rails 2.3.4 Ruby 1.8.7 RedHat Linux 5.4?

A mail gets sent to the user and the representative with the descision of the board. Infopath? SPD? VS2010? How do I handle rights to make sure only the board can access the board edit form? What kind of workflow do I use? When do I start the workflow(s)? What do I use to develop the workflow(s)? How do I handle rights when showing the listview with all requests? How can I build the links in the mails sent to the different groups.   Hi I would like to make a list-detail view with richfaces. There will be a link for every record in the list that should open a new window containing record details. I tried to implement the link this way: <a4j:commandLink oncomplete="window.open('/pages/serviceDetail.jsf','popupWindow', 'dependent=yes, menubar=no, toolbar=no, height=500, width=400')" actionListener="#{monitoringBean.recordDetail}" value="details" /> I use <a4j:keepAlive beanName="monitoringBean" ajaxOnly="false" /> for both the list and the detail page. recordDetail method fills the data of the selected record to a variable of the bean that I would like to display on the detail page. The problem is that keepalive doesn't work, so I get new bean instance on the detail page every time. So the the previously selected record from the other bean is not accessible here. Is there a way to pass parameter (id) to the detail page to handle record selection. Or is there any way to make keepalive work? (I this this would be the easiest). Thanks

• How to disable MSBuild's <RegisterOutput> target on a per-user basis?

  I like to do my development as a normal (non-Admin) user. Our VS2010 project build fails with "Failed to register output. Please try enabling Per-user Redirection or register the component from a command prompt with elevated permissions." Since I'm not at liberty to change the project file, is there any way that I can add user-specific MSBuild targets or properties that disable this step on a specific machine, or for a specific user? I'd prefer not to hack on the core MSBuild files. I don't want to change the project file because I might then accidentally check it back in. Nor do I want to hack on the MSBuild core files, because they might get overwritten by a service pack. Given that the Visual C++ project files (and associated .targets and .props files) have about a million places to alter the build order and to import arbitrary files, I was hoping for something along those lines. MSBuild imports/evaluates the project file as follows (I've only looked down the branches that interest me): Foo.vcxproj Microsoft.Cpp.Default.props Microsoft.Cpp.props $(UserRootDir)\Microsoft.Cpp.$(Platform).user.props Microsoft.Cpp.targets Microsoft.Cpp.$(Platform).targets ImportBefore\* Microsoft.CppCommon.targets The "RegisterOutput" target is defined in Microsoft.CppCommon.targets. I was hoping to replace this by putting a do-nothing "RegisterOutput" target in $(UserRootDir)\Microsoft.Cpp.$(Platform).user.props, which is %LOCALAPPDATA%\MSBuild\v4.0\Microsoft.Cpp.Win32.user.props (UserRootDir is set in Microsoft.Cpp.Default.props if it's not already set). Unfortunately, MSBuild uses the last-defined target, which means that mine gets overridden by the built-in one. Alternatively, I could attempt to set the %(Link.RegisterOutput) metadata, but I'd have to do that on all Link items. Any idea how to do that, or even if it'll work?

• How to move point on arc?

  I am writing an app that is simulating RobotArm movement. What I want to achieve, and where I have couple of problems is moving a Point on arc (180degree) that is arm range of movement. I am moving an arm by grabbing with mouse end of arm (Elbow, the Point I was talking about), robot can have multiple arms with diffrent arm lenghts. If u can help me with this part, I'd be grateful. • [solved] IE6 PNG-transparency CSS hack not working

  I looked around and decided to use a CSS approach rather than rely on JS... I figure the kind of corporate users stuck with IE6 might also have JS disabled by IT departments. I commented out all the rest of the page so it is literally that one and still no luck. I removed the default.css stylesheet and still no difference. EDIT: I now got it working, using the .htc method, loading that file in a conditional IE6 test block. It turned out the problem I was having was that Windows 7 had 'locked' the file (I don't even know what this means) and this blocked IE from loading/using it.

• Windows Phone 7 HttpRequest Unable to see true Error Code and response details

  I have to call a somewhat broken API from a Windows Phone 7 application. The API returns a 302 error and a cookie to the authentication request. I've tried every way I've been able to find in the MSDN documentation for using ClientHTTP instead of BrowserHTTP (registering the prefix, using the call to explicitly create a ClientHTTP using Request), but the 302 is getting translated to a 404 and I'm not seeing the cookies on the response. I've tried a WebClient, I've tried an HttpRequest and it is always the translated error message. If I allocate a CookieContainer for the HttpRequest, I get a null argument exception when the client stack is parsing the returned message. I can see that the response is coming back as expected via Fiddler.

• Should I use curly brackets or concatenate variables within strings?

  Straight forward question: Is there an advantage or disadvantage to concatenating variables within strings or using curly braces instead? Concatenated: $greeting = "Welcome, ".$name."!"; Curly braces: $greeting = "Welcome, {$name}!"; Personally, I've always concatenated my strings because I use UEStudio and it highlights PHP variables a different color when concatenated. However, when the variable is not broken out, it does not. It just makes it easier for my eyes to find PHP variables in long strings, etc. EDIT: People are confusing this about being about SQL. This is not what this question is about. I've updated my examples to avoid confusion.

  I am working on a web applicaton. And what we also create is something that could be described as inline editing. Just to portray thing I am trying to solve I use example of Facebook post. You have post like. Steve Jobs added 5 new photos Steve Jobs is link that redirects to his profile so in HTML, that would be: <div class="post-block"> <p><a href="stevejobs/" title="#">Steve Jobs</a> added 5 new photos.<p> </div> But what I want is the whole post "block" to be clickable although I want only that name to appear to be link. Normally in HTML logic would say to to this: <a href="stevejobs/" title="#"><div class="post-block"> <p><a href="stevejobs/" title="#">Steve Jobs</a> added 5 new photos.<p> </div></a> But this isn't semantically correct. Quick look to HTML 4.01 or any other standard says something like this: Links and anchors defined by the A element must not be nested; an A element must not contain any other A elements. How to create it semantically correct other than using javascript and defining div:hover state for the whole "div anchor"?

• Locating SSL certificate, key and CA on server

  Disclaimer: you don't need to know Node to answer this question but it would help. I have a Node server and I need to make it work with HTTPS. As I researched around the internet, I found that I have to do something like this: var fs = require('fs'); var credentials = { key: fs.readFileSync('path/to/ssl/private-key'), cert: fs.readFileSync('path/to/ssl/cert'), ca: fs.readFileSync('path/to/something/called/CA') }; var app = require('https').createServer(credentials, handler); I have several problems with this. First off, all the examples I found use completely different approaches. Some link to .pem files for both the certificate and key. I don't know what pem files are but I know my certificate is .crt and my key is .key. Some start off at the root folder and some seem to just have these .pem files in the application directory. I don't. Some use the ca thing too and some don't. This CA is supposed to be my domain's CA bundle according to some articles - but none explain where to find this file. In the ssl directory on my server I have one .crt file in the certs directory and one .key file in the keys directory, in addition to an empty csrs directory and an ssl.db file. So, where do I find these 3 files (key, cert, ca) and how do I link to them correctly?

• European signs in img src problem

  Hey. I recently encountered a strange problem on my website. Images with æ ø and å in them (Western European signs) Won't display. The character encoding on all sites is "Iso-8859-1" I can print æ ø and å on the page without problems. If I right click the "broken image" and choose properties, it displays the filename with the european signs. (/admin/content/galleri/å.jpg) the code for img looks like this <img name='bilde' src='content/{$_SESSION["linkname"]}/{$row["img"]}' class='topmargin_ss leftmargin_ms rightmargin_s' width='80' height='80'> (Wasn't allowed to post images so the code is without starting and ending brackets) Made 4 files: z.jpg æ.jpg ø.jpg å.jpg Only z.jpg shows up, they are the exact same jpg. The images are uploaded using php code, which works, uploads to the right directory and has no problem with the european signs. Does anybody know what could be causing this?

  Just wondering how you all manage your workload effectively when there's a lot of your plate? What do you do to break it down into bite-size chunks and how do you track progress of each task? Do you find TDD helps to focus your attention of getting areas of functionality complete before moving onto the next one? I quite often find myself getting a bit overwhelmed when I have an involving task on the go (even if it can be broken down into lots of small chunks), even though I know I'm more than capable of doing the work. We have a kind of agile approach Interested to hear how everyone manages things effectively.
