  I wan't to integrate .NET Application Updater Component in my application for auto update of client application. It says The .NET Application Updater component uses HTTP-DAV to download the application update and thus requires a Web server that supports HTTP-DAV. IIS 5.0 that comes with Windows 2000 and newer operating systems support HTTP-DAV. My server is a Windows 2008 Server and runs IIS 7.0. Does IIS 7.0 support "HTTP-DAV"? And if yes how can I enable it?

• Where to set permissions to all server for logon trigger on sql server 2005

  I need to keep track of the last login time for each user in our SQL Server 2005 database. I created a trigger like this: CREATE TRIGGER LogonTimeStamp ON ALL SERVER FOR LOGON AS BEGIN IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM miscdb..user_last_login WHERE user_id = SYSTEM_USER) UPDATE miscdb..user_last_login SET last_login = GETDATE() WHERE user_id = SYSTEM_USER ELSE INSERT INTO miscdb..user_last_login (user_id,last_login) VALUES (SYSTEM_USER,GETDATE()) END; go This trigger works for servers that are system admins but it won't allow regular users to login. I have granted public select,insert and update to the table but that doesn't seem to be the issue. Is there a way to set permissions on the trigger? Is there something else I am missing? Thanks

• HID USB Very Strange Problem...

  I realy hope some one can help me here cause i search all over the web and nothing comes up.. I allways used PS/2 KB and Mouse and a USB KeyPad (Genius ErgoMedia 500 Gaming Explorer) to play some games, mmorpg, fps, you named, very good whit 11 keys whit possible macros etc etc... Now it comes the problem, i have a USB mouse that have 4 extra buttons, and i need more button, i love buttons.. Well, i plug in the USB mouse and disconectes de PS/2. Everything is ok until i toutch the mouse. If i do so, the ErgoMedia goes off, then on, then i mouse the mouse or press a button and all over again. Yesterday i went buying a new mouse that i liked, a USB mouse too (NPlay whit macros and all that stuff 3600dpi...) Hoping the problem was only whit the other mouse, but no.. It does the exact same thing, ErgoMedia keeps disconecting and conecting everytime i toutch the mouse. What i allready did: Update drivers of both mouses Update drivers of ErgoMedia (no specific drivers(Windows based)) Update drivers of MB Chipset (Actualy no, cause it was up to date allready) Trying other USB Ports (4 Ports back, 4 Ports Front and even 1 Port in 16 card slot device) Disable the "Allows Windows to shut down the energy bla bla" thing in Device Setings. Look up in the Device Setings only apear a problem on the ergomedia (Human interface Device) when i move the damm mouse.. Using Everest to read behavier, everything normal, exepts the disconecting thing, but no errors. Not a power suply, only the ErgoMedia and the mouse are in the USBs, and i allready disable the 16 card reader whit one usb slot to see.. Clean the IRQ registry. Look the entire internet for a fix solution. Help others problems wile looking for a fix for me (Im not a pro but not a completly stupid) Talking to you beggin you to help me as a last resorce... Machine: Acer M3641 Core2Quad 64x Based OS Vista 64b 4GbRAM HD Audio and Graphics I realy hope some one out there knows a fix for this, maybe it´s a simple thing, so simple that i´m to stupid to see that..   I have a bash script that I have added as a startup application. Even when I run the script straight into the terminal like so: ./setup.sh I see the "DONE!" prompt printed but no aliases or env variables are set. If I copy and paste the contents of the file into the terminal the aliases and env variables are set. I have tried adding a line to execute the script from .bashrc also but still no aliases or env variables set. Any ideas what might be going on here? Also could anyone suggest a better way to have these env variables/aliases added to every terminal session?

• Why does this package (ppa:ondrej/php5, it's PHP 5.5) break the apache2 installation?

  Problem Currently this package (ppa:ondrej/php5) is quite popular for installing the latest version of PHP 5.5. I've worked quite much with it, and everything ran smoothy, on several (dev) servers. But from today (?) this breaks the apache2 installation (it empties the /etc/apache2/sites-available/default file). This is reproduceable. Way to reproduce (on naked Ubuntu 64 12.04 LTS) // basic installs sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install apache2 sudo apt-get install php5 Apache is fine, nano /etc/apache2/sites-available/default has valid content now // getting PHP 5.5.x sudo apt-get install python-software-properties (for add-apt-repository) sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ondrej/php5 sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install php5 // php -v shows successful install of PHP 5.5.x now Apache is broken, nano /etc/apache2/sites-available/default is empty now Question Why does this happen ? According to https://launchpad.net/~ondrej/+archive/php5 there were no changes in the last few days.

Before Here is the standard look for search results at Google…not bad but it really does not stand out that well either. Installing the User Script You may be asking yourself what makes this particular user script different from others. Take a look at the list of goodies that you get access to and you will understand: Multiple columns of results Removes “Sponsored Links” Add numbers to the results Auto-load more results Removes web search dialogues Open links in a new tab Favicons GooglePreview Self updating Can be configured from a simple user dialogue To get started click on the Webpage Install Button. Once you have clicked on GoogleMonkeyR Preferences the search page will be shaded out and you will have access to the user script’s preferences. A look at the entire page of results with our browser maximized and set for two columns. • SQL Azure Service Issues &ndash; 10.27.2012 (Restored Now)

  Please note that if you have a Windows Azure website, or use SQL Azure, your site may be experiencing downtime currently.  Notice I just called in regarding one of my public facing internet sites, because the site was failing to load anything but its error page, I couldn’t connect to the database to inspect application error logs, and the Windows Azure Management portal won’t load the SQL Azure extension. After speaking to the representative, he also mentioned that they were also having some problems updating the Service Dashboard which shows service up/down time, and for now, they are posting messages at http://account.windowsazure.com.  Please note that this issue may only be effecting certain regions.  Last, I may have misheard the representative, but he said that the outage was being categorized as a level 8, and if I heard correctly, I think he said that level 8 was the worst level.  I can’t say for sure on this though, because the phone connection to their support number was bad – large amounts of white noise. Good Luck! Update It appears that this outage may also be effecting the following services: SQL Database, Service Bus, Datamarket, Windows Azure Marketplace, Shared Caching, Access Control 2.0, and SQL Reporting. The note on the account page says for the South Central US region, however, I believe the representative I spoke to also mentioned North Central. As I said before though, the connection was bad. Update 2 My site regained connectivity about an hour ago, and it appears that the service dashboard is back in operation with correct status and history. It does appear that I misheard on the phone regarding multiple regions, so chances are this only effected a percentage of the platform. All in all, if this WAS their worst level of a problem, they really got it fixed and back up pretty fast. All in all, I understand that it is inherent for a complex system such as Azure to have ups and downs, but at the end of the day, I am still happy to support Azure to its fullest!

Update 2: Modifying the LD_LIBRARY_PATH had no effect on the lib-deps of mod_ssl.so. UPDATE 3: I've compiled and recompiled many times, and verified with ldconfig that the OpenSSL libs dir is in my path, and included in ld.so.conf. Still cannot get httpd/mod_ssl to load the library at runtime.

• Google Fonts API JSON Data in WordPress Options-Framework-Theme

  I'm developing a child-theme off of the new Twenty Twelve theme using Wordpress 3.4.2 and the development version of the Options Theme Framework by Devin Price. In Devin's tutorial, it shows of a way to implement 15 Google Web Fonts into the Theme Options page, but not all of them (roughly 560). I know I can create a "manual list", like in the tutorial that states each one with fallbacks, but this is time consuming and unproductive as Google may or may not add to, update, change or remove some of these fonts from their list. The list I've created above will ultimately store unavailable fonts the user thinks is there because of what they can see in the drop-down menu and it won't have any new ones - making the list and some selections obsolete. On the Google Developer API Web Fonts page, it talks briefly on retrieving a "dynamic list" using JSON/JavaScript. I was wondering how would I be able to pull the Google Web Fonts API into my Wordpress Theme Options page so I'm not creating my own list or have to constantly release an update to solve this issue. Could someone please walk me through what I would need to paste into my options.php, functions.php, /inc/options-framework.php file etc. or even in a new one to implement this? I've also had a look into some screencasts, plugins and tutorials on how it works, but none of them are specific enough for people just starting out. Please keep in mind I'm not the best coder...   I followed this link on how to create my own yum repository for base install and update purposes. If you notice, why would I need a 5 folder on top of 5.4? My installation at the moment is all 5.4, so when I ran "yum update" it wanted to go to http://domain.com/5/... instead of picking up the 5.4 directory. Is 5 basically 5.4 w/ the most updated packages for that tree? meaning, if 5.5 comes out, 5 would be the latest and greatest and if I wanted to track 5.4, I would still need a 5.4 folder to track changes with?

• Events and objects being skipped in GameMaker

  Update: Turns out it's not an issue with this code (or at least not entirely). Somehow the objects I use for keylogging and player automation (basic ai that plays the game) are being 'skipped' or not loaded about half the time. These are invisible objects in a room that have basic effects such are simulating button presses, or logging them. I don't know how to better explain this problem without putting up all my code, so unless someone has heard of this issue I guess I'll be banging my head against the desk for a bit /Update I've been continuing work on modifying Spelunky, but I've run into a pretty major issue with GameMaker, which I hope is me just doing something wrong. I have the code below, which is supposed to write log files named sequentially. It's placed in a End Room event such that when a player finishes a level, it'll write all their keypress's to file. Also, if anyone can tell me of a better way to have sequentially numbered log files that would also be great. Log files have to continue counting over multiple start/stops of the game.

• Ubuntu 12.04 LTS loops the login screen unless you login as Guest

  I am running a VMWare Player with a Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangloin as Guest on my Windows 7. Sometimes I get the shutdown blue screen error in Windows, this time it happened when I was running the Player. When I restarted everything Ubuntu gave the not so unfamiliar in this forum Login Loop in adminstrator login. I login and there's this black screen where I can only read: "piix4...smbus:0.0.0.07.3 Host Smbus controller not enabled" . When I go to the Prompt in root mode it fails to update and only upgraded, specially some plugins ( I think graphic plugins) which also appear in one an error message after quitting the prompt, but they´are successfully installed. They are not the error message. After that I have been working with the Fail/safe Mode recovery panel. When I try to update via Root I get errors like this: W:failed to fetch http://extras.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise/release.gpg could not resolve 'extras/ubuntu.com There are 8 more like this referring to areas like: -archive/canonical.com -ppa.Launchpad.net -security.Ubuntu.com -Us.archive.ubuntu.com - release.gpg precise-updates/release.gpg precise_backport/release.gpg Final Message: some index files failed to download.....they have been ignored or old files are used. The black screens most of the time pass by too fast for me to pick up any information. But in general I think I have done everything I was able to in the recovery panel including updating network and graphic packages and recovering filesystem packages and the basic stuff ( I am a beginner regarding Linux ) in the root prompt. Now I am stuck in this screen with graphic options: - Run in low-graphics mode just for one session - Reconfigure Graphics - Troubleshoot the error - Exit to console login I am trying to choose to reconfigure graphics but the mouse disappears in the virtual machine screen and sometimes when options change ity´s only the first and last option. ut this happens from the blue without messages. This particular option menu is in the regular GUI style against a black screen in Terminal style. Really strange. Thanx in advance, all is welcome and appreciated.

• Acer Aspire 3820TG video card driver issue for Windows 8 Pro

  The model for Acer laptop is ATI mobility Radeon 5650. I am using Windows 8 Pro from MSDN. It was working fine until two days ago when Microsoft pushes an update. After the update, my video card stops working and I only see black screen after loading splash screen. I can go in Safe Mode. I tried to install driver from AMD website but it failed with error message "load detection driver failed". Anyone else have the same issue? Any idea how to solve this? I need to go in Win8 for my latest development.

• Why binding is not a native feature in most of the languages?

  IMHO binding a variable to another variable or an expression is a very common scenario in mathematics. In fact, in the beginning, many students think the assignment operator(=) is some kind of binding. But in most of the languages, binding is not supported as a native feature. In some languages like C#, binding is supported in some cases with some conditions fulfilled. But IMHO implementing this as a native feature was as simple as changing the following code- int a,b,sum; sum := a + b; a = 10; b = 20; a++; to this- int a,b,sum; a = 10; sum = a + b; b = 20; sum = a + b; a++; sum = a + b; Meaning placing the binding instruction as assignments after every instruction changing values of any of the variable contained in the expression at right side. After this, trimming redundant instructions (or optimization in assembly after compilation) will do. So, why it is not supported natively in most of the languages. Specially in the C-family of languages? Update: From different opinions, I think I should define this proposed "binding" more precisely- This is one way binding. Only sum is bound to a+b, not the vice versa. The scope of the binding is local. Once the binding is established, it cannot be changed. Meaning, once sum is bound to a+b, sum will always be a+b. Hope the idea is clearer now. Update 2: I just wanted this P# feature. Hope it will be there in future.

• Updating drivers on a Lenovo T410

  I have a few question regarding updating the drivers on my Lenovo T410. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed with a 32 bit(X86) sub directory. I'm not that familiar with updating drivers on 64bit Windows so I'm wondering if I should install both 32/64 bit driver versions instead of just 64 bit. Another question I have is Lenovo specific. On the support page for my device, there is a list of Windows updates available dating back to 2009, however I do have ThinkVantage update manager installed and it checks for Windows updates weekly. Should I install all of the Windows specific updates, or can I rely on update manager? My last question is if I should install the drivers for the T410 in any specific order? Any help is much appreciated as I haven't been able to find answers to these specific questions here, or by googling. Thanks in advance

• GPO Software Uninstall Not Taking Place

  I am having some trouble with my software GPO's and can't seem to find any answers using Google. I successfully deployed software using my policy but when I delete another, the uninstallation of the software does not take place. What I did: Deployed software using a GPO, used gpupdate /force on the workstation to update, reboot, and install the software Deleted another software installation by: Right-Click All Tasks Remove 'Immediately uninstall the software from users and computers' From there, I did another gpupdate /force to try and get the GPO to refresh and uninstall the software on the workstation. This did not work. I then forced replication between my domain controllers and ran another gpupdate /force on the workstation and this did not uninstall the software. There are not error logs or indications that the uninstall is being triggered when I go into the event viewer, and I know for a fact that the policy is working in other aspects. So my questions is: Where do I look next to find the answer as to why GPO software deployments are working but un-installations are not, based off of what I have already tried? Thank you in advance. UPDATE: After using gpresult /z, there is no indication of a pending un-installation or removal of software. Under the section entitled "Software Installations", the software I am trying to uninstall is not listed. There is no other indication that the software I am trying to uninstall even exists. I also turned on RSoP logging and did (yet another) gpupdate /force to yield no blatant results. There is no indication that an uninstall event was even triggered, let alone incapability or failure. Although I am sure I marked it to uninstall in case of two events (the falling out of the scope of management, as well as the removal of the entry), I am beginning to think the entry just never triggered something that should have been triggered. UPDATE #2: After troubleshooting this (frustrating) application assignment, I have chalked it up as a fluke. I have tested with other software to make sure that the uninstall of other application assignments is actually working, so I am assuming it is something related to the package directly. There is the possibility that my problem resides in something related to what @joeqwerty linked in a comment below but because I can't go back in time, I don't think I will be able to prove it. I will probably be running a script via another GPO to guarantee the un-installation of left over package installs. For now, Evan Anderson is getting the answer because of the debugging information I was able to put to good use. Thank you to everyone that helped contribute so far!

• Idea of an algorithm to detect a website's navigation structure?

  Currently I am in the process of developing an importer of any existing, arbitrary (static) HTML website into the upcoming release of our CMS. While the downloading the files is solved successfully, I'm pulling my hair off when it comes to detect a site structure (pages and subpages) purely from the HTML files, without the user specifying additional hints. Basically I want to get a tree like: + Root page 1 + Child page 1 + Child page 2 + Child child page1 + Child page 3 + Root page 2 + Child page 4 + Root page 3 + ... I.e. I want to be able to detect the menu structure from the links inside the pages. This has not to be 100% accurate, but at least I want to achieve more than just a flat list. I thought of looking at multiple pages to see similar areas and identify these as menu areas and parse the links there, but after all I'm not that satisfied with this idea. My question: Can you imagine any algorithm when it comes to detecting such a structure? Update 1: What I'm looking for is not a web spider, but an algorithm do create a logical tree of the relationship of the pages to be able to create pages and subpages inside my CMS when importing them. Update 2: As of Robert's suggestion I'll solve this by starting at the root page, and then simply parse links as you go and treat every link inside a page simply as a child page. Probably I'll recurse not in a deep-first manner but rather in a breadth-first manner to get a more balanced navigation structure.

• Performance Overhead of Encrypted /home

  I have a netbook with Windows on the second partition and Xubuntu (/ and /home) on the third partition. I selected to encrypt my home folder during installation. The performance of the netbook is adequate for the small machine that it is, but I'm looking to improve performance. I could not find much information about the overhead (CPU or drive) associated with home partition encryption. I ran the following, writing to my home partition as well as the the mounted Windows partition: dd if=/dev/zero of=~/dummy bs=512 count=10240 dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/Windows/dummy bs=512 count=10240 The first returned 2.4MB/s and the second returned 2.5MB/s. Can I therefore deduce that there is very little overhead to home folder encryption? I'm not sure if the different filesystems will make any difference (/ and /home are ext3). Update 1 I don't know why I didn't use /tmp instead of the mounted Windows folder. Only /home is encrypted, so /tmp is unencrypted ext3. The results of the dd as above are astounding: ~: 2.4 MB/s /tmp: 42.6 MB/s Comments please? The reason I am asking this is that disk access on the netbook is noticeably slow.
