We've all done them, the short fix that will get the system back up and running until we can Do The Right Thing.
What have you marked in your code with the dreaded //Hack comment?
I was coding in NetBeans (PHP) today, and my hand slipped while I was typing a constructor. It must have hit a keyboard shortcut, because a constructor that was designed for a child class appeared on my screen (i.e. it called the parent constructor, so it's not the Insert Code -> Constructor, I don't think). Does anyone know what the shortcut is?
A buddy of mine has been getting this error mesage when trying to run uninstall programs andor new program apps, windows just shows "ShellExecuteEx failed; code 18" and refuses to run the program.
It's trivial to make a program executable from shell - just put #!/usr/bin/ruby on top, chmod +x it and done. Unfortunately OSX won't let me associate file type with such scripts - it requires its .apps instead. This sort of distinction doesn't seem to exist on other operating systems.
What's the simplest way of making such .app, which would merely execute some arbitrary Ruby code?
Where can I find code to parse URL queries in C++?
For example: "id=34&name=test&size=367"
And something like 'getvalue(parser_query, "name")' that returns 'test'.
Thanks.
Inserting (pasting from clipboard) of text constants in the Delphi code editor requires some manual "postprocessing" ...
split up long text into multiple lines (and insert the string concatenation symbol)
escape quotes (replace single quotes with double quotes)
enclose the string with quotes
keep original white space (leadinng blanks, line feeds)
Is there a IDE plugin available which helps to reduce these manual steps?
I tried to find source code for this kind of ajax game:
http://www.pitstreet.com/cgi-bin/pitstreet/pitgame.pl?lang=en&game=6&level=5
Some info:
The objective is to swap image with another with 3 same images or more in row (vertical or horizontal)
Maybe someone willing help me?
I'm using Crystal to display the reports in my project, and I'd like to be able to display a small preview or thumbnail image of the report to the user when he or she is picking a report to display from my UI. Is there any way to produce these thumbnails dynamically from code?
The user has the option to add or remove reports by adding or removing them from the reports folder, so just making all the thumbnail images by hand isn't really an option.
Are there any aspects to the C++ programming language where the code is known to be slower than the equivalent C language? Obviously this would be excluding the OO features like virtual functions and vtable features etc.
I am wondering whether, when you are programming in a latency-critical area (and you aren't worried about OO features) whether you could stick with basic C++ or would C be better?
Hi there.
I have an existing webapp created in PHP and would like to embed some of the PHP code into some WordPress pages.
What's the best WordPress plugin for that?
In Adobe Flash, I have a movie clip that is added to the stage when the keyboard is pressed. I want it to travel across the screen and disappear once it reaches the edge of the stage. At the moment I use this but the image appears and then stops. Here is my code:
addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE,runtime);
var c = 0
function runtime(){
while(this.x<800){
this.x += 12;
}
removeChild(this);
}
Thanks
Hi all.

you click Add Jars button, you will see the JAR Selection dialog.
I like to open this JAR Selection dialog on my plugin code.
How to open this?
I have a site that I'm optimizing using Google Website Optimizer where the goal is to have someone click on a link to download some software. But the google optimizer code that's provided will get triggered on any page where the link is on. Is there any way to have it execute only when someone actually clicks the download button? Thanks so much!

Hi guys,
I'm trying to work out an app design in my head and I would like the user to be able to click there destination address on the map of there area.
If I know the user is in Liverpool is it possible to pop up the map over liverpool and then allow the user to select on the map where they wanna go, and the google map/api return the street or the name of the area?
I've never used googlemap/api yet so just wondering if this kind of thing is possible on the iphone yet.
Many Thanks

I'm not sure what happened, but my installer is in a weird state--when I install my MSI, it doesn't seem to be running the current version of the code (I'm using Custom Actions). I verified it by placing some MessageBox.Shows and sure enough, they are not popping up.
It's possible I may have had a few unsuccessful installs previously which may have put the installer in a bad state...but how do I go about resolving this?
Thanks...
Is it possible to compile C++ program into some intermediate stage (similar to bytecode in java) where the output is platform independent and than later compile/link at runtime to run in native (platform dependent) code?
If answer is no, why?
Well, I'm planning on releasing a Jar into the world but would prefer if the code was not readably available to anyone with a Java Decompiler as I want to control access to the program with usernames / auth codes etc.
After some Googling I haven't found any software to do this for me, so I was wondering what steps to take from here; if anyone can point me at any software or information on methodologies of obscurification I would be grateful.
Cheers again Stack Overflow.

Where can I find the source code of something like this (Google Map API):

What's the easiest way of marking spots in a Google Map API (embedded in my web site), according to a list of places and dates?
Anyone know of a web service or something out there that I could give a zip code and get a time zone back?
Or is that something I just need to write myself? If so, any hints or guides on how to do that?
