  • Converting linear colors to SRGB shows banding in FFmpeg

    When I convert an EXR file sequence with x264 using FFmpeg and convert the colorspace from linear to SRGB (with gamma 0.45454545) I get some heavy banding issues (most visible on a dark gradient).   • XRDP errors when trying to use sesman-x11rdp

    I've just installed Ubuntu 11.10 Desktop on an old laptop of mine and I wanted to set it up so I could remote into it from my windows desktop. I've installed XRDP, but when I attempt to login using sesman-x11rdp it logs in, then the window shuts down.     I am trying to get ldaps to work through Apache 2.2.17 (Windows Server 2008). If I use ldap (plain text) my configuration works great.   • Samba: share home directories when home directories are symbolic links

    I have set up a new Ubuntu 9.10 system for five users. In the system is a large LVM volume where all the data is to be kept. The main system disk is not for this purpose, so I attempted to move the home directories using usermod -d /var/data/username -m And started creating my shares for these new home locations. But then I thought: hey, Samba has built-in home directory sharing! So I enabled that, and it didn't work. The shares were not published to the network. Only the share for user 'owen' was published; his folder hadn't been moved.   • CloneZilla PXE Boot Without NFS

    I am trying to setup CloneZilla to be bootable via PXE without using NFS. I do not have NFS running on our PXE server and would like to keep it that way. However, most of the information that I have found online indicates that you need to setup NFS in order to PXE boot CloneZilla. I believe that I am pretty close in getting it to work, but am not sure where to go next. Listed below are the different PXE menu option configurations that I have used so far. It looks like it gets to the point of trying to load the filesystem.squashfs file, hangs, and then throws the error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    This one is driving me nuts. Hoping someone can shed some light. I'm running windows 7 using onboard audio. It's been fine for over 2 years but lately there's a problem every time I play audio. I hear a small soft burst of static and the volume turns itself down from 50% to 23%. Once at 23%, it plays fine. No related events logged in viewer. No reported problems with the device. Different headphones, same problem. I played around with audio settings for hours but the problem persists. EDIT: ok more info: Motherboard: ECS G31T-M LGA775 System info displays this: Name High Definition Audio Device Manufacturer Microsoft Status OK PNP Device ID HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_1106&DEV_E721&SUBSYS_10192683&REV_1001\4&3D4E739&0&0001 Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\hdaudio.sys (6.1.7600.16385, 297.00 KB (304,128 bytes), 14/07/2009 9:51 AM) I'll keep adding info as I find it. The question I want resolved is; Is it faulty hardware? If so, I can buy a sound card. I can't imagine software is responsible since I haven't installed anything new for weeks. Virus scans are clear as well. The static burst is irritating to say the least. Tried 2 different headphones and separate speakers. Same problem. I know it's not an easy problem but I was hoping someone had encountered the same thing.

  • Unable to stop chrome.exe *32

    So I was installing roboform today and was unable to stop the process chrome.exe *32... Even when I uninstalled chrome. This is the error I got: I used lockhunter and it said it was located in %appdata%\Local\Google\Chrome. However, it was unable to unlock, delete or rename. When I use explorer to delete or rename that folder, it says it's being used by Chrome. Even after restarting my computer it still does this. I've tried using the built in chrome task manager (Wrench View Background Pages) and I can't seem to find a process there that has the same amount of memory. I have run many, many virus scans, by: Microsoft security essentials AVG (Free version) Malwarebytes (Pro version) Norton 360 (Pro version) McAfee (Pro Version) Avira (Free version) Avast! Antivirus (Free version) None of which returned with any viruses.   • Selenium server causes crazy load on server - how to prevent?

    I'm running this linux: Linux host.themepark.com 2.6.32-220.4.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jan 24 02:13:44 GMT 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux And I run the Selenium stand-alone server on my box with this command: java -jar /home/l/cron/selenium-server-standalone-2.24.1.jar > /logs/selenium.log 2>&1 & Here's the problem: as soon as I do that, the server load starts skyrocketing. I even went back and downloaded older versions of the Selenium server, but same results with 2.23.1, 2.23.0, and 2.19.0. Note that the server load starts going nuts before I issue ANY commands to Selenium or do anything else. All I'm doing is firing up the server, per the command above. This used to work perfectly on my server without causing massive server load, so something has changed, but I'm not sure what. My server is a managed VPS so I don't know if there is some kind of auto-update script that kicked in or what... but it's a problem. (Incidentally, even though the server load climbs like crazy, everything still works: after firing up Selenium, my server creates a screen with Xvfb so Firefox will be happy, then a PHP script talks to Selenium to do what it needs to do before shutting everything down. It takes a LONG time, and the load gets all the way up to 8 [!!!] before it is finished, which kills my web server and makes the main site horribly unresponsive... but it does get everything done.) Any suggestions for what is going on, why it's started doing this and/or, most importantly, how I can make Selenium not kill the server when it starts up... would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Hi, I have a pair of ProCurve 2810-24G that I will use with a Dell Equallogic SAN and Vmware ESXi. Since ESXi does MPIO, I am a little uncertain on the configuration for links between the switches. Is a trunk the right way to go between the switches? I know that the ports for the SAN and the ESXi hosts should be untagged, so does that mean that I want tagged VLAN on the trunk ports?   • HP Procurve Issue Passing Multiple VLANs over a link

    Just to start off with I am a Cisco guy that got placed into an HP project. Basic topology overview from outside in: ASA 5505 with two Ethernet connections to a 2910-24 port switch. This switch is then (Cisco Trunking) to a 2626 switch passing vlan (1 untagged and 100 tagged)between them. I created SVI's on each of the switches for both VLAN's for testing purposes. I can not get vlan 100 to pass across this link. I also have trunks configured to AP's off of the switch and can not ping the vlan 100 BVI on the AP's but can reach the vlan 1 BVI. Port 25 on Access layer (2626) connects (trunks) with port A1 of 2610. STP is not running at all on any switch (this is not my network I can't change this nor did I design this) Distribution Sw: MP1-0# show run ip default-gateway 10.100.100.100 vlan 1 name "DATA" untagged 1-22,24-A1,B1 ip address 10.100.100.6 255.255.255.0 no untagged 23 exit vlan 100 name "GUEST" untagged 23 tagged 24-A1 ip address 10.100.102.6 255.255.255.0 exit Access Sw: ip default-gateway 10.100.100.100 vlan 1 name "DEFAULT_VLAN" untagged 1-26 ip address 10.100.100.5 255.255.255.0 exit vlan 100 name "GUEST" ip address 10.100.102.5 255.255.255.0 tagged 15,25 exitt From the ASA I can ping the vlan 100 address of the 2610 but not the 2626 (10.100.102.6)[Not passing the "trunk"] If I plug into an access port vlan 100 of the 2626 I can ping the SVI for vlan 100 as intended. I can not ping across the "trunk" over vlan 100 but I can across vlan 1. There may be something obvious I'm missing but please review my configuration and thank you for the assistance.

    I'm running into trouble mounting an iPod on a newly upgraded Debian Squeeze. I suspect either a protocol has changed or I've tickled a bug, which I don't know where to report. I'm trying to mount the iPod so that I have permission to read and write it.   • Best Practical RT, sorting email into queues automatically using procmail

    I'm trying to get incoming e-mail to automatically go directly into whichever queue/ticket they are related to or create a new one if none exist and the right queue e-mail setup in the web interface is used. I will have too many queues to have two line items within mailgate per queue. A similar issue was discussed here (http://serverfault.com/questions/104779/procmail-pipe-to-program-otherwise-return-error-to-sender), but I thought it best to open a new case instead of tagging on what appeared to be an answer to that person's query. I'm able to send and receive e-mail (via PostFix) to the default rt user and this user successfully accepts all e-mail for the relative domain. I have no idea where the e-mail goes - it's successfully delivered, but it does not update existing tickets (with a Subject line match) and it does not create any new.   • Identifying and Resolving Oracle ITL Deadlock

    I have an Oracle DB package that is routinely causing what I believe is an ITL (Interested Transaction List) deadlock. The relevant portion of a trace file is below. As far as I can tell, the lack of "Rows waited on" plus the "S" in the Waiter waits column likely indicates that this is an ITL deadlock. Also, the table is written to quite often (roughly 8 insert or updates concurrently, as often as 240 times a minute), so and ITL deadlock seems like a strong possibility. I've increased the INITRANS parameter of the table and it's indexes to 100 and increased the PCT_FREE on the table from 10 to 20 (then rebuilt the indexes), but the deadlocks are still occurring. The deadlock seems to happen most often during an update, but that could just be a coincidence, as I've only traced it a couple of times. My questions are two-fold: 1) Is this actually an ITL deadlock? 2) If it is an ITL deadlock, what else can be done to avoid it? Cross-posted from Stack Overflow. Deadlocks are normally a programming problem, but ITL deadlocks relate directly to how Oracle writes to disk, so this may be an area where DBAs have more experience.
