• Set Idle Time in Ubuntu 12.04 Server

  I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 Server and am looking for away for get the server to suspend after an idle time. When using the desktop version I could use the Gnome powersaving tool to specify the idle time. As I have no GUI on the server is there a way to set the server idle time via the commandline/config file? I will send the server a wake-on-lan packet to wake it up, if it is suspended and I need to use it.

  I apologise if this question is too similar to the numerous others already asked, but I'm a beginner and I really need your help. So...I've installed Ubuntu 12.10 a few days ago and I have only been able to get up to one hour of battery life. When running Windows 7 I get up to 3-4 hours. My screen is ultra bright, even tough the screen brightness is set to the minimum (I installed xcalib to dim my screen, but it doesn't improve the battery life) I read about Jupiter and installed it, but it doesn't have a noticeable effect.   Possible Duplicate: Problem with ubuntu 12.04 I am new to Ubuntu. I've installed 12.04 version of Ubuntu. It works fine but sometimes when i shutdown my PC from Ubuntu and when I try to start it again,nothing shows on the screen. It's always black screen instead of Acer logo (I have Acer aspire 5573) and the system restart again and again but and doesn't allow me to choose a OS (Ubuntu/windows,i use dualboot) To fix this I have to remove the battery and put it again.Then everything works fine. How do i fix this issue? I think that could be a incompatibility with the PC because everything works fine with windows. Thanks!

• xset: unable to open display

  for the longest time after about 5 minutes my screen would blank out. Now the screen will go blank after 5 minutes but then 2 seconds after that it will light up white and keep the laptop backlighting on. I didnt change any settings to my knowledge it just happened randomly after powering it on one day and has occurred since then. I wish to resort back to blanking the screen out completely since i leave this computer on all the time and its hard to sleep with a huge white light all the time.   While I was looking for a battery management utility for my Dell E5420, I came to read this post - How can I limit battery charging to 80% capacity? . Sofar, I haven't found one that relates to my laptop. So, I wonder now if any battery manager utility can be found for my laptop specified above. I would be happy if someone could point me if such utility is available under Ubuntu 12.04 that can stop charging a battery at a certain percentage and to ONLY use A/C mode. Again, to start using battery mode when the A/C is off or when the battery level reaches at certain level. Thanks for all your help. Elim.

  Hello! I am currently working on a project where I need to generate multiple values (floats or doubles preferably) that follow a power law distribution with a given exponent! I was advised to use the MathNet.Iridium library to help me. The problem I have is that the documentation is not as explicit as it should be if there is any! I see multiple distributions that fit the general idea of the power law distribution but I cannot pinpoint a good distribution to use with a certain exponent as a parameter. Does anybody have more experience in that matter and could give me some hints or advice?

The result is: the preview is stuck with the image that was last captured before button was pressed. If I rotate it works fine again, since it will get through the lifecycle. After some research I found out that this is probably due to the fact that surfaceView won't get destroyed when the power-button is pressed, i.e. SurfaceHolder.Callback.surfaceDestroyed(SurfaceHolder holder) won't be called. And in fact when I compare the (very verbose) log output of the home-button-case and the power-button-case it's the same except that 'surfaceDestroyed' won't get called. So far I found no solution whatsoever to work around it. I purposely avoid any resource cleaning code in my surfaceDestroyed(), but this does not help. My idea was to manually destroy the surfaceView like asked in this question but this seems not possible. I also tested other applications with surfaceViews/cameras and they don't seem to have this issue. So I would appreciate any hints or tips on that.

• Saving Email/Password to Keychain in iOS

  I'm very new to iOS development so forgive me if this is a newbie question. I have a simple authentication mechanism for my app that takes a user's email address and password. I also have a switch that says 'Remember me'. If the user toggles that switch on, I'd like to preserve their email/password so those fields can be auto-populated in the future. I've gotten this to work with saving to a plist file but I know that's not the best idea since the password is unencrypted. I found some sample code for saving to the keychain, but to be honest, I'm a little lost. For the function below, I'm not sure how to call it and how to modify it to save the email address as well. • Office 2013 OCT unhandled exception when saving .RSP

  I'm trying to prepare a deployment of office 2013 pro plus. If I deploy an existing .rsp file that was left behind by the old analyst (typing from the client): PS C: \\deploybox\software\Office2013\setup.exe /adminfile \\deploybox\software\Office2013\SWKS.MSP Things seem to deploy just fine. if I make any changes to the .rsp file by doing (all from the client): PS C: \\deploybox\software\Office2013\setup.exe /admin * Open SWKS.MSP * Make changes * Save under a different name SWKS1.MSP I get the following errorbox: Unhandled Exception: MsiGetSummaryInformation call failed. And if I try to deploy the new SWKS1.MSP, PS C: \\deploybox\software\Office2013\setup.exe /adminfile \\deploybox\software\Office2013\SWKS1.MSP it fails with the message: Path or file specified with /adminfile did not contain any customization patches that apply to this product or platform. If I even open the old known good .rsp file SWKS.MSP, and immediately save it as a new name SWKS1.MSP, making no changes, then the same thing happens. So what stupid newbie mistake am I making here?   I installed IIS 7.5 (Windows 7) on two different PCs, one PC saves configuration to applicationHost.config and the other to web.config! Screenshot: As you can see, the PC on the left does not contain the settings (they are stored in applicationHost.config) and the PC to the right does in fact store the settings in web.config. I have not and hope not to modify the configuration files by hand and would like to do it using IIS Manager only. Does anyone know why this happens or if there is some setting to force configuration to the web.config file? Thank you. Edit: I am adding a screenshot of the applicationHost.config file (PC on the left) demonstrating how the configuration is stored in it instead of inside the web.config file.

• Diagnosing laptop charging issues

  My HP dv6000 laptop will not run on battery power. It will only run while plugged into the wall. I have already replaced the battery, but it still will not operate on battery power. The problem began slowly. The original battery's life got shorter and shorter, until eventually it would only last ~45 seconds before going into hibernation. Finally, the battery would not work at all, so I threw it out and just used it without a battery. I bought a replacement recently.... but the problem persists. When I connect the new battery to the system, the "charging" light turns on for about 30 seconds, then goes dark. I'm assuming there's something wrong with the internal charging circuitry? If this is the case, how would I go about fixing this, short of buying a new motherboard? If anyone could give me some assistance in confirming/rejecting my diagnosis I'd be very appreciative! :)

  Within our corporate SharePoint 2007 site, there is a particular form library that contains 10 separate files. 9 of these are either Excel, Word, or PowerPoint files and one of these is an InfoPath 2007 form that serves as a report. After noticing an error within this InfoPath form, I saved this InfoPath form to my local directory and then, within the design mode of InfoPath, I modified this InfoPath form. What is the proper way to save this modified InfoPath form to its form library? Everything that I have tried results in nobody except myself having access to this modified InfoPath form. I can open this InfoPath form without error but when my coworkers try to open this InfoPath form on their machines, they receive this error: “The form cannot be opened because it requires the domain permission level and it currently has restricted permission. To fix this problem, open the form from the location it was published to."

• Prestashop is not saving Memcached settings

  I have a issue with the admin site of prestashop. I'm trying to activate the caching system but it doesn't save the setting. When I add a server (I'm using an Amazon ElasticCache server) saves it, but when I select the enable option and click Save, it redirects me to "Back Office Preferences Performance" but with a blank page and the admin tabs visible. I go back to those settings again and i see that the caching option is disabled. Also, there is a warning: "To use Memcached, you must install the Memcache PECL extension on your server. http://www.php.net/manual/en/memcache.installation.php" , even if i already installed memcached via yum. I tried also, by modifying the settings.inc.php file editing define('_PS_CACHE_ENABLED_', '0'); to: define('_PS_CACHE_ENABLED_', '1'); But i get 500 Internal Server Error in every page, so i prefer to leave it as before. Any ideas? I'm using PrestaShop 1.4.6.2 with Nginx 1.0.11 and PHP-FPM 5.3.8 in a CentOS 5.7 system.
