  While there's documentation available on Apache environmental variables, I can not find answer to one important question. Imagine I use rewrite rules to set environmental variable RewriteRule ... ... [E=something:1] What is the scope of "something" - global Apache server (this means "something" will be available for other request transactions), this request (means that "something" is only valid for THIS http request (and its related processing - but what's about internal redirects and other internal stuff - are they considered as THIS request, or another one?), and may be set differently within another (concurrent) request?

• Perl Moose::Util::TypeConstraints bug ? what is this error about the name has invalid chars ?

  That has been hours i am tracking a Moose::Util::TypeConstraints exceptions, i don't understand where it gets to check a type and tells me that the name is incorrect. I tracked the error to a reduced example to try to locate the problem, and it just shows me that i do not get it.   Hi, I have a HTML file which contains the following: <img src="MATCH1" bla="blabla"> <something:else bla="blabla" bla="bla"><something:else2 something="something"> <something image="MATCH2" bla="abc"> Now I need a regex to match both MATCH1 and MATCH2 Also the HTML contains multiple parts like this, so it can be in the HTML 1, 2, 3 of x times.. I've already spent over 20 hours on this and I would've never believed it if someone told me writing a LaTeX parser was a walk in the park in comparison.   This question is kind of an add-on to this question In C#, a switch case cannot fall through to other cases, this causes a compilation error. In this case I am just adding some number to the month total for the selected month and each subsequent month thereafter. (simple example, not meant to be real) switch (month) { case 0: add something to month totals case 1: add something to month totals case 2: add something to month totals default: break; } Is there a logical alternative to this in C# without having to write out a ton of if statements? if (month <= 0) add something to month if (month <= 1) add something to month if (month <= 2) add something to month .... etc

• Objective-C member variable assignment?

  I have an objective-c class with member variables. I am creating getters and setters for each one. Mostly for learning purposes. My setter looks like the following: - (void) setSomething:(NSString *)input { something = input; } However, in C++ and other languages I have worked with in the past, you can reference the member variable by using the this pointer like this->something = input. In objective-c this is known as self. So I was wondering if something like that is possible in objective-c? Something like this: - (void) setSomething:(NSString *)input { [self something] = input; } But that would call the getter for something. So I'm not sure. So my question is: Is there a way I can do assignment utilizing the self pointer? If so, how? Is this good practice or is it evil? Thanks!

  Given a date range how to calculate the number of weekends partially or wholly within that range? (A few definitions as requested: take 'weekend' to mean Saturday and Sunday. The date range is inclusive i.e. the end date is part of the range 'wholly or partially' means that any part of the weekend falling within the date range means the whole weekend is counted.) To simplify I imagine you only actually need to know the duration and what day of the week the initial day is... I darn well now it's going to involve doing integer division by 7 and some logic to add 1 depending on the remainder but I can't quite work out what... extra points for answers in Python ;-) Edit Here's my final code. Weekends are Friday and Saturday (as we are counting nights stayed) and days are 0-indexed starting from Monday. I used onebyone's algorithm and Tom's code layout. • Is there a combination of "LIKE" and "IN" in SQL?

  Hi folks. In SQL I (sadly) often have to use "LIKE" conditions due to databases that violate nearly every rule of normalization. I can't change that right now. But that's irrelevant to the question. Further, I often use conditions like WHERE something in (1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21) for better readability and flexibility of my SQL statements. Is there any possible way to combine these two things without writing complicated sub-selects? I want something as easy as WHERE something LIKE ('bla%', '%foo%', 'batz%') instead of WHERE something LIKE 'bla%' OR something LIKE '%foo%' OR something LIKE 'batz%' I'm working with MS SQl Server and Oracle here but I'm interested if this is possible in any RDBMS at all.

• Can return and else statements be used interchangable in CFScript?

  I would like to know your opinion on using return and else statements interchangeably in CFScript. I generally use the following syntax: if (something) { // Do something } else { // Do something else } It recently occurred to me I could do this instead: if (something) { // Do something return; } // Do something else Would those two styles yield a different end result? I like not having to wrap code in an else statement. My thinking is that if the if statement evaluates true and returns, the code below it will not run. If it does not evaluate true, then the code below it will run regardless of whether it is wrapped in an else statement or not. Does that sound write?

  Hi All, I have a folder structure, as shown below: I need to create a bash script that does 4 things: It searches all the files in the generic directory and finds the string 'generic' and makes it into 'something' As above, but changes "GENERIC" to "SOMETHING" As above, but changes "Generic" to "Something" Renames any filename that has "generic" in it with "something" Right now I am doing this process manually by using the search and replace in net beans. I dont know much about bash scripting, but i'm sure this can be done. I'm thinking of something that I would run and it would take "Something" as the input. Where would I start? what functions should I use? overall guidance would be great. thanks. I am using Ubuntu 10.5 desktop edition.

• IIS7 url rewrite rules

  In a hosted environment, I will be utilizing subdomains (and virtual directories) for various coding projects. I have a rewrite rule that changes 'subdomain.domain.com/url' to 'domain.com/subdomain/url'. This worked fine, except that the browser couldn't find resources with paths generated by ResolveURL("~/something"). The server was using the Application Path of "/subdomain/" so based on the rewrite rule, the browser's request for "/subdomain/something" was being looked for in "/subdomain/subdomain/something" were it wasn't to be found. either of these urls were valid: http://www.domain.com/subdomain/something http://subdomain.domain.com/something I resolved this by adding a another url rewrite rule to the subdomain: <rule name="RemoveSuperDir"> <match url="subdomain/(.*)" /> <action type="Rewrite" url="{R:1}" /> </rule> So for each subdomain that I might add, I will need to add such a rule. Is there a way to write a single rule at the domain level to resolve this issue?

  Possible Duplicate: What’s your favorite ticketing system? I was wondering if somebody could recommend me a very user friendly or simple general purpose ticketing/tech support system. I need something that is web based, preferably open-sourced/free software implemented using PHP, Ruby, Ruby on Rails or Java (as back end) with MySQL or PostgreSQL as database engine. I need something that is not development management oriented or project management oriented like Eventum or similar (random example), something to which the user can connect open a tech support request and be able to follow it until is solved or dropped.I need it to be open-sourced to be able to modify it if there is a need or extend it. I tried a number of such systems available and I found that osTicket or eTicket is something that it's close to what I need, but the code is somewhat flaky and some of the features are working badly or behaving strangely. Any thoughts/advice where to find something similar? Thanks!

  I was using first Tasque and then GTG on Ubuntu and Astrid on Android with Remember The Milk as the backend. Recently, Astrid has dropped support for Remember The Milk, and both Tasque and GTG's support for syncing with RTM has always left something to be desired. So I'm looking for a new solution, and I'm open to leaving RTM especially if it is for something that isn't proprietary. What have you found to keep your tasks lists in-sync between Ubuntu and Android? In particular, I'm looking for a desktop based program on the Ubuntu side rather than something in the browser. Astrid has treated me well, but I wouldn't mind trying something else. Currently, it can sync with Astrid.com, Google Tasks, and Producteev. Anyone know of a desktop app that supports any of those?

  As part of my job as a web developer, I spend an amount of time doing UI prototypes to show the client. It's a pain in the behind but sometimes it has to be done. I've seen Shuttleworth (and the design team) pump out images like this: That's made by something called Balsamiq Mockups... Something that balances on top of Adobe Air (yack!) and costs $79. I've tried it but it kept falling over. I think it had something to do with Air not the app itself. My point is if I'm paying out for something, I want it to be native.

• Monitor for HD video editing

  I have been researching for days and nights on a good monitor to buy for a Mac Pro with an ATI Radeon 2600 XT (256mb). It will be used extensively for HD video editing (1080p) and photo editing, and likely also digital/3D animation next year(a lot of FCP + CS4). I am a student, so money is a little bit of an issue, but I want something that I'll be able to use semi-professionally after I'm done school, and am willing to finance something if it is worth the cost. I'm HOPING for something under $1000 though. The IPS Ultrasharps from Dell seem to be getting good reviews from other video editors. Accurate colour correction is a concern for me (hopefully something that covers Adobe spectrum), as well as a decent response time, HD resolutions, and DVI port. Also something with good gradient/definition in black areas, as this is difficult for editing on most LCDs. 1X1 pixel, brightness, good DVD playback etc. Hopefully this is not impossible to find for under $2000!

  Hi, On my SQL server 2008, i have a SQL agent job to restore a database on nightly basis. Procedure: find latest backup on other server Kill all conenction to the destination database Restore destination database with replace, recovery It failed last weekend because the database was being used by a system process (spid 11 checkpoint). since I couldnt kill the system process, I fixed this by restarting sql server. It failed this weekend as well with same error (checkpint process in this database as from sp_who) and when I run: SELECT session_id,request_id,command,status,start_time FROM sys.dm_exec_requests WHERE session_id = 11 It shows: 11 0 CHECKPOINT background 2010-04-06 10:17:49.103 I cant restart the server every time it fails. Can anyone please help me in fixing this? Thanks in advance Manjot

I have done some reading on what URLS should look like for search engine optimisation, but I am curious to know how mine would like, I need some advice. • Should you use "internal abbreviations" in code comments?

  Should you use "internal abbreviations/slang" inside comments, that is, abbreviations and slang people outside the project could have trouble understanding, for instance, using something like //NYI instead of //Not Yet Implemented? There are advantages of this, such as there is less "code" to type (though you could use autocomplete on the abbreviations) and you can read something like NYE faster than something like Not Yet Implemented, assuming you are aware of the abbreviation and its (unabbreviated) meaning. Myself, I would be careful with this as long as it is not a project on which I for sure will be the only developer.
