• How do you limit a page with multiple flash mp3 players to play one at a time?

  I am working with the open source flash player at http://flash-mp3-player.net/ and I am trying to figure out how to limit one sound file at a time. I know this has been done on a number of sites but I am unsure how to approach it. Scenario: A page has five different instances of the flash player. The user is litening to one song but clicks on another to listen to it. Goal: The first audio file automatically stops while the second starts playing instead of both playing at the same time. Do I need to have some sort of javascript handler than interacts with the swf or something?

  Hello. I have an HTML page that loads two different SWF files. is there a way to dispatch a custom event from one flex application to another ? to create a custom event I extend the Event class and I add another variable to the constructor called params which is an Object. I use EventDispatcher to dispatch the events. I have no idea how to do that between one flex application to the other. is it even possible ? If it's not, is there any other way that these two flex applications can communicate without opening a LocalConnection ? Using flex 4.5 thanks!

• Flex Debugger wont launch - Only on particular project.

  When trying to launch Flex debaugger on my project, it does not launch and I get an error instead. Every other project in different workspaces launches just fine. This is the only one giving me an issue. Here is the error: Process terminated without establishing connection to debugger.   Hi, I need to edit a Flash movie that somebody else developed in Adobe Flash CS3 on a Mac. I'm using Adobe Flash CS4 on Windows (Vista). However, the font that shows up on my computer is much bigger than on the .SWF that he produced. He used a custom font, which I had to add to my system Fonts folder. Because Adobe Flash detected the right fonts on my computer, it didn't map them to substitute fonts. I verified that Flash is indeed using the same font files that he used. I believe the fonts are being rendered differently because I'm using Windows. How do I fix this?

  Hi! I have to dynamically send a flashvars value from <object>/<embed>, for example "<object name="flashvars" value="test=myxml.xml"> to my swf file. And in my AS, I have this: var xmlPath:String = _level0.test; doc.load(xmlPath); So, this way I want to read several xml files (at least it's my intention!). But nothing of what I do works... I also tried doc.load(_root.test) but it didnt work too. If I do: doc.load("someXML.xml") It works just fine!! I'm trying to solve this for many many hours and still didn't find any solution!! • Can you Export/Import Flex (4) Data Services?

  Flex newb here. I'm working in flashbuilder 4 (flex4?), and am being asked to create the client-side data services integration 'layer' in a flex app. There is another team working on the actual UI/Presentation. Both parts must be deployed in a single swf. If I use the data/services wizard to build out my service connections (and generate the ActionScript), is it possible to export these 'connections' so that they can easily be imported into another project? Or must they be defined through the wizard all over again? The other team wants to be able to see the connections appear in the new project's Data/Services inspector (IDE Tab). Thanks!

  I'm not a flash developer, I'm having issues figuring out how I should set up these two projects that I have in Flex Builder. I've already created projA which has a .mxml that references several custom controls & skins from com.xxx.controls within projA I now have to build projB which also has a .mxml that will create a different .swf. I want to use some of the same controls from projA I currently build projA through the command line and nant and will need to do the same for projB. Should I create a new project to move all of the common controls into? How do I then use this library project in both the projects & compile via command? Thanks!

  Hey, I would like to import the Flex class ResultEvent in Flash. This is how I did it: 1. In "Publish Settings/Flash/ActionScrip 3.0 Settings/Library Path" I selected the rpc.swf (from the flex sdk) 2. Then I wrote in my flash-file: import mx.rpc.ResultEvent; But i still get the following error: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: ResultEvent. • Flex 4.5 - to long build process

  We are developing an app using flex 4.5. The app runs just fine (no performance issues at all) but it takes us forever to compile and build it. A minor change, like just add a comment or press enter in an mxml file and rebuild takes about 3 minutes. You just cant work that way. It is a large project with about 1300 files. We also use Parsley as IOC container and a beat of cairngorm navigation. We also use Maven (Flex mojos) but I am talking about a normal eclipse build (Ctrl + B). We separated some of the code to a different SWC and all of our graphics are stored in a different resource SWF. Please, Do you have any suggestions? Regards, Ido

• Flex 3 and flash player caching

  hi, i pass text strings from a configuration file into my Flex app, one of the strings i pass in is a mailto link which i use to allow users of my app to send me feedback. I recently needed to change this link however when i updated the link in my config file the change did not happen instantly in my Flex app. In fact i had to clear my cache (both browser and flash player) before the change showed up. This of course is fine for me but how can i be sure that users of the application also get the updated content? Is there a way to force a refresh of data loaded into my swf on other users browsers? Finally is this an issue with my browser cache or the Flash player cache? Does the flash player only keep such data, like my email address, in memory while the app is in use and then clear once it is closed or does it cache this data for the next time the user wants to use the app? • How to prevent button/movieclip from interfering with mouse events

  I have a few swf's that are loaded into a base file using levels. These clips can be cycled through by means of a setInterval function or when the user clicks the next or previous button. However, when the user hovers over a defined 'hit' area which is ultimately a blank movie clip, the setTimeout call is then canceled. This works fine, except that now the 'hit' clip - being above everything - prevents the movies below accepting hit states, and if I move it to below everything else, when one mouses over any element in the loaded movie, it then acts as though the user has mouse out of the hit area. Is there any way to have this 'hit' clip do its job simply by determining if the mouse is over it, but without using an onRollOver function or equivalent? Much appreciated

I'd like to display them in a custom Flash player so that the user could see the spherical nature of the images, and "look up", "look down", "look left/right" (or pan, zoom, etc). (Note that I have a long series of images, so the library must allow for dynamic loading of the images themselves, rather than having the images "baked" into the SWF player.) What is the best library to manage the display of the equirectangular images in Flash? By "best", I mean the most mature, most reliable, most robust, and fastest performing.   Hi, i've started to use sIFR3. I don't know how to turn on smoothing of font. Do i need to change it in my font.swf file? In FF3 it work perfect, everything is okay, but when i turn on my IE8, nothing changes. Even live example doesn't work (http://work.likeaninja.co.uk/sifr/demo/). What's going on? My Flash Player is "WIN 10,1,51,95" (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html). I thinks it's beta, but it shouldn't change anything. Help!

• How do I load multiple FLV files, with the same COMPLETE event handler?

  When loading files with the Loader in ActionScript 3, I am able to inspect the event attribute on the complete event handler to determine what the URL is for the file that has completed downloading. Loader exposes a variable in the event handler attribute: event.target.url which I means that when the handler returns, I can easily determine which file is loading. However, my client has sent numerous FLV files built in After Effects that constitute the UI elements of a Flash application built for them. Loading FLV files require the use of URLLoader, and this does not appear to expose the name of the file being loaded. So I either need to convert the FLV's to SWF, so I can load them as normal. Is there a way to determine the URL inside the onComplete event handler fired by URLLoader?

• How can I replicate the functionality of the Flash Builder's release tool in ant?

  I want to build an ant script that does exactly the same compilation actions on a Flash Builder 4 (Gumbo) project as the Project->Export Release Build... menu item does. My ant-fu is reasonably strong, that's not the issue, but rather I'm not sure exactly what that entry is doing. Some details: I'll be using the 3.x SDK (say, 3.2 for the sake of specificity) to build this. I'll be building on a Mac, and I can happily use ant, make, or some weird shell script stuff if that's the way you roll. Any useful optimizations you can suggest will be welcome. The project contains a few assets, MXML and actionscript source, and a couple of .swcs that are built into the project (not RSL'd) Can someone provide an ant build.xml or makefle that they use to build a release .swf file from a similar Flex project?

  Hi, I have three datagrids inside VBox container. Since I don't want scrollbar in my flex widget i am increasing the height of SWF through javascript, which increases with each addition of row in my datagrid. My query is how can I get the exact height of my VBox which is the parent element of datagrid. I am not able to get the height of VBox. I have tried to use measuredHeight,height with no success. • Portfolio problem on a flash template

  Hi guys! I have another question about the same template as before. in my website. (www.nikstudio.cl) I need to show in the webpage's portfolio (menu "trabajos") show a few pictures. If you click the thumbnail picture you can see the full size version of that thumbnail. My problem are two: First the picture one and two are the same as five a six ( and i can't change it cause i don't find the place to do this.) And the second is when I copy and paste (in a new layer) of the movieclip "sprite 656" i get in the swf a new picture on the portfolio but i can't click it.
