  • Set up layer 2 vlan between 2 data centres

    - by user41679
    Hello, Our data centre provider operates 2 sites, and we currently have equipment in one and would like to have equipment in the second. They've told me that they operate a layer 2 vlan between the 2 sites over a 20gbit connection, and that they'd just give me ethernet cable at each end to connect the locations. At the current site, we have Cisco 2960 48TC-L switches, all the machines are on a 192.168.x.x subnet and we have cisco firewalls with which we connect to our internet provider with. My question is what would I need to do to connect the 2 sites? could I just plug the ethernet cables the provide into the cisco switches, and have the same switches the other end? would I need to set up a separate internal network on the other side and connect both through the firewalls? Would the cisco switches need special configuration? We expect to maintain a number of connections between the 2 sites, and each site would have its own internal dns name like dc1.xx.com. Sorry if I'm being vague or haven't included enough information, I've a fairly good knowledge of hardware but we're down a netops guy at the moment and I'd like to get both sites on-line ASAP! Thanks in advance!

  • change an absolutely positioned webpage into a centered one

    - by Jonathan
    So I have this template design that is currently absolutely positioned, but I'm trying to make it centered in any widescreen browser. I've tried making the width auto on the left and right side in my container, but it is still aligned with the left side. Css .JosephSettin_png { position: absolute; left:0px; top:0px; width:216px; height:40px; background: url("JosephSettin.png") no-repeat; } .home_png { position: absolute; left:472px; top:16px; width:48px; height:16px; } .discography_png { position: absolute; left:528px; top:16px; width:80px; height:24px; } .purchase_png { position: absolute; left:608px; top:16px; width:88px; height:24px; } .about_png { position: absolute; left:696px; top:16px; width:48px; height:24px; } .contact_png { position: absolute; left:744px; top:16px; width:56px; height:24px; } .main__pic_png { position: absolute; left:0px; top:56px; width:264px; height:264px; background: url("main_pic.png") no-repeat; } .footer__lines_png { position: absolute; left:0px; top:512px; width:800px; height:24px; background: url("footer_lines.png") no-repeat; } .info__heading_png { position: absolute; left:32px; top:360px; width:216px; height:32px; background: url("info_heading.png") no-repeat; } .info__pic3_png { position: absolute; left:265px; top:360px; width:159px; height:112px; background: url("info_pic3.png") no-repeat; } .info__pic2_png { position: absolute; left:432px; top:360px; width:176px; height:112px; background: url("info_pic2.png") no-repeat; } .info__pic1_png { position: absolute; left:616px; top:360px; width:177px; height:112px; background: url("info_pic1.png") no-repeat; } .info__pane_png { position: absolute; left:0px; top:345px; width:800px; height:144px; background: url("info_pane.png") no-repeat; } body { text-align: center; background-color:maroon; } #wrapper { width: 800px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: left; } #a { text-decoration: none; color:white; font-weight:bold; } .style1 { font-weight: bold; color: #FFFFFF; } html <body> <center> <div id="wrapper"> <div class="JosephSettin_png"> </div> <div class="home_png"> <a href="home.html" style="color:yellow">Home</a></div> <div class="discography_png"> <a href="discography.html">Discography</a></div> <div class="purchase_png"><a href="store.html"><span class="style1">Store</span></a></div> <div class="about_png"><a href="about.html">About</a></div> <div class="contact_png"><a href="contact.html"><span class="style1"></span>Contact</a></div> <div class="ad_png"> </div> <div class="main__pic_png"> </div> <div class="welcome__header_png"> </div> <div class="welcome__text_png"> </div> <div class="footer__lines_png"> </div> <div class="footer__text_png"> </div> <div class="info__pane_png"></div> <div class="info__heading_png"> </div> <div class="info__text_png"> </div> <div class="info__pic3_png"> </div> <div class="info__pic2_png"> </div> <div class="info__pic1_png"> </div> <div class="info__pic3_png"> </div> </div> </center> </body> I know the container I create works if all my div classes aren't absolutely positioned. Do I have to change the position or did I make another error?

  • How can I create a weekly calendar view for an Android Honeycomb application?

    - by BVB
    I am working on an Android (v3.0) application that has a requirement of mimicking the weekly calendar layout found on Google Calendar: The events will be based on external requests through the Google Calendar API (I already have this part working). Using the API, I can obtain a list of events for the week, with each event having a starting and and ending datetime. I would like to use this data to show the scheduled events to the application's users in a view similar to the one above. Here's what I have so far: The XML appears below: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="800dp" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:orientation="vertical" > <TextView android:id="@+id/textView1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Calendar Title" android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceLarge" /> <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/relativeLayout1" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/linearLayout1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" </RelativeLayout> </ScrollView> </LinearLayout> My approach was to make 40dp equal to 1 hr of time. Thus, whenever I would like to add an event that has a duration of 1.5 hours, I will make an 60dp button that I will place at the exact location that the time begins (12am = 0dp from the top, 1pm = 40dp from the top, 2pm = 80d from the top, etc). My questions are: Is there a better way of doing this? How can I convert my XML to be stand-alone view that could be added to any Android project? (I plan on perhaps making a blog post about the end product) Thank you!

  • iPhone: Strange Movement of Two UIImageView "Sprites"

    - by David Pollak
    I have two UIImageViews moving like sprites on a superview. Each imageview moves properly by itself but when I put both imageviews on the superview at the same time, their individual movement becomes strangely restricted to two different areas of the screen. They will not touch even programmed to the same coordinates. This is my movement code for the first imageView: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; pos = CGPointMake(14.0, 7.0); [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0.05 target:self selector:@selector(onTimer) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; } - (void) onTimer { pallone.center = CGPointMake(pallone.center.x+pos.x, pallone.center.y+pos.y); if(pallone.center.x > 320 || pallone.center.x < 0) pos.x = -pos.x; if(pallone.center.y > 480 || pallone.center.y < 0) pos.y = -pos.y; } and for the second imageview: - (IBAction)spara{ cos = CGPointMake(8.0, 4.0); [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0.05 target:self selector:@selector(inTimer) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; } - (void)inTimer{ bomba.center = CGPointMake(bomba.center.x+pos.x, bomba.center.y+pos.y); if(bomba.center.x > 50 || bomba.center.x < 0) pos.x = -pos.x; if(bomba.center.y > 480 || bomba.center.y < 0) pos.y = -pos.y; } Why causes this strange behavior? Thanks for your help. I am a newbie.

  • Manage more Images to move in View

    hi everyone, I'm creating an app which has more UIImageView on a View, they should move normally from a side to the other. I have an issue: after entering the second image, the two UIImageView start to behave crazy (!) because they don' move freely, but they are like restricted in two different areas not touching each other even if I said different things the first thing that I want to do, is to let them move normally; this is the code I am using: `- (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; pos = CGPointMake(14.0, 7.0); [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0.05 target:self selector:@selector(onTimer) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; }` - (void) onTimer { pallone.center = CGPointMake(pallone.center.x+pos.x, pallone.center.y+pos.y); if(pallone.center.x > 320 || pallone.center.x < 0) pos.x = -pos.x; if(pallone.center.y > 480 || pallone.center.y < 0) pos.y = -pos.y; } and for the other image that has to enter after: - (IBAction)spara{ cos = CGPointMake(8.0, 4.0); [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0.05 target:self selector:@selector(inTimer) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; } - (void)inTimer{ bomba.center = CGPointMake(bomba.center.x+pos.x, bomba.center.y+pos.y); if(bomba.center.x > 50 || bomba.center.x < 0) pos.x = -pos.x; if(bomba.center.y > 480 || bomba.center.y < 0) pos.y = -pos.y; } what should I change ? and if I'd like the images to move only in one way (y) ? how do I do this ? I know, I'm a newbie thanks in advance

  • CSS: Horizontal UL: Getting it centered

    - by Steve
    I'm trying to make a horizontal menu/list. It has a mix of independent buttons and buttons that are wrapped in their own individual forms. With much hacking I got all of the buttons, in forms and not in forms to align horizontally. I haven't been able to get the whole thing to center on the page though. Could someone point out to me what I am not seeing? <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"> <link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://localhost:7001/nsd/images/favicon.ico"> <link rel="StyleSheet" href="veci_files/nsd.css" type="text/css"> <style type = "text/css"> #horizontal_li_menu_container ul { margin-left: auto; margin-right:auto; text-align:center; border: 1px solid green; width:1000px; } #horizontal_li_menu_container_ul { list-style-type: none; text-decoration: none; border: 1px solid red; } #horizontal_li_menu_container li { display: inline;float:left; } </style> </head> <body> <div id = "horizontal_li_menu_container"> <ul id = "horizontal_li_menu_container_ul"> <li> <input value="Update" onclick="location.href='#'" name="button" type="button"/> </li> <li> <form name="formExportVECI" method="post" action="exportveci"> <input name="person_id" value="661774" type="hidden"> <input name="submitExport" value="Export To Microsoft Excel" type="submit"> </form> </li> <li> <form id="ufdh" name="formImportVECI" action="importveci" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <input name="person_id" value="661774" type="hidden"> <input value="Import From Microsoft Excel" path="Upload" type="submit"> <input id="fileData" name="fileData" value="" type="file"> </form> </li> <li> <input value="Search/Home" onclick="location.href='search'" name="buttonHome" type="button"/> </li> </ul> </div> </body></html>

  • how to properly transfer user input from index to invoice?

    - by Romel
    I got a dillema, I'm trying to find a solution for my code. How do I make it so that when the user inputs a given quantity in the text box from the index.php it will transfer that input quantity to the invoice.php. I've tried doing the post method but it seems like it's not working :/ As always, any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated! I hope it's something simple:( Here's my code: index.php <html> <style> body{ background-image: url('URL HERE'); font-family: "Helvetica"; font-size:15px; } h1{ color:black; text-align:center; } p{ font-size:15px; } </style> <h1> STORE TITLE HERE </h1> <body> <form action="login.php" method="post"> <?php //Include products info.inc (Which holds all our product arrays and info) //Credit: Tracy & Mark (THank you!) include 'products_info.inc'; /*The following code centers my table on the page, makes the table background white, makes the table 50% of the browser window, gives it a border of 1 px, gives a padding of 2 px between the cell border and content, and gives 1 px of spacing between cells. */ echo "<table align=center bgcolor='FFFFFF' width=50% border=1 cellpadding=1 cellspacing=2>"; //Credit: Tracy & Mark (THank you!) echo '<th>Product</th> <th>Description</th> <th>Price</th> <th>Quantity</th>'; //The following code loops through the whole table body and then prints each row. for($i=0; $i<count($allfood); $i++) { //Credit: Tracy & Mark (THank you!) echo "<tr align=center>"; echo "<td>{$allfood[$i]['Product']}</td>"; echo "<td>{$allfood[$i]['Description']}</td>"; echo "<td>{$allfood[$i]['Price']}</td>"; echo "<td>{$allfood[$i]['Quantity']}</td>"; echo "</tr>"; } //This code ends the table. echo "</table>"; echo "<br>"; ?> <br><center><input type='submit' name='purchase' value='Purchase'></center> </form> </body> </html> And here's my invoice.php <html> <style> body{ background-image: url('URL HERE'); font-family: "Helvetica"; font-size:15px; } h1{ color:black; text-align:center; } p{ font-size:15px; } </style> <h1> Invoice </h1> </html> <?php //Include products info.inc (Which holds all our product arrays and info) //Credit: Tracy & Mark (Thank you!) include 'products_info.inc'; //Display the invoice & 'WELCOME USER. THANK YOU FOR USING THIS DAMN THING msg' /*The following code centers my invoice table on the page, makes the table background white, makes the table 50% of the browser window, gives it a border of 1 px, gives a padding of 2 px between the cell border and content, and gives 1 px of spacing between cells. */ echo "<table align=center bgcolor='FFFFFF' width=50% border=1 cellpadding=1cellspacing=2>"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td align=center><b>Product</b></td>"; echo "<td align=center><b>Quantity</b></td>"; echo "<td align=center><b>Price</></td>"; echo "<td align=center><b>Extended Price</b></td>"; echo "</tr>"; for($i=0; $i<count($allfood); $i++) { //Credit: Tracy & Mark (Thank you!) $qty= @$_POST['Quantity']['$i']; // This calculates the price if the user orders more than 1 item. $extendedprice = $qty*$allfood[$i]['Price']; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td align=center>{$allfood[$i]['Product']}</td>"; echo "<td align=center>$extendedprice</td>"; echo "<td align=center>{$allfood[$i]['Price']}</td>"; echo "</tr>"; } // The goal here was to make it so that if the user selected a certain quantity from index.php, it would carry over and display on the invoice.php if ($qty = 0) { echo "please choose 1"; } elseif ($qty > 0) { echo $qty; } /*echo "<tr>"; echo "<td align=center>Subtotal</b></td>"; echo "<td align=center></td>"; echo "<td align=center></td>"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td align=center>Tax at 5.75%</td>"; echo "<td align=center></td>"; echo "<td align=center></td>"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td align=center><b>Grand total</b></td>"; echo "<td align=center></td>"; echo "<td align=center></td>"; */ echo "</table>"; ?> <br> <center> <form action="index.php" method="post"> <input type="submit" name="home" value="Back to homepage"> </form> </center>

  • Centralizing a floating element :(

    - by 2x2p1p
    Hi guys :| My "div" element have a relative width, it isn't absolute so I can't use exact numbers to centralize. A nice solution is to use "display: inline-block": body { text-align: center; } #myDiv { border: 1px solid black; display: inline-block; padding: 50px; } But this element NEEDS to float, I tried this: #myDiv { border: 1px solid black; display: inline-block; float: left; padding: 50px; } And this: #myDiv { border: 1px solid black; display: inline-block; padding: 50px; position: absolute; } Without any success, can somebody help me ? Thanks

  • iOS Development: Does the GameKit SDK allow you to retrieve achievements by players other than the local player?

    - by BeachRunnerJoe
    Hello. I'm building a game that uses Game Center to connect players and manage leaderboards and achievements. I see that you can retrieve leaderboard details for any player, but can you do the same with achievements? When the user finishes a match with an opponent, I'd like to give the user the option to view the opponents profile, including leaderboard scores and completed achievements. I haven't found anything in the docs that shows me how to retrieve achievement details for players other than the local player, am I missing it or is this currently not supported? Thanks so much for your help!

  • How to comply with this guideline for submitting an application to the Software Center?

    - by George Edison
    I was reading through the Ubuntu Developer Programme Agreement for submitting applications to the Software Center and stubled across the following clause: 3.1 You must first test Apps you submit to confirm they are compatible with all currently supported versions of Ubuntu (as listed on Canonical's website at the date of submission by you) and your Apps must comply with the Publishing Policy. Does this mean I must install both the 32 and 64 bit versions of Ubuntu 8.04, 10.04, 10.10, 11.04, and 11.10? If so, that's 10 installations of Ubuntu - is that really feasible (even with virtual machines)? Alternatively, does anyone have suggestions for testing the application without actually installing each version? Some sort of chroot tool, perhaps?

  • 2D SAT How to find collision center or point or area?

    - by Felipe Cypriano
    I've just implemented collision detection using SAT and this article as reference to my implementation. The detection is working as expected but I need to know where both rectangles are colliding. I need to find the center of the intersection, the black point on the image above. I've found some articles about this but they all involve avoiding the overlap or some kind of velocity, I don't need this. I just need to put a image on top of it. Like two cars crashed so I put an image on top of the collision. Any ideas? ## Update The information I've about the rectangles are the four points that represents them, the upper right, upper left, lower right and lower left coordinates. I'm trying to find an algorithm that can give me the intersection of these points.

  • Black bars around screen? Catalyst Control Center problem?

    - by Josh B
    I just newly install Ubuntu 12.04, and im running an HDMI cable from my computer to my ASUS monitor. Now in Windows 7, i did not have these black bar issues running at 1080p. But now in Ubuntu, i have these black bars. I installed the ATI Catalyst Control Center, and I went to go in to fix the scaling but it is grayed out. As you can see, even with the override box checked i still can not set the scaling. The monitor was set to a lower resolution to hopefully fix it but that did not work either. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

  • How should I setup billing for AdWords when managing a client's campaign in My Client Center? [closed]

    - by Dustin
    I have worked with Google AdWords before and will now be managing an AdWords account for a client. I have a My Client Center account, but I'm wondering what the best practices are for billing. Should I link billing to my own credit card and then have the client pay me (they have to pay me to manage the account anyway), or should I have the client pay Google directly? How is this usually done? If it is the later, what is the best way to have them input their payment info?

  • What are the Characteristics of a Software "Center of Excellence" (CoE)?

    - by Randy
    Recently a new director of my department came in and expressed his wish that we become a "center of excellence". I expected that since he is my first boss who actually has a programming background that there would be some description of this. However, it was left at that. As I reflected on this over the last few days, I am coming up empty on what a CoE actually means beyond just "being effective" at delivering the product. Here are the main items I am struggling with: Is this just a term that is thrown around by management types? What qualities make a group of software developers and testers excellent? How do you measure excellence in this context?

  • IPhone sdk stop the accelerometer from working when something happens.

    - by Harry
    Hi, I am using the accelerometer to move a few UIImageViews around the screen, at the moment the accelerometer only works when a NSTimer is at 0, this is fine. I would also like to make the accelerometer stop again when a different function happens. here is my code at the moment: -(BOOL) accelerometerWorks { return time == 0; } -(void) accelerometer:(UIAccelerometer *)accelerometer didAccelerate:(UIAcceleration *)acceleration{ if(![self accelerometerWorks]) return; valueX = acceleration.x*25.5; int newX = (int)(ball.center.x +valueX); if (newX 320-BALL_RADIUS) newX = 320-BALL_RADIUS; if (newX < 0+BALL_RADIUS) newX = 0+BALL_RADIUS; int XA = (int)(balloonbit1.center.x +valueX); if (XA 320-BALL_RADIUS) XA = 320-BALL_RADIUS; if (XA < 0+BALL_RADIUS) XA = 0+BALL_RADIUS; int XB = (int)(balloonbit2.center.x +valueX); if (XB 320-BALL_RADIUS) XB = 320-BALL_RADIUS; if (XB < 0+BALL_RADIUS) XB = 0+BALL_RADIUS; int XI = (int)(balloonbit3.center.x +valueX); if (XI 320-BALL_RADIUS) XI = 320-BALL_RADIUS; if (XI < 0+BALL_RADIUS) XI = 0+BALL_RADIUS; int XJ = (int)(balloonbit4.center.x +valueX); if (XJ 320-BALL_RADIUS) XJ = 320-BALL_RADIUS; if (XJ < 0+BALL_RADIUS) XJ = 0+BALL_RADIUS; int XE = (int)(balloonbit5.center.x +valueX); if (XE 320-BALL_RADIUS) XE = 320-BALL_RADIUS; if (XE < 0+BALL_RADIUS) XE = 0+BALL_RADIUS; int XF = (int)(balloonbit6.center.x +valueX); if (XF 320-BALL_RADIUS) XF = 320-BALL_RADIUS; if (XF < 0+BALL_RADIUS) XF = 0+BALL_RADIUS; int XH = (int)(balloonbit8.center.x +valueX); if (XH 320-BALL_RADIUS) XH = 320-BALL_RADIUS; if (XH < 0+BALL_RADIUS) XH = 0+BALL_RADIUS; ball.center = CGPointMake (newX, 429); balloonbit1.center = CGPointMake (XA, 429); balloonbit2.center = CGPointMake (XB, 426); balloonbit3.center = CGPointMake (XI, 410); balloonbit4.center = CGPointMake (XJ, 415); balloonbit5.center = CGPointMake (XE, 409); balloonbit6.center = CGPointMake (XF, 427); balloonbit8.center = CGPointMake (XH, 417); } This all works fine, i would now like to stop the accelerometer from working, using the same accelerometerWorks method or a new method, accelerometerWontWork. This is the code that when it is called i would like the accelerometer to stop. (it is very long so i wont put all of it there, but its all the same throughout): -(void) checkCollision{ if (CGRectIntersectsRect(pinend.frame, balloonbit1.frame)){ if (balloonbit1.frame.origin.y pinend.frame.origin.y){ [maintimer invalidate]; levelfailed.center = CGPointMake (160, 235); } } if (CGRectIntersectsRect(pinend.frame, balloonbit2.frame)){ if (balloonbit2.frame.origin.y pinend.frame.origin.y){ [maintimer invalidate]; levelfailed.center = CGPointMake (160, 235); } } if (CGRectIntersectsRect(pinend.frame, balloonbit3.frame)){ if (balloonbit3.frame.origin.y pinend.frame.origin.y){ [maintimer invalidate]; levelfailed.center = CGPointMake (160, 235); } } } I understand that i may have to turn this into a BOOL. Thats fine. If i haven't explained it well please say and i will re write it. Thanks! Harry.

  • Visual Studio project remains "stuck" when stopped

    - by Traveling Tech Guy
    Hi, Currently developing a connector DLL to HP's Quality Center. I'm using their (insert expelative) COM API to connect to the server. An Interop wrapper gets created automatically by VStudio. My solution has 2 projects: the DLL and a tester application - essentially a form with buttons that call functions in the DLL. Everything works well - I can create defects, update them and delete them. When I close the main form, the application stops nicely. But when I call a function that returns a list of all available projects (to fill a combo box), if I close the main form, VStudio still shows the solution as running and I have to stop it. I've managed to pinpoint a single function in my code that when I call, the solution remains "hung" and if I don't, it closes well. It's a call to a property in the TDC object get_VisibleProjects that returns a List (not the .Net one, but a type in the COM library) - I just iterate over it and return a proper list (that I later use to fill the combo box): public List<string> GetAvailableProjects() { List<string> projects = new List<string>(); foreach (string project in this.tdc.get_VisibleProjects(qcDomain)) { projects.Add(project); } return projects; } My assumption is that something gets retained in memory. If I run the EXE outside of VStudio it closes - but who knows what gets left behind in memory? My question is - how do I get rid of whatever calling this property returns? Shouldn't the GC handle this? Do I need to delve into pointers? Things I've tried: getting the list into a variable and setting it to null at the end of the function Adding a destructor to the class and nulling the tdc object Stepping through the tester function application all the way out, whne the form closes and the Main function ends - it closes, but VStudio still shows I'm running. Thanks for your assistance!
