  • Viewsonic VG2427wm detected max resolution too low

    So I have a Viewsonic VG2427wm, which supports max resolution of 1920x1080 and I had it working at this resolution from both windows and linux PCs. Now, I need to connect it to my Dell XPS17 (L702x), which has only DP mini and HDMI, so I'm trying to connect this monitor via HDMI-to-DVI adapter (doesn't work at all) and via DP-mini-to-DVI adapter. The later works, but is limiting my max resolution to 1680x1050. Using same two adapters to connect my dell monitor works fine, so I don't suspect any of the adapters to be faulty. The driver is the latest viewsonic driver (although it's been last updated 3 years back). Any ideas, how I can force it to display it's correct native resolution?

  • Windows 7/Outlook 2010 cut off controls on form windows

    I am running windows 7 with multiple monitors. 2 at 1920 x 1200 and 1 at 1600x900 resolution. Controls are cut off and I cannot view the entire content of the window. As far as I can tell I only have the issue with Outlook 2010, it may be present in other applications but I haven't noticed it. For example to get to the more settings button I have to use tab and then click enter. The more settings button is never visible. I have used applications that allow you to force windows to be resizable, however the anchoring is such that it remains cut off. This has been present over multiple clean installs on the system. My DPI is set to 100% unlike this issue.

  • apt - Remove not configured package

    I have a Linux-Mint Debian Edition System. When I install sendmail I get an infinite loop. Reading configuration from /etc/mail/sendmail.conf. Validating configuration. Creating /etc/mail/databases... Reading configuration from /etc/mail/sendmail.conf. Validating configuration. Creating /etc/mail/databases... When I try dpkg --configure -a it is the same. Now I want to simple remove sendmail from the installation queue - but I can't simply do that, because apt-get always wants to configure sendmail first. Is there a way to force apt-get to remove sendmail or set it to "configured" - even though the package is not properly configured?

  • Get the "source network address" in Event ID 529 audit entries on Windows XP

    In windows server 2003 when an Event 529 (logon failure) occures with a logon type of 10 (remote logon), the source network IP address is recorded in the event log. On a windows XP machine, this (and some other details) are omitted. If a bot is trying a brute force over RDP (some of my XP machines are (and need to be) exposed with a public IP address), i cannot see the originating IP address so i don't know what to block (with a script i run every few minutes). The DC does not log this detail either when the logon attempt is to the client xp machine and the DC is only asked to authenticate the credentials. Any help getting this detail in the log would be appreciated.

  • Jquery interactive table - multiple instance problem

    Hello forgive me if i use the wrong terminology and the messiness of this code it is the first time I have used jquery. I am making an interactive table-product selector. Compatible systems run along the top and colour choices down the left. The table works by seeing if there is a cell is empty in a html table. If the cell is empty then that is a compatible system and a circle image is in that cell and it is selectable. When selected the product code is generated (by looking at the colour value and system name) and the relevant resource download pack can be downloaded. This works 'fine' when on its own on a page however when I have multiple instances of it on one page they interfere with each other. Only the first one works and clicking in the 2nd 3rd etc table updates the first one. I need these to function independant of each other.   • Detecting if youtube is blocked by company / ISP

    We have Youtube videos on a site and want to detect if it is likely that they will not be able to view them due to (mostly likely) company policy or otherwise. We have two sites: 1) Flex / Flash 2) HTML I think with Flex I can attempt to download http://youtube.com/crossdomain.xml and if it is valid XML assume the site is available But with HTML I dont know how to do it. I cant even think of a 'nice hack'

  • NetBeans needs Javadoc, Eclipse does not?

    I just installed NetBeans, and want to try it out. Some context tips (popup javadoc stuff) work, but nothing detailed. It says "Javadoc not found...". However, I use Eclipse (my current IDE) and it has no problem showing detailed context tips. Do I HAVE to download the 100+mb zip file to get the javadoc, or can I have Netbeans point to whatever Eclipse is already aware of?

  • Is visiting HTTPS websites on a public hotspot secure?

    It's often said that HTTPS SSL/TLS connections are encrypted and said to be secure because the communication between the server and me is encrypted (also provides server authentication) so if someone sniffs my packets, they will need zillions of years to decrypt if using brute force in theory. Let's assume I'm on a public wifi and there is a malicious user on the same wifi who sniffs every packet. Now let's assume I'm trying to access my gmail account using this wifi. My browser does a SSL/TLS handshake with the server and gets the keys to use for encryption and decryption. If that malicious user sniffed all my incoming and outgoing packets. Can he calculate the same keys and read my encrypted traffic too or even send encrypted messages to the server in my name?

  • Interested in scp recipe for sftp [closed]

    You wrote in a reply this Blockquote The problem is that sftp runs as the user's id -- first, the sftp client ssh's into the target host as the given user, then runs sftp-server. Since sftp-server is running as a regular user, it has no way to "give away" a file (change owner of a file). However, if you are able to use scp, and assign a key pair to each user, you can get around this. This involves adding a user's key to root's ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file, with a "command=" parameter to force it to run a script that sanitizes and alters the arguments of the server-side scp program. I've used this technique before to set up an anonymous scp dropbox that allowed anyone to submit a file, and ensure that no one could retrieve submitted files and also prevent overwrites. If you are open to this technique, let me know and I'll update this post with a quick recipe. We are interested in this scp quick recipe for our community services file sharing.     I am trying to get samba working with groups. I am using CentOS. #sswords = yes lanman auth = no null passwords = no hosts allow = 129.130.155. netbios name = a server server string = base PHP server [team$] path= /var/www writable = yes valid users = @team force group = @team I have created a few users in linux, and added them to a group called team using groupadd -a -g username. I the attempted to login and got a NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_GROUP. If I comment out the two last lines in the config it works, but I wish to have group ownership and prefer just to be able to add users to a group in Linux and for it to work with the samba.

    Hi For my iPhone application I need to read some content of a plain html file on the web. It's just some text within a pre-tag. However I don't want to download the whole file and then get the line I need. The format is: TextTextTextTextTextTextTextText TextTextTextTextTextTextTextText TextTextTextTextTextTextTextText TextTextTextTextTextTextTextText I only need the first line and then close the connection to that resource.
