  Hi, I have an array of numbers jumbled up from 0-9. How do I sort them in ascending order? Array.Sort doesn't work for me. Is there another way to do it? Thanks in advance. EDIT: Array.Sort gives me this error.   I have a list which can contain multiple occurrences of the same object. Now I need to count, how often the given object is contained in this list. int count = 0; foreach (IMyObject item in myList) if (item == object2Count) count++; I am sure that this can be done nicer with LINQ, but LINQ is still a mystery to me. My first question is: How would I count the objects via LINQ and the second question: Will this LINQ version be slower or faster? Is this because I have used position:relative;?   How can I hide the New / Actions / Upload / Settings menus within a list or document library in SharePoint? Note that I need to be able to hide these menus for a particular list definition (template) and not just all lists or document libraries. One possible way that I know of is to register a , and set the ControlClass element to a control that inherits from WebControl. In the WebControl, I can override OnPreRender, which then does this: foreach (Control control in this.Parent.Controls) { if (control.ToString() == "Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.NewMenu") { control.Visible = false; } // etc } This is pretty hacky, and I was just wondering if there is a better way of doing it?

• Align text with right edge of an html form

  I have an html form where the width of a textarea is specified with cols=. I want the textarea to have a specific width in terms of number of characters. However, I also want some controls to be right-justified to the right edge of the textarea. They're not in the textarea, but directly above or below it. Is it possible to do this? I was thinking a possible approach might be enclosing the textarea with some type of container that could grow to the width of the textarea, but I'm not sure how I could right-justify text within that.

Is keys %FIELDS the only way? Secondarily, is there a more efficient way to pre-populate the fields in the constructor than looping through and assigning each parameter as I am above? Thanks!

• Fast way to pass a simple java object from one thread to another

  I have a callback which receives an object. I make a copy of this object, and I must pass it on to another thread for further processing. It's very important for the callback to return as fast as possible. Ideally, the callback will write the copy to some sort of lock-free container. I only have the callback called from a single thread and one processing thread. I only need to pass a bunch of doubles to the other thread, and I know the maximum number of doubles (around 40). Any ideas? I'm not very familiar with Java, so I don't know the usual ways to pass stuff between threads.

• What are the alternatives for Java authentication?

  Preferably something that integrates well with a Flex front end. Yes the Spring Security guys say this is possible, but all examples seem to use legacy jsp tag libraries making them half useless as examples. I don't want to spend a month setting up and learning how to use a security tool. I would like a tool which supports using annotations (@RolesAllowed etc), MINIMAL XML, and 'remember-me' features (not cookie based). Apache Shiro seems to support Flex/Silverlight/Swing as well but I'd like to know if there are any other alternatives that are NOT container specific.

  I am not sure if this is the write place to ask the question. However i hope it is. When looking for a VPS earlier today, I was trying to understand how each container would work in the background. Keeping in mind the fact that the operating system uses most of the power and power on a system, wouldn't having multiple operating systems in the same machine mean more wastage of resources. For instance if i was running centOS on a dedicated box and it was running lets say 20 background OS level processes. Then i go and install a virtualization platform and install 5 more centOS virtual machines in the same system which are exactly the same as the host operating system. Doesn't this mean duplication of those 20 processes 6 times? So internally the context switching is happening between 120 processes instead of 20?

• Does the jQuery .unbind() method only work on jQuery created events?

  I am trying to unbind all event handlers for all elements that are inside a particular container. Like a DIV. But those events have been bound/registered not using jQuery. Some are bound the manual way with onclick="...." or using regular native JavaScript. But when i do something like this $('#TheDivContainer').find('div,td,tr,tbody,table').unbind(); It does not appear to work. Which leads me to believe that the .unbind() only works if the events have been originally bound by jQuery. Is that true? Is there another way of unbinding all events from a group of elements ?   I currently have a object called Week. A week is part of a Season object. the season can contain many weeks. What I want to do is find the position of my week (is it the first week in the season (so #1) or is it the second (so #2). int i = 0; foreach ( var w in Season.Weeks.OrderBy(w => w.WeekStarts)){ if(w.Id == Id){ return i; } i+=1; } At the moment this is what I have. I order the weeks in a second by there start date to make sure they are in the correct order. and I cycle through them until I find the week that matches the week I am currently looking at. and return the int that I have been counting up.. I feel there should be a easier linq way to do this as it feels pretty messy!

Instead of doing this: $self->process_items($xml->findnodes('items/item')); I want to do something like: $self->process_items(\$xml->findnodes('items/item')); So that in process_items() I can dereference the original array instead of creating a copy: sub process_items { my ($self, $items) = @_; foreach my $item (@$items) { # do something... } } I can always store the results of findnodes() into an array and then pass the array reference to my own method, but let's say I want to try a reduced version of my code. • Padding/Margin/Border On Element Does Not Change DIV Height

  Here is a very simply jsFiddle to demonstrate my problem: http://jsfiddle.net/ryandlf/mSmUv/4/ When an element has a top padding or margin and it sits on the first line within a div, the div does not respect that padding or margin and push the element down. In most cases this isn't an issue, but for example, if I have a button that has a top border and padding the top of the border will be cut off because the div is not taking into consideration the padding value. Is there a workaround for this other than just blindly setting margins or padding on every container div element and hoping I have added enough to account for any internal element that might be affected?
