    Hi guys, I was wondering if i could assign values to a variable inside an IF statement. My code is as follows: <?php if ((count($newArray) = array("hello", "world")) == 0) { // do something } ?> So basically i want assign the array to the $newArray variable, then count newArray and check to see if it is an empty array.   • Recursion problem; completely lost

    So I've been trying to solve this assignment whole day, just can't get it. The following function accepts 2 strings, the 2nd (not 1st) possibly containing *'s (asterisks). An * is a replacement for a string (empty, 1 char or more), it can appear appear (only in s2) once, twice, more or not at all, it cannot be adjacent to another * (ab**c), no need to check that. public static boolean samePattern(String s1, String s2) It returns true if strings are of the same pattern. It must be recursive, not use any loops, static & global variables. Can use local variables & method overloading. Can use only these methods: charAt(i), substring(i), substring(i, j), length(). Examples: 1: TheExamIsEasy; 2: "The*xamIs*y" --- true 1: TheExamIsEasy; 2: "Th*mIsEasy*" --- true 1: TheExamIsEasy; 2: "*" --- true 1: TheExamIsEasy; 2: "TheExamIsEasy" --- true 1: TheExamIsEasy; 2: "The*IsHard" --- FALSE I tried comparing the the chars one by one using charAt until an asterisk is encountered, then check if the asterisk is an empty one by comparing is successive char (i+1) with the char of s1 at position i, if true -- continue recursion with i+1 as counter for s2 & i as counter for s1; if false -- continue recursion with i+1 as counters for both. Continue this until another asterisk is found or end of string. I dunno, my brain loses track of things, can't concentrate, any pointers / hints? Am I in the right direction? Also, it's been told that a backtracking technique is to be used to solve this.   • Change MS Access to Exclusive on the fly

    I have a process in an MS Acess database that the users will usually run once daily, but could be more or less. It takes several minutes and requires temporary exclusive access because it deletes and recreates the main table. I have code to check to see if there are other users in the db before the process starts, but is there a way to change the access to "exclusive" at the beginning, and then change it back to open access at the end?     I am using fcntl locks in C on linux and have a dilemma of trying to delete a file that may possibly be locked from other processes that also check for the fcntl locking mechanism. What would be the preferred way of handling this file which must be deleted, (Should I simply delete the file w/o regard of other processes that may have reader locks or is there a better way)? Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Memory corruption in System.Move due to changed 8087CW mode (png + stretchblt)

    I have strange a memory corruption problem. After many hours debugging and trying I think I found something. For example: I do a simple string assignment: sTest := 'SET LOCK_TIMEOUT '; However, the result sometimes becomes: sTest = 'SET LOCK'#0'TIMEOUT ' So, the _ gets replaced by an 0 byte. I have seen this happening once (reproducing is tricky, dependent on timing) in the System.Move function, when it uses the FPU stack (fild, fistp) for fast memory copy (in case of 9 till 32 bytes to move): ... @@SmallMove: {9..32 Byte Move} fild qword ptr [eax+ecx] {Load Last 8} fild qword ptr [eax] {Load First 8} cmp ecx, 8 jle @@Small16 fild qword ptr [eax+8] {Load Second 8} cmp ecx, 16 jle @@Small24 fild qword ptr [eax+16] {Load Third 8} fistp qword ptr [edx+16] {Save Third 8} ... Normally it is $133F: The difference between $133F and $027F is that $027F sets up the FPU for doing less precise calculations (limiting to Double in stead of Extended) and different infiniti handling (which was used for older FPU’s, but is not used any more). Okay, now I found why but not when! What to do now? Is it a fault of Windows, or a bug in PNG (included in D2007)? Or is the System.Move function not failsafe?

    Hey guys, I'm working on tile collision. Currently, I just draw the tile map the normal way (two for loops) and there is no scrolling. Right now, to check if my player is over a tile, I use tileX = (int)person1v.X / 16; tileY = (int)person1v.Y / 16; However, I want to detect collision before I hit the tile so it could act as a wall. How do I detect collision before even making the move?

    My project contains WinForms, WPF, and Windows Service programs running on users' office desktop PCs. I want these applications to periodically check for new versions available at specific URL, automatically download new versions and replace themselves with new versions without attracting any user attention (keeping in mind that users may run Windows from XP to 7 and work using non-privileged account (which can be part of active directory)). Alternatively the whole update package has to be able to be distributed as an unattended-installed MSI package. Any recommendations on implementing this?

  • ASP.NET MVC not serving default document

    I have an ASP.NET MVC application where the default page should be an index.html. I can browse to the file using www.mydomain.com/index.html but if I use www.mydomain.com I get a 404. I have check to see if the default document is correctly set in IIS7 and it is and I have even commented out all my routes to ensure it isn't that. Does anyone know how to get ASP.NET MVC to serve the default document?

I want to add functionality so that when the user types in the username field, an ajax call is triggered to check whether the username is already taken. My requirements are: Preferably integrate with JQuery Validation plugin, rather than writing a custom function I want the lookup to occur on the nkeyup event I want the lookup to be triggered approx 0.5 seconds after the keyup event has occurred.
