  • Unable to add IPv6 address to sendmail access list

    - by David M. Syzdek
I am running Sendmail 8.14.4 on Slackware 13.37. I have the following in my /etc/mail/access file and it works without any errors: Connect:127 OK Connect:10.0.1 RELAY # Net: office Connect:50.116.6.8 RELAY # Host: glider Connect:96.126.127.87 RELAY # Host: kite The above configuration also allows me to send an e-mail via IPv6 to a local user on the mail server. However, it does not allow my office to relay via IPv6. I have tried two ways of adding IPv6 networks to my access file. Method 1: Connect:127 OK Connect:10.0.1 RELAY # Net: office Connect:IPv6:2001:470:b:84a RELAY # Net: office Connect:50.116.6.8 RELAY # Host: glider Connect:96.126.127.87 RELAY # Host: kite Method 2: Connect:127 OK Connect:10.0.1 RELAY # Net: office Connect:[IPv6:2001:470:b:84a] RELAY # Net: office Connect:50.116.6.8 RELAY # Host: glider Connect:96.126.127.87 RELAY # Host: kite However whenever I try using either method 1 or 2, I am unable to relay e-mail messages through the host. /var/log/maillog entry: May 31 11:57:15 freshsalmon sm-mta[25500]: ruleset=check_relay, arg1=[IPv6:2001:470:b:84a:223:6cff:fe80:35dc], arg2=IPv6:2001:470:b:84a:223:6cff:fe80:35dc, relay=[IPv6:2001:470:b:84a:223:6cff:fe80:35dc], reject=553 5.3.0 RELAY # Net:office Test session from telnet: syzdek@blackenhawk$ telnet -6 freshsalmon.office.example.com 25 Trying 2001:470:b:84a::69... Update: Apparently my access file was not working regardless. Removing the comments at the end of the line seems to have fixed the problem. Here is the lines which worked: Connect:127 OK Connect:IPv6:::1 OK # Net: office Connect:10.0.1 RELAY Connect:IPv6:2001:470:b:84a RELAY # Host: glider Connect:50.116.6.8 RELAY Connect:IPv6:2600:3c01::f03c:91ff:fedf:381a RELAY # Host: kite Connect:96.126.127.87 RELAY Connect:IPv6:2600:3c00::f03c:91ff:fedf:52a4 RELAY

  • Why does Ubuntu 9.10 hang during boot at "Booting processor 1 APIC 0x1 ip 0x6000"?

    - by BraeburnDev
I recently installed a new copy of Ubuntu 9.10 (Kernel 2.6.31-14) on to my Hp Pavilion dv6t, so I can setup a Linux development environment. The install went flawlessly and I proceeded with Ubuntu's udate manager's long list of updates (292 in all). I also setup a swap file and activated a Nvidia 185 driver for the Nvidia 260m GPU on the machine. After all this was done I restarted the computer and booted into Ubuntu this time with a newer 2.6.31-19 Kernel which was installed from the update manager. During booth the computer hung at this point: Feb 24 14:23:12 braeburn-laptop kernel: [ 0.013136] Performance Counters: Nehalem/Corei7 events, Intel PMU driver. Hopefully this is enough information to go on. I should add that I'm still new to configuring and running a Linux OS although I know enough basic command line usage to do software development. This is my attempt to become more familiar with Linux and manage my own system. I'd like to get some insight on the nature of this system hang, what the problem is and how to resolve it. At this point I can scrap the install if I broke something, but my intuition says this is an issue with the kernel recognizing the correct hardware configuration for my system, or perhaps this is an issue with the APIC drivers managing Nehalem's new power management capabilities? Thanks for looking at this issue and providing feed back.

My mac routing table usually is very simple. I know it's based on bsd , but what's it doing or trying to do. My routing table is usually very simple however, the second one, default was point to link5 ? Is this normal, or is this IPV6 craziness at work? • Are random packets normal?

    - by TheLQ
About a month ago on one of my servers I started receiving random packets from IPs all over the world. So I did the smart thing and stopped putting off installing an IDS. This IDS is a ClearOS Gateway which comes with Snort and SnortSam. I enabled it, checked There is a total of 4 ports open, two of which forward to the server I'm talking about. These ports are 3724 and 8085, so they aren't going to be easily detected in a port scan. However checking some logs of this server I found that the attack is resuming. I found this ... Accepting connection from '75.166.155.122' [Auth] got unknown packet from '75.166.155.122' Accepting connection from '98.164.154.93' [Auth] got unknown packet from '98.164.154.93' Ping MySQL to keep connection alive Accepting connection from '70.241.195.129' [Auth] got unknown packet from '70.241.195.129' Accepting connection from '67.182.229.169' [Auth] got unknown packet from '67.182.229.169' Accepting connection from '69.137.140.38' [Auth] got unknown packet from '69.137.140.38' Accepting connection from '76.31.72.55' [Auth] got unknown packet from '76.31.72.55' Accepting connection from '97.88.139.39' [Auth] got unknown packet from '97.88.139.39' Accepting connection from '173.35.62.112' [Auth] got unknown packet from '173.35.62.112' Accepting connection from '187.15.10.73' [Auth] got unknown packet from '187.15.10.73' Accepting connection from '66.66.94.124' [Auth] got unknown packet from '66.66.94.124' Accepting connection from '75.159.219.124' [Auth] got unknown packet from '75.159.219.124' Accepting connection from '99.102.100.82' [Auth] got unknown packet from '99.102.100.82' Accepting connection from '24.128.240.45' [Auth] got unknown packet from '24.128.240.45' Accepting connection from '99.231.7.39' [Auth] got unknown packet from '99.231.7.39' Accepting connection from '206.255.79.56' [Auth] got unknown packet from '206.255.79.56' Accepting connection from '68.97.106.235' [Auth] got unknown packet from '68.97.106.235' Accepting connection from '69.134.67.251' [Auth] got unknown packet from '69.134.67.251' Accepting connection from '63.228.138.186' [Auth] got unknown packet from '63.228.138.186' Accepting connection from '184.39.146.193' [Auth] got unknown packet from '184.39.146.193' Accepting connection from '69.171.161.102' [Auth] got unknown packet from '69.171.161.102' Accepting connection from '76.0.47.228' [Auth] got unknown packet from '76.0.47.228' Ping MySQL to keep connection alive Accepting connection from '126.112.201.14' [Auth] got unknown packet from '126.112.201.14' Ping MySQL to keep connection alive Now that scares me. Why isn't Snort detecting this? How were they able to find this specific port? More importantly, what normally would these packets contain? Is this something I should be worried about? How can I stop this?

  • SSL connection error during handshake on Windows Server 2008 R2

    - by Thomas
    I have a Windows 2008 R2 Server that runs a HTTPS Tunneling service. The software uses a certificate that is provided via the Windows certificate store. The certificate is located in the local computer private certificates. It supports server and client authentication with signing and keyencipherment. Cert chain The certificate chain looks fine. It's a Thawte SSL123 certificate. Thawte Premium Server CA (SHA1) [?e0 ab 05 94 20 72 54 93 05 60 62 02 36 70 f7 cd 2e fc 66 66] thawte Primary Root CA [?1f a4 90 d1 d4 95 79 42 cd 23 54 5f 6e 82 3d 00 00 79 6e a2] Thawte DV SSL CA [3c a9 58 f3 e7 d6 83 7e 1c 1a cf 8b 0f 6a 2e 6d 48 7d 67 62] Server certificate Issues Most browsers accept the certificate without any warning. • How do you splice out a part of an xvid encoded avi file, with ffmpeg? (no problems with other files

    - by yegor
Im using the following command, which works for most files, except what seems to be xvid encoded ones /usr/bin/ffmpeg -sameq -i file.avi -ss 00:01:00 -t 00:00:30 -ac 2 -r 25 -copyts output.avi So this should basically splice out 30 seconds of video + audio, starting from 1 minute mark. It does START encoding at the 00:01:00 mark but it goes all the way to the end of the file for some reason, ignoring that I want just 30 seconds. The output looks like this. • Newly configured MSSQL2008, TIME_WAIT but no ESTABLISHED?

    - by 3molo
    Windows 2008 R2, standard. No firewall locally on it. Newly setup because an old SQL2000 had two disks die (or could it be the raid controller?) at the same time. Luckily, I had fresh backups. The databases have been restored, and SP2 for SQL2008 applied. I can see various hosts trying to establish a session, but the (customer) sites does not work and I don't see the expected established sessions. A wireshark reveals a full three-way handshake. Since it's customer machines connecting, I cannot logon to them and restart application pools.. What on earth could be causing this? No. Time Source Destination Protocol Info 1 0.000000 1.2.5.127 1.2.6.133 TCP desktop-dna > ms-sql-s [SYN] Seq=0 Win=65535 Len=0 MSS=1380 SACK_PERM=1 Frame 1: 62 bytes on wire (496 bits), 62 bytes captured (496 bits) Ethernet II, Src: Cisco_31:5e:09 (00:26:0b:31:5e:09), Dst: Vmware_b7:00:05 (00:50:56:b7:00:05) Internet Protocol, Src: 1.2.5.127 (1.2.5.127), Dst: 1.2.6.133 (1.2.6.133) Transmission Control Protocol, Src Port: desktop-dna (2763), Dst Port: ms-sql-s (1433), Seq: 0, Len: 0 No. Time Source Destination Protocol Info 2 0.000123 1.2.6.133 1.2.5.127 TCP ms-sql-s > desktop-dna [SYN, ACK] Seq=0 Ack=1 Win=8192 Len=0 MSS=1460 SACK_PERM=1 Frame 2: 62 bytes on wire (496 bits), 62 bytes captured (496 bits) Ethernet II, Src: Vmware_b7:00:05 (00:50:56:b7:00:05), Dst: Cisco_31:5e:09 (00:26:0b:31:5e:09) Internet Protocol, Src: 1.2.6.133 (1.2.6.133), Dst: 1.2.5.127 (1.2.5.127) Transmission Control Protocol, Src Port: ms-sql-s (1433), Dst Port: desktop-dna (2763), Seq: 0, Ack: 1, Len: 0 No. Time Source Destination Protocol Info 3 0.000884 1.2.5.127 1.2.6.133 TCP desktop-dna > ms-sql-s [ACK] Seq=1 Ack=1 Win=65535 Len=0 And netstat TCP 1.2.6.133:1433 1.2.2.98:26895 TIME_WAIT 0 TCP 1.2.6.133:1433 1.2.2.98:26912 TIME_WAIT 0 TCP 1.2.6.133:1433 1.2.2.98:26918 TIME_WAIT 0 TCP 1.2.6.133:1433 1.2.2.98:26931 TIME_WAIT 0 TCP 1.2.6.133:1433 1.2.5.127:2736 TIME_WAIT 0 TCP 1.2.6.133:1433 1.2.5.127:2737 TIME_WAIT 0 TCP 1.2.6.133:1433 1.2.5.127:2738 TIME_WAIT 0 TCP 1.2.6.133:1433 1.2.5.127:2739 TIME_WAIT 0

  • Emails not being delivered

    - by Tomtiger11
Comment pointed out that this may fix my problem, and it did: Why don't mails show up in the recipient's mailspool? I use Postfix with Dovecot, and when I send an email from my gmail to my server, it is received at the server, but not at my email client using POP3. • Some services refusing to start on Win 7 machine. What could the root cause be?

    - by BombDefused
When I check msconfig, there are no services that are blocked from starting up. When I look in services.msc, the problem services have a start up type of 'Automatic', but have a blank space where others will show 'Started'. Attempting to start them manually results in the following pop up error messages. I have no idea what's causing this, looks like some sort of cascade effect from another problem service. It's affecting scheduled tasks, SQL server agent and windows back up services. How can I resolve this? I don't know how to work out what the root cause is. Task Scheduler Service Start Error: "Windows could not start the Task Scheduler service on local computer. 1068: The dependecy service or group failed to start. SQL Server Service Start Error: "The SQL Server Agent service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs." UPDATE: I've just noticed some other services have a description of "Failed to Read Description. Error Code: 2" They are: NetMsmqActivator, NetPipeActivator, NetTcpActivator, NetTcpPortSharing UPDATE 2: As joeqwerty says the Event Log service does seem to be the root of the problem. This service will not start either. It fails with 'Error 31 - A device attached to the system is not functioning correctly'. I've tried detaching all devices. I've also followed the advice here, where the same problem is described, but with no luck: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprosecurity/thread/44479c49-55e6-4bd7-b25e-3f2a6497306e Update 3 @ Pacey - The following was a good tip, really clear instruction. However, I found that those reg keys do not exist on my system. "Your Problem might also derive from the UpperFilter or LowerFilter Settings of the CDROM Drive. These are a known cause for Errorcode 31. You can find step-by-step instructions on removing the filters on about.com" I followed the advice through to checking every component in device manager separately, but everything is reported as working correctly!? These services did all work at one point. The hardware set up hasn't changed much. Guess I'm looking at a repair install maybe???!

  • How do you splice out a part of an xvid encoded avi file, with ffmpeg? (no problems with other files)

    - by user11955
Im using the following command, which works for most files, except what seems to be xvid encoded ones /usr/bin/ffmpeg -sameq -i file.avi -ss 00:01:00 -t 00:00:30 -ac 2 -r 25 -copyts output.avi So this should basically splice out 30 seconds of video + audio, starting from 1 minute mark. It does START encoding at the 00:01:00 mark but it goes all the way to the end of the file for some reason, ignoring that I want just 30 seconds. The output looks like this. In the following output of df -h you can see that i have added a new hard drive(/dev/hdd1) and have mounted as /hdd1. My question is if I start dumping data to /opt will that data be mounted in /hdd1 or / My goal is to utilise the new hdd1 instead of old disk(/dev/sda3). How can this be done?
