• Windows Hosted Network Redirect to IIS

  I would like to setup a Windows 7 machine as a wifi hotspot that always redirects to the IIS web hosting on the same machine. I have the hotspot piece working with the built in hosted network of Widnows 7. The webhosting was easy enough with IIS. Now, how do I connect the 2? The idea is to have a standalone device that users will be able to connect to the wifi and any webpage they go to will redirect to the internal webpage. I only expect 1 or 2 users at a time and there won't be any internet access involved.

• How can I mount .IMG floppy disk images which are not 1.44MB or any other floppy format?

  I have several .IMG files, but they are different sizes which do not comform to any floppy disk format, i.e. not 1.44MB, 720K, 2.88MB... these .IMG files are like 420K, 832K, etc. Additional info: Winimage, rar, Magic ISO... none of these worked. The files I want to download are located in www.vetusware.com under DBMSOracle6. They are 2 files in rar format, but when I extract the rar's, I get forty-two .IMG files with varied sizes, not 1.44MB, etc. If anyone could please give it a try and succeed in mounting or reading the extractd IMG files, I would appreciate you letting me know how you achieved it, I really need this legacy Oracle 6/DOS version!..   I have the same Problem as described here: Disable spell checking in Internet Explorer 10 (Windows 8) My system: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit What I've already done: Deactivating the spelling options: (There may be minor differences between the following screenshot and the actual 8.1 display. I copied it from here because I own a German Version and I therefore thought that an English one would be simpler to understand.) I turned both options off and tried to restart IE. It's still "correcting" my texts. Searching for 'spelling correction' addons As said in the picture, this entry does not exist on my PC. (The following screenshot is taken from here) Is there any way of disabling it? I prefer an "official" solution if one is available. Otherwise, I also take any registry involving Solutions.

• Using Pidgin 2.5.2 in Linux no sound is made for incoming messages (as it should)

  Hi, I have a problem with Pidgin 2.5.2 in Linux (Ubuntu 8.10). When someone sends me a message no sound is played (the tray indicates a new message and blinks, that's it). Sounds play fine when I send someone a message. If I preview the Message received and Message sent sound events both of them do make a sound. Automatic and ALSA is what's working from the alternatives in Sound method selection. I include a screenshot containing a lot of relevant information: Screenshot (It's to big to fit nicely inline.)

• Browser-based Operating System

  I have a bunch of touchscreen machines that I want to display a webpage on and have users interact with the webpage via the touchscreen. Right now, this is done with a full-blown OS with a browser set to run at startup. I think maybe the ideal solution is to use a Linux-based OS that boots up, starts X, then starts a web browser (Chrome, Firefox, or whatever) in full screen mode. What kind of options do I have? I really want to avoid using a full-blown OS like I do now. It looks unprofessional and takes a while to boot up. I was thinking maybe Chrome OS or something, but I wouldn't know how to set it up for my purposes, since it's still designed to be used as a desktop OS instead of a kiosk-type OS.

  When I look at the options used from Internet Explorer for the cookies, I read the following description: Blocca i cookie di terze party privi di una versione compatta dell'informativa sulla privacy. Its translation is roughtly: Blocks the cookies without a compact version of the privacy's informative. I don't get which cookies are blocked. From that description, it seems the cookies should include a compact description of the privacy informative, but I don't get how cookies can contain that information, or what happens with cookies set from sites outside the European Union. What cookies are blocked? The screenshot has been taken from Internet Explorer 9, but that words were used also from previous versions. The settings are the ones shown for the "Privacy" tab; I don't recall if the English version calls that tab the same way. EDIT, English screenshot .

• where do i find the drivers for a F5D7000 Belkin wireless adapter?

  So I plugged an F5D7000 Belkin desktop wireless adapter into my desktop. Here is a picture of it: I did a Google search and found the drivers. I installed the latest version - (F5D7000 - Driver - Version 8xxx), and the NIC is still unrecognized as per the next screenshot: Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this working? I'm running Windows XP SP3 32-bit. (I have taken a screenshot but without network connectivity I can't email it or post it anywhere and I don't have a USB stick.)

• Is there a way to insert a formatted calculation into Excel 2010 without using an image?

  I am maintaining a list of database column names, notes, and their calculations in an Excel 2010 spreadsheet. The calculations are included so as to document how to derive the values for the various columns and not for calculations within the spreadsheet. I have been entering the calculations into the cells simply as unformatted text like so: 100 - ((FiscalYearRegionConsumption - BaselineRegionConsumption) / (GoalRegionConsumption - BaselineRegionConsumption)) * 100 However, for long and/or complex calculations this could become rather unreadable. To improve readability and comprehension I would like to "pretty" print the calculation in an Excel cell. This would result in formatting that would like like this: The only solution I have come up with is to: Write the calculation in another application such as Word Take a screenshot of said calculation Past the screenshot into Excel The primary concern with this approach is maintenance. Should the calculation change or need correction I have to update two different sources of information. Is there a better way included a formatted calculation into an Excel cell?

• harddrive problem (usb external)

  Hey guys I am using a Maxtor One Touch 3 given to my by my uncle. It is connected through USB2.0 When I plug it in, XP installs it and says "the device is ready to use". But it dosnt show up on my computer. It dosn't even show up in disk mangement. I then install Acronis Disk Director (which detects it) but marks it as offline. if i try to change it to online, nothing happens. (actually the lights on the HD blink - meaning communication and goes back into offline mode). The lights on the HD return to a solid which mean "working properly". • Browsing freezes after installing SP2 on Vista

  After installing SP2 on Vista 32-bit HP laptop, all browsers (Firefox, IE, Maxthon) periodically freeze randomly. It occurs when opening a new webpage. It might happen after 45 minutes of browsing, or 3 minutes. The only way to get out of it is to right click the taskbar, "end program", and say "close now" when it tries to search for a solution. Or occasionally, I have to hard reboot. It doesn't seem to correlate with any one particular type of webpage, but I'm assuming that something being loaded doesn't play well with my system. I would uninstall SP2, but it fixed several even more annoying system problems I'd had with my computer.

• Why is Chrome receiving data?

  Chrome seems to be continually receiving data even though I'm not downloading anything. This is making a noticeable impact on my browsing speed. The first screenshot shows Chrome receiving data even though I'm not downloading anything (nor buffering a YouTube video etc.) Even after I completely close Google Chrome, the "chrome.exe" remains in the Resource Monitor list and the "Received bytes" column continually increases in the screenshot below. However, "chrome.exe" does not show up in the Processes tab of Task Manager. This only occurs sometimes, but I don't know why. I have tried running a malware/virus scans to ensure that there is nothing malicious behind this, but those scans have shown nothing. Any ideas on what's causing this?

Sometimes I get a message that says: "This webpage has disabled automatic filling for this form" Is there a way that I can tell Chrome to ignore what the webpage wants and just give me what I want? • MSSQL, ASP.NET, IIS. SQL Server perfmon log question

  Hi, I'm testing a web application that runs on a hypervisor. The database server and the webserver are seperate vm's that run on the same hypervisor. We did some tests and the functions perform ok. I want you guys to look at a screenshot of a permon log of the sql 2005 server on the busiest moment. The webserver perfmon log looks fine and it's obvious that we have enough resources to present the page in a timely fashion. http://d.imagehost.org/view/0919/heavyload http://d.imagehost.org/0253/heavyloadz.jpg Zoomed out The striped blue line maxing out is the Processor que length (scale 100,0) The green line at around value 30 is Available MBytes (scale 0,01) The rest of the counters are visible on the screenshot. The sql server machine has no CPU limitations on the hypervisor resources and has 5 vcpu's and 5 GB RAM. Can someone help me to interpret this log. Thanks

• OS X SnowLeopard menubar icons appear/disappear in 8 second cycle

  I just bought a new Mac Mini, and used Migration Assistant to move a user from an iMac to it. All went well, except a very strange behavior... the default OS X menubar icons like time, spotlight, etc (but NOT user installed app icons like dropbox or xmarks) appear and disappear in a very regular 8 second cycle. They appear for about 2 seconds, and then disappear for about 6. This is a screenshot with the icons, and this is a screenshot without them. This is very annoying and I have not found anything online with similar symptoms. Any ideas?

  Hi all, I have a combination chart with a bar chart and 2 line graphs on secondary axis. have to exactly match the formatting in the screenshot attached ( I do not have the actual excel file. just have a screenshot). If you have a look - you can see the markers on line graphs do not align. The red line markers are skewed slightly to the left. Also, in the legend at the bottom - secondary axis legends are separated out to the bottom. I don't know how to do that either. Any help is greatly appreciated

I've always thought they are what they say they are (recoveries and what not), why are there so many of them? and why do they all say 100% Free (i.e. they're all empty!). If that's the case, what happened to my recovery? Info: I'm on Dell Inspiron 7520 Windows 8 Single Language (Had Kali installed on SSD a couple of days ago, now I've just deleted that and will install Kali on VM on SSD, that's drive (S:). • Hide a 2nd Monitor from a Programs Print Screen

  I run 2 monitors on a PC that also runs a program for the Freelancing site Elance.com. The program they provide, takes screenshots and uploads them to my account for a client to see at different intervals. My goal is to make the screenshot that the program takes and uploads, to somehow only take a shot of my "Main" or "Defualt" monitor and ignore my 2nd monitor. The main reason is my 2nd monitor generally has private data that I do not displayed to the world on a website. Does anyone know if there is any kind of program or trick I can use that will make it appear that I have 1 monitor when a Screenshot is taken? I am not sure how the program does it and how that works as I am a web developer and not a C++ or any kind of low level programmer. If the Elance program simply runs the same function that is called when a PrintScreen key is pressed on a keyboard, then I am thinking it might be possible to maybe trick that into only the default desktop? Any ideas or help would be appreciated, thank you

• Chrome: Selecting a link by doing search on its text

  I'm trying to use my computer using the keyboard exclusively, without touching the mouse. When browsing the web it can get hard. I use Tab to select links, but there are often dozens of links on a webpage. I can use Chrome's text search (Ctrl-F) to home in on a piece of text in no time; But I can't figure out how to use it to click on a link. For example, let's say there's a link on a webpage with the text "Swedish Furniture". I can easily find it by typing Ctrl-F s w e d, and then Chrome marks the link as found, but is there any way to follow the link after it's found without tabbing through all the links on the page?

  This week I was trying to setup LAN to my home. I couldn't login to the router webpage even though I tried all the username and password like admin etc... I want to ask: Why username and password is required to access modem/router webpage because its always usually admin and admin? What exactly happens inside router when you type correct username and password. Does the router store it internally or does it ask some ISP servers about it? Could someone explain what exactly happens internally in the router right from the configuration phase?
