Installing Qt libraries on OS X

I'm trying to install the Qt 4.8.3 precompiled libraries downloaded from http://qt-project.org/downloads on my OS X 10.6 machine. Unfortunately the package doesn't seem to actually install any libraries (although it claims to do so in the readme) I've read loads of instructions of how to configure and build Qt from source but these are precompiled, as in 'you don't have to compile them yourself'. So I must be missing something. Is there anyone out there who knows how to actually install Qt on OS X so that it is possible to link against them -without- building the whole thing from source. Java SWT - dissolve (fade) from one image to the next.

I'm pretty new to Java and SWT, hoping to have one image dissolve into the next. I have one image now in a Label (relevant code): Device dev = shell.getDisplay(); try { Image photo = new Image(dev, "photo.jpg"); } catch(Exception e) { } Label label = new Label(shell, SWT.IMAGE_JPEG); label.setImage(photo); Now I'd like photo to fade into a different image at a speed that I specify. Is this possible as set up here, or do I need to delve more into the org.eclipse.swt.graphics api? Also, this will be a slide show that may contain hundreds of photos, only ever moving forward (never back to a previous image)---considering this, is there something I explicitly need to do in order to remove the old images from memory? why gwt-user-1.7.0 contains Servlet API classes

Does anyone know any sane reason for such bundling decision? Google engineers act wisely in most cases, so this kinda surprized me. This would cause collisions with other versions of servlet API pulled via Maven dependencies: webapp classpath will likely contain version which is bundled with GWT; container may refuse to load the GWT jar as it contains the javax.servlet package; in most cases this will likely deviate classpaths across your IDE's debugger and the really executing VM. HTML/Javascript - Inconsistent positioning

I'm in the process of designing this site http://www.parisgaa.org/parisgaels and have a problem. The image slider on the homepage messes up sometimes. Most of the time it works and looks fine, but other times its positioning seems to get messed up and it appears underneath the content that should be below it (i.e. with that content overlapping the image). You should be able to replicate this in Chrome - just refresh a couple of times. I'd appreciate any help at all.

Python: get windows OS version and architecture

First of all, I don't think this question is a duplicate of http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2208828/detect-64bit-os-windows-in-python because imho it has not been thoroughly answered. The only approaching answer is: Use sys.getwindowsversion() or the existence of PROGRAMFILES(X86) (if 'PROGRAMFILES(X86)' in os.environ) But: Can we completely rely on the windows environment variable PROGRAMFILES(X86)? I fear that anyone can create it, even if it's not present on the system. How can we use sys.getwindowsversion() to get the architecture? Regarding sys.getwindowsversion(): The link http://docs.python.org/library/sys.html#sys.getwindowsversion leads us to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms724451%28VS.85%29.aspx but I don't see anything related to the architecture (32bit/64bit). Moreover, the platform element if the returned tuple seems to be independent of the architecture. One last note, I'm using python 2.5. Thanks!

Joomla - Warning! Failed to move file error

Hi Guys, I have found some solutions to this error and tried implementing them but none of which has worked and hope that some here at SO might have a different answer. I get this error, "Warning! Wordpress Custom Type permalink containing Taxonomy slug

I'm trying to create a permalink pattern for a Custom Type, that includes one of its taxonomies. The taxonomy name is known from the start (so I'm not trying to add or mix all of its taxonomies, just a specific one), but the value will by dynamic, of course. Normally, the Custom Type permalink is built using the rewrite arg with the slug param, but I don't see how I could add a dynamic variable in there. http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_post_type I'm guessing a custom solution is required, but I'm not sure what the best unintrusive approach would be. Is there a known practice for this or has anyone built something similar recently? I'm using WP 3.2.1 btw.

How to setup a http(s) proxy with record/replay functionality?

The use case is: I want to do some android app performance tests and I want to fix the data when app got from web. The solution I come up with is to setup a local http proxy, which can first record all http traffic, and later replay then app is running perf tests. I found http://mitmproxy.org/, which has exactly the features I want. but seems with the default settings it cannot be used as a https proxy. I tried using it as proxy and login to facebook but doesn't work. I am not familiar with the https protocol and how cert things work. Any one can provide some help? Thanks a lot.

When is a program limited by the memory bandwidth?

I want to know if a program that I am using and which requires a lot of memory is limited by the memory bandwidth. When do you expect this to happen? Did it ever happen to you in a real life scenario? How can I measure the memory bandwidth that a given program is using and how do I measure the (peak) bandwidth that my system can offer? I don't want to discuss any complicated cache issues here. I'm only interested in the communication between the CPU and the memory.

How to distribute the chance to display each SWF evenly among banner collection?

Hi all: I am working on The ausdcf.org to try adding several banner ads in swf format to the top. Everything starts to work, but I've got several questions that need your help: The client chose not to go with Google AdManager, but prefer a "minimal approach" to do this task. What I am trying to do is sort of "mimicking" the way Google AdManager does for banners, that is, to split the chance of each particular swf to be shown to the visitor evenly among the banner collection. Definitely I can add some jQuery code to do this from client-side, a random number generator and if-else statement would work - just $.load() it! However, what if I'd like to make sure those disabled Javascript (is there any now btw?) still be able to see different swfs in each visit. Any suggestion on how to approach this? Is "programmatically" a word? [closed]

I can't find it on any of the online dictionaries I know: dict.org, word reference, urban dictionary, oxford paravia, garzanti. To my ears of a non-native speaker, it sounds horrible. Actually it sounds like a word made-up by another non-native speaker that wanted to say something, didn't know how, and just hacked in a word of his language. The only place I've read it other then user-created-content is the android documentation, so this might or might not be related. Do you happen to know where did it start to be used, why by did it spread so much, what does it really mean?

Cant apply color theme to one frame in Emacs?

This is my emacs file http://pastie.org/1003551. I want the theme to change when I am in shell-mode. But what happens is that the theme gets applied on all the frames. I set the variable color-theme-is-global to nil, but still the same problem is persisting. (add-hook 'shell-mode-hook 'color-theme-monokai-terminal) (set-variable 'color-theme-is-global nil) These are lines 81 and 83 in my .emacs file. What should I do to make it work?

Lets say that I have a database structure with three tables that look like this: items - item_id - item_handle attributes - attribute_id - attribute_name item_attributes - item_attribute_id - item_id - attribute_id - attribute_value I would like to be able to do this in SQLAlchemy: item = Item('item1') item.foo = 'bar' session.add(item) session.commit() item1 = session.query(Item).filter_by(handle='item1').one() print item1.foo # => 'bar' I'm new to SQLAlchemy and I found this in the documentation (http://www.sqlalchemy.org/docs/05/mappers.html#mapping-a-class-against-multiple-tables): j = join(items, item_attributes, items.c.item_id == item_attributes.c.item_id). \ join(attributes, item_attributes.c.attribute_id == attributes.c.attribute_id) mapper(Item, j, properties={ 'item_id': [items.c.item_id, item_attributes.c.item_id], 'attribute_id': [item_attributes.c.attribute_id, attributes.c.attribute_id], }) It only adds item_id and attribute_id to Item and its not possible to add attributes to Item object. Is what I'm trying to achieve possible with SQLAlchemy? Is there a better way to structure the database to get the same behaviour of "dynamic columns"?

Listing documents directory contents in UITableView

So I've researched extensively on how to list the files in the documents directory in a table view and after much deliberation, came up with this code. Whenever I run this, the app crashes with EXEC_BAD_ACCESS. I've been busting my head for hours, so any help would be appreciated. All I'm doing is acquiring the files in the documents directory and trying to list them in a table view... How do you get 100% code coverage with guards in Haskell?

I'm trying to get (and prove) 100% test coverage for some code I'm writing in Haskell using HPC. However if I write something like this: fac n | n > 0 = n * (fac (n - 1)) | otherwise = 1 Then the second expression of the guard statement has always True tagged to it. What is the easiest way to overcome this in the general case? edit: Just to clarify. This code: fac n = if n > 0 then n * (fac (n - 1)) else 1 Works fine with HPC, (running it gives 100% code coverage). How can I use Amazon's API in PHP to search for books?

I'm working on a Facebook app for book sharing, reviewing, and recommendations. I've scoured the web, searched Google using every search phrase I could think of, but I could not find any tutorials on how to access the Amazon.com API for book information. I signed up for an AWS account, but even the tutorials on their website didn't help me one bit. They're all geared toward using cloud computing for file storage and processing, but that's not what I want. I just want to access their API to search info on books. Kind of like how http://openlibrary.org/ does it, where it's a simple URL call to get information on a book (but their databases aren't nearly as populated as Amazon's). Why is it so hard to find the information I need on Amazon's AWS site? If anybody could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Java Trusting ssl CA

I guess I am out of ideas here. I am trying to consume a web service in java which has an ssl certificate. I createt a a keystore file in which I have added the certificate. The file lies in my project folder. I imported it using: System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", "folder\\keystore.jks"); System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword", "SECRET"); Apparently, the web service call checks the keystore because when giving a wrong path to the file the application throws an exception when invoking the WS, not when setting the system property. Anyway, when giving the correct path to the keystore file, I still get AxisFault faultCode: {http://xml.apache.org/axis/}HTTP faultSubcode: faultString: (401)Authorization Required Someone told me I had to trust the CA, before any of this would work. How do I do this?

Why a revert a file in EGit, but the dirty symbol '<' still exist in the project view?

I try EGit revert for several days, It's very confuse that when I revert the file following the user guide, and I still got the file dirty symbol in the related file. http://wiki.eclipse.org/EGit/User_Guide#Reverting_Changes I choose 'Replace with' - 'File in Git Index', it works, the content has been revert, but the symbol stays the same, sometimes, the symbol will disappear after a while, but sometimes, it didn't disappear. I'm using eclipse on windows, I'm not sure it's about the '\r\n' character. But I use 'Compare with ' - 'File in Git Index', two files look the same. Hope someone can tell me why, I think it can be a bug? Thank you in advance.

Error occurs while using SPADE method in R

I'm currently mining sequence patterns using SPADE algorithm in R. SPADE is included in "arulesSequence" package of R. I'm running R on my CentOS 6.3 64bit. For an exercise, I've tried an example presented in http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Data_Mining_Algorithms_In_R/Sequence_Mining/SPADE When I tried to do "cspade(x, parameter = list(support = 0.4), control = list(verbose = TRUE))" R says: parameter specification: support : 0.4 maxsize : 10 maxlen : 10 algorithmic control: bfstype : FALSE verbose : TRUE summary : FALSE preprocessing ... 1 partition(s), 0 MB [0.096s] mining transactions ... 0 MB [0.066s] reading sequences ...Error in asMethod(object) : 's' is not an integer vector When I try to run SPADE on my Window 7 32bit, it runs well without any error. Does anybody know why such errors occur?

Language D compared to C++?

Anyone here with experience of the language D? I was just reading through its presentation at http://www.d-programming-language.org/ and at Wikipedia and it seems like a good (better) alternative to C++. With good/better I mean that it seem simpler yet it has all the good stuff within C/C++. But without some of the difficulties that make C++ more difficult to learn and use in a good and efficient way. So anyone with comments/experience with the language D? Performance?

wordpress not properly functioning anymore after moving it to another domain

Hi, I followed the instructions on http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress under 'Moving WordPress to a New Server' and 'If You Want Your Old Blog To Still Work' So I made a copy of everything marked is as old, then changed the domain under the WP settings, made a new copy. And now put the first copy back but when I go to the login page I can reach it, but it's without the usual markup as first. It's all skinned out. After I login, worpress uses the new domain instead of the old domain which the old copy of wordpress used!! what went wrong?? thanks.
