  Hi, I have a Netware Novell server with an eDirectory and different objects configured. I implemented an OEServer2 SP1 to emulate a DSfW to manage the eDirectory with AD. I join the domain with the Administrator login and I am logged as the Administrator domain. So far, there are no problems. When I open the MMC window on Windows Server 08 and snap in the "Active Directory Users and Computers" I can see all the OUs and objects presented in the Netware N. server. But, when I select some OUs I can have an error, and when I select other I don’t have this error. Error: “Data from XXXXX is not available from Domain Controller OES2.yyyy.local because: The server is unwilling to process the request. Try again later, or choose another DC by selecting Connect to Domain Controller on the Domain context menu.” With XXXX= OU’s name and yyyy.local= domain name and OES2 server name If somebody can upload this SP or post a link to download it...   Our team heavily discuss the issues how to handle code list in a web service definition. The design goal is to describe a provider API to query a system using various values. Some of them are catalogs resp. code lists. A catalog or code list is a set of key value pairs. There are different systems (at least 3) maintaining possibly different code lists. Each system should implement the provider API, whereas each system might have different code list for the same business entity eg. think of colors. One system know [(1,'red'),(2,'green')] and another one knows [(1,'lightgreen'),(2,'darkgreen'),(3,'red')] etc. The access to the different provider API implementations will be encapsulated by a query service, but there is already one candidate which might use at least one provider API directly. The current options to design the API discussed are: use an abstract code list in the interface definition: the web service interface defines a well known set of code list which are expected to be used for querying and returning data. Each API provider implementation has to mapped the request and response values from those abstract codelist to the system specific one. let the query component handle the code list: the encapsulating query service knows the code list set of each provider API implementation and takes care of mapping the input and output to the system specific code lists of the queried system. do not use code lists in the query definition at all: Just query code lists by a plain string and let the provider API implementation figure out the right value. This might lead to a loose of information and possibly many false positives, due to the fact that the input string could not be canonical mapped to a code list value (eg. green - lightgreen or green - darkgreen or both) What are your experiences resp. solutions to such a problem? Could you give any recommendation?

  So the machine is behind a DSL router on a private IP so that it can not receive inbound requests. I want to know: Is there anyway to setup the router NAT (i highly doubt it supports one to one port mapping) without disturbing other users on the same router. I have another machine on internet which has public IP on it without any firewall. Can i use this machine as a relay server so that to initiate the connection, the XP machine send an outbound request and this relay server makes my connection through and then i can access my machine on pvt ip without any problem. Please tell??

• Approach to retrieve files from server

  I'm in the process of making a Java application with a corresponding update application. At any given time the user may want to update the application and the updater will ask for a list of files of the latest release. Based on this list, the updater can determine which files need to be downloaded to complete the update. I now have 2 approaches to solve this, but i would like to know what approach will put the least stress on my application and server. I could send a list of files i want to download to my server and the server zips the files and simply returns this compressed file to the application. The updater sents a request for each seperate file to the server, which simply returns the file The application will be used mainly in Belgium and The Netherlands and connections/bandwidth tend to be pretty decent in here. The average size of a single file should be around 100Kb and at most 1Mb. I expect an update to have anywhere between 10 to 50 new files. I expect at most 100 persons/day to update the application, i.e. in the week when a new version is released. I hope this is enough information to sketch my problem and any advice is welcome. If there is another common way to tackle this, i'd be glad to hear it.

• Can't find a wireless access point's IP address after changing router IP/LAN settings

  I have a modem/router, Netgear DG834, and a wireless access point (AP), Netgear WG602. The AP is directly connected to the router. My old working configuration was: Router IP address : 192.168.0.1 Access point IP address: 192.168.0.10 My new configuration is: Router IP address : 192.168.1.1 Access point IP address: ???.???.???.??? I changed my router's IP address/LAN settings to set up a VPN with another Netgear router that had the same LAN configuration. The wireless network is still up and perfectly working, but I can't find the AP's IP address. I've tried broadcast ping but the AP won't respond. I looked at the router "attached devices", but it's not there. I've played around with Nmap and arp request but the AP is totally invisible. I can fix it by resetting it to factory settings, but I'm very interested in learning more about this problem. I'm also interested in network security and this fact of having an invisible AP well, it's something I'd like to understand.

• Chrome Crash Investigation

  Chrome is crashing very very frequently(every 2-3 min). It becomes irresponsive. How can I start investigate why this is crashing so much? It feels to me that certain components of some web pages are triggering the crash. I also checked "C:\Users\irfan\AppData\Local\Google\CrashReports", but this folder is empty. Some sort of process tacking tool, and keep an eye out for which request is being made just before the crash, or something like that. Any software suggestion? Im using Windows 7. Please don't suggest, reinstall chrome. I want to know why this is happening.

  I'm setting up a link tracking system, which (temporarily) involves adding /link/id/ in front of URL (like http://server/data/id/publication/id/). rewrite data/id/(.*) http://server/$1; The request is logged as: ip - - [17/Nov/2011:10:07:19 +0300] "GET /data/id/publication/id.html HTTP/1.1" 302 154 "-" "UA"` For some reason (keeping the compatibility with AWStats) it is wanted to have 200 logged instead of 302. (nginx allows to get 301 code out of box with permanent option, but thats inappropriate too) What are my options here? Will the combination of location { } and rewrite do the job?

  I am rebuilding my work computer from scratch and need to add my domain user as a local admin on my computer. I have successfully added my PC to the domain, but I cannot add my domain user account to the local admins. I have tried to do the following: Connect to the work domain using a Windows VPN Add my computer to the work domain Start right click on Computer Manage - go to Users and Groups right click on Administrators group and add my domain user The problem is that after adding my domain user to the Administrators group, I don't see my domain user under the Local Users group. When I try to log on as my domain user I get the following error message: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request Any ideas?

• Kill ssh background process after disconnect / timeout?

  I frequently use ssh tunnels to access VNC sessions on remote machines, but this is on my laptop so the connections break when I put it to sleep for the night. If I then try to re-open the connection in the morning, I have to manually kill the ssh session, otherwise I get this error: bind: Address already in use channel_setup_fwd_listener: cannot listen to port: 1202 Could not request local forwarding. The SSH command I'm using is this: ssh -N -C -f -L 1202:localhost:5900 name@server What's the best way to have the ssh tunnel die when it disconnects? Or reset?

• Tracking down memory issues affecting a website

  I've got a website (Wordpress based) that became unresponsive. I SSH'd into the server and saw that we were out of memory. Errors in my apache log files indicated the same... things failing to be allocated due to lack of memory). Restarting the server fixes it. So I look in access.log and error.log around the time of the incident but I see nothing strange. No extra traffic, no unusual requests. In fact the only request around the time of the problem was one from Googlebot for an rss feed... at that point I start to see 500 response codes in the logs until the machine was rebooted. I look in message.log hoping to see something but there is nothing at all for that entire day (which is odd as there are entries for every other day). The site has a large amount of memory allocated to it and normally runs using about 30% of what is available. My question... how would you go about trying to track this down at this point? What are some other log files I could check or strategies I could take?

• Throttling apache downloads selectively

  I have a linux box running Debian Sarge (old I know) and apache 2.0.54. It serves two kinds of files - regular web pages and small images, and a lot of large podcast mp3s. The podcast downloads swamp the connection and make the rest of the site unresponsive, so I'm looking to throttle the data transfer rate (not the request rate) of just the podcasts. I've set up haproxy using this technique which does what it says it will, but solves a different problem - even only 5 simultaneous podcast downloads is enough to saturate the link. In a perfect world, haproxy would support per-connection throttling, but it doesn't. So far I've looked at mod_bw (won't compile for me, seems unsupported), mod_cband (unsupported, widely reported as problematic) and iptables using tc. The iptables approach would allow me to throttle things, but would not be at all selective, slowing down everything on the server, not just the podcasts, so would just move the bottleneck without changing overall behaviour. Ideas?

  I am trying to download a file via a basic socket connection, using a HTTP GET request. So, I have to specify how many bytes of data coming in I have to read from the socket. However, I am having trouble deciding the amount of data (say, in bytes) the server would reply back with. I know that there is a "Content-Length" field in the reply sent by server, but that gives me the size of the actual data (without the http headers). Is there a way to get the exact size of HTTP headers sent by the server or an estimation is required? (I am doing this for downloading on a mobile network, where every bit of data matters in terms of time and money, so I don't wish to make an unnecessary larger estimate of the header size.)

  I have a server running Apache with mod_proxy, a module to use my localhost as a proxy server. When somebody on the same LAN visits my server (my localhost through my lan ip), he/she can see only the .html page loaded into my server. Due to DNS Spoofing restrictions on the client, if he/she clicks on a link that refers to something not on my server, Apache says correctly "Object not found", because the client cannot request the page from the Internet (remember, the DNS is spoofed to my localhost). The question is: how to configure Apache to grab the page in place of the client?

• Laptop screen turns off on removing power cord

  After a recent upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro from W8, my laptop's screen turns off as soon as you remove the power cord. It turns back on with no issues when you plug the power back in. Keyboard and mouse input is processed while the screen is off. My settings tell the screen to go off after 2 minutes of inactivity on battery. I was having a battery issue from before where my laptop would should down after 5 minutes of running on battery (despite showing 60% left), but I think that's unrelated. Any other info will be provided on request. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on? How can I stop this behaviour?

  Using apache benchmark, I ran the exact same php application at my root domain and a subdomain. Even with multiple tests and high request numbers, the requests per second perform extremely differently. I mean something like this: example.com - 1200 requests per second bench.example.com - 50 requests per second What could be affecting this? These aren't using databases or anything, just mainly getting a simple page displaying. But it's the same app for both of them, and I'm wondering why they perform so differently. Ideas?

  Looking for a little help here. I have a Windows 2003 DNS Server set up on our network. Lately computers on our LAN have been, at times, unable to resolve a certain sub domain for our website whereas other times the request is resolved just fine. During these periods of "downtime" all other network activity (i.e web sites, internal resolutions, network shares, etc.) remains normal. I can tell it is a problem with our DNS server because the resolution always works from outside our network. I'm hoping someone out there has experienced something similar or could at least offer me place to start troubleshooting. Thanks!

  I need help as I am confused a lot with .htaccess Some months back, I removed WWW from the URL of my domain name using following .htaccess lines: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^example.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://example.com/$1 [L,R=301] Now, I also want to remove the trailing slash from the URL, as because I am using WordPress and a page/post will open, no matter if there's a trailing slash or NOT! I request you to please provide me the .htaccess code, so that I can REMOVE the trailing slash. Kindly remember, I don't want WWW also and I have already set .htaccess rule for the removal of WWW Note: 3 Years back when I started the blog, I set the Permalinks Structure without trailing slash. • SQUID Transparent SSL proxy (no intercept)

  I know how to have squid work as a transparent proxy. You put it into transparent mode then use your router or IPTABLES to forward port 80 to the squid port. I would like to do the same for SSL. Every guide I see mentions setting up keys on the squid server. I do not want squid to actually decrypt the SSL traffic then establish a connection with the server, rather I would like squid to simply forward the SSL traffic as is. The only thing I would like to do is be able to check the SSL request for any offending IPs and drop the packets if the destination is one of them.
