jquery background image rotating script doesn't work

Can you use PHP libcurl to pull files from server A to server B?

Hi, cURL and libcurl let you do things you normally do with a browser, right? Like, as if you have a jini sit inside a server and fire up a browser and do stuff. Ok then. I need a script to sit on server B, and click on download links on a server A and download files (from server A to server B). I am new to curl, and not sure if all I need is to issue a simple get or something else. I know that Content-disposition header forces the browser to save the document. Does it have the same effect on libcurl too? If it does, I'll make my serving script on server A send that header, and then serve the file. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Documentation of a software project

I am working with a team that works on a very large software project, we have tons of Documentation that is written in MS WORD format with nohyperlinked indexes, no search ability. Everyday we waste our time trying to find the exact document or reference. I was thinking if there was way or even a professional tool that would convert all this into a wiki format and maybe with a little manual (painful) help be organised into something that improves the accessibility. I use Google Desktop Search to make my life a little easier but its not the best solution I just want to know if any of you faced similar problems and possible solutions to this issue.

Null file when uploading via MVC

I have the following form on an .NET MVC View: <form method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="/Video/UploadDocument"> <input type="file" id="document1" name="document1"/> <input type="submit" value="Save"/> </form> And the controller has the following signature that gets called: public ActionResult UploadDocument(HttpPostedFileBase file) { return View(); } When I break inside the UploadDocument method, the parameter 'file' is null. I've selected a valid document on my desktop and know it contains text. What am I missing to get this file upload working?

w3c validation error with utf-8

When I try to validate a certain page I get the below error: Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because on line 136 it contained one or more bytes that I cannot interpret as utf-8 (in other words, the bytes found are not valid values in the specified Character Encoding). Please check both the content of the file and the character encoding indication. The error was: utf8 "\xFF" does not map to Unicode What exactly does this mean and how can I find out what character is causing the problem? The page is generated dynamically in PHP and a bit large and I am not sure what to look for.

I've read a lot about IBugTraqProvider interface and implementing an issue tracker into the commit dialog of TortoiseSVN. IBugTraqProvider is written here. Is there a more simpler way not to do it, building the plug-in and installing it on TortoiseSVN. The Document is not that clear that a developer can create its own plugin. I'm working with SalesForce as the Issue Tracker, and retrieved the WSDL file to integrate with the Working Items. Now I need to know how to connect it to ToortoiseSVN. Please any suggestions?

Google Vizualization with CSV data

Hi, I have a URL that returns data in CSV format. I would like to use Google Vizualization to create an interactive chart of the data. I've looked at several examples on Google Chart and Vizualization web page but I'm a bit confused as I'm not familiar with JavaScript or web programming in general. Question: Do I have to use JavaScript to parse the CSV string myself and manually construct the DataTable with addColumn() and addRows()? Or, is there a way to simply pass the CSV url to the charting function? I'm hoping to do something like this: var csv_data = get_data_from_url('http://...') var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(csv_data); var chart = new google.visualization.PieChart(document.getElementById('chart_div')); chart.draw(data, ...); Can someone please help me out? Image through Script, How to add variable to URL

I'm sure it's pretty straightforward since someone just solved a similar problem I had. I have a folder full of city images and need users to see the image corresponding to their city. Right now I'm getting the users location without problem using "geoip_city()" but I don't quite know how to integrate it into the URL of the image. All images have the following format: New York.jpg, Boston.jpg so I just need to make the script put the location before .jpg This is what I'm trying now: <img src="blank.png" id="image" > <script type="text/javascript"> document.getElementById('image').src = "Imagenes/grupos/' + geoip_city() + '.jpg"; </script> I believe I'm just messing with the quotes or something similar. I have a set of (X)HTML files that I need to open with window.open() from an application homepage. This is rather time-consuming and unnecessary; also, the scripts within those files may have side-effects. Is there a way to prevent JavaScript from executing on load?

How can I populate highchart jQuery plugin dynamically from MVC action?

I'm trying out the Highcharts jQuery plugin for creating charts of data in an MVC application. But I need to get the data for the function dynamically from an Action Method. How can I do that? Run JavaScript after a DropDownList is DataBound

I need to trigger a JavaScript function to be called AFTER a DropDownList on my ASP.NET WebForms page is DataBound, because the SelectedIndex of this DropDownList is the parameter to the JavaScript function. I've tried this various ways, but it seems that if I do it with pure JavaScript onload by using ClientScript.RegisterStartUpScript, the control can be found (because it hasn't been assigned a clientID yet?). If I use jQuery (document).ready { } it says that the DropDownList has no selectedIndex.value. So I need some JavaScript to run AFTER the control has a value set by the DataBind. How can I accomplish this? onChanged won't work because I need the function to fire on the first page load, with no user input. DataBinding the SelectedIndex of the DropDownList doesn't cause the JavaScript onChanged event to fire.

jquery scrollTo refuses to work

hey, ive read all the scrollTo questions and couldnt find the answer. im trying to use the scrollTo plugin for a simple horizontal scroll (the site is horizontally designed). im using the following code $(document).ready(function() { $('#contactlink').click(function(){ $.scrollTo("#conta", {duration: 8000 }); }); }); as is obvious, contactlink is the anchor link while conta is the anchor where the window should scroll to. i know im missing something very obvious, but as im a beginner with jquery, id appreciate all the help i can get. is there any way to debug the functioning of the plugin? thanks

jQuery .html works but .load causes some weird results.

Hello, I am currently working on some jQuery - it works perfectly when I uses .html but when I changed the method to .load and attempt to load a page in breaks the jquery on the rest of the page. trigger onchange event manually

Hi all, I'm setting a date-time textfield value via a calendar widget. Obviously, the calendar widget does something like this : document.getElementById('datetimetext').value = date_value; What I want is : On changing value in the date-time textfield I need to reset some other fields in the page. I've added a onchange event listener to the datetimetext field which is not getting triggered, because I guess onchange gets triggered only when the element gets focus & its value is changed on losing focus. Hence I'm looking for a way to manually trigger this onchange event (which I guess should take care of checking the value difference in the text field). Any ideas ? Thanks in advance, Anitha

Hello Note: this is an extension of a question I just asked, i have made the edits & taken the advice but still no luck I am trying to make a webpage where when you click a link, the link moves diagonally every 100 milliseconds. So I have my Javascript, but right now when I click the link nothing happens. I have run my code through JSLint (therefore changed comaprisions to === not ==, thats weird in JS?). jQuery fadeout a div that's revealed by php and not Javascript?

Seems like this might be easy, but from reading other SO answers there are a number of ways for it to possibly work: I have the "thanks" div below that shows when a php form is sucessfully submitted: <?php if(isset($emailSent) && $emailSent == true) { ?> <div class="thanks"></div> The page does not reload after the form is submitted; the php for the form is included in the page header, the php above is in <body>, and when the form is submitted, the "thanks" div appears. Question: How can the div be faded out (or simply removed) after a few seconds? Document ready doesn't seem like it would work because the page is not reloaded. Can jQuery detect the appearance of the div and then start the fadeout timer? If possible, I'd like to stay with the php form and not move to a jQuery form.

To what point is making an HTML page valid worth it?

Since a long time ago, when I found out about the W3C Validator, I made sure every HTML document I made was valid HTML. However, I think sometimes it just isn't necessary to waste time making it valid. Of course, for actual Internet pages may be important, but is making pages on an Intranet, or even little front-ends that are used with other programs, when the HTML page renders correctly in the most used browsers (not necessarily counting IE 6 and 7). I think I'm mostly talking about little improvements over code, such as wrapping every shown element of the page on <p> or <div> tags.
