A qustion about Eclipse PDE development: I write a small plugin for Eclipse and have the following * an org.eclipse.ui.texteditor.ITextEditor * a line number How can I automatically jump to that line and mark it? It's a pity that the API seems only to support offsets within the document but no line numbers. The best would be: ITextEditor editor = (ITextEditor)IDE.openEditor(PlatformUI.getWorkbench().getActiveWorkbenchWindow().getActivePage(), file, true ); editor.goto(line); editor.markLine(line); It this possible in some way? ASP.Net Cross Page Posting

Currently I have two pages: The first page contains an input form, and the 2nd page generates an excel document. The input form's button posts to this 2nd page. What I'd like to do is add a second button which also posts to the 2nd page; however, I'll need requests created from this new button to act differently, which brings me to my question: Is there a way I can tell, from the 2nd page, which button was pressed to submit the request? The main reason I'm asking is I'd like to re-use the 2nd page's logic in parsing the information from the first page if possible; I'd rather not have to copy it to a new page and have the new button post to that. Tracking Mouse Stop

I am trying to track mouse movements in the browser, and if a user stops their mouse for 0.5 seconds, to execute some code. I have put a breakpoint in the code below in firebug, and it breaks on the var mousestop = function(evt) line, but then jumps to the return statement. Am I missing something simple? Why isn't it executing the POST statement? I am tracking mouse clicks in a similar way, and it posts to the server just fine. WPF Binding XAML vs C#

Hello, I've got a strange problem - binding created through XAML (both ways by markup extension or normal) isn't working(BindingOperations.IsDataBound returns false and in fact there is no Binding object created). When I do literally the same from code everything is working perfectly. One more thing is that the Binding in XAML is created in a DataTemplate - what's funny about that when I use the DataTemplate for the first time it fails, then I fix it from code (add binding to specific objects) and while adding more objects to the collection the binding set in XAML just works. If I try to remove all the objects from the collection and then add a new one the binding fails once again. In reality this is a shortened version of another of my questions. Problem is that the loops starts as soon as the page is ready and the browser crashes. I'm stuck with this solution and I can't think of an alternative right now. Can you help me? Does XercesC contain an extensive logic of XMLSchema validation?

Tried to implement a small XML validation tool with XercesC. For some reason I cannot use existing validators right from the box - I need some preprocessing and would like to combine it with validation in a single tool. I used DOM parser and specified DOMErrorHandler. Instead of a set of errors with detailed messages like I saw from xmllint for the same xml and xmlschema files, only one message appeared that document has a wrong structure without details. Probably, I did something wrong. But also assume XercesC doesn't contain xmllint functionality right from the box. Does anybody can give me a hint before I spent too much time? Thanks.

Say that you have a XHTML document in English but it has accented characters (e.g. meta name="author" content="José"). Let's say you have no control over the HTTP headers. Should the characters be replaced for their corresponding named entities (e.g. á, etc)? Should the doc type and the xml:lang attribute be set to English? I know I can check the W3C recommendation but I am asking more from a practical point of view.

loading HTML fragments with jQuery

The problem is, these function won't be executed when clicking on anchors located in the new HTML fragment which were injected right before. So the fragment won't get injected into div, the browser will only load the fragment for itself. Hope there are solutions which aren't that tricky... thanks sam

Formatting code in research reports

I am currently writing a formal research report, and I'll be including JavaScript and PHP code. None of the sections of code will be more than 25 lines (so they're mere snippets). There will be approx. half a dozen snippets, each of which will have a couple of paragraphs explaining what is happening in the code and a discussion on its pros/cons. Is there an accepted way of displaying code in research reports? I'm thinking in terms of font, spacing, whether the code should be displayed inside the document or in an appendix, and related details. I have no contact with the body the report will be submitted to, and they have no published guidelines on how to format code.

jConfirm and onbeforeunload

When I add jConfirm after "return" it works...for a second. it pops the warning and then the page refreshes and the dialog box goes away. Does anyone know how to fix this?

VSTS 2008 Load testing, Is it any good?

I have already spent couple of weeks trying to use this tool to generate some webtest and load test. But every day it throws a weird problem for which I do not find anything in document. examples: Hidden variables (_lastfocus) not found in the context error. Today, all of sudden it is now refusing to run some of the webtest which are part of the test mix in my load test run (is working fine with another load test). Are enterprise level, expensive tools are only good? (like loadrunner, silkperformer etc).

PHP/Javascript - get php variable within javascript

I have run into an interesting problem. I am currently developing php page and need to access a php variable within the javascript onload. $(document).ready(function() { var temp = <?php $page_id ?> } is this valid? I know that this might seem weird and not be allowed but I am developing a page that has two popup windows. The windows are created using the same view template and there is no way to distinguish between each other. If I stored a hidden value on the page with information unique to the page like so <input type="hidden" value="<?php $page_id ?> id="page_id" /> if there are two views open at the same time there is no way for me to get a unique page id like so var temp = $("#page_id").val(); Because there are two views witht he same input id that is not unique. Long story short is it valid to reference a php variable in the javascript.

I made a figure within my latex document using the subfigure package, containing three subfigures. The part where the subfigures are now automatically labelled (a), (b), (c) needs to be uppercase, though. i.e. the result from the latex code in the finally rendered PDF is (a) img1 (b) img2 (c) img3 but it needs to be (A) img1 (B) img2 (C) img3 How can I set this? Set User Defined Language Programmatically

I've been trying to select the User Defined Language programmatically unsuccessfully through various means, another problem is the files I need to apply the user defined language have no file extension, old DOS files; NPPM_SETCURRENTLANGTYPE (only enumerates built-in languages) Macros don't seem to sense changes with language selection, I was hoping to record a macro then trigger it with NPPExec. Notepad++ accepts only in-built languages for starting from the command line I can't select a UDL as the default language for a new document. ...and my attempts at overriding an in-built language seem to have failed. I've copied details from userDefinedLang.xml to langs.xml don't work. The highlighting doesn't change. Thanks for any help!!

MongoDB Schema Design - Real-time Chat

I'm starting a project which I think will be particularly suited to MongoDB due to the speed and scalability it affords. The module I'm currently interested in is to do with real-time chat. If I was to do this in a traditional RDBMS I'd split it out into: Channel (A channel has many users) User (A user has one channel but many messages) Message (A message has a user) The the purpose of this use case, I'd like to assume that there will be typically 5 channels active at one time, each handling at most 5 messages per second. Specific queries that need to be fast: Fetch new messages (based on an bookmark, time stamp maybe, or an incrementing counter?) Post a message to a channel Verify that a user can post in a channel Bearing in mind that the document limit with MongoDB is 4mb, how would you go about designing the schema? What would yours look like? Are there any gotchas I should watch out for?
