• How do I load content with ujs, jquery and rails?

  I'm trying to figure out the best way to insert content into a light box using rails UJS. I have a link that looks like this: <%= link_to "login", login_path, :remote => true %> Which produces html as such: <a data-remote="true" href="/login">login</a> So this all works great, and I've created the view file: user_sessions/new.js.erb which also loads just fine, but my question what is the preferred method of inserting appending the html into the page? Like I already have the login form on the non-js page, so can't I just load that partial into the page? Any ideas would be very welcomed.

• Update Message on ASP.NET ModelPopupExtender

  Hi, I have a form in a MS AJAX ModalPopup Extender, which is in a UpdatePanel (for async loading). Everything works as expected. There is one thing that I am trying to do but not sure how to do it. On form submission, there is server side validation on top of client side validation. My question is: what is the best way to display validation error messages if any? It would be ideal if the messages could be written to the popup asynchronously so that the popup is still there. If this is not possible, I am thinking of displaying the messages using the JavaScript alert box. Any insight and suggestions are greatly appreciated. John

  Hello, I want to develop using a framework called symfony BUT, i do not have a MAC and i don't want to dual boot with Debian. I tryed virtual hosts via Virtual Box but it's too crappy. So i decided to stay on windows So when the tutorial tells me to do php lib/vendor/symfony/data/bin/check_configuration.php i do in the windows cmd : php lib\vendor\symfony\data\bin\check_configuration.php and it tells me : 'php' is not recognized as an internal or external command I use UwAmp (php 5.2.12 + mysql + apache) which is stored in E:\logiciels\UwAmp\ inside i have buch of file, but i guess that is important : E:\logiciels\UwAmp\apache\php_5.2.11 How to make the cmd PHP in the windows cmd work propely please?

• Dropdown in Access 2007 parameter query. Why not working

  Hello, I want a Access parameter query to ask an user for a value (a location in this case). When I type [Enter location] in the Criteria field it works fine: I get a dialog box (Enter Parameter Value) with a textbox and my text (Enter Location). So far, so good. This works (the result also). But now I want a dropdown/combobox (instead of a textbox ) for the user to pick a location. I made a form and type Forms![Form1]![CmbLocation] in the Criteria field. Like this: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access/HA011170771033.aspx But I still get a textbox (with the reference as textlabel). What am I doing wrong? Has anybody any advice?

  Hi, I'm trying to implement a shuttle control in wxPython but there doesn't seem to be one. I've decided to use two listbox controls. The shuttle control looks like this: I've got two listboxes — one's populated, one's not. Could someone show me how to add a selected item to the second list box when it is double clicked? It should be removed from the first. When it is double clicked in the second, it should be added to the first and removed from the second. The shuttle control implements these by default but it's a pity it isn't there. Thank you.

• Is there any ready-made calendar control for iPhone apps?

  I am building an applicaiton for the iPhone that will display upcoming and past events. I settled for a list view, but then I realized that a calendar (just like the one displayed in the "month" view in the built-in Calendar application) would be a best match (that is, this one). However, the iPhone Human Interface Guidelines just mentions the Date Picker, not the calendar, so I believe there is nothing like that out of the box. Is that true? If so, does anyone know of a third-party control that could be used? (I could write one myself, but I'd rather pick up something ready, since this is a departure on the original project plans). • Manipulating source packages from Hackage how to easy deploy to several windowsboxes?

  Recently when I have found good sources packages for ghc 6.12/6.10 on Hackage I've been forced to do some minor or major changes to the cabal files to make those packages to work under windows. Besides to fork and merge my fixes with github, what seems to be the best way/ good enough practice to take these modified builds to a couple of other windows boxes that only has a basic haskell platform installed? I should prefer if I somehow could work with the cabal-install because that is what one normally use. Should one put the modfied build dirs on a shared/networked dir and mount from the targeted windows box?   I have data related as follows: A table of Houses A table of Boxes (with an FK back into Houses) A table of Things_in_boxes (with an FK back to Boxes) A table of Owners (with an FK back into Houses) In a nutshell, a House has many Boxes, and each Box has many Things in it. In addition, each House has many Owners. If I know two Owners (say Peter and Paul), how can I list all the Things that are in the Boxes that are in the Houses owned by these guys? Also, I'd like to master this SQL stuff. Can anyone recommend a good book/resource? (I'm using MySQL). Thanks!

So im using cache to hold the selectteditem from the dropdownlist. Problem: The process is going fine. But if i try to refresh the page no items are selected in the dropdown list but the cache is not getting clear so using this cache value dynamic control are creating.

• Huh? Android Preferences page refuses to load after adding SDK 1.6

  This one is really weird. I had a perfectly working Eclipse + Android 2.2 SDK working in both Administrator account and LUA (Limited User Account) under Windows XP. Then I decided to add the Android 1.6 SDK (I could do it from an Administrator account only). It seemed to have gone well, since it still works perfectly -- but only in that Administrator account! When I try to start Eclipse under a LUA, I receive the following error message box: Which disappears within 2-3 seconds and replaced with: I then tried to check the Preferences page, but again, all I receive is error messages: and: Any idea why this is happening and how to fix this? • PHP can't connect to localhost XMPP server on port 5222

  I've set up an ejabberd install locally on my Windows box, where I also have Apache, PHP and MySQL. I've also confirmed that it works great using Digsby, and have kicked the tires a bit by creating some users, sending some messages, etc. All good. However, PHP can't open a stream using stream_socket_client to port 5222. Even at its simplest level: stream_socket_client("tcp://localhost:5222", $errno, $errstr, 30, STREAM_CLIENT_CONNECT); Returns a timeout error. However, again, connecting with an IM client to localhost on port 5222 works fine. Any ideas? I'm stuck!

• Can I move the order of XCode, Cocoa, and User Templates around in XCode 3.1?

  I followed the other questions on StackOverflow and made custom User Templates. Instead of replacing the factory default Cocoa class template, I have to pick a new user template. The order that is shown in XCode's New File dialog box is: iPhone templates first (great if you mostly do iphone development) Second the User templates Third the default Mac OS templates. I want my user stuff first, Mac OS templates second, and I want to bury iPhone templates in third and last place. The sort is obviously not alphabetical. And you can't drag/drop reorder.   When loading up a solution in VS2008 I get this message: An error was encountered while opening associated documents the last time this solution was loaded. Document load is being skipped during this solution load in order to avoid that error. It shut down immediately the first time I opened it. The next time I opened it, VS popped up a message box but did not shut down at first; however, it did shut down when I clicked a usercontrol or ASPX page. How it effects total time taken. I am working on Compact framework. Update: In the Eventhandler I had given a MsgBox. When I removed the message box it is now showing time taken as 110,121,etc i.e. less that 500 milliseconds. If I put the Msgbox back in eventhandler it shows 1200,1400,etc i.e. more that a second. More surprised now.(Event is raised after the logging part)

  Hi! I have a search input field on the header of the page and when searched the result are displayed in an iframe, which also has the search input box on the iframe. Problem is how do I go about reseting the input value in the iframe search input field? It seem to remember the old search from the header, so when you do a search again in the iframe it display the last search, instead of the new search keyword.   I am at a new company and one of our goals is to implement a document search portal for our team and our clients. I am a bit worried that if we use an external service provider like Salesforce or some other ECM in the cloud there will be a lot of integration work in the future. From a client perspective, these documents will also exist in the same bucket as our structured content (stored in the DB, not a MS Word doc). If you have implemented document searching, what languages, frameworks, and technologies have you used? Do you have any failure stories? I don't have a problem using something out of the box, but I think it is important that we have control over the documents and the API to access them. I would like to use Rails if we go fully custom.

For testing pourposes I made additional method TextBox_TextChanged in page's code behing. Both command and TextBox_TextChanged print a message box with the textbox content. Initial value of textbox is ABC. Then I press D and: 1) TextBox_TextChanged prints ABCD. 2) Command prints ABC. D is missing. Why commands is so fast???

  Programming is essentially problem solving/using a lot of logic. With solving puzzles (like the ones recruiters like MS etc ask), is this a skill that can be developed with practise or is it a skill that only someone who is gifted has (I assume the former as many people can pass these tests)? Even so, I keep thinking it is a special skill for someone gifted, not for someone with a lot of practise.   I am a little confused about the various different "mainstream" scaffolding options for MVC3. There is a NuGet package called MVCScaffolding. It first showed up in Jan 2011, but seems to be active and have recent updates, and be developed by Scott Hanselman, among others. Then in May 2011 came the MVC3 Tools Update. This seems like it incorporated the original scaffolding ideas into an "out of the box" scaffolding options. However, this has not been updated since. So - what is the relationship between these two scaffoldings (if any). Are there cases when one should be used over the other, or is it just a matter of taste? Does Visual Studio 2012 or MVC4 change the game on any of this? Thanks for any input.

  We are using dual delivery for one of our Google Apps doamins and need to be able to disable mail delivery to the Gmail account. You can manually update the settings on a per user basis through the Admin interface by unchecking the box next to "Google Apps Email" in the Email routing section. From the Google Apps API documentation for the python library it does not appear that I programmatically disable the email routing for "Google Apps Email" on a per user basis. • After MS Access Conversion 97 --> 2002 I get 'Enter Parameter Value' when exitting a form.

  Hi, So when I exit a form from my newly converted .mdb it asks to Enter Parameter Value. It goes through (ie if i enter a value, it asks for another) the values required for a query that is run on a List Box on the page. The query has not been changed during the conversion. The values it is getting for the query are from text boxes on the same form. There are a few Requeries in the form (run from VB) so I imagine that it is rerunning again on Exit (although this isnt explicit in the form properties). I'm not quite sure how to go about solving this. Your help would be great. Thanks
