• Restrict IPMI access on Dell BMC and iDRAC to an allowed IP range

  I'm trying to secure the iDRAC's and BMC's on some of my Dell servers (R210, R410, R510). I want to restrict access to IPMI commands to only a few IP addresses. I've successfully restricted access to the iDrac using the instructions from http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/smdrac3/idrac/idrac10mono/en/ug/html/racugc2d.htm#wp1181529 , but the IP restrictions do not affect IPMI. A separate management network is not practical at this time because of lack or ports and some Dell BMC's don't offer a separate port. I'm told by my networking group that our switches don't support trunking, so using the vlan tagging is not an option either. Is there a way restrict the IPMI access to a list of allowed addresses? FYI, for various reasons, I have a mix of Dell servers with BMC's, iDrac Express and iDrac enterprise management features.

• Problems compiling peazip on OSX

  I'm having some problems with compiling Peazip on OSX (10.6). I emailed the Peazip developer and he said he probably couldn't help me too much as the error seems to be OSX specific and he doesn't have access to an OSX machine any more. The compiler I'm using is Lazarus as the source is in Pascal. The actual compile process seems to go ok, but when I run the peazip.app program launcher, I get the following error: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/thegooddale/Screen-shot-2010-05-22-at-71907-PM.png Here is the app launcher that the compile made: http://forboden.com/coding/peazip.app.zip - you can use an unzip program to look at the files inside (i.e. unzip it twice). • SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services - Configuration Manager & Management Studio Problems

  When I open Reporting Services Configuration Manager on my server, an error message appears that says: Reporting Services Configuration Manager An unknown error has occurred in the WMI Provider. Error Code 800706B3 This error appears before I can even attempt to connect to an SSRS instance. In addition to this problem, I'm not able to connect to my SSRS instance via SSMS on my desktop. When I attempt to connect, I get the following error message: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. (mscorlib) Additional information: The operation could not be completed. (WinMgmt) Information about my environment: Server: Win Server 2K3 x64, SQL 2005 x64 SP3 Build 9.0.4053 Desktop: Windows 7 Enterprise x64 Steps I have already taken: I have installed the latest service pack on my server and workstation. I do not see any errors in my event logs.

• How do I run JUnit from NetBeans?

  I've been trying to understand how to start writing and running JUnit tests. When I'm reading this article: http://junit.sourceforge.net/doc/testinfected/testing.htm I get the the middle of the page and they write, "JUnit comes with a graphical interface to run tests. Type the name of your test class in the field at the top of the window. Press the Run button." I don't know how to launch this program. I don't even know which package it is in, or how you run a library class from an IDE. Being stuck, I tried this NetBeans tutorial: http://www.netbeans.org/kb/docs/java/junit-intro.html It seemed to be going OK, but then I noticed that the menu options for this tutorial for testing a Java Class Library are different from those for a regular Java application, or for a Java Web App. So the instructions in this tutorial don't apply generally. I'm using NetBeans 6.7, and I've imported JUnit 4.5 into the libraries folder. What would be the normal way to run JUnit, after having written the tests? The JUnit FAQ describes the process from the Console, and I'm willing to do that if that is what is typical, but given all that I can do inside netbeans, it seems hard to believe that there isn't an easier way. Thanks much. EDIT: If I right-click on the project and select "Test" the output is: init: deps-jar: compile: compile-test: test-report: test: BUILD SUCCESSFUL (total time: 0 seconds) This doesn't strike me as the desired output of a test, especially since this doesn't change whether the test condition is true or not. Any ideas?

• Can't Remove Logical Drive/Array from HP P400

  This is my first post here. Thank you in advance for any assistance with this matter. I'm trying to remove a logical drive (logical drive 2) and an array (array "B") from my Smart Array P400. The host is a DL580 G5 running 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.7 (Tikanga). I am unable to remove the array using either hpacucli or cpqacuxe. I believe it is because of "OS Status: LOCKED". The file system that lives on this array has been unmounted. I do not want to reboot the host. Is there some way to "release" this logical drive so I can remove the array? Note that I do not need to preserve the data on logical drive 2. I intend to physically remove the drives from the machine and replace them with larger drives. I'm using the cciss kernel module that ships with Red Hat 5.7. • Getting the CVE ID Property of an update from WSUS API via Powershell

  I am writing a script in Powershell to get the update information from each computer and correlate the information with another System which identifies updates by CVE ID. I have discovered that there is a "CVEIDs" property for an update in WSUS, which is documented in MSDN, but I have no idea how to access the property. Retrieving the CVE ID from WSUS is the key to this script, so I am hoping someone out there can help! • Call to undefined function query() - using PDO in PHP

  I have a written a script in PHP that reads from data from a MySQL database. I am new to PHP and I have been using the PDO library. I have been developing on a Windows machine using the WAMP Server 2 and all has been working well. However, when I uploaded my script to the LINUX server where it will be used I get the following error when I run my script. • Windows 7 remote desktop connection does not respond to mouse or keyboard

  Pretty much every time I connect to my work PC from home (both running Windows 7), I can see the screen refresh and signs of life (clock changes, notifications pop up), but I cannot interact with the remote machine at all. Mouse and keyboard input are both ignored. If I repeatedly reconnect, I will eventually get a connection that works. I think either a setting on my host machine, VPN client or work network is configured wrong. My home PC is running Windows 7 Professional. My work PC is running Windows 7 Enterprise. My VPN client is Cisco AnyConnect. Is this a problem anyone else has run in to? Any suggestions for settings to tweak?

Comparing "by hand" takes a lot of time. All have limitations and different prizing, but which are those and how do they compare? I'm looking for an unbiased comparison site, rather then a discussion on "which is the best". * I don't mean a hosting provider comparison site, of which there are many.   I am using scala 2.7.7, and wanted to parse CSV file and store the data in SQLite database. I ended up using OpenCSV java library to parse the CSV file, and using sqlitejdbc library. • C# File IO with Streams - Best Memory Buffer Size

  Hi, I am writing a small IO library to assist with a larger (hobby) project. A part of this library performs various functions on a file, which is read / written via the FileStream object. On each StreamReader.Read(...) pass, I fire off an event which will be used in the main app to display progress information. The processing that goes on in the loop is vaired, but is not too time consuming (it could just be a simple file copy, for example, or may involve encryption...). My main question is: What is the best memory buffer size to use? Thinking about physical disk layouts, I could pick 2k, which would cover a CD sector size and is a nice multiple of a 512 byte hard disk sector. Higher up the abstraction tree, you could go for a larger buffer which could read an entire FAT cluster at a time. I realise with today's PC's, I could go for a more memory hungry option (a couple of MiB, for example), but then I increase the time between UI updates and the user perceives a less responsive app. As an aside, I'm eventually hoping to provide a similar interface to files hosted on FTP / HTTP servers (over a local network / fastish DSL). What would be the best memory buffer size for those (again, a "best-case" tradeoff between perceived responsiveness vs. performance). Thanks in advance for any ideas, Adam

  Hello, With the help of tucuxi from the existing post Java remove HTML from String without regular expressions I have built a method that will parse out any basic HTML tags from a string. Sometimes, however, the original string contains html hexadecimal characters like é (which is an accented e). I have started to add functionality which will translate these escaped characters into real characters. You're probably asking: Why not use regular expressions? Or a third party library? Unfortunately I cannot, as I am developing on a BlackBerry platform which does not support regular expressions and I have never been able to successfully add a third party library to my project. So, I have gotten to the point where any é is replaced with "e". My question now is, how do I add an actual 'accented e' to a string?   I need to display dates in a couple different ways in an app built with jquery. In some situations, I need the typical "yyyy-mm-dd hh:mma" type of formatting, with all of it's different permutations. In other cases, I need to show dates "pretty printed" similar to how StackOverflow does them: 5 seconds ago 12 minutes ago 3 hours ago yesterday 2 days ago My application already uses JQuery UI DatePicker which includes a formatDate() function, but as far as I can tell, there is no way to use it outside of the datepicker. I want to format dates that aren't associated with a datepicker. Is it possible to do this using DatePicker? The DateJS library can parse dates like "12 minutes ago", but as far as I can tell, it cannot take a Date object and format strings like this. It can format the typical "yyyy-mm-dd" types of formats. This library seems pretty heavy as well. John Resig's Pretty Dates looks like it can provide the pretty printing ("2 hours ago"), but it doesn't do the standard formatting. Is there not a single plugin that can do all of this? Is there a way to leverage the DatePicker code so I don't have to load multiple codebases that do the same things?

• How do I remove accents from characters in a PHP string?

  I'm attempting to remove accents from characters in PHP string as the first step to making the string usable in a URL. I'm using the following code: $input = "Fóø Bår"; setlocale(LC_ALL, "en_US.utf8"); $output = iconv("utf-8", "ascii//TRANSLIT", $input); print($output); The output I would expect would be something like this: F'oo Bar However, instead of the accented characters being transliterated they are replaced with question marks: F?? B?r Everything I can find online indicates that setting the locale will fix this problem, however I'm already doing this. I've already checked the following details: The locale I am setting is supported by the server (included in the list produced by locale -a) The source and target encodings (UTF-8 and ASCII) are supported by the server's version of iconv (included in the list produced by iconv -l) The input string is UTF-8 encoded (verified using PHP's mb_check_encoding function, as suggested in the answer by mercator) The call to setlocale is successful (it returns 'en_US.utf8' rather than FALSE) The cause of the problem: The server is using the wrong implementation of iconv. It has the glibc version instead of the required libiconv version. Note that the iconv function on some systems may not work as you expect. In such case, it'd be a good idea to install the GNU libiconv library. It will most likely end up with more consistent results. – PHP manual's introduction to iconv Details about the iconv implementation that is used by PHP are included in the output of the phpinfo function. (I'm not able to re-compile PHP with the correct iconv library on the server I'm working with for this project so the answer I've accepted below is the one that was most useful for removing accents without iconv support.)

  I've an x4540 Sun storage server running NexentaStor Enterprise. It's serving NFS over 10GbE CX4 for several VMWare vSphere hosts. There are 30 virtual machines running. For the past few weeks, I've had random crashes spaced 10-14 days apart. This system used to open OpenSolaris and was stable in that arrangement. The crashes trigger the automated system recovery feature on the hardware, forcing a hard system reset. I'm going to be purchasing the necessary server licenses for Windows Server 2012 Standard and Microsoft Exchange 2013 Enterprise. I just have a few questions about the CAL's thing which seems like a complete ripoff to me. How are CAL's tracked for both Windows Server and Exchange? Is it tied to Active Directory profiles? What happens if I dont have the necessary CAL's for Windows Server? Will a client be denied access from Active Directory? Is there any enforcement for this? • Does Office365 for education have litigation hold? [closed]

  Both Google and Microsoft fail me, so I'm hoping someone out there with an O365 education deployment (A1 or A2) could help. Do the education plans have options for litigation hold? What's the per-head cost? I find plenty of people asking this question but noone definitively answering it. I know the normal enterprise offerings support litigation hold, but I can find nothing on the education offerings. I'm concerned only with staff. • g++ C++0x enum class Compiler Warnings

  I've been refactoring my horrible mess of C++ type-safe psuedo-enums to the new C++0x type-safe enums because they're way more readable. Anyway, I use them in exported classes, so I explicitly mark them to be exported: enum class __attribute__((visibility("default"))) MyEnum : unsigned int { One = 1, Two = 2 }; Compiling this with g++ yields the following warning: type attributes ignored after type is already defined This seems very strange, since, as far as I know, that warning is meant to prevent actual mistakes like: class __attribute__((visibility("default"))) MyClass { }; class __attribute__((visibility("hidden"))) MyClass; Of course, I'm clearly not doing that, since I have only marked the visibility attributes at the definition of the enum class and I'm not re-defining or declaring it anywhere else (I can duplicate this error with a single file). Ultimately, I can't make this bit of code actually cause a problem, save for the fact that, if I change a value and re-compile the consumer without re-compiling the shared library, the consumer passes the new values and the shared library has no idea what to do with them (although I wouldn't expect that to work in the first place). Am I being way too pedantic? Can this be safely ignored? I suspect so, but at the same time, having this error prevents me from compiling with Werror, which makes me uncomfortable. I would really like to see this problem go away.

• Ascii Bytes Array To Int32 or Double

  I'm re-writing alibrary with a mandate to make it totally allocation free. The goal is to have 0 collections after the app's startup phase is done. Previously, there were a lot of calls like this: Int32 foo = Int32.Parse(ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetString(bytes, start, length)); Which I believe is allocating a string. I couldn't find a C# library function that would do the same thing automatically. I looked at the BitConverter class, but it looks like that is only if your Int32 is encoded with the actual bytes that represent it. Here, I have an array of bytes representing Ascii characters that represent an Int32. Here's what I did public static Int32 AsciiBytesToInt32(byte[] bytes, int start, int length) { Int32 Temp = 0; Int32 Result = 0; Int32 j = 1; for (int i = start + length - 1; i >= start; i--) { Temp = ((Int32)bytes[i]) - 48; if (Temp < 0 || Temp > 9) { throw new Exception("Bytes In AsciiBytesToInt32 Are Not An Int32"); } Result += Temp * j; j *= 10; } return Result; } Does anyone know of a C# library function that already does this in a more optimal way? • Optimized graph drawing for the web

  Having seen some suggestions for graphs, I wonder what's the optimum for my problem. I want to render a directed graph to a servlet/picture that is displayed in the browser. There should be some kind of optimization of position. No dependency to Swing would be preferred. Algorithms are not important, since the structure of the graph is determined by business logic. It would be desired to be able add labels to edges as well. it would be optimal if i can serve this as png/svg. Which library/service would you recommend? clarifications: 1) The question is all about Graphs - like Directed Acyclic Graph - NOT - Charts. 2) flot, Google Charts - cannot plot graphs, only charts, or have i missed something? 3) no i do not need interactivity 4) graphviz would be nice, but the grappa java library is quite outdated and is built upon swing/awt. while it may be theoretically possible to render swing to images, it would not be my favorite way to to so in a server-app. 5) it would be fine to use an online service where the images are not hosted locally. edit: added links to Wikipedia to clarify graph/chart term
