  This error Thu Apr 8 20:24:15 iPod-touch appname[947] <Error>: Error: Embedded profile header length is greater than data length.\n Thu Apr 8 20:24:16 iPod-touch appname[947] <Error>: Error: Embedded profile header length is greater than data length.\n is logged when a UIImageView is loaded. The view isn't huge but it has a few other UIImageViews as subviews and it might be related to memory, but I can't find anything on this message. Any ideas?

• Can't connect to STunnel when it's running as a service

  I've got STunnel configured to proxy non SSL POP3 requests to GMail on port 111. This is working fine when STunnel is running as a desktop app, but when I run the STunnel service, I can't connect to port 111 on the machine (using Outlook Express for example). The Stunnel log file shows the port binding is succeeding, but it never sees a connection. There's something preventing the connection to that port when STunnel is running as a service?   Hi, If I terminate (or interrupt) a suspended NSTask, then it still shows up in activity monitor. It isn't running because the CPU is 0% but it's still taking up memory. Is there a work around?

• In Windows 8, can you use a different default browser for Metro/WinRT apps than for normal desktop apps?

  I'm playing with the windows 8 consumer preview, and one thing I've noticed is that by default the metro/winRT apps respect my choice of Chrome as my default browser. That's probably a good thing for the default, out of the box behavior for Windows. However, what I'm finding as I play with the preview is that, when I'm using a metro/WinRT/tiled app (and only when I'm using one of these apps) I would prefer internet links opened from within those apps use the metro version of Internet Explorer. This issue isn't so much that I like IE here as it is the experience transitioning between the metro world and the desktop world is jarring. I want to limit the transitions. Perhaps when the metro version of firefox is released I might prefer it instead. The point is that I want a different default browser setting for the WinRT stuff than I do for the legacy desktop stuff. Is this possible?

  Hello Everyone Yesterday I installed the Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 on a Windows Server 2003 which has Unicenter Software Delivery 4 installed. Prior to the installation I disabled every CA service on the server (Brightstor, SDO , RCO, TNG) and the MS SQL 2000 service. After the installation of the SP2 I enabled the services again but the Unicenter Service is not able to connect to the MS SQL 2000 Database anymore. The database itself is up and running and I can connect to it with the Enterprise Manager. A dbcc checkdb doesnt return any errors on the Unicenter database. • Is my Windows partition too far down on the disk?

  I have /boot/ on /dev/sda1 (1GB), followed by my Linux root LVM on /dev/sda2 (1.3GB). Finally, I installed Windows 7 on /dev/sda3 in the remaining 700GB of space. When I select Windows 7 in the grub menu, I get something like the following error and am thrown to grub4dos: find --set-root --ignore-floppies --ignore-cd /bootmgr Error 15: file not found Unable to locate necessary tables for adjustment. None of the options in grub4dos return anything but the above error. I heard that 1TB is the upper limit for locating Windows 7 partitions; is this true? How can I fix the above?

So I changed return type from List to Enumeration, in the method, instead of ArrayList, uses Vector and return vector.elements at the end of the method.   Hi, I was asked this question today by a colleague, and couldn't find any clue on the Internet... Can someone tell me if calling Marshall.ReleaseComObject()directly calls the garbage collector ? As I understand it, it only removes COM references, and then the G.C. cleans memory on its next pass, but I can be mistaken... Thanks in advance for your help!

• Subversion problem, repo has moved

  Hi, I've set up subversion on a CentOS fresh install. Web view works fine and gives no errors and requests password but when I try and access it through svn client (xcode) it gives the error 175011 (Repository has been moved). I've tried some of the solutions out there but no success. My subversion.conf: <Location /repos> DAV svn SVNParentPath /var/www/html/repos # Limit write permission to list of valid users. # Require SSL connection for password protection.   I'm trying to run jstack command on my java application. Application is rather big, running inside jboss AS occupying about 4gb of memory. OS is Windows Server 2003 Standard edition. Every time i get an error "Not enough storage is available to process this command". There is enough ram, 16gb, and disk space. So, any ideas?

  I've been running STS 2.3.2 on a MacBook Pro for a few days now. I'm finding the performance to be significantly slower than any other build of Eclipse I've used. For example, switching from one tab to another can take up to 4 seconds. I tried turning off much of the validation, and increasing the memory, but it's not making a difference. Are others having similar experiences?

• Unloading vertex buffers in OpenGL

  I have an Android live wallpaper that I suspect is leaking memory, probably either textures or vertex arrays. I'm calling glDeleteTextures on my texture IDs, but don't see any sort of equivalent for my vertex buffers. I'd like to be able to be sure both my textures and buffers are getting unloaded by OpenGL, am i missing something? The documents I've found seem to suggest OpenGL just works it out on its own, but that's not giving me a lot of comfort.

• Alternative to SecondCopy?

  Hello I've been using SecondCopy (7.0.0.146) on XP for a few years now to copy important files from one hard-disk to another. One thing that bothers me is that it is unable to copy some files that are open. I assume Windows provides an API that allows an application to put an exclusive lock on an open file and backup utilities like SecondCopy just can't access them until they are closed. As a result, since I have to close a bunch of files/applications for SecondCopy to complete successfully, I typically don't run SecondCopy regularly like I should... which pretty much beats the whole purpose of backing up data :-/ For those of you using a similar solution to back up your important file onto a second mass storage solution... Can you confirm that an open file can be set off-limit with an exclusive lock, and no backup solution will work with those? If you've tried SecondCopy and other solutions recently and you ended up using another solution, which one did you choose and why? Thank you for any feedback.

  I've just changed ISP and I'm pretty disappointed with the transfer rate. My previous connection has a download speed of 1.08 Mb/s as seen from this site: http://speedtest.net and the download transfer rate is about 100kb/s for sites that doesn't limit their bandwidth. Now my connection has about 2Mb/s download speed but the transfer rate is dancing from 20-50kb/s . I was expecting a speed much higher than this because of the download speed that I'm getting when I'm testing. The question is what's the difference between transfer rate and download speed, is it normal to have a high download speed but low transfer rate, should the download speed be proportional to the transfer rate?

Also, all these queries are hitting query cache, so sole MySQL performance if great. But when I am using ab -c 10 -t 10 to bench this scipt, I am getting: 100 itterations: ~100req/sec (~10'000 MySQL queries per second) 5 itteration: ~200req/sec 1 itteration: ~380req/sec 0 itteration: ~580req/sec I've tried to disable persistent connections in PHP - it made it slower a bit. So, how can I make it work faster, provided that MySQL is not limiting performance here?

  I am using UFW with a default logging policy of "low". I would like to keep this logging on for the default deny action, but disable it for a particular IP address only. So I'd like to create one particular new rule that doesn't have logging. Is there a way to achieve this? • How can I prevent PermGen space errors in Netbeans?

  Every 15-30 minutes Netbeans shows a "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space". From what I learned from Google this seems to be related to classloader leaks or memory leaks in general. Unfortunatly all suggestions I found were related to application servers and I have no idea to adapted them to Netbeans. (I'm not even sure it's the same problem) Is it a problem in my application? How can I find the source?

• Catching a python app before it exits

  I have a python app which is supposed to be very long-lived, but sometimes the process just disappears and I don't know why. Nothing gets logged when this happens, so I'm at a bit of a loss. Is there some way in code I can hook in to an exit event, or some other way to get some of my code to run just before the process quits? I'd like to log the state of memory structures to better understand what's going on.
