• zend_navigation and modules

  Hi, I am developing an application at the moment with zend and I have seperated the app into modules. The default module is the main site where unlogged in users access and have free reign to look around. When you log in, depending on the user type you either go to module A or module B, which is controlled by simple ACLs. If you have access to Module A you can not access Module B and visa versa. Both user types can see the default module. Now I want to use Zend_Navigation to manage the entire applications navigation in all modules. I am not sure how to go about this, as all the examples that I have seen work within a module or very simple application. I've tried to have my navigation.xml file look like this: <configdata> <navigation> <label>Home</label> <controller>index</controller> <action>index</action> <module>default</module> <pages> <tour> <label>tour</label> <controller>tour</controller> <action>index</action> <module>default</module> </tour> <blog> <label>blog</label> <url>http://blog.mysite.com</url> </blog> <support> <label>Support</label> <controller>support</controller> <action>index</action> <module>default</module> </support> </pages> </navigation> </configdata> This if fine for the default module, but how would I go about the other modules to this navigation page? Each module has it's own home page, and others etc. Would I be better off adding a unique navigation.xml file for each module that is loaded in the preDispatch plugin that I have written to handle my ACLs?? Or keep them in one massive navigation file? Any tips would be fantastic. Thanks, Grant

• Entity Framework 4 and SYSUTCDATETIME ()

  Hi, I use EF4 and C#. I have a Table in my DataBase (MS SQL 2008) with a default value for a column SYSUTCDATETIME (). The Idea is to automatically add Date and Time as soon as a new record is Created. I create my Conceptual Model using EF4, and I have created an ASP.PAGE with a DetailsView Control in INSERT MODE. My problems: When I create a new Record. EF is not able to insert the actual Date and Time value but it inserts instead this value 0001-01-01 00:00:00.00. I suppose the EF is not able to use SYSUTCDATETIME () defined in my DataBase Any idea how to solve it? • Php using unserialize() and serialize() changing values in a saved file

  I have a serialized array of values saved to a file and need to change the value of one of the variables. In the example I change the value of $two and then save the whole array back into the file with the new value. So that means I get back subscriber 1 and 2 since they are looking for the color red and size xl, and that's exactly my criteria. But what if I want to extend this so that I also get subscriber 3 since this subscriber didn't specifically say what color or size they want (ie. there is no entry for attribute 'color' or 'size' in the EAV table for subscriber 3). Given my current design, is there a way I can extend my query to include subscribers that have zero or more of the attributes defined, and if they do have the attribute defined, then it must match the criteria? Or is there a better way to design the table to aid in querying?

• Autocompleting \cite{} with emacs + auctex gives "cite: no such database entry"

  Hi: I am running Emacs 23.1.1 and AucTeX 11.85 in an Ubuntu 8.10 machine. After opening a tex file, the first time I try to use the autocompletion of the \cite{} command, I get "cite: info not available, use `C-c &' to get it." in the minibuffer. After doing the 'C-c &', I get "byte-code: No BibTeX entry with citation key". Subsequent calls to \cite gives me the message "cite: no such database entry" . I have a \bibliography{library} in my tex file, and the \cite{} entries that I did manually work as expected. I have the following in my .emacs (require 'reftex) (setq-default TeX-master nil) (add-hook 'LaTeX-mode-hook 'TeX-PDF-mode) ;turn on pdf-mode. AUCTeX ;will call pdflatex to ;compile instead of latex.   Hi, I worked on code .It is working successfully. But Problem i am facing is: New Columns are not visible in List ( I tried with With Setting Required = "TRUE" ). I tried with compairing Field Value of Both Visible and No-Visible Columns. Difference i found is : Visible Columns (Created Manually) doesn't contain Version value. wereas columns i am creating have it. So i tried with passing null value to "ndVersion.Value". But it is still not working and automaticaly putting some value to version. Can you help me out in this? I tried Solution given Here . But it din't Worked again. :(

• RIF PRD: Presentation syntax issues

  Over Christmas I got to play a bit with the W3C RIF PRD and came across a few issues which I thought I would record for posterity. Specifically, I was working on a grammar for the presentation syntax using a GLR grammar parser tool (I was using the current CTP of ‘M’ (MGrammer) and Intellipad – I do so hope the MS guys don’t kill off M and Intellipad now they have dropped the other parts of SQL Server Modelling). I realise that the presentation syntax is non-normative and that any issues with it do not therefore compromise the standard. However, presentation syntax is useful in its own right, and it would be great to iron out any issues in a future revision of the standard. The main issues are actually not to do with the grammar at all, but rather with the ‘running example’ in the RIF PRD recommendation. I started with the code provided in Example 9.1. There are several discrepancies when compared with the EBNF rules documented in the standard. Broadly the problems can be categorised as follows: ·      Parenthesis mismatch – the wrong number of parentheses are used in various places. For example, in GoldRule, the RHS of the rule (the ‘Then’) is nested in the LHS (‘the If’). In NewCustomerAndWidgetRule, the RHS is orphaned from the LHS. Together with additional incorrect parenthesis, this leads to orphanage of UnknownStatusRule from the entire Document. ·      Invalid use of parenthesis in ‘Forall’ constructs. Parenthesis should not be used to enclose formulae. Removal of the invalid parenthesis gave me a feeling of inconsistency when comparing formulae in Forall to formulae in If. The use of parenthesis is not actually inconsistent in these two context, but in an If construct it ‘feels’ as if you are enclosing formulae in parenthesis in a LISP-like fashion. In reality, the parenthesis is simply being used to group subordinate syntax elements. The fact that an If construct can contain only a single formula as an immediate child adds to this feeling of inconsistency. ·      Invalid representation of compact URIs (CURIEs) in the context of Frame productions. In several places the URIs are not qualified with a namespace prefix (‘ex1:’). This conflicts with the definition of CURIEs in the RIF Datatypes and Built-Ins 1.0 document. Here are the productions: CURIE          ::= PNAME_LN                  | PNAME_NS PNAME_LN       ::= PNAME_NS PN_LOCAL PNAME_NS       ::= PN_PREFIX? The more I look at CURIEs, the more my head hurts! The RIF specification allows prefixes and colons without local names, which surprised me. However, the CURIE Syntax 1.0 working group note specifically states that this form is supported…and then promptly provides a syntactic definition that seems to preclude it! However, on (much) deeper inspection, it appears that ‘ex1:’ (for example) is allowed, but would really represent a ‘fragment’ of the ‘reference’, rather than a prefix! Ouch! This is so completely ambiguous that it surely calls into question the whole CURIE specification.   In any case, RIF does not allow local names without a prefix. ·      Missing ‘External’ specifiers for built-in functions and predicates.  The EBNF specification enforces this for terms within frames, but does not appear to enforce (what I believe is) the correct use of External on built-in predicates. In any case, the running example only specifies ‘External’ once on the predicate in UnknownStatusRule. External() is required in several other places. ·      The List used on the LHS of UnknownStatusRule is comma-delimited. This is not supported by the EBNF definition. Similarly, the argument list of pred:list-contains is illegally comma-delimited. ·      Unnecessary use of conjunction around a single formula in DiscountRule. This is strictly legal in the EBNF, but redundant.   All the above issues concern the presentation syntax used in the running example. There are a few minor issues with the grammar itself. Note that Michael Kiefer stated in his paper “Rule Interchange Format: The Framework” that: “The presentation syntax of RIF … is an abstract syntax and, as such, it omits certain details that might be important for unambiguous parsing.” ·      The grammar cannot differentiate unambiguously between strategies and priorities on groups. A processor is forced to resolve this by detecting the use of IRIs and integers. This could easily be fixed in the grammar.   ·      The grammar cannot unambiguously parse the ‘->’ operator in frames. Specifically, ‘-’ characters are allowed in PN_LOCAL names and hence a parser cannot determine if ‘status->’ is (‘status’ ‘->’) or (‘status-’ ‘>’).   One way to fix this is to amend the PN_LOCAL production as follows: PN_LOCAL ::= ( PN_CHARS_U | [0-9] ) ((PN_CHARS|'.')* ((PN_CHARS)-('-')))? However, unilaterally changing the definition of this production, which is defined in the SPARQL Query Language for RDF specification, makes me uncomfortable. ·      I assume that the presentation syntax is case-sensitive. I couldn’t find this stated anywhere in the documentation, but function/predicate names do appear to be documented as being case-sensitive. ·      The EBNF does not specify whitespace handling. A couple of productions (RULE and ACTION_BLOCK) are crafted to enforce the use of whitespace. This is not necessary. It seems inconsistent with the rest of the specification and can cause parsing issues. In addition, the Const production exhibits whitespaces issues. The intention may have been to disallow the use of whitespace around ‘^^’, but any direct implementation of the EBNF will probably allow whitespace between ‘^^’ and the SYMSPACE. Of course, I am being a little nit-picking about all this. On the whole, the EBNF translated very smoothly and directly to ‘M’ (MGrammar) and proved to be fairly complete. I have encountered far worse issues when translating other EBNF specifications into usable grammars.   I can’t imagine there would be any difficulty in implementing the same grammar in Antlr, COCO/R, gppg, XText, Bison, etc. A general observation, which repeats a point made above, is that the use of parenthesis in the presentation syntax can feel inconsistent and un-intuitive.   It isn’t actually inconsistent, but I think the presentation syntax could be improved by adopting braces, rather than parenthesis, to delimit subordinate syntax elements in a similar way to so many programming languages. The familiarity of braces would communicate the structure of the syntax more clearly to people like me.  If braces were adopted, parentheses could be retained around ‘var (frame | ‘new()’) constructs in action blocks. This use of parenthesis feels very LISP-like, and I think that this is my issue. It’s as if the presentation syntax represents the deformed love-child of LISP and C. In some places (specifically, action blocks), parenthesis is used in a LISP-like fashion. In other places it is used like braces in C. I find this quite confusing. • Working with packed dates in SSIS

  One of the challenges recently thrown my way was to read an EBCDIC flat file, decode packed dates, and insert the dates into a SQL table.  For those unfamiliar with packed data, it is a way to store data at the nibble level (half a byte), and was often used by mainframe programmers to conserve storage space.  In the case of my input file, the dates were 2 bytes long and  represented the number of days that have past since 01/01/1950.  My first thought was, in the words of Scooby, Hmmmmph?  But, I love a good challenge, so I dove in. Reading in the flat file was rather simple.  The only difference between reading an EBCDIC and an ASCII file is the Code Page option in the connection manager.  In my case, I needed to use Code Page 1140 for EBCDIC (I could have also used Code Page 37).       Once the code page is set correctly, SSIS can understand what it is reading and it will convert the output to the default code page, 1252.  However, packed data is either unreadable or produces non-alphabetic characters, as we can see in the preview window.   Column 1 is actually the packed date, columns 0 and 2 are the values in the rest of the file.  We are only interested in Column 1, which is a 2 byte field representing a packed date.  We know that 2 bytes of packed data can be stored in 1 byte of character data, so we are working with 4 packed digits in 2 character bytes.  If you are confused, stay tuned….this will make sense in a minute.   Right-click on your Flat File Source shape and select “Show Advanced Editor”. Here is where the magic begins. By changing the properties of the output columns, we can access the packed digits from each byte. By default, the Output Column data type is DT_STR. Since we want to look at the bytes individually and not the entire string, change the data type to DT_BYTES. Next, and most important, set UseBinaryFormat to TRUE. This will write the HEX VALUES of the output string instead of writing the character values.  Now we are getting somewhere! • Ubuntu 12.04 OpenCL with Intel and Radeon?

  I want to setup my Ubuntu 12.04 with OpenCL(Open Computing Language) support for i7 2600k and Radeon HD5870. My Monitor is connected to the integrated Graphics of the i7. Intel OpenCL SDK is installed and working. Iteration of avaliable OpenCL devices shows 2 entries for Intel. As recommended I installed AMD APP SDK 2.6 first and then the fglrx driver. I installed fglrx from Ubuntu repositories. This works fine till here. When I run aticonfig --inital -f and restart the system I get into trouble. • How to expand and collapse all accoutns using Jquery..

• How to parse a string into a nullable int in C# (.NET 3.5)

  I'm wanting to parse a string into a nullable int in C#. ie. I want to get back either the int value of the string or null if it can't be parsed. I was kind of hoping that this would work int? val = stringVal as int?; But that won't work, so the way I'm doing it now is I've written this extension method public static int? ParseNullableInt(this string value) { if (value == null || value.Trim() == string.Empty) { return null; } else { try { return int.Parse(value); } catch { return null; } } } Is there a better way of doing this? EDIT: Thanks for the TryParse suggestions, I did know about that, but it worked out about the same. I'm more interested in knowing if there is a built-in framework method that will parse directly into a nullable int?

• Change values in first key from 0 to count(array) - 1

  Ok, I have an array like so: $myArray[32]['value'] = 'value1'; $myArray[32]['type'] = 'type1'; $myArray[33]['value'] = 'value2'; $myArray[33]['type'] = 'type2'; $myArray[35]['value'] = 'value3'; $myArray[42]['value'] = 'value4'; $myArray[42]['type'] = 'type4'; Ok, looking for a quick way to change all numbers in the first key 32, 33, 35, and 42 into 0, 1, 2, and 3 instead. But I need to preserve the 2nd key and all of the values. The array is already ordered correctly, since I ordered it using a ksort, but now I need to reset the array from 0 - count($myArray) - 1 and keep the 2nd key intact and its value as well. Can someone please help me?
