• HTTP crawler in Erlang

  I'm coding on a simple HTTP crawler but I have an issue running the code at the bottom. I'm requesting 50 URLs and get the content of 20+ back. I've generated few files with 150kB size each to test the crawler. So I think the 20+ responses are limited by the bandwidth? BUT: how to tell the Erlang snippet not to quit until the last file is not fetched? • Block element, horizontal center aligned and minimum width possible

  Hi, I'm trying to have this block element to be horizontally aligned in the middle but at the same time I would like the width to be the minimum possible for the contents inside. But I don't think it's possible or I'm not able to do it myself... a#button-link { background: url("images/button-link.png") no-repeat scroll center left; margin: 12px auto 0 auto; display: block; width: 125px; height: 32px; line-height: 32px; padding-left: 35px; font-weight: bold; } This is my current code... The idea behind this is that the text for that tag could be slightly bigger or smaller depending on the user language and how much characters the same sentence has for that specific user's language. There's no way I can control but I still would like to have this element horizontally aligned to center. Is this possible with CSS?

• NotFoundException in layout editor for Android?

  I'm trying to extend a RelativeLayout object and include an embedded SurfaceView object that uses a png file in my /res/drawable folder as its background but I keep getting an error in the XML Layout editor. • How do you ensure a <td> is exactly 200px tall?

A quick check with Chrome's Inspector reveals that the td has a height of 204px! How can I force the td to be the same height as the image? As you can see above, I've tried all sorts of things...

  In my application I needed something like a particle system so I did the following: While the application initializes I load a UIImage laserImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"laser.png"]; UIImage *laserImage is declared in the Interface of my Controller. Now every time I need a new particle this code makes one: // add new Laserimage UIImageView *newLaser = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:laserImage]; [newLaser setTag:[model.lasers count]-9]; [newLaser setBounds:CGRectMake(0, 0, 17, 1)]; [newLaser setOpaque:YES]; [self.view addSubview:newLaser]; [newLaser release]; Please notice that the images are only 17px * 1px small and model.lasers is a internal array to do all the calculating seperated from graphical output. So in my main drawing loop I set all the UIImageView's positions to the calculated positions in my model.lasers array: for (int i = 0; i < [model.lasers count]; i++) { [[self.view viewWithTag:i+10] setCenter:[[model.lasers objectAtIndex:i] pos]]; } I incremented the tags by 10 because the default is 0 and I don't want to move all the views with the default tag. So the animation looks fine with about 10 - 20 images but really gets slow when working with about 60 images. So my question is: Is there any way to optimize this without starting over in OpenGl ES? • UIViewTableCell didSelectRowAtIndexPath is calling but not pushing a view controller

  Hi guys, so im having a UIViewController view with a UITableView. So the UIViewController class name is SelectionScreen. The UITableView class name is SelectionScreenTable. Picture: http://img717.imageshack.us/i/screenshot20100609atpm0.png/ I have declared a UITableView *selectionTable in SelectionScreen class and connected it to the xib file of the SelectionScreen what the problem is , is that when i click a row in the table,it stays selected as highlighted blue, it calls the didSelectRowAtIndexPath (checked with NSLog) but not pushing a new view which is called(GraphView). This is the code which i use to call the new controller WHICH WORKS with a normal button GraphView *aSelectionScreenViewController = [[GraphView alloc] initWithNibName:@"GraphView" bundle:nil]; [self presentModalViewController:aSelectionScreenViewController animated: YES]; [aSelectionScreenViewController release]; I searched around and found that I need to set a delegate for the table in the UITableView class itself on the viewload tableview.delegate = self; or self.tableview.delegate = self; But it was not working. the controller was still not being pushed, and yes i have checked the controller is not nil as i tried it with a simple button. So i was thinking whether i should set the delegate of the UITableView at the UIViewController instead, so i tried this code selectionTable.delegate = selectionTable.self; but obviously it did not work =\, it messed up the whole UITableView and caused all the cells to be its predefined settings. So does anybody have any idea on how i can get it to work.

  Hey guys, I was wondering whether anyone has tried to use the new tag that comes with HTML5 on the iPhone. Specifically, I didn't manage to make the pause() command to work. The problem I have is that I am currently just manually setting the initial size of the bitmap at 100 X 100 when what I really want is to have the bitmap be just big enough to include all the text that was written to it. • Im Stumped, Why is UIImage\Texture2d memory not being freed

  I've been looking everywhere trying to find a solution to this problem. Nothing seems to help. I've set up this basic test to try to find the cause of why my memory wasn't being freed up: if (texture != nil) { [texture release]; texture = nil; } else { UIImage* ui = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"image" ofType:@"png"]]; texture = [[Texture2D alloc] initWithImage:ui]; } Now i would place this in the touches began and test by monitoring the memory usage using intstruments at the start (normally 11.5 - 12mb) after the first touch, with no object existing the texture is created and memory jumps to 13.5 - 14 However, after the second touch the memory does decrease, but only to around 12.5 - 13. There is a noticeable chunk of memory still occupied. I tested this on a much larger scale, loading 10 of these large textures at a time The memory jumps to over 30 mb and remains there, but on the second touch after releasing the textures it only falls to around 22mb. I tried the test another time loading the images in with [uiimage imagenamed:] but because of the caching this method performs it just means that the full 30mb remains in memory.

• Nginx for static files, Apache isn't working now...

  So anything that is a "static file" that exists will just be done with nginx. Otherwise, it should pass it off to Apache. Right now, static files are working correctly. However, if something is passed to apache and it's example.com or subdomain.example.com, apache just spits out the "Apache 2 Test Page" that you get if there's nothing there. • Struggling to create correct relationships in MS Access

So for example: the unit 'Advanced Software Engineering' maybe a core unit for the award 'Software Engineering BSc' but only an optional unit for the course 'Web Technology BSc'. I've used flags for that purpose. A student is enrolled on an award so I need to get a complete list of core and optional units (bearing in mind that a student chooses 1 out of many possible optional units). Also, these units have events, e.g, a lecture, workshop or seminar, etc. and those events have sessions or instances of events where students enrolled on that particular unit are required to attend, and those attendances are stored in a separate table to form a register. So I need a hierarchy of expanding the tables something like this I guess: Awards - Students - Units - Sessions - Attendances Any help with this would be appreciated... It's blowing my mind and I'm really close to going insane! My tutor didn't spot I'd got it wrong when I showed my original data model to him and it's due in next week! Thank you :D

• Application crashing on getting updated information from database using timer and storing it on loca

  In our multi - user application we are continuously interacting with database. We have a common class through which we are sending POST queries to database and obtaining xml files in return. We are using delegates of NSXMLParser to parse the obtained file. The problem with us is we are facing many crashes in it generally when application is idle and changed data in database is being fetched in background through timer which is invoked after every few seconds. We have also dealt with error handling through try and catch but it proves to be of no use in this case and mostly application crashes with following error : Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS) Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000020 Strange thing is that many times the fetching of updated data at background works very fine, same methods being successfully executed under similar conditions but suddenly it crashes on one of them.   Objective-C / Cocoa: I need to load the image from a JPG file into a two dimensional array so that I can access each pixel. I am trying (unsuccessfully) to load the image into a NSBitmapImageRep. I have tried several variations on the following two lines of code: NSString *filePath = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%@%@",@"/Users/adam/Documents/phoneimages/", [outLabel stringValue]]; //this coming from a window control NSImageRep *controlBitmap = [[NSImageRep alloc] imageRepWithContentsOfFile:filePath]; With the code shown, I get a runtime error: -[NSImageRep imageRepWithContentsOfFile:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x100147070. I have tried replacing the second line of code with: NSImage *controlImage = [[NSImage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:filePath]; NSBitmapImageRep *controlBitmap = [[NSBitmapImageRep alloc] initWithData:controlImage]; But this yields a compiler error 'incompatible type' saying that initWithData wants a NSData variable not an NSImage. I have also tried various other ways to get this done, but all are unsuccessful either due to compiler or runtime error. Can someone help me with this? I will eventually need to load some PNG files in the same way (so it would be nice to have a consistent technique for both). And if you know of an easier / simpler way to accomplish what I am trying to do (i.e., get the images into a two-dimensional array), rather than using NSBitmapImageRep, then please let me know! And by the way, I know the path is valid (confirmed with fileExistsAtPath) -- and the filename in outLabel is a file with .jpg extension. Thanks for any help!
