• Facebooker Session is not created when config.cache_classes = true

  I am using Facebooker (along with devise & devise_facebook_connectable). The problem is that user can't sign in with Facebook Connect in production environment unless I set config.cache_classes to false (which I don't want to do in production obviously). When cache_classes = true, Facebooker::Session.current is nil. Trying to set it manually creates other problems, so I assume it's not the solution. Using Rails 2.3.8 (tried on 2.3.5 too) and Facebooker 1.0.70 (tries on 1.0.69 too) and passenger 2.2.11. Any hints?

• Has anyone noticed that a WPF file dialog will pass a click through to the UI when double clicking t

  I have some buttons on my WPF UI and I also need to choose files from time to time. I kept noticing strange problems where when I double-click an item in the file dialog, a button on the main UI would also get clicked. After experimenting, it seems that if you line up an item in the file dialog with a button behind it on the main UI and double click to select the file, it will single-click the button behind it as well. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just a freak bug with the way I have my UI laid out?

  I've got an application project that depends on a couple of shared libraries that I have created myself. According to the Qt 4.6 documentation "Deploying an Application on Mac OSX": Note: If you want a 3rd party library to be included in your application bundle, then you must add an excplicit lib entry for that library to your application's .pro file. Otherwise, the macdeployqt tool will not copy the 3rd party .dylib into the bundle. I have added lib entries to my application's .pro file but the libraries that I have written do not get copied into the bundle when I execute macdeployqt. I have the following in my .pro file: LIBS += -L../Libraries -lMyLib Everything builds okay, its just when I try to run from the bundle that I run into problems i.e. "image not found" errors. Is there a bug in macdeployqt or do I have to something more to my .pro file?

  Hi, I'm trying to compute clusters on a set of points in Python, using GeoDjango. The problem: Given a set of points, output a set of clusters of those points. (i'm fine specifying # of clusters/cluster size/distance in advance to simplify) There are a few solutions on the web to do clustering, so it's a well known problem. I thought that GeoDjango would handle these types of problems out of the box, but it's not clear how - I've searched the GeoDjango documentation, Google, and a few other places, but couldn't find anything. Before I roll my own clustering solution, I thought I'd ask to see if there's a straightforward way to do this using GEOS or another package within GeoDjango.

  Hello guyz,i am new to daatbase and class diagram.I just get scenarios from internet and try to develop ERD and Class Diagram for them.But the following scenario has caused me some problems, and i am not sure about my design. "Whenever an employee fills leave application form, the leave application should be appeared for approval to his/her team leader. Team Leader has the option to change the date of requested leave and to approve or reject the leave. Employee also has the option to change date of previously unapproved leaves or to cancel any of unapproved leave. In case of team leader, he can approve his own leaves. Management should be able to create categories of leaves like (Casual, Sick, Planned work, etc) and should be able to adjust the days allocated to each type of leave". I have identified these as entities for ERD 1) Employee(I think i dont need to make entity for Technical lead,since he is an employee) 2) LeaveHistory 3) LeaveCategory Plz correct me if the system need more classes or entities

• How to inject dependencies into a custom UserNamePasswordValidator in WCF?

  I'm using a UserNamePasswordValidator in WCF along with Unity for my dependency injection, but since WCF creates the instance of the UserNamePasswordValidator, I cannot inject my container into the class. So how would one go about this? The simplest solution I can think of is to create a static proxy/wrapper class around a static instance of a UnityContainer, which exposes all the same methods... This way, any class can access the container, and I don't need to inject it everywhere. So I could just do UnityContainerWrapper.Resolve() anywhere in code. So basically this solution solves 2 problems for me, I can use it in classes that I'm not creating an instance of, and I can use it anywhere without having to inject the container into a bunch of classes. The only downside I can think of is that I'm now potentially exposing my container to a bunch of classes that wouldn't of had access to the container before. Not really sure if this is even a problem though?

  I'm trying to comprehend the Unix file system on my OSX. I'm following wikipedia Filesystem Hierarchy Standard. I understand when I install ruby gems I must use the command sudo gem install but if I omit sudo, problems may occur. Where are gems installed within the file system when I omit sudo? How can I delete these gems? A Fun side question: When I enter cd ~/.gem my terminal is directed to .gem user$, When I enter cd ~/ and list folders using the ls command I can't find a .gem folder. Where is the .gem folder? How does this fit into the Filesystem?

• How can Request Validation be disabled for HttpHandlers?

  Is it possible to disable request validation for HttpHandlers? A bit of background - I've got an ASP.NET web application using an HttpHandler to receive the payment response from WorldPay. The IIS logs show that the handler is being called correctly from WorldPay, but the code inside the handler is never called. If I create a physical ASPX page and set ValidateRequest=false in the header, and put the same code in the Page_Load method, the code is called without any problems. This solves the problem, though I'd prefer to stick with using an HttpHandler for this as it's better suited for this type of functionality, rather than having an empty ASPX page, though this is dependent on being able to disable request validation. The web application is using ASP.NET 2.0 and the server is IIS6.

• SSH Password/User problem with Cygwin sshd service

  hello I just set up SSHd through Cygwin on a Windows XP Pro box overseas using a RAT and discluded the openssh package from the install. I ran the cywin shell (from c:\cywin) and ran Now, It's under a port I know is safe and fowarded properly, but I won't share it's number. It's not a common port, but it's under 40000. Firewalls are off etc etc. I'm on the first Admin account made on the box. (It's full admin) I've run the following commands chmod +r /etc/passwd chmod +r /etc/group hmod 777 /var /*Created New Admin User Account To Be Used via SSH*/ mkpasswd -cl > /etc/passwd mkgroup --local > /etc/group I can connect locally, but not externally. I know my ports etc are fine. Any possible problems, as i really need this tunnel up :P

I want to start the timer to perform some animation after the user clicks on a button but it is not working. • How do I access a asp.net session variable from APP_CODE??

  I have seen lots of posts here and elsewhere stating that one can access session variables from app_code. I want to access an already created session. this code errors out because of a null exception. string myFile = HttpContext.Current.Session["UploadedFile"]; this creates a null session variable. System.Web.SessionState.HttpSessionState Session = HttpContext.Current.Session; It looks like I can create a new session variable but not access an already created one. Anyone have any idea what might be giving me problems?

  I recently noticed the CallByName keyword in VB6. Since this takes a object, procedure name, "call type" and arguments array, can this be used to "fake" some types of polymorphic behavior?   Custom Web sites built on SharePoint are cropping up everywhere (just visit topsharepoint.com to see). With that said, my question pertains to creating a fully customized, branded site using SharePoint as the CMS as depicted by many of the topsharepoint.com sites. I understand the concept of creating the custom master master page(s) (SharePoint 2010 even includes a minimal.master to start). The problems I have are: What site template does one use? In 2007 the recommended front-facing Web site site collection template was the Publishing Portal. Is this still the case? What navigation do you use? Do you leverage the OOB navigation? If so, how do you style it extensively? How do you keep the on-page editing capabilities within the new site template? Are there any online tutorials are walk-throughs that address all of these issues? I have been searching, but it's really sparse out there.

• Why is Read-Modify-Write necessary for registers on embedded systems?

  I was reading http://embeddedgurus.com/embedded-bridge/2010/03/different-bit-types-in-different-registers/, which said: With read/write bits, firmware sets and clears bits when needed. It typically first reads the register, modifies the desired bit, then writes the modified value back out and I have run into that consrtuct while maintaining some production code coded by old salt embedded guys here. I don't understand why this is necessary. When I want to set/clear a bit, I always just or/nand with a bitmask. To my mind, this solves any threadsafe problems, since I assume setting (either by assignment or oring with a mask) a register only takes one cycle. On the other hand, if you first read the register, then modify, then write, an interrupt happening between the read and write may result in writing an old value to the register. So why read-modify-write? Is it still necessary?

• Presenting UIModalViews in Landscap mode

  Hello, I'm trying to present some UIModalFormSheets in a my iPad application. It's working without any problems, except one thing: When I have my iPad in landscape mode my modal form sheet is moving to the center of the screen and THEN rotates into the appropiate angle. All I want is to present the modal form sheet in the right angle according to the view mode (portrait or landscape), BEFORE it is displayed, so that the user doesn't see this rotation. I have tried all the modes for modalTransitionStyle and modalPresentationStyle, but nothing seems to prevent the modal form sheet from rotating after it is displayed. This is what I'm doing: NewFavouriteSheet *newFavouriteSheet = [[NewFavouriteSheet alloc] initWithNibName:@"NewFavouriteSheet" bundle:nil]; newFavouriteSheet.modalPresentationStyle = UIModalPresentationFormSheet; [self presentModalViewController:newFavouriteSheet animated:NO]; Does anyone has a suggestion on how to show the modal view in a correct way? Actually I'm not so interested if it's valid but if there would be any problems with any web browser or email client ( the editor is used for composing a html email ). Firefox and Thunderbird seem to be fine with it.

• Eclipse Basic Web Development?

  I want to start doing web development with Eclipse. Not Java, tomcat, axis2, or anything else anymore complicated than basic XHTML / JS / CSS development, at this time. Problem 1: I realize that it can edit those files, but its trying to manage my HTML docs as part of "my workspace", and all I want it to do is manage the files as part of my local www server HTdocs directory. Problem 2: I would like to edit WYSIWYG-style, if possible. I tried installing a plug-in for that, but I wasn't able to get w4 toolkit to function properly. This would really help me to speed up development, I think. Follow-up: I've installed WTP and its dependencies (except for the tests portion, which had install problems due to dependencies that were seemingly irreconcilable).

• Grails deploy on Tomcat6

  Hello, while trying to deploy a Grails application into tomcat6 I ran into some problems: I used the grails war command to build up a war, then copied it to var/lib/tomcat6/webapps and tried to restart the container. I had to change default Tomcat policy to skip security exceptions, since I couldn't access environment variable (like grails.env), then tried again but it gives me an exception related to instantiating something, but it's not clear where should I try to fix the error, according to tomcat6 logs the problem is: SEVERE: Exception sending context initialized event to listener instance of class org.codehaus.groovy.grails.web.context.GrailsC$ org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'pluginManager' defined in ServletContext$ at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619) Caused by: org.codehaus.groovy.grails.exceptions.NewInstanceCreationException: Could not create a new instance of class [Hiberna$ ... 1 more Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.hibernate.cfg.Environment It seems like it's unable to load org.hibernate.cfg.Environment class. I checked the applicationContext.xml and it refers to grails.xml to search for plugins, in this last file I actually have HibernateGrailsPlugin. Where should I look to find if the plugin is present?

• Kohana 3 and CRON always accessing index.php (not following the URI argument)

  OK, I hope this is my last question about CRON jobs and Kohana 3. Note: others are not duplicates, just other problems. Here is my CRON job (setup in cPanel) php /home/user/public_html/index.php --uri=properties/update As per this answer. I have set it up so it emails me the output. It is running every 5 mins. Unfortunately, it always emails me the source of the home page of my site (index.php or /). I can access that URL fine in my browser, i.e. http://www.example.com/properties/update and it works and does it's job correctly. I can tell the Cron is never hitting the script because I have a file logger in place. Would this have anything to do with .htaccess? Has this happened to anyone before, and how did they fix it?   In response to another question of mine, someone suggested that I avoid long lines in the code and to use PEP-8 rules when writing Python code. One of the PEP-8 rules suggested avoiding lines which are longer than 80 characters. I changed a lot of my code to comply with this requirement without any problems. However, changing the following line in the manner shown below breaks the code. Any ideas why? Does it have to do with the fact that what follows return command has to be in a single line?   I'm not a developer by profession. Therefore, I'm not exposed to real world technical problems that face professional developers. I read/heard about web farms, integration between different systems, load balancing ... etc. Therefore, I was wondering if there are ways for the individual developer to create an environment that simulates real world situations with minimal number of machines like: web farms & caching simulating many users accessing your website (Pressure tests?) Performance load balancing anything you think I should consider. By the way, I have a server machine and 1 PC. and I don't mind investing in tools and software. PS. I'm using Microsoft technologies for development but I hope this is not a limiting factor. Thanks

  I would like to extract the information that is printed after a github status, which looks like: # On branch master # Your branch is ahead of 'origin/master' by 2 commits. Of course I can parse the output of git status but this is not recommended since this human readable output is liable to change. There are two problems: How to know the remote tracked branch? It is often origin/branch but need not be. How to get the numbers? How to know whether it is ahead/behind? By how many commits? And what about the diverged branch case?

• How to store or share live data between PHP Requests?

  Hi, I want to start a project for facebook and the application will be like real-time multiplayer chess game. The problem I'm having is I have no idea how to store the data when a player moves one piece and update the new position in player2 browser. I'm gonna use PHP, MySQL for server side and jQuery for Client Rendering. The simplest idea is to store the data in XML or MySQL and re-generate the result to player2 browser. But I know that when thousand of players are playing, it will not be an efficient way. Since I don't have time to study new language for this project, I'm gonna have to stick with PHP. I'm not going to use flash either because I want my client side light-weight and flash-free. So is there any way that will solve my problems?
