• add ANOTHER primary key to a table which is UNIQUE

  so im having problems with adding another primary key to my table. i have 3 columns: 1. Account ID (Identity) 2. EmailID 3. Data field when i made the table i had this to make the Account ID and the Email ID unique PRIMARY KEY (AccountID, EmailID) i thought that would make my emailid unique, but then after i tried inserting another row with the same emailid it went through. so i thought i missed something out. now for my question: IF, i had to use alter, How do i alter the table/PK Constraint to modify the EmailID field and make it Unique IF i decided to drop the table and made a new one, how do i make those two primary keys uniqe? • Uploadify uploadSettings with scripData does not work

  Hi everyone, I am sending a file to my Java Servlet via jQuery Uploadify, there are no problems while sending the actual file. But when I try to send some scriptData with file along, to process on Servlet it just does not send anything. Here is the JS code: $("button").click(function(){ $("#uploadify").uploadifySettings('scriptData', {'length':'0.2'}); $('#uploadify').uploadifyUpload(); }); $('#uploadify').uploadify({ 'uploader': 'assets/uploadify/uploadify.swf', 'script': 'upload', 'folder': '/uploads' }); And here is the Servlet code on the server side: out.println(res.getParameter("length")); Only output I get is null, while expecting "0.2". I just cannot get what's wrong and any kind of help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

• How do I layout an image that will be dynamically sized in interface builder?

  I am having trouble laying out scrollable view in interface builder. A screen shot of my layout is here. As you can see the layout is pretty simple. The UIImageView above the text will not have a specific height. It may be 100px high or 300px high. This is why the view is scrollable. I am experiencing two problems with this layout: 1) For some reason the image will sit behind the text instead of pushing it down. Take a look here. 2) The obvious other problem is that the upper most UIImage and UILabel are getting pushed up off of the screen. I am thinking this has to do with the UIScrollView but I haven't been able to figure out why. Thanks!

  Hi all, I'm a bit new to using emacs for webdevelopment. I am using php-mode and i am happy with it. There is only one issue i have which causes me a lot of problems because of our company's coding style. When i have a function, e.g.: $instance = new Model('foo', 'bar'); And I want to indent it like this: $instance = new Model( 'foo', 'bar' ); Emacs does the following when i insert a newline before the first argument and indents it like this: $instance = new Model( 'foo', 'bar' ); Can anyone point me in a direction on how i can configure/change this? • BackgroundWorker and WebBrowser Control

  Is it possible/recommended to use background worker threads with the web browser control? I am creating a bot that searches google for keywords, then checks for sites in the first 10 pages to see if a site is ranked. The user can provide a maximum of 20 sites to check, and can use proxies. So ideally I'd like to have 5 threads working at once. Is it possible? I might have heard somewhere that there are problems with WebBrowser control and threads.

  Hello, gcc 4.4.2 / Visual Studio C++ 2008 I have been using cmake on linux, without any problems. Now I have ported by application to run on windows. I generated the solution files using cmake -G "Visual Studio 9 2008 ../src" However, I know that cmake only creates a Makefile that is used by the compiler to build your application. I open my solution in Visual Studio, I press the F7 key to compile. I am wondering does it actually use the Makefile that was generated by cmake? Or it is just compiling the application like any normal visual studio program? Many thanks for any advice,

  Hello, Under Django 1.1.1, I am using several authentication backends such as social-registration for facebook connect and django-emailauth for email based authentication instead of user names. I am curious if the Csrf middleware is an essential security measure as it seems like it sometimes generates problems, especially with facebook connect. My project is rather simple. Each user have a profile which they can fill and a purchase page where they fill the payment for to do purchases. Either of these pages are protected via @login_required.

• Automated testing of a website for IE7 javascript errors?

  This week I decided to add a new element to a javascript array by copying a similar one from a previous line; unfortunately I forgot to remove the comma so the end result was something like var a = [1, 2, 3,]. The code went live late Friday afternoon just before everyone left for the week-end, and it completely broke everything in Internet Explorer 7 (and lower I assume) since it's such a great browser. Since there was no one to read emails (week-end) it went unnoticed for quite a while, and I really don't want something like this to happen again (especially in my code).. This is not the first of weird IE7 problems; I was wondering if there was a way to automatically test key pages looking for javascript or css errors, or really anything that IE8 would output in its new console in development tools. If there isn't, what do you usually do? You test the website after every change with all the browsers you support? (Something I'll do from now, at least for IE, if there is no way to run automated tests)

• pro*C in oracle XE

  I downloaded the free express edition of oracle, Oracle XE. I couldn't find the pro*c compiler in this edition. I read somewhere that oracle 9i client has pro*C, So I presumed that oracle client for 10g XE should have it too and downloaded it. But to my disappointment, I can't find it there too. :(. Is there a way to download the older oracle 9i and use it connect to 10g XE without any compatibility problems?. Or is it possible to download the pro*C compiler alone?. I don't want to download the standard editions as they are too large(2 GB). Thanks.

  Can anyone suggest some good materials for learning more about the Linux filesystem and command line? I have found myself frequently confused as to what programs go where on the Linux filesystem. I would like to learn how the various directories (var, etc, usr ...) are used and how to use the commandline more effectively. I come from the Windows development world (.NET developer) so I am very familiar with Windows system administration. However, when doing more and more work with PHP I found myself lost in the internals of Linux (specifically Ubuntu). For example I was having problems installing PEAR properly on my Ubuntu system and not understanding why it was installed where it was. All of my interactions with Linux machines is done via SSH so I would like to focus on the command line and the filesystem. Thanks for any suggestions.

• Mysql adapter for Zend_Translate

  Hi everybody, I'm currently in the planning phase of a rather large project that I'll develop in the Zend Framework. One of the problems I'm facing is that the customers will want to translate not only the content but also the interface. I'm currently using gettext and poedit to manage my language files but this is not an option for the customer as they, for one, want have FTP access to the site. Hence, I'm thinking of a mysql back end with an interface in the front end for the customer to manage his own translations of the interface. There is however still no mysql adapater for Zend_Translate. So, does anybody now of an adapter script for Zend_Translate so it can work with a mysql table? Or any arguments against using mysql and possible other solutions for this problem?

  Hi all, I am making my first web application with ASP.NET and I am having a rough time. I have previously created the application I am working on as a Windows Form application and it works great, but I am having problems with the HTML side of things in the web application. My issues are pretty minor, but very annoying. I have worked with websites before and CSS, but as far as I can tell I do not have direct access to a CSS when creating a web application in VS 2008. My biggest issue is the positioning of components that I have dragged onto the "Default.aspx" form. For instance, how am I supposed to float a panel next to another one if I don't have a CSS, or how am I to correctly position a label?

• Project Idea with Hadoop MapReduce

  Hello, I learnt Hadoop a few months back and managed to do a very introductory programming project on it. I want to do a small - medium sized project or series of small programming assignments with Hadoop. I have seen lot of ideas around but I dont see anything that can be finished in about 60-70 hours of work so a pretty small scale project as I want to do that in my spare time along with other studies. Most project ideas I have seen sort of large to go on for 2-3 months. My main objective out of this exercise to develop good expertise in programming with Hadoop environment not to do any research or solve specific problems. • Can someone recommend a resource/site/book to improve problem solving skills

  I am a reasonably experienced developer (.NET, c#, asp.NET etc) but I'd like to hone my problem solving skills. I find that when I come up against a complex problem I sometimes implement a solution that I feel could have been better had I analyzed the problem in a different way. Ideally what I am looking for is a resource of some type that has 'practice problems and solutions' as I think my skills will only get better by practicing this more and adopting better practices.   So I have a website where I use session start and end events to track and limit open instances of our web application, even on the same computer. On page unload i call a session enabled page method which then called session.abandon. This triggers session end event and clears the session variable but unfortunately does not kill the session cookie!! as a result if other browser instances are open there are problems because their session state just disappeared...and much worse than this when I open the site again with the zombie session still not expired, I get multiple session start and session end events on any subsequent postbacks. This happens on all browsers. so how do I truly kill the session (force the cookie to expire)

  What is the easiest way to create a delay (or parking) queue with Python, Pika and RabbitMQ? I have seen an similar questions, but none for Python. I find this an useful idea when designing applications, as it allows us to throttle messages that needs to be re-queued again. There are always the possibility that you will receive more messages than you can handle, maybe the HTTP server is slow, or the database is under too much stress. I also found it very useful when something went wrong in scenarios where there is a zero tolerance to losing messages, and while re-queuing messages that could not be handled may solve that. It can also cause problems where the message will be queued over and over again. Potentially causing performance issues, and log spam.

Sometimes, I get html of an img: <img style="cursor: -moz-zoom-in;" alt="http://<myapp>.appspot.com/servePic?blob-key=abcdef" src="http://<myapp>.appspot.com/servePic?blob-abcdef" height="1" width="1"> Sometimes I get the image data in bytes. Behavior varies on I dunno what. I get the first in development, and the second in production. Does anyone know anything about this?

  Hi I started using ccnet to build my project. This is quite new issue for me so I have some problems. First thing: Why does ccnet copy directory with my project to another directory (ccnet creates new folder named the same as project name included in ccnet.config file and copies to them directory with my project) Second thing: Dashboard page cannot show reports for recent build (When I click on any item in recent build then I get page: "The page Cannot be found" I suppose that page cannot link files with logs. but I don't know how to link it.   Long before you practice writing readable code, what "magic numbers" you still remember up to this day? here's some of my list: 72 80 75 77 13 32 27 - up down left right enter space escape 1 2 4 128 - blue green red blink 67h 33h 17h - interrupt for EMS, mouse, printer function AH 9, interrupt 21 alt+219 for block ASCII alt+164 ñ 90 NOP 13 10 carriage return, line feed ascii 1 and 2 face, ascii 3 heart. no not this heart: <3 :-) debug -o72,10 -o71,12 clears the BIOS password. I don't know what those numbers mean, it's like a trade secret that gets shared with each other during college days. ascii 7 sounds a beep P.S. Somehow, remembering some of these magic numbers can help you in some tech problems, your keyboard is broken, the office pal's keyboard doesn't have accented characters. An anecdote, during college, one of my friend asked me how to remove the newlines in his Word document. Not having used Word so much then, I somehow "intuitively" guessed to find ^013 and replace it with blank. Well it works :-)

• jQuery Validate - can I re-validate a group of fields after changing one?

  I'm using jQuery Validate and would like to re-validate a group of fields whenever one of them is changed (or possibly, whenever one of them validates successfully). My attempts so far just create infinite loops. Is this possible, or does the plugin design preclude it? (Specifically, I've got a method that requires at least X of group Y to be filled out, and as soon as that's true, I'd like all those fields to re-validate. Currently I'm clearing out their error messages with my own code, but that's a hack - it also hides unrelated validation problems until the form is re-submitted.)

• How do I include external Libraries in CodeIgniter?

  I'm new to codeigniter, and I'm trying to integrate amazon's FPS into my page. There are a bunch of libraries and models that go with Amazon FPS, which I would need included to make the appropriate calls. How do I include them in CodeIgniter? I tried placing the entire Amazon folder inside the system/libraries directory, and then tried including libraries with $this-load-library( 'Amazon/FPS/Client' ); However, I run into problems with the relative path there, because Client.php contains the statement require_once ('Amazon/FPS/Interface.php'); ... which is in the same folder. There has to be a better way to do all this - can anyone please help? Thanks!!

• MySQL: updating a row and deleting the original in case it becomes a duplicate

  I have a simple table made up of two columns: col_A and col_B. The primary key is defined over both. I need to update some rows and assign to col_A values that may generate duplicates, for example: UPDATE `table` SET `col_A` = 66 WHERE `col_B` = 70 This statement sometimes yields a duplicate key error. I don't want to simply ignore the error with UPDATE IGNORE, because then the rows that generate the error would remain unchanged. Instead, I want them to be deleted when they would conflict with another row after they have been updated I'd like to write something like: UPDATE `table` SET `col_A` = 66 WHERE `col_B` = 70 ON DUPLICATE KEY REPLACE which unfortunately isn't legal in SQL, so I need help finding another way around. Also, I'm using PHP and could consider a hybrid solution (i.e. part query part php code), but keep in mind that I have to perform this updating operation many millions of times. thanks for your attention, Silvio Reminder: UPDATE's syntax has problems with joins with the same table that is being updated

• Facebooker Session is not created when config.cache_classes = true

  I am using Facebooker (along with devise & devise_facebook_connectable). The problem is that user can't sign in with Facebook Connect in production environment unless I set config.cache_classes to false (which I don't want to do in production obviously). When cache_classes = true, Facebooker::Session.current is nil. Trying to set it manually creates other problems, so I assume it's not the solution. Using Rails 2.3.8 (tried on 2.3.5 too) and Facebooker 1.0.70 (tries on 1.0.69 too) and passenger 2.2.11. Any hints?
