Images not displayed in silverlight when app is run

I'm trying to display an image within a Silverlight application but the image does not display when the application is run. When creating the project within Visual Studio I chose the "Automatically generate a test page to host Silverlight at build time" option. Complete code as an example: <UserControl x:Class="SilverlightApplication3.Page" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Width="400" Height="300"> <StackPanel> <Image Source="http://www.beachtownpress.com/db5/00415/beachtownpress.com/_uimages/beach7.jpg" /> </StackPanel> </UserControl> The application appears perfectly within Visual Studio, but when I run the application, the image does not display. Does Hibernate's GenericGenerator cause update and saveOrUpdate to always insert instead of update?

When using GenericGenerator to generate unique identifiers, do Hibernate session methods update() and saveOrUpdate() always insert instead of update table rows, even when the given object has an existing identifier (where the identifier is also the table primary key)? C# SHA-1 vs. PHP SHA-1...Different Results?

Hey, I am trying to calculate a SHA-1 Hash from a string, but when I calculate the string using php's sha1 function I get something different than when I try it in C#. I need C# to calculate the same string as PHP (since the string from php is calculated by a 3rd party that I cannot modify). How can I get C# to generate the same hash as PHP? Thanks!!! libnet that properly calculates checksum on IPV6

I have recently started playing around with libnet and using it to generate IPV6 packets. I am very new at programming, however, I am quite happy with the library. I have one problem with it though. It seems that libnet currently does not have the ability to properly calculate checksums on IPV6 packets. Being so new to programming, I am not yet capable of fixing this problem (although I am learning, so that one day I can). I am curious, has anyone run across a version of the library that can do this properly? Thanks!

Ampersand in link description text?

I am validating my site using validator.w3.org and have an issue where there is a & in my link description text. ie this is taken from the source <a class='tag' href='/php/iphone software.php?function=developer&dev=witch%26wizards+inc.&store=143441'>witch&wizards inc.</a> Which gives me this error in the validator Line 188, Column 540: cannot generate system identifier for general entity "wizards" …6wizards+inc.&store=143441'witch&wizards inc. If I urlencode the description then the validation passes, but the user then sees the text displayed urlencoded, ie Developer witch%26wizards+inc. However I believe it's much more user friendly if this was displayed unencoded, ie Developer witch&wizards inc. Is there a way to pass validation but still have user friendly text displayed? Do you know of a .NET library for generating javascript code? I want to generate javascript code based on information in my .NET application. I would like to be able to create an AST-like datastructure (using C#) and have it turned into valid javascript. I need to be able to create functions, statements, expressions etc., so I need something more than a JSON serializer - but I guess you could think of this as a (very) generalized JSON serializer. Do such libraries exist and if so, could you recommend any? Thank you.

I just started playing with metaprogramming and I am working on different tasks just to explore the domain. One of these was to generate a unique integer and map it to type, like below: int myInt = TypeInt<AClass>::value; I want to know if this is at all possible, and in that case how. Because although I have learned much about exploring this subject I still have failed to come up with an answer. (P.S. A yes/no answer is much more gratifying than a c++ solution that doesn't use metaprogramming, as this is the domain that I am exploring)

How to do call function after client finishes download from tornado web server?

I would like to be able to run some cleanup functions if and only if the client successfully completes the download of a file I'm serving using Tornado. I installed the firefox throttle tool and had it slow the connection down to dialup speed and installed this handler to generate a bunch of rubbish random text: class CrapHandler(BaseHandler): def get(self, token): crap = ''.join(random.choice(string.ascii_uppercase + string.digits) for x in range(100000)) self.write(crap) print "done" I get the following output from tornado immediately after making the request: done I 100524 19:45:45 web:772] 200 GET /123 (192.168.45.108) 195.10ms The client then plods along downloading for about 20 seconds. I expected that it would print "done" after the client was done. Also, if I do the following I get pretty much the same result: class CrapHandler(BaseHandler): @tornado.web.asynchronous def get(self, token): crap = ''.join(random.choice(string.ascii_uppercase + string.digits) for x in range(100000)) self.write(crap) self.finish() print "done" Am I missing something fundamental here? first off, is there a such thing as a random access random number generator, where you could not only sequentially generate random numbers as we're all used to, assuming rand100() always generates a value from 0-100: for (int i=0;i<5;i++) print rand100() output: 14 75 36 22 67 but also randomly access any random value like: rand100(0) would output 14 as long as you didn't change the seed rand100(3) would always output 22 rand100(4) would always output 67 and so on... I've actually found an open-source generator algorithm that does this, but you cannot change the seed. I know that pseudorandomness is a complex field; I wouldn't know how to alter it to add that functionality. Is there a seedable random access random number generator, preferably open source? or is there a better term for this I can google for more information? if not, part 2 of my question would be, is there any reliably random open source conventional seedable pseudorandom number generator so I could port it to multiple platforms/languages while retaining a consistent sequence of values for each platform for any given seed?

Adding file of the same name into the same list and unable to update name of the SPFile

Hi all: I'm having difficulties adding file of the same name in the same list and subsequently updating/changing/modifying the name of a SPFile. Basically, this is what I'm trying to do: string fileName = "something"; // obtained from a loop -- loop omitted here. SPFile file = folder.Files.Add(fileName, otherFile.OpenBinary()); The Add method will generate a runtime exception when it finds another file of the same name in the same list/folder. So I thought of changing the file name later in the process: string newGuid = Guid.NewGuid().ToString(); SPFile file = folder.Files.Add(newGuid, otherFile.OpenBinary()); // some other processing... afterwards, rename the file file.name = fileName; file.Item.Update(); A few minute of googling indicated I need to either move the file around, or update the name field by using ["Name"] instead. I was wondering are there any other better ways to get around this problem? Thanks.

PHP urlencode() tacking on ?SID=xxx ... Why?

I am trying to output a simple link. This works great: $url = 'http://www.google.com'; echo $url; This doesn't work great: $url = 'http://www.google.com'; echo urlencode($url); The second example tacks on "?SID=xxx" to the end of the URL for some reason. How do I prevent this from happening? Note: The code to generate the URL has been changed to protect the innocent.

Generating C++ BackTraces in OS/X (10.5.7)

I've been utilizing backtrace and backtrace_symbols to generate programmatic stack traces for the purposes of logging/diagnosis. It seems to roughly work, however, I'm getting a little bit of mangling and there are no accompanying file/line numbers associated with each function invocation (as I'd expect within a gdb bt call or something). Some other tidbits: I don't see a rdynamic link option for the g++ version (4.0.1) I'm using. -g/-g3 doesn't make any difference. abi::__cxa__demangle doesn't seem to do anything

Use XSLT to arrange a list of items in a table

I have a linear list of items which I wish to arrange in a table using XSLT. I wish to specify the number of columns as a parameter. For example, if I have a list of 12 items, I can select a 2x6, 3x4, 4x3 or 6x2 table. I cannot see a general way to do this. I have seen this article: http://www.nedcomp.nl/support/origdocs/xml4/extracted/xpath_hdi_1_4llx.aspx It tells you how to generate a table with a specific number of columns, but does not allow a general case. (Ideally there would be a loop for the xsl:value-of lines). Thanks Mark

I've a file with xml data. And I want to generate a report out of it. I tried to integrate xsl with java script, but can I get a handle of individual data elements in xsl and pass it on to a java script function. Lets say <value>true</value> is in the xml and I want to pass it on to a javascript function while doing something like this in xsl. <xsl:for-each select="/valgroup"> <xsl:value-of select="value"/> </xsl:for-each> The alternative is to parse the xml in java script and get the values, I've got little idea of how to integrate it with xsl. Are there any java script libraries. I've seen my libraries that run on servers(AJAXSLT), but I need something that runs locally. I'm a new to xslt, so consider this a worthy question.

I have a webrequest that returns a html response which has form inside with hidden fields with some javascript that submits the form automatically on pageload ( if this was run in a browser). If I save this file as *.html and run this file in browser , the java script code automatically posts the form and the output is excel file. I want to be able to generate this file from a c# code which is not running in broswer. I tried mocking thr form post but its complicated and has various scenarios based on the original webrequest querystring. any pointers.... i know its not possible to probably run JS code that posts the form - from within c# code but still thought of chekcing if someone has done that.

I am using SQLite as my db during development, and I want to postpone actually creating a final database until my domains are fully mapped. Thread Proc for an instancable class?

Basically I have a class and it is instincable (not static). Basically I want the class to be able to generate its own threads and manage its own stuff. I don't want to make a global callback for each instance I make, this doesnt seem clean and proper to me. What is the proper way of doing what I want. If I try to pass the threadproc to CreateThread and it is the proc from a class instance the compiler says I cannot do this. What is the best way of achieving what I want? Thanks

XSLT workflow with variable number of source files

I have a bunch of XML files with a fixed, country-based naming schema: report_en.xml, report_de.xml, report_fr.xml, etc. Now I want to write an XSLT style sheet that reads each of these files via the document() XPath function, extracts some values and generates one XML files with a summary. My question is: How can I iterate over the source files without knowing the exact names of the files I will process? At the moment I'm planning to generate an auxiliary XML file that holds all the file names and use the auxiliary XML file in my stylesheet to iterate. The the file list will be generated with a small PHP or bash script. Are there better alternatives? I am aware of XProc, but investing much time into it is not an option for me at the moment. Maybe someone can post an XProc solution. Preferably the solution includes workflow steps where the reports are downloaded as HTML and tidied up :) I will be using Saxon as my XSLT processor, so if there are Saxon-specific extensions I can use, these would also be OK.

E.g. foobar = "foo" def func(var): print var.origname So that: func(foobar) Returns: >>foobar EDIT: All I was trying to do was make a function like: def log(soup): f = open(varname+'.html', 'w') print >>f, soup.prettify() f.close() .. and have the function generate the filename from the name of the variable passed to it. I'm looking for a way to export a Word document as a PDF. I would like to do this without the use of a "software printer" (such as CutePDF, etc.) and stick to reference assemblies if at all possible. I'm using Microsoft Office Interop Assemblies to generate a Word Document which I save to a temporary directory. So its not necessary for this solution to interact directly with Microsoft Office, unless it needs to. Any help or feedback you might have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

IE7 doesn't render part of page until the window resizes or switch between tabs

I have a problem with IE7. I have a fixed layout for keeping the header and a sidepanel fixed on a page leaving only the "main content" area switch can happily scroll it's content. This layout works perfectly fine for IE6 and IE8, but sometimes one page may start "hiding" the content that should be showing in the "main content" area. The page finishes loading just fine. For a split second IE7 will render the main content just fine and then it will immediately hide it from view.. somewhere.. It would also seem that it only experiences this problem when there is enough content to force the "main content" area to scroll. By resizing the window or switching to another open tab and back again will cause IE7 to show the page as it was intended. Note the same problem does occur with IE8 in compatibility mode, but the page is rendered correctly in IE8 mode. If need be I can attach the basic CSS styling I use, but I first want to see if this is a known issue with IE7. Does IE7 have issues with positioned layout and overflow scrolling that is sometimes likes to forgot to finish rendering the page correctly until some window redraw event forces to finish rendering? Please remember, this exact same layout is used across multiple pages in the site as it is set up in a master page. It is just (in this case) one page that is experiencing this problem. Other pages with the exact same layout do render correctly. Even if the main content is full enough to also scroll. UPDATE: A related question which doesn't have an answer at this point. LATE UPDATE: Adding example masterpage and css Please note this same layout is the same for all the pages in the application. My problem with IE7 only occurs on one such page. All other pages have happily render correctly in IE7. Just one page, using the exact same layout, has issues where it sometimes hides the content in the "work-space" div. SharePoint filtered column that only allows item to be used once

I have a WSS 3.0 site that I use for change management. There are three primary lists on it -- a bug list, an enhancement list, and a release list. The release list has two lookup columns that provide a list of bugs and enhancements that are included in that particular release. I am trying to figure out how to filter the bug and enhancement list to include only items that have not already been included in another release. All the docs and examples I have seen regarding filtered lookups deal with a query on the list itself.
