garbled items in a horizontal list with css

css & horizontal scrolling

One of my most favorite websites is that of the Oxford Hotel in Romania. I like the simplicity of the site and how it flows. I am trying to create a similar scrolling effect using jquery and I've been somewhat successful to a point. My trouble is with css... I am not a wizard in that department. Anyway,...my questions! 1. How can I first make sure that the ".box" class will be in the center of the page when the corresponding link is clicked? Right now it positions itself on the left. 2. Then, how can I tweak this code so that the user only can see the width of the screen and not the browser scroller/the rest of my ".box" divs? Refer to the oxford link if you need to see an example of what I'd like to achieve. I have some text data in database which I have retrieved in a Cursor, and I am displaying it in a ListView. What I want to do now is that when you select click a particular row in the list its text content should be displayed in full screen and the user should be able to scroll horizontally (like scrolling between iPhone home screens) to view the contents of the Cursor.

Block element, horizontal center aligned and minimum width possible

Hi, I'm trying to have this block element to be horizontally aligned in the middle but at the same time I would like the width to be the minimum possible for the contents inside. But I don't think it's possible or I'm not able to do it myself... a#button-link { background: url("images/button-link.png") no-repeat scroll center left; margin: 12px auto 0 auto; display: block; width: 125px; height: 32px; line-height: 32px; padding-left: 35px; font-weight: bold; } This is my current code... The idea behind this is that the text for that tag could be slightly bigger or smaller depending on the user language and how much characters the same sentence has for that specific user's language. There's no way I can control but I still would like to have this element horizontally aligned to center. Is this possible with CSS?

Attach a div to Dojo DataGrid horizontal scroll

I have a fixed width datagrid being built programatically, and am trying to put a header over top of it that will scroll with it. I can't do it as part of the grid as that destroys the fixed width of the cells. I would like to be able to scroll the top div as the scrollbar for the DataGrid scrolls. This seems how the header works already, so it should be possible. I just can't figure out how to link/attach it.

Java still dont recognize horizontal scroll (right click) 14.04

I am totally trackpoint fan, I use it all the time and have disablet my touchpad. Due to my study I work a lot with MATLAB, but MATLAB uses Java, and horizontal scroll does not be recognized by java as I already reat in many other threats(well it recognizes as right click :S ). There seems to be no solution for that and disable horizontal scroll in matlab is no solution for me at all. Does anybody know about a fix for that or somehow to enable horizontal scroll java. This really drives me crazy. HELP! Formatting: Group Multiline Alignment - Added

One week ago I have added two new properties for formating PHP code into NetBeans 7.1. In Alignment category there are new properties for Group Multiline Alignment - Assignment and Array Initializer. The Assignment property influence position of the char '=' in a group of lines with assignments. Let see the pictures below. On the left site - Assignment property is off and on the right site the property is on. As you can see, when the property is set on, then the assignment char '=' is placed after the longest identifier in a group. The group is defined as a number of lines that contains the same type of assignments. End of a group can be empty line, line where is only a comment, different expression, end of a block. This formatting options works for variable assignment, field initialization and constants. The second new property is for Array Initializer. Both properties are switched off by default. If you will play with it, please file any problem into our Bugzilla.

Is the size of a struct required to be an exact multiple of the alignment of that struct?

Once again, I'm questioning a longstanding belief. Until today, I believed that the alignment of the following struct would normally be 4 and the size would normally be 5... struct example { int m_Assume_32_Bits; char m_Assume_8_Bit_Bytes; }; Because of this assumption, I have data structure code that uses offsetof to determine the distance in bytes between two adjacent items in an array. Today, I spotted some old code that was using sizeof where it shouldn't, couldn't understand why I hadn't had bugs from it, coded up a unit test - and the test surprised me by passing. A bit of investigation showed that the sizeof the type I used for the test (similar to the struct above) was an exact multiple of the alignment - ie 8 bytes. It had padding after the final member. Here is an example of why I never expected this... struct example2 { example m_Example; char m_Why_Cant_This_Be_At_Offset_6_Bytes; }; A bit of Googling showed examples that make it clear that this padding after the final member is allowed - for example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_structure_alignment#Data_structure_padding (the "or at the end of the structure" bit). This is a bit embarrassing, as I recently posted this comment - Use of struct padding (my first comment to that answer). What I can't seem to determine is whether this padding to an exact multiple of the alignment is guaranteed by the C++ standard, or whether it is just something that is permitted and that some (but maybe not all) compilers do. So - is the size of a struct required to be an exact multiple of the alignment of that struct according to the C++ standard? If the C standard makes different guarantees, I'm interested in that too, but the focus is on C++.

remove/ignore float from outer div

This may sound weird but i have some css which aligns mys divs. In one place i also use http://www.brunildo.org/test/img_center.html which centers images. Now i want my divs inside a larger div to go to another line if this one gets full. float: left seems to be the answer. The problem is it ruins my formatting. Including solution in the above link. I have this test code. If i remove the width and float it looks fine except it may take up too much space and not go to another line. I was thinking i could use float on an outerdiv and center the image within. However float: left is still breaking it. Serialize a C# class to binary be used by C++. How to handle alignment?

I am currently serializing a C# class into a binary stream using BinaryWriter. I take each element of the class and write it out using BinaryWriter. This worked fine as the C++ application reading this binary file supported packed structs and hence the binary file could be loaded directly. Now I have got a request to handle alignment as a new application has popped up which cannot support packed structs. What's the best way to convert the C# class and exporting it out as a binary keeping both 2 byte as well as 4 byte alignment in mind? The user can choose the alignment.

complex css image centering help?

My problem is a bit more complex than the title says. Sorry, I don't know how to be more specific... I'm working on a website and I came across a part where I should display some thumbnails. The thing is, the thumbnails are not matching in dimensions. (I know, it sounds ridiculous, since this is thumbnails are for, right?) No, there is simply NO WAY to create them in the same dimensions!! I've managed to create a HTML+CSS structure to fix this problem, and the images are not stretching to fit their containers if they are smaller while keeping their aspect ratio. The only issue remaining, is to center the images. Since setting margin to "0 auto" or "auto 0" are not helping, I've tried setting up multiple containers and setting the margins to position the images. This is also not working: if I put a 120x120 picture in a 120x80 inner container, and I set the container's top and left margin to -50%, the margins become -60px both. Can this be fixed? Or is there yet another way to center images? I'm open to any suggestions! Line up swing components by edges

Is it possible to line up swing components? The components are in separate panels which both use flow layout. These two panels are in another panel which is using a grid layout. As you can see there is a subtle difference and I find it annoying. Pixel alignment algorithm

I have a set of square blocks, I want to draw them in a window. I am sure the coordinates calculation is correct. But on the screen, some squares' edge overlap with other, some are not. I remember the problem is caused by accuracy of pixels. I remember there's a specific topic related to this kind of problem in 2D image rendering. But I don't remember what exactly it is, and how to solve it. Look at this screenshot. Each block should have a fixed width margin. But in the image, the vertical white line have different width.Though, the horizontal lines looks fine.

Partition Alignment Confusion

I have a new Samsung 840 250GB SSD on the way, and I want to make sure that everything is running optimally after install. I've spent many frustrating hours on the internet trying to understand how I should align the partitions of the SSD when it arrives (and even how to partition everything; my other drive is a 1TB HDD with files already on it). I'd like to know a foolproof way of setting everything up. Now, the only place I could find the erase block size of the 840 is here: http://thessdreview.com/Forums/ssd-beginners-guide-discussion/3630.htm I simply can't understand why such information isn't made freely accessible by manufacturers! But, anyway, this would suggest the EBS is 1536kb, which seems odd to me. It is to my understanding that you should now align by MiB (usually set at 1MiB). I assume that the figure above should actually be 1536k B=1.5MiB? This seems to suggest the partition alignment will be somewhat non-standard. So my question is: How do I align my partitions given this information? Please bear in mind that I have never used linux before; I'm doing my best to get everything set up so that I can begin to learn but am finding this process incredibly opaque and time consuming. If possible, a step by step guide through GParted would be great; at the moment I'm considering an NTFS partition ~20GB for Windows (playing games), an EXT4 ~20GB for ubuntu (for doing everything else) and a shared documents+games partition for everything else in NTFS file format. I'm not going to have any swap partition and use swap files instead.

MovieClip changes Stage alignment

I am loading a MovieClip using MovieClipLoader. When the MovieClip starts playing, it changes the alignment of my stage to LT, which incorrectly repositions all the other objects on my stage. Is there anyway for me to: Prevent the MovieClip from changing the alignment of my stage? Adding an event handler to an appropriate event, so that I can reset the stage alignment when it gets changed? I have already tried resetting the stage alignment on the onLoadInit event of MovieClipLoader and the onEnterFrame event of MovieClip, but both seem to reset the alignment too soon.

Brother ink printer: vertical adjustment of alignment does not work

I have a brother mfc-5440cn and tried to adjust the vertical alignment with the result that the printing quality now is very poor. The printer prints a small schadow next to each letter :-( I tried to re-adjust the alignment, but for the 600dpi settings, there is no pattern that matches the 0-pattern (you know what I mean when you've once adjsuted a brother printer :-) Is there a way to make a factory reset?
