• Websites with horizontal accordion effect

    - by peterdp
Hi Folks, I was delighted with the responses folks offered to the question about horizontal sliding panels that I thought I would try again. In subsequent discussions with my colleagues, it became clearer that we would also like to consider horizontal accordion effects, so I am looking for some concrete, real world examples. Soo... I would once again be most grateful to the stalwart StackOverflowians who could take a moment to paste links to their favorite website(s) that use a horizontal accordion effect well. Extra kudos if you can promote your own site! Thanks so very much if you can help!

  • Vertical Image Border Changes Alignment when Screen is not maximized

    - by Randy
I have some pretty straightforward HTML code with a few tables to organize various items of text or images. All works fine except that I need to place a vertical border on both the left and right sides of the screen. I am able to do this with a 2x2 pixel image that I stretch out. When the user has their screen maximized, everything looks great. But when the user hits "Restore Down", then the borders stay in place, but the tables get shoved down so that they start below where the borders end, which is off screen. in other words, the relational alignment between the borders and the tables gets all screwed up. Does anybody know how to make this alignment stay consistent on a restore down? I'm pretty much a newbie with html and asp, so speak slowly. If there is a better method to accomplish this, I'm all ears. Thanks. Here is the relevant section of code: <%@ Master Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="MasterPage.master.cs" Inherits="MasterPage" % <asp:Image ID="LeftBorder" src="../Images/Border_Blue.jpg" runat="server" WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="1000" BORDER="0" alt="Image Missing" align="left"/> <asp:Image ID="RightBorder" src="../Images/Border_Blue.jpg" runat="server" WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="1000" BORDER="0" alt="Image Missing" align="right" />

  • Alignment in assembly

    - by jena
Hi, I'm spending some time on assembly programming (Gas, in particular) and recently I learned about the align directive. I think I've understood the very basics, but I would like to gain a deeper understanding of its nature and when to use alignment. For instance, I wondered about the assembly code of a simple C++ switch statement. I know that under certain circumstances switch statements are based on jump tables, as in the following few lines of code: .section .rodata .align 4 .align 4 .L8: .long .L2 .long .L3 .long .L4 .long .L5 ... .align 4 aligns the following data on the next 4-byte boundary which ensures that fetching these memory locations is efficient, right? I think this is done because there might be things happening before the switch statement which caused misalignment. But why are there actually two calls to .align? Are there any rules of thumb when to call .align or should it simply be done whenever a new block of data is stored in memory and something prior to this could have caused misalignment? In case of arrays, it seems that alignment is done on 32-byte boundaries as soon as the array occupies at least 32 byte. Is it more efficient to do it this way or is there another reason for the 32-byte boundary? I'd appreciate any explanation or hint on literature.

  • Auto-resize custom horizontal scrollbar/slider?

I'm working on a site that scrolls horizontally. I know very little about jQuery and prototype and I got this slider script working as the page scrollbar. When the window is resized smaller, the custom horizontal slider/scrollbar won't resize to the viewport's width. I have the page and js files here http://keanetix.co.cc/scrollpage/ Try to resize the browser and you'll notice the custom scrollbar extending to the right. The custom scrollbar wont fit on the viewport, unless you refresh the page when it's been resized. Can somebody help me with this? Thanks. This is the code in the HTML page:

  • latex tabular vertical alignment to top?

    - by shoosh
I'm trying to create a simple tabular with two cells of text and two images below them like so: \begin{tabular}[h]{ c | c} \emph{Normal} & \emph{Cone} \\ \includegraphics[width=0.39\textwidth]{images/pipe1} & \includegraphics[width=0.61\textwidth]{images/pipe2} \end{tabular} The first image is shorter than the second and I want it to be aligned at the top of the cell but for some reason it gets aligned to the bottom of the cell instead. I've tried using the array package and do this: \begin{tabular}[h]{ p{0.39\textwidth} | p{0.61\textwidth} } \emph{Normal} & \emph{Cone} \\ \includegraphics[width=0.39\textwidth]{images/pipe1} & \includegraphics[width=0.61\textwidth]{images/pipe2} \end{tabular} But this doesn't change anything. The first image is still aligned to the bottom. Why is that? Could there be something else going on which forces the alignment to stick to the bottom?

  • Websites with horizontal sliding panels

    - by peterdp
In a recent meeting, I mentioned that I've seen a few websites with horizontal sliding panels and thought the UI was elegant, uncluttered and accessible. Naturally, I was asked to provide examples of those sites, but can't seem to dig up any of them now. Actually, I've been looking on an off for the past few days. (blush) Sooo.... I thought that I would put it out to the brilliant and talented folks who frequent StackOverflow. If you know of a website -- or better yet, have a website -- that uses horizontal sliding panels to provide rich functionality while maintaining a clean UI, would you please take a few moments and paste links here? I'm sure it would be helpful to a bunch o' folks. Thanks so very much!

  • memory alignment issues with union

    - by confucius
Hi all, Is there guarantee, that memory for this object will be properly aligned if we create this object of this type in stack? union my_union { int value; char bytes[4]; }; If we create char bytes[4] in stack and then try to cast it to integer there might be alignment problem. We can avoid that problem by creating it in heap, however, is there such guarantee for union objects? Logically there should be, but I would like to confirm. Thanks.

  • Gnome Desktop Icons Alignment

    - by Gabriel L. Oliveira
Hi all. It has been a long time since I started to compare the gnome desktop to the windows desktop. But since I began to use linux, I realized that the "gnome way" to align the icons on Desktop is not that nice for me. And comparing to Windows's way, windows is better for me. (remember, for me). I'd like to know if anyone has some tip to make "gnome desktop icon alignment" more like windows do. I tried to reduce the icon's size, did something, but was not that all. So, could anyone tell another tip? I like when I put something on windows desktop, and wherever I put the file, Windows organize the file and put the icon right after the last icon (in a cascade style) (and automatically). Any tips?

  • HTML Checkbox Alignment

    - by iGuygar
Test Page URL: http://www.guygar.com/inception/ultra/indexCopy.html I am new to this and searching SO I found the following solution for alignment between text and Checkbox:
Back to the Roots
While this works in IE9, it does not work in Chrome or Firefox. Could you please help me with this? Thank you.

  • alignment and granularity of mmap

    - by OwnWaterloo
I am confused by the specification of mmap. Let pa be the return address of mmap (the same as the specification) pa = mmap(addr, len, prot, flags, fildes, off); In my opinion after the function call succeed the following range is valid [ pa, pa+len ) My question is whether the range of the following is still valid? [ round_down(pa, pagesize) , round_up(pa+len, pagesize) ) [ base, base + size ] for short That is to say: is the base always aligned on the page boundary? is the size always a multiple of pagesize (the granularity is pagesize in other words) Thanks for your help. I think it is implied in this paragraph : The off argument is constrained to be aligned and sized according to the value returned by sysconf() when passed _SC_PAGESIZE or _SC_PAGE_SIZE. When MAP_FIXED is specified, the application shall ensure that the argument addr also meets these constraints. The implementation performs mapping operations over whole pages. Thus, while the argument len need not meet a size or alignment constraint, the implementation shall include, in any mapping operation, any partial page specified by the range [pa,pa+len). But I'm not sure and I do not have much experience on POSIX. Please show me some more explicit and more definitive evidence Or show me at least one system which supports POSIX and has different behavior Thanks agian.

  • How to use my trackpad for horizontal mousewheel scrolling in a Java AWT ScrollPane

    - by blissapp
    Like many modern mice and trackpads, my laptop supports vertical and horizontal scrolling. It's an addictive feature once you get used to it. I simply want my Java apps to support horizontal scrolling via the trackpad/mousewheel, but everywhere I search it seems that this is not possible in Java. I really want someone to tell me that I'm somehow doing it wrong, this feature is already requested behaviour: http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6440198 The inability to do this simple thing is actually a deal breaker for the app I'm working on. In fact, for any app I can envision! I've invested a bit of time in the Java backend, so I'd really like to find a solution for this seemingly simple thing. Question is what could I do to implement this behaviour? Are raw OS level events even exposed to java, would I then need to write this from scratch? import java.awt.*; public class ScrollExample extends Canvas { public void paint(Graphics g) { g.setColor(Color.green); g.fillOval(0,0,400, 400); } public static void main(String[] args) { ScrollExample b = new ScrollExample(); Frame f = new Frame ("Scroll Example"); ScrollPane scroller = new ScrollPane (ScrollPane.SCROLLBARS_ALWAYS); scroller.add(b,"Center"); f.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(500,500)); f.add ("Center",scroller); f.pack(); f.show(); } }

  • html horizontal scrolling

    - by mp
Hi, i have a simple css example, and i can't understand the behavior of one of my divs, when the horizontal scroll is displayed. so...when my browser window needs to display the horizontal scroll(when the window width is less than my div "content" width(1024px)), my div "footer" (that have the same "content's" parent and 100% width), seems to get an "extra blank space" on the right side. this space grows when I reduce the width of the window. any ideas about how can i get it off, or why it happens??thanks! heres my code: css: html:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Nullam scelerisque varius tortor vitae pretium. Quisque magna ipsum, accumsan sit amet pretium sed, iaculis feugiat nibh. Donec vitae dui eros, eu ultricies nulla. Morbi aliquet, nisi in tincidunt rutrum, nisl justo sagittis nisi, nec dignissim orci elit vitae tortor.

  • disable horizontal scrolling by finger swipe

    - by codelove
This may just be a mac issue, but I have a page with an element which is twice the size of the page and is moved into view dynamically. in my css I have overflow-x:hidden set so that this element won't create an ugly bottom scollbar, the problem is on my laptop (and probably on ipads and other devices) I can just swipe with two fingers to scroll and view this content. This breaks the whole layout and looks really bad, and I am looking for a way to completely disable this horizontal scrolling action with javascript or css. Thank you

  • Horizontal Scrolling Flash Game/Large Horizontal Scene

    - by Nathan
Hello, I'm currently learning Flash (CS4, AS3) and am creating a game. I have currently 1 flv file with 4 scenes, I then move from left to right and then to scene 2 and go from left to right. This is the game where items pop up that need to be clicked on and you get points. Is there any way I can combine these onto 1 scene? Flash only allows you to have a maximum of 2880px wide. The reason for this is the transition between the scenes is RUBBISH and that my AS is not working correctly in between scenes (it loses values). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Nathan

  • Eliminate horizontal scrolling in div in favor of horizontal scrolling in browser window

    - by Casey Flynn
I have a div, set to 800px wide, that will automatically scroll horizontally if the browser window is resized to < 800px. The behavior I would like, is to have the browser window scroll instead of the div. It would seem simple but for some reason I'm getting hung up on it. Any ideas? The page in question: http://www.caseyflynn.com/game/ The div CSS: div#main_container { border: 1px solid #FFF; width:800px; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; padding:0px; background-color:#FFF; overflow:hidden; } The BODY CSS: html, body { background-color:#000; border:0px; margin:0px; padding:0px; font-family : Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size : 62.5%; overflow:auto; } I'm assuming anyone looking at this will have the ability to see the HTML and the CSS. Thanks!
