  • How to get distinct values from a column with all its corresponding values in another column

    I know the question is bit confusing. Please read below. I have a table table_categories (id INT(11), cname VARCHAR(25),survey_id INT(11)) I want to retrieve the values for the column cname without duplication, that is distinct values but with all the values in the other column. id cname survey_id -- -------- --------- 1 Trader 2 2 Beginner 2 25 Human 1 26 Human 2 From the above example I want to retrieve distinct cnames with all the values of the survey_id. I don't want to use any programming language. Is there any way by using a single query. Please give me a solution in MySQL.

It won’t make you any less bored though. Convert a Row to a Column (or backwards) The first thing you’ll need is a column or a row of information that you want to convert into the opposite. For our example, we’ve got this set of data that we created by using the Auto Fill options in Google Docs. Now in another cell, you’ll need to use the TRANSPOSE function, which you can use by simply typing in the following: =TRANSPOSE( And then selecting the cells with the mouse, or manually typing in the range of cells you want to copy. The final function in this example was: =TRANSPOSE(A1:A11) Finish it off with the final ) character to complete the function, hit the Enter key, and there we are… the column was transposed over to the right. You can use the same thing to turn columns into rows, or rows into columns—just change the range you are looking for.     Do you find yourself always scrolling and scrolling and scrolling to get to the column you want to see when looking at a table or view’s data? Don’t do that! Instead, just right-click on the column headers, select ‘Columns’, and reorder as desired. Access the Manage Columns dialog Then move up the columns you want to see first… Put them in the order you want – it won’t affect the database. Now I see the data I want to see, when I want to see it – no scrolling. This will only change how the data is displayed for you, and SQL Developer will remember this ordering until you ‘Delete Persisted Settings…’ What IS Remembered Via These ‘Persisted Settings?’ Column Widths Column Sorts Column Positions Find/Highlights This means if you manipulate one of these settings, SQL Developer will remember them the next time you open the tool and go to that table or view.   • exported variable not persisted after script execution

    I'm facing a wierd issue. I've a vm with solaris 11, and trying to write some bash scripts. if, on the shell, I type : export TEST=aaa and subsequently run: set I correctly see a new environment variable named TEST whose value is aaa. If, however I do basically the same thing in a script. when the script terminates, I do not see the variable set. To make a concrete example, if in a file test.sh I have: #!/usr/bin/bash echo 1: $TEST #variable not defined yet, expect to print only 1: echo 2: $USER TEST=sss echo 3: $TEST export TEST echo 4: $TEST it prints: 1: 2: daniele 3: sss 4: sss and after its execution, TEST is not set in the shell. Am I missing something? I tried both to do export TEST=sss and the separate variable set/export with no difference.

  • 2-column; multi-accordion pane

    Alright, I'm having some issues and I believe it's a CSS one. Here is what I'm working on currently: http://www.notedls.com/demo/ Focusing on the News accordion menu. The idea here is to have a small image (50x50 with padding) and then a huge headline next to it. When the user clicks the headline, it expands to the article. If the user wants to read comments or make a comment themselves they can then click the View Comments to expand it even further. The issue I'm having (if it isn't clear) is the spacing with the image and the text. I could simply just increase the height of the ui.accordion-acc or -left to make everything fit, but that doesn't solve the issue. If you notice when you click on the first expansion of Headline 1, it will wrap View Comments underneath the image. This is something I don't want, I've tried separating these elements into additional divs and even floating, but its just not working. Essentially, I want blank space infinitely underneath the image for however long the article+comments may take the field.

When the query results are displayed in the datagridview, these bit columns are returned as of ColumnType Textbox - so i get a Datagridview textbox column with true or false string values. I want to display Completed and Taken as Checkbox columns (either ticked for True or un-ticked for false) but ofcourse i can't do this in EditColumn dialogue because the Datagridview is unbound. how can i change this in code at runtime

Sometimes im passing null (or an empty string) in that object index and it is telling me that it cant be converted properly to a DateTime (in this case). My question is what should I default this value to, or is there some way to have the DataTable ignore empty values.

    I have a MySQL database from which a view is created. Is is possible to add an auto-incrementing id for each row in the view? I tried CREATE ALGORITHM=UNDEFINED DEFINER=`database_name`@`%` SQL SECURITY DEFINER VIEW `MyView` AS set @i = 0; select @i:=@i+1 as `id` ... but that doesn't work in a View. Sorry, my SQL is weak, any help is appreciated.

  • Multi Column Block Too Narrow in Chrome

    My Web site displays song lyrics in a multi-column format, using CSS3. Both Firefox & MSIE 10+ display the multi-column text perfectly, but Chrome does not. This sample page shows the problem: http://www.hymntime.com/tch/test/html5/html5-multicolumn-test.htm The page uses a media selector, so your Chrome window must be at least 1280 pixels wide to see the effect. In fact, if you make the Chrome window less than 1280 pixels, you'll see the lyrics block change to a single column, of the same overall width. In other words, when Chrome shifts to 1-column to 2-column mode (due to the wider browser window), the lyrics block remains the same width, causing text to be squeezed together. Has anyone else seen this behavior, or know a solution? Is this a Chrome bug, or I am I doing something wrong? I posted this question on a Chrome forum a while back, but got no reply.

  • 3 columns layout, want middle column to stretch wider when column 1 and 3 are empty

    I have a 3 column layout using table-less design. <div id="main"> <div id="left"></div> <div id="content"></div> <div id="right"></div> </div> The CSS: #left {width: 200px;float:left;display:inline;} #content {width: 600px;float:left;display:inline;padding: 0 10px;} #right {width: 160px;float:left;display:inline;} I am using a web application, and I can't change the layout. By can't change, I mean the div's with left/content/right cannot be removed. On some pages, both the left and right columns are completely empty. And I want the #content div to expand more than the 600px. is this possible, without altering the HTML? What are my options? Thanks allot!
