    I'm using core plot to create a small plot in one of my view controllers. I have been pulling my hair out trying to track down this error.   • Multiple data series in real time plot

    Hi, I'm kind of new to Python and trying to create a plotting app for values read via RS232 from a sensor. I've managed (after some reading and copying examples online) to get a plot working that updates on a timer which is great. My only trouble is that I can't manage to get multiple data series into the same plot. Does anyone have a solution to this?     I'd like to print a plot with y-error-bars and just plain points. My current Octave script looks like this: errorbar(x_list, y_list, Delta_y_list, "~.x"); title("physikalisches Pendel"); xlabel("a^2 [m^2]"); ylabel("aT^2 [ms^2]"); print -dpdf plot.pdf The plot I get has a line, although I specified the .x style option: How can I get rid of that line? And the ylabel is in the scale as well, is there some way to fix that?

    Hello, Right now I have implemented Dynamic Time Warping algorithm for warping two 3D trajectories. Currently, gnuplot is my plotting tool of choice and it works fine when I plot multiple trajectories at a time. However, when I implement DTW one of the real use for plotting tool is to visualize the point warping, like this picture. Currently, the output of my DTW program is two time series in CSV files and another CSV file which indicate the warp (X in series 1 - Y in series 2). Is there any possible way to do that in gnuplot?

  • How can I make a core-plot graph on the phone that doesn't auto-expand to fill the whole superview

    I'm pretty sure I saw an example where the graph wasn't filling the whole iPhone screen, but I can't get that to happen in my app, nor in the Core-Plot Test app from Switch On The Code. I've added a subview to the original CPLayerHostingView in the sample, then changed the classes – original back to UIView, new subview to CPLayerHostingView, and I've reconnected the File's owner's view outlet to the new subview. When I create a graph with: graph = [[CPXYGraph alloc] initWithFrame: theSubviewOutlet.bounds]; … and step through the first stages of building up the layers the bounds are accurate (i.e. the same as in the .xib) however, when all the initialization is done, and the graph shows up, it fills the whole superview. Am I missing something obvious?

Just copying the plot back to Excel does not seem to work, but I can see that the data is still there somewhere, because hovering over a dot on the plot shows the values.   • XY-Scatter Chart In SSRS Won't Display Points

    I'm a bit confused with this one. I have a Dataset with a BackupDate and a BackupTime as well as a BackupType. The BackupDate is comprised of 12 characters from the left of a datetime string within a table. The BackupTime is comprised of 8 characters from the right of that same datetime string. So for example: BackupDate would be 'December 12 2008' and the BackupTime would be '12:53PM.' I have added an XY-scatter chart to the report. I've added a 'series' value for the BackupType (so one can distinguish between a Full/Incr/Log backup). I've added a category value of BackupDate and set the Scale for the X-axis from the Min of BackupDate to the Max of BackupDate. I've then added an item to the Values with the Y variable set to BackupTime and the X variable set to BackupDate. The interval for the Y-axis is 12:00AM to 11:59PM and the formatting for the labels is 'hh:mmtt'. The BackupTime matches the format of the Y-axis. The BackupDate matches the format of the X-axis. 10 entries are retrieved by my Dataset and the Legend is properly populated by the BackupType field. No points are being plotted on the graph and no markers/pointers are shown if they are enabled. There should be a point on the graph for every point in time of each day there is a backup of a specific type. Am I missing something? Does anyone know of a good tutorial dealing specifically with XY-scatter graphs and using them in a way I intend? I am using the 2005 version of SSRS rather than the 2008 version.     I have some surface data that is generated by an external program as XYZ values. I want to create the following graphs, using matplotlib: Surface plot Contour plot Contour plot overlayed with a surface plot I have looked at several examples for plotting surfaces and contours in matplotlib - however, the Z values seems to be a function of X and Y i.e. Y ~ f(X,Y). I assume that I will somehow need to transform my Y variables, but I have not seen any example yet, that shows how to do this. So, my question is this: given a set of (X,Y,Z) points, how may I generate Surface and contour plots from that data? BTW, just to clarify, I do NOT want to create scatter plots. Also although I mentioned matplotlib in the title, I am not averse to using rpy(2), if that will allow me to create these charts.

    Hello all, I know this should be pretty simple, but I haven't been able to find a similar example. I need to plot different ranges of a datafile differently, but on the same graph. For instance, say my datafile represents a function with x and y values. I want to plot the first N values using a style like lines, and then the next M values using a different style, like points. I was thinking I would need a plot command similar to this: plot [1:5] "my.data" using 1:2 with lines, [6:12] using 1:2 with points, [13:19] using 1:2 with lines Essentially I want to distinguish different areas of the functions. Any ideas? I am sorry if it sounds like I'm rambling but I am quite stumped. Thanks in advance!

    I want to study some "strange" functions by plotting them out in mathematica. One example is the following: mod2[x_] := Which[Mod[x, 2] >= 1, -2 + Mod[x, 2], True, Mod[x, 2]]; f[x_] := Which[-1 <= x <= 1, Abs[x], True, Abs[mod2[x]]]; fn[x_, n_] := Sum[(3/4)^i*f[4^n*x], {i, 0, n}] Plot[{fn[x, 0], fn[x, 1], fn[x, 2], fn[x, 5]}, {x, -2, 2}] However, the plot I got from mma is misleading, in the sense that the maxima and minima of fn[x, 5] should be on the same two levels. But due to high oscillation of the function, and the fact that clearly mma only takes limited number of points to draw the function, you see the plot exhibit strange behavior. Is there any option in plot to remedy for this? Many thanks.

  • Change the size of the text in legend according to the length of the legend vector in the graph

    I have to draw a 20 plots and horizontally place a legends in each plots. I gave the following command for the first plot: plot(x=1:4,y=1:4) legend("bottom",legend = c("a","b","c","d"),horiz=TRUE,text.font=2,cex=0.64) then for the second plot I tried : plot(x=1:2,y=1:2) legend("bottom",legend = c("a","b"),horiz=TRUE,text.font=2,cex=0.64) But because the size of the character vector passed to legend argument are different I get the size of the legend different. Since I have to plot so many different plots having varying sizes of legends,I would want to do it in an automated fashion. Is there a way to do this which can fix the size of the legend in all the plots and fit it to graph size?
