• Nvidia driver overscan issue second monitor via dvi-d cable

  Ok, I know that I have a bit of a bizarre setup, but here goes. I have an old laptop, HP Pavilion 6000. The graphics card in there is a GeForce 7150M. The monitor connection is an old 18pin. The external monitor I use is a Samsung SyncMaster 2333. Don't ask me why, but this monitor only has a dvi-d connection (yes, i have searched it). So I have the monitor plugged into the laptop. If I use any of the Nvidia propriety drivers and try to set the resolution up to 1920x1080 (the monitor's native resolution), I get a massive overscan issue. Over the years I have tried to get this to work, tinkering with my xorg.conf to death. I have also tried this on every Ubuntu since 10.04, on all the corresponding LUbuntus, and on all the Linux Mints since Lisa. Exact same issue. I have even tried it in WinDoze and it works perfectly there (although I did get the error once, but was unable to reproduce it). Using the Open Source drivers it works perfectly iff I switch off the laptop monitor (this makes no difference with the Nvidia drivers). I would have happily gone on using the Open Source drivers, except that since upgrading to LUbuntu 12.10, the Open Source drivers make my monitor completely hazy and have the same overscan issue until I (through the haze, only because I know where things are) go to the monitor settings, activate the laptop's monitor, then deactivate it, and suddenly it comes right. I have to do this every time. So I have to find a way to fix one of them, so I may as well tackle the propriety drivers, hence this overlong question. Amidst other things, I have tried the nvidia-settings, but because it is connected to an 18pin, it detects the monitor as a vga monitor and does not give me overscan correction options. I have tried custom modlines (although there are always more of those try), I have tried using xrandr, and I have tried all the FlatPanelOptions. What I have not tried is a Gentoo build, as I don't have time any more to do that installation, but up to about three years ago when I ran Gentoo exclusively I did not have this issue. Below is an link to an image with a red highlight around the portion of the screen visible to me, the numbers around it are the number of pixels which are cut off.   I have a strange issue with my website and it seems i am unable to understand what cauese the problem.I would highly appreciate your help.The Scenario is I have two websites. Website A Website B Website A is simply hosted within the root directory of my hosting account.Within this root *directory* i have a sub folder " subfolder A " and within which is another subfolder " subfolder B " that contains my site Website B so the path looks like root/sublfolder_A/subfolder_B/ that contains my **Website B ( i.e subfolder_B) ** All goes fine.When i access the website B from my desktop/Laptop Website B is loaded normally. but when i access the Website through a mobile device , mobile site of Website A is loaded while as it should load website_B Also , to let you know , both websites have different URL's and not subdomain's or anything. • Using a second Wifi Router (in order to use a LAN port)

  Problem: Connecting a TV decoder via Internet. It doesn't have inbuilt wifi so wired LAN is the only option. I bought a second Wifi Router so I could use its LAN port to create a wired internet connection to my decoder. What I want to achieve: The second Wifi Router should basically pick up the signal from the main wifi router. I would then use the LAN port to connect (with a wire) to the TV decoder. In other words have my secondary Wifi Router act as an access point, which will enable me to use a wired LAN connection to the decoder. What i've done so far: Connected the second Wifi Router to my laptop via the LAN ports. Access 192.168.1.1 and went into my second router. 1) SSID set to the same one as the main Wifi Router 2) Tried disabling DHCP and enabling DHCP (with the DNS and default gateway configured the same as the main router). When I check my network connections, I see the LAN connection too but it says 'Not connected to the internet' while the Wifi (main router) shows connected. • Windows move onto second monitor when I turn it on

  I'm using a small monitor for my main display I also have an LCD TV hooked up through HDMI as my secondary display. The problem is whenever I turn on the TV most but usually not all of my currently running program windows jump to the secondary display. This is very annoying, because I don't like to keep my TV on unless I'm using it. So when I do turn it on I have to drag and drop each of the windows back on to my main display. I have played around with some Compiz settings to no avail please help.

• Apache outputs all urls of a second domain as a subfolder of the primary domain name

  Hi all, would anyone be able to possibly give me some guidance.. Basically, i have a 'shared hosting' account with a large internet hosting provider, and my account lets me have multiple seperate domains within this folder structure.(note: not aliased domains and not sub domains). so, my goal is to have 2 domains set up. i have already purchased the two domain names i need: The first domain is the 'primary' domain name for the root folder(eg. www.example1.com) and the second domain name is set for one of its sub folders(eg. www.example2.com is set to the folder www.example1.com/sites/music). The problem is that when apache returns a page of the second domain back to the browser, apache writes the hyperlinks as if it's a sub folder of the first domain ( eg. www.example2.com/index.html. comes out as http://www.example1.com/sites/music/index.html). Now, I have done some reading on this, looking though "Apache: the definitive guide"(o'reilly), and although it was useful, couldn't really find the answer. i'm guessing this issue is most likely an apache setup issue in http.conf, rather than an issue with the hosting company itself (which is why im posting it here) and I have also been to the official documentation for apache site, and i am guessing i might need to use something like the rewritebase directive in htaccess files.. but im really not sure, im more of a java programmer guy, and have been struggling with this for a couple of days. Any guidance would be REALLY appreciated. If it helps, my hosting company is godaddy, and my sites are hosted on linux. My problem was originally with wordpress which i reinstalled a number of times in various ways to correct the problem, but ive just done a test with a very simple static html, and it still has the same issue with relative urls like this: <html> <head></head><body><a href="images/dog.html">Pictures of Dogs</a></body> </html> However, it is fine if i hardcode the urls like this: <html> <head></head><body><a href="http://www.example2.com/images/dog.html">Pictures of Dogs</a></body> </html> Thanks heaps, Steve R NOW FIXED Ok, the problem has now been fixed, and i didn't need to modify any .conf or .htaccess files. The problem was, that when I went to install the second application into a second domain from the godaddy site, one of the setup questions is that it asks you which site you want it installed to. after that it asks for the desired folder path. However, the problem was that the second domain name was already pointing to the correct subfolder of the primary domain. So when I started installing wordpress again and came to the menu to select which site it was for, and it listed only the primary domain as an option, i assumed that this was like a label of "which hosting account?", or "which primary domain will your application will be installed under?" because I already knew that in the next step i was specifiying the folder. In order to correct this, you must make sure that your second domain is added to your domain list so that it will be listed as an option during the installation process. • Windows Question: RunOnce/Second Boot Issues

  I am attempting to create a Windows XP SP3 image that will run my application on Second Boot. Here is the intended workflow. 1) Run Image Prep Utility (I wrote) on windows to add my runonce entries and clean a few things up. 2) Reboot to ghost, make image file. 3) Package into my ISO and distribute. 4) System will be imaged by user. 5) On first boot, I have about 5 things that run, one of which includes a driver updater (I wrote) for my own specific devices. 6) One of the entries inside of HKCU/../runonce is a reg file, which adds another key to HKLM/../runonce. This is how second boot is acquired. 7) As a result of the driver updater, user is prompted to reboot. 8) My application is then launched from HKLM/../runonce on second boot. This workflow works perfectly, except for a select few legacy systems that contain devices that cause the add hardware wizard to pop up. When the add hardware wizard pops up is when I begin to see problems. It's important to note, that if I manually inspect the registry after the add hardware wizard pops up, it appears as I would expect, with all the first boot scripts having run, and it's sitting in a state I would correctly expect it to be in for a second boot scenario. The problem comes when I click next on the add hardware wizard, it seems to re-run the single entry I've added, and re-executes the runonce scripts. (only one script now as it's already executed and cleared out the initial entries). This causes my application to open as if it were a second boot, only when next is clicked on the add hardware wizard. If I click cancel, and reboot, then it also works as expected. I don't care as much about other solutions, because I could design a system that doesn't fully rely on Microsoft's registry. I simply can't find any information as to WHY this is happening. I believe this is some type of Microsoft issue that's presenting itself as a result of an overstretched image that's expected to support too many legacy platforms, but any help that can be provided would be appreciated. • Win 7 dual monitor: Don't move application windows when turn off second monitor

  The title is correct, it should say "Don't" not "Doesn't". I Don't want the application windows to be moved to the main monitor when I turn off the monitors. On my Win XP dual monitor system, I can turn off the monitors and when I turn them back on, the application windows are in the same locations on the same monitors as when I turned the monitors off. On the Win 7 system, every time I turn off the monitors (or just the second monitor), all of the application windows are moved to the "main" monitor. After experimenting with the settings, I've found one process that enables me to turn off the monitors and still keep my application windows laid out in my chosen locations on the two monitors: 1) Switch the display setting to a single monitor. 2) Turn off the monitors. 3) Turn on the monitors. 4) Switch the display setting back to "Extend these Displays". After step 4, the application windows that I had laid out on the second monitor are moved back to their original locations on the second monitor. Is there a windows or nVidia setting that would leave the application windows on the second monitor so that I don't need to switch the display settings every time I turn off the monitors? Specs: Windows 7 64-bit dual monitors (1 DP, 1 DVI) Desktop (most questions seem to be about laptops) nVidia Quadro 2000 nVidia Control Panel nVidia nView Control Panel

• Unable to connect to second name of Windows 2008 Server R2 machine from XP

  I used the command netdom computername /add:newname.domainname.com to add a second name to a server running Windows 2008 Server R2. After restarting the server, I had DNS "A" entries for both names. In addition, the second name was added to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanServer\Parameters\OptionalNames, which I believe should have taken care of any NetBIOS resolution. From my Windows 7 workstation, I can ping both names and running net view on both names reveals the same list of resources. From Windows XP, I can ping both names, but net view only works on the first name. Running net view on the second name returns: System error 52 has occurred. You were not connected because a duplicate name exists on the network. Go to System in Control Panel to change the computer name and try again. What do I need to do to make the second name usable from XP clients? Update: I was able to resolve the problem by adding the REG_DWORD key DisableStrictNameChecking = 1 to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanServer\Parameters, then restarting the Server service. However, I do not understand why this was necessary.

But after a little, I discovered there is a second edition of the book, so I checked it out. But surprisingly, the second edition does not cover some subjects that the first actually does (like telnet, ftp, smtp etc...), so I thought "well I just have to read the misshing chapters on the first edition", but if they removed them in the second, it is for a reason. Is there really a good reason for that?

• Printing the second page from a Calc sheet

  I've created a simple invoice document in LibreOffice Calc and it consists of 2 pages. I have defined the print range for my document as: $A$1:$D$33,$D$34:$D$35 My first page holds the actual invoice information the second page is a single merged cell holding terms and conditions text (wrapped to the cell width). The second page is defined by a row break. When I export the sheet as a PDF the first page comes out great but the second page with the terms text is all wrong. On the left hand side I see a portion of text (looks like a single column) and when I select the text inside the PDF I can see it go of the page somewhere to the left. I get the same result in a print preview. I'm at a complete loss on how to approach this problem and any insight is much appreciated.

In master.cf, I have the following transport: zarafa unix - n n - 10 pipe flags= user=vmail argv=/usr/bin/zarafa-dagent ${user} Because I can't get Postfix to deliver to two transports, what I probably need, is a wrapper transport, using procmail maybe, that delivers to zarafa-dagent and relays to a second server (not just forward to an address; relay to a second server). It can also be a script that calls sendmail or whatever, but at the moment, I don't know how to proceed.

  I have two hard drives with win8 installed to both of them. Sometimes, when I boot from the second one (with F12 boot-menu and the second drive selection) and later reboot and start my PC from the first one, I get a disk error for a consistency problem. Windows ask for a disk check and after that, I can't anymore boot from the second drive or have access to it. Why this happens and how can I prevent it?   It would appear that Broadcast Television is often 1080i30 (60 fields/s), and non-movie DVDs (example, instructional or TV shows) are 60fields/s as well, at some lower resolution (480i?) However, almost all video that ends up on the internet, whether in x264-encoded content, Youtube, etc. is 30 frames per second, that is to say , it is progressive scan. However, when you watch content on your TV, I'm guessing the TV converts it to progressive for you, but the end result is a very fluid picture that "feels" quite a bit like 60frames/s. What is the best way to obtain this result when ripping interlaced content sourced from TV or DVDs? Can I rip a DVD that is 60 fields per second to 60 frames per second? I would imagine classic deinterlace filters do not do this, they merge fields and create a 30fps output. I'm using handbrake.

I can do this manually by opening the start menu from the secondary monitor and by default next time I open the start menu it will open on the second monitor. Is there an option where I can force it to stay on the secondary display. If I restart or accidently open start from the primary monitor it changes the default start menu display monitor to my primary monitor.

  Would It be possible to connec my xbox 360 to a second AirPort Extreme, wherein this AirPort Extreme is wirelessly linked to the first? I assume it is and is straight forward, but I thought I'd ask first. Also, would an Ethernet to a second AirPort Extreme be any faster than, say, a dual band wifi connection from a MacBook? • WinPE, Startnet.CMD and passing variables to second batch file not working

  I don't know scripting or PowerShell (yes I need to learn something). I'm not an expert batch file maker either. I have a WinPE flash drive which I used to deploy OS images. I have the WIM, drivers and anything needed else outside the WinPE environment to ensure that Updates, changes are easier for me to make. I use the "STARTNET.CMD" batch file which is part of the WinPE. The reason to go through the letter drives is that the WinPE always gets the X letter drive assigned. The flash drive itself can receive a random letter which always changes. My deployment menu is located on the flash drive it self and not inside the WinPE. This is so that if I need to make a change I don't have to re-do the WinPE. I am able to locate the "menu.bat" batch file and launch it. I use a variable to capture the letter drive. I call the second batch file named "menu.bat" and pass the variable to it. When the second batch file loads, I believe that I am calling the variable correctly. If I break out of the batch file I can echo the variable and see the expected reply. The issue is that I can't use the variable to work with anything on the second batch file. In my test, I can get this to work over and over. When it runs from the real USB flash drive it does not work. I removed comments from the second batch file to make it smaller. My issue is that files below all get a message stating that the system cannot find the path specified.
