• Ubuntu 12.04 full iphone backup

  I am using ubuntu 12.04 and have an iPhone 5 using iOS 6.0.2. My question is how can I do a full backup on ubuntu. Most questions I have seen on this are related to peoples music libraries etc how ever this is of little importance to me. What I want to be able to do is a complete (photos,contacts, OS etc) image backup (and restore if required). So far I have looked up libimobiledevice and this seems to be just that a API. Other suggestions are about Rhythmbox for music etc but this is not of huge importance to me. Finally the suggestion is for using Itune and some combination of Wine or Playforlinux. But even if you get iTunes working iPhone access is limited. Surely someone must have the same problem and found a solution. J

So now: p x.methods #> [m_greeting, a_greeting, e_greeting, n_greeting, r_greeting, ...] And p x.m_greeting #> "good morning" p x.r_greeting #> ['hello', 'goodbye'] I realize that this is sort of what instance variables are to do (and that if I wanted them immutable I could make them frozen constants) but, for reasons beyond my control, I need to make methods instead. • Passing arguments to java vm from NSIS script

  I'm developing my first java application using Eclipse. I've recently needed to adjust the amount of memory allocated by passing -Xmx256M to the JVM. The application is currently package up as a runnable jar and installed using the NSIS. I'm having a problem passing arguments to the jar file once its installed. What is the common practice for doing this? Here is what I'm currently doing in my nsi file: CreateShortcut "$SMPROGRAMS\$StartMenuGroup\$(^Name).lnk" "$SYSDIR\javaw.exe" "-jar -Xmx256M $INSTDIR\Foo.jar" This results in the following being created as the shortcut Target on windows: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -jar -Xmx256M C:\Program Files\Foo\Foo.jar Unfortunately this does not work due to the space in C:\Program Files, If I change the link created manually to include quotes all is well: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -jar -Xmx256M "C:\Program Files\Foo\Foo.jar"

• Looking for Full Screen Web-Browser in Vizio or Samsung TV's

  I see that Google TV, inside Sony, has a Chrome browser. Is the same thing possible inside Vizio, or Samsung, or any other TV? The 42" Vizio is $499 at Costco, and the Sony with Google TV is $999. We're looking at a buch of these TV's that have build in Wi-Fi, to place around the office as Big Dashboards, and I don't want to have a computer attached to get web content on the screen. It's my understanding that both Samsung Apps, and Vizio Apps, use Yahoo Widgets as their ap engine. Anyone know of a way to get a full screen browser going, without attaching a computer? We thought of attaching an Apple TV, which can be jailbroken, but that is just another piece of equipment to lose, break, etc. Thank you!

  I have a Visual Studio 2008 C++ application where I would like to copy all of program arguments in to a string separated by a whitespace " ". i.e., if my program is called as foo.exe \Program Files, then my folder string below would contain \Program Files Below is an example of what I'm doing now. I was wondering if there was a shorter or easier method of doing this.   Imagine I have a template function like this: template<Iterator> void myfunc(Iterator a, Iterator::value_type b) { ... } Is there a way to declare a typedef for Iterator::valuetype that I can use in the function signature? For example: template< typename Iterator, typedef Iterator::value_type type> void myfunc(Iterator a, type b) { ... } Thus far, I've resorted to using default template arguments and Boost concept checking to ensure the default is always used: template< typename Iterator, typename type = Iterator::value_type > void myfunc(Iterator a, type b) { BOOST_STATIC_ASSERT(( boost::type_traits::is_same< typename Iterator::value_type, type >::value )); ... } ...but it would be nice if there was support in the language for this type of thing.

But while running queries, I have observed it's NOT utilizing full resources. I am thinking that if I let MySQL utilize maximum resources on my server, it can reduce execution time. How can I let my MySQL server utilize maximum resources in a healthy way?

  So I have this SharePoint 2007 site that is basically trash. I'm supposed to just toss it, but I'm in need of copying all of the data in form of traditional files and folders from certain projects. And since the transaction log is full, it's so damn slow. Even opening SharePoint takes up to 15 minutes, or it won't open at all. Copying of files is extremely slow. So I'm in need of a quick fix here. Just to be able to copy out some files and folders. I don't need to fix the problem per se. What can I do to fix it temporarily to be able to copy out the data?

• Full Access user removed from NTFS Share

  I don't know how it happened but for some reason one of the sub folders in the Network shares (call the share Market and the sub folder Support) no longer has any groups or users with full permissions on the share. The Market top level has users and groups with these permissions and everything is set up for folder inheritance but it's not inheriting permissions from the top level and only has modify permissions for the single group that is in the Access List for the sub folder Support. I can see items in the sub folder but I can not add, edit, or delete permissions to the Support folder. What are my options so I can once again manage permissions?

  Hi, I switched a few weeks ago from a dedicated server to a VPS. Now that everything is working well on the VPS I would like to shutdown the dedicated server and close my account with the hosting company. For peace of mind and in order to be more safe I would like to do a full backup of the server before stopping it.   I'm running into problems trying to pass absolute URIs as parameters with clean URLs enabled. I've got hook_menu() set up like this: function mymodule_menu() { return array( 'page/%' = array( 'title' = 'DBpedia Display Test', 'page callback' = 'mymodule_dbpedia_display', 'page arguments' = array(1), ), ); } and in the page callback: function mymodule_dbpedia_display($uri) { // Make an HTTP request for this URI // and then render some things return $output; } What I'm hoping to do is somehow pass full URIs (e.g. "http://dbpedia.org/resource/Coffee") to my page callback. I've tried a few things and nothing's worked so far... http://mysite.com/page/http%3A%2F%2Fdbpedia.org%2Fresource%2FCoffee Completely breaks Drupal's rewriting http://mysite.com/page/?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fdbpedia.org%2Fresource%2FCoffee Gives a 404 http://mysite.com/page/http://dbpedia.org/resource/Coffee Returns just "http:", which makes sense I could probably use $_GET to pull out the whole query string, but I guess I'm hoping for a more 'Drupal' solution.   I wonder if it is possible to use a configuration for that command "set listchars=tab:¦¦,trail:·" to "see" 4 spaces as tabs and get the effect of the picture below (using real tabs)... I use the setting "set expandtab" to Vim use spaces in place of tabs. I really need to use spaces instead of tabs, but I would keep the functionality above. There is some form of do this? Here's how Vim behaves when I use "set expandtab"... ... I wish he recognized one tab for every 4 spaces like above! • The cache is getting at full level so fast

  Please, the memory and the cache are getting to the full level quite quickly under my linux mint 9 - isadora system. I used Ubuntu and Debian before, and it was not causing this issue at all. At the current time i typing the following command frequently to empty the cache "echo 3 /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches". Please any way around this? or do you know what's going wrong? | I am only programming on this machine; no graphics, no games nothing. Thanks in advance for your help!

  I've got a class like this: class Image (models.Model): ... sizes = ((90,90), (300,250)) def resize_image(self): for size in sizes: ... and another class like this: class SomeClassWithAnImage (models.Model): ... an_image = models.ForeignKey(Image) what i'd like to do with that class is this: class SomeClassWithAnImage (models.Model): ... an_image = models.ForeignKey(Image, sizes=((90,90), (150, 120))) where i'm can specify the sizes that i want the Image class to use to resize itself as a argument rather than being hard coded on the class. I realise I could pass these in when calling resize_image if that was called directly but the idea is that the resize_image method is called automatically when the object is persisted to the db. if I try to pass arguments through the foreign key declaration like this i get an error straight away. is there an easy / better way to do this before I begin hacking down into django?

• Wrong chrome full screen resolution with multiple displays

  I am using Google Chrome on Windows 7 64bit with two displays. The displays have different resolutions and aspect-ratios. My problem is best visible when playing back full-screen videos from a flash player inside chrome (but it is not flash related). The maximum size is calculated from the primary displays' resolution, even when the relevant window is maximised on the second screen. The problem is also visible on websites that set the width to 100%. The 100% then apply to the primary display, even when the window is opened on the secondary display. Are there any known solutions to this problem? I am observing it since many Chrome versions, do not know if it has been ever correct.

  Can I set my browser or download a special application to log/download everything that is going through network while browsing a site? When I open a website in Firefox, it downloads the files to temporary folders, but I need everything, and by everything I mean full Ajax request logging, image downloading...etc Every file that is downloaded while browsing sites (and not temporary, I need them later, so It should log and categorize it somehow). Otherwise: I want to automatically save everything you can see in the browser's network tab (after pressing F12) and not just the response, also need the information about what it sent and what it got back.

  I'm a proud Suser. I'm about to reinstall 12.2 on my ASUS N76VZ (UEFI x64 laptop). Since I'm very sensitive about laptop security against theft or unwanted inspection, I chose to use BitLocker with USB dongle in Windows 7. When installing Suse the last time I found that only the home partition (separated from root) was capable of being encrypted. Does Suse offer a full disk encryption solution like BitLocker that I haven't discovered yet? Or is encrypting home partition the only way to protect data? Encrypting only home is feasible as one stores personal data in home, but I still would like to encrypt the whole thing! Also, using a hardware token (no TPM available) for unlocking is preferred to password, if possible! Thanks

  On a virtualized server running Ubuntu 10.04, df reports the following: # df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda1 7.4G 7.0G 0 100% / none 498M 160K 498M 1% /dev none 500M 0 500M 0% /dev/shm none 500M 92K 500M 1% /var/run none 500M 0 500M 0% /var/lock none 500M 0 500M 0% /lib/init/rw /dev/sda3 917G 305G 566G 36% /home This is puzzling me for two reasons: 1.) df says that /dev/sda1, mounted at /, has a 7.4 gigabyte capacity, of which only 7.0 gigabytes are in use, yet it reports / being 100 percent full; and 2.) I can create files on / so it clearly does have space left. Possibly relevant is that the directory /www is a symbolic link to /home/www, which is on a different partition (/dev/sda3, mounted at /home). Can anyone offer suggestions on what might be going on here? The server appears to be working without issue, but I want to make sure there's not a problem with the partition table, file systems or something else which might result in implosion (or explosion) later.

  Currently I'm creating a backup of one of my hard drives. It's my main hard drive, where the operating system is running on. Because the backup is done during full operation I'm asking me if the backup really includes all files (registry, ...). Can I restore the backup on another hard drive and then run the operating system again without problems? Normally I would say that you have to boot from a CD (without running OS) to make a backup. I made a Google research but I didn't found my case so far.

  I'm trying to integrate Mixpanel with GWT, but I have problems calling an event with a property and one value. My function to track an simple event (without values): public native void trackEvent(String eventName)/*-{ $wnd.mixpanel.track(eventName); }-*/; It works. But when I want to add some properties and values, it doesn't work properly: public native void trackComplexEvent(String eventName, String property, String value)/*-{ $wnd.mixpanel.track(eventName, {property:value}); }-*/; I have 2 problems with this: 1) Mixpanel says the property name is: "property"(yes, the name of the variable that I'm passing, not the value). 2) Mixpanel says the value is:undefined An example from mixpanel web is: mixpanel.track("Video Play", {"age": 13, "gender": "male"}); So, I guess the problem is I'm doing a wrong call or with wrong type of arguments.
