  Hi, I'm generating WCF service using Biztalk. The problem is I don't know how to modify timeouts and message max size, because it has only mex endpoint. I'm surprised how this works at all with just mex endpoint.   I am trying use a web service in a C# ASP.Net Web Application. The service is built in php and is located on some remote server not under my control so i cant modify it to add meta data or something else into it. When i use the "Add Web Reference" option in Visual Studio 2008, I receive the following error: The HTML document does not contain Web service discovery information. while trying to add the following web service. https://subreg.forpsi.com/robot2/subreg_command.php?wsdl The web service functions are exposed and displayed in Visual Studio 2008. however i could not add the reference to it for use in ASP.Net Application. t3Service" Description Methods __construct ( ) create_contact ( ) get_contact ( ) get_domain_info ( ) get_last_error_code ( ) get_last_error_msg ( ) get_NSSET ( ) get_owner_mail ( ) login ( ) register_domain ( ) register_domain_with_admin_contacts ( ) renew_domain ( ) request_sendmail ( ) send_auth_info ( ) transfer_domain ( ) I also tried the wsdl.exe method by retrieving the xml and copying it to a wsdl file and generating a proxy class. • Issue Passing NSMutableDictionary to Method

  Hello all, I'm trying some basic iPhone programming -- all has been going well but recently I've hit a bit of a roadblock. I've got a chunk of code that's passing an NSMutableDictionary (amongst other things) to a method in another class: [self.shuttle makeAPICallAndReturnResultsUsingMode:@"login" module:@"login" query:credentials]; The NSMutableArray credentials is previously defined a bit above as such: NSMutableDictionary *credentials = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [credentials setObject:username forKey:@"username"]; [credentials setObject:password forKey:@"password"]; The method that receives it looks like such: -(id)makeAPICallAndReturnResultsUsingMode:(NSString *)mode module:(NSString *)module query:(NSMutableDictionary *)query From debugging I have determined that the code works fine up until this point within the above method: [query setObject:self.sessionID forKey:@"session_id"]; At this point, the application terminates -- the Console informs me of this exception: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '* -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: method sent to an uninitialized mutable dictionary object' This leads me to believe that I must initialize NSMutableDictionary in some way in my new method before I can access it, but I have no idea how. Any advice?

• Workflow foundation 4.0 message correlation and error reporting

  I have a workflow service that runs and performs a number of different operations (such as web service calls). If one of these operations fails I call an error reporting web service to notify a seperate system that one of my workflow operations has failed. As the error could be something like the web service being down, I loop and retry this operation until it works. There can be times though when the data I'm passing to this web service is faulty and it needs changing. So I need to be able to hook into this running (but delayed) workflow and change local workflow variables and then re-run the operation. I've looked at message correlation in workflow 4.0 to achieve this but because the delay activity is active in my running workflow instance, any second service call doesn't do anything (it's like the delay activity is blocking any other requests). I've tried setting 'CanCreateInstance' to both true and false but it doesn't help. Thanks!

• Strange behavior with Powershell scriptblock variable scope and modules, any suggestions?

  NOTE: I'm using PowerShell 2.0 on Windows Vista. I'm trying to add support for specifying build arguments to psake, but I've run into some strange PowerShell variable scoping behavior dealing specifically with calling functions that have been exported using Export-ModuleMember (which is how psake exposes it's main method). Following is a simple PowerShell module to illustrate (named repoCase.psm1): function Test { param( [Parameter(Position=0,Mandatory=0)] [scriptblock]$properties = {} ) $defaults = {$message = "Hello, world!"} Write-Host "Before running defaults, message is: $message" . $defaults #At this point, $message is correctly set to "Hellow, world!" Write-Host "Aftering running defaults, message is: $message" . $properties #At this point, I would expect $message to be set to whatever is passed in, #which in this case is "Hello from poperties!", but it isn't.   I have a remote share in windows 7 and accessing the same share from windows 2008.   I am using a template function and I am passing and I may be sending instances of a variety of classes to a string stream. What can I do to make sure this continues to work? Let me be more specific where do I define the behavior for this? Is there some member that should be on each class being sent to the string stream, should I in some enhance or extend the existing String stream (I was thinking building a class that inherits from sstream and overloads the << operator to handle all the possible classes)? I had trouble even finding documentation on this, so even links to more resources would be helpful.

• Passing complex objects to javascript via IScriptControl

  I'm playing around with a asp.net page that's using the IScriptControl interface to pass data from the code-behind to the custom javascript object running on the browser. I'm passing a number of properties via IScriptControl.GetScriptDescriptors(), and they're all working fine, except for one. That one is a class derived from System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary<. And even that one has been working for me, so long as the elements in the collection were scalars - ints, doubles, and strings. But when I tried to pass a member of a class, it showed up as a null object in the javascript. The class in question is marked [Serializable]. I changed it to a struct, and got the same behavior. It looks as if the serializer used in IScriptControl does a shallow copy. I need a deep copy. Any ideas?

• Qt moc failure without an error message

  So I'm pretty new to Qt, and I've just inherited a project from someone else who is also new to Qt. He isn't around this week btw. We are using Visual Studio 2008, and have the latest version of Qt installed(4.6.2). The project builds on my coworker's machine fine, and I can get the project from svn and build it directly. But under any other circumstances it refuses to build on my machine, and it doesn't give me much of an explanation why. Even if I just do a 'build clean' and then a 'build' it doesn't work. Any slight modification will make it fail. When I try to build the entire project I get the error message: 1Moc'ing MatrixTypeInterface.h... 1moc: Cannot create .\GeneratedFiles\Debug\moc_MatrixTypeInterface.cpp;.\GeneratedFiles\Debug\moc_matrixtypeinterface.cpp 1Project : error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from "Moc'ing MatrixTypeInterface.h..." The moc tool doesn't give any sort of error message as to why it isn't working, and I wasted most of yesterday trying to figure out why. I got the command that VS was using to call moc, and I entered in the command line myself. It didn't write anything to the screen. Any ideas?

• Passing switches to Xcode 3.1 user scripts

  I have a user script that would be much more useful if it could dynamically change some of its execution dependent on what the user wanted. Passing simple switches would easily solve this problem but I don't see any way to do it. I also tried embedding a keyword in the script name, but Xcode copies the script to a guid-looking filename before execution, so that won't work either. So does anyone know of a way to call a user script with some sort of argument? (other that the normal %%%var%%% variables) Thanks! EDIT: User scripts are accessible via the script menu in Xcode's menubar (between the Window and Help menus). My question is not about "run script" build phase scripts. My apologies for leaving that somewhat ambiguous.

• Console app showing message box on error

  I am trying to integrate with a vendors app by calling it with command args from c#. It is meant to automate a process that we need to do with out needing anyone to interact with the application. If there are no errors when running the process it works fine. However if there are any errors the vendors application will show a message box with the error code and error message and wait for someone to click the ok button. When the ok button is clicked it will exit the application returning the error code as the exit code. As my application is going to be a windows service on a server, needing someone to click an okay button will be an issue. Just wondering what the best solution would be to get around this. My code calling the vendor app is... • Errors/warnings passing int/char arrays by reference

  I'm working on a program where I try to pass parameters by reference. I'm trying to pass a 2D int array and a 1D char array by reference. Function prototype: void foo (int* (&a)[2][2], char* (&b)[4]) Function call: foo (a, b); However, when I compile the code with -ansi and -Wall flags on gcc, I get the following errors: foo.c: At top level: error: expected ‘)’ before ‘&’ token error: expected ‘;’, ‘,’ or ‘)’ before ‘char’ foo.c: In function ‘main’: error: too many arguments to function ‘foo’ I've stripped out the rest of the code of my program and concentrated on the bits which throw up the errors. I've searched around on StackOverflow and tried out different ways to pass the parameters, but none of them seem to work. (I took this way of passing parameters from the discussion on StackOverflow here.) Could you please tell me where I'm going wrong?

• 0xC0017011 and other error messages - what is the error message text?

  Recently there was a bug raised against BIDS Helper which originated in my Expression Editor control. Thankfully the person that raised it kindly included a screenshot, so I had the error code (HRESULT 0xC0017011) and a stack trace that pointed the finger firmly at my control, but no error message text. The code itself looked fine so I searched on the error code but got no results. I’d expected to get a hit from Books Online with the Integration Services Error and Message Reference topic at the very least, but no joy. There is however a more accurate and definitive reference, namely the header file that defines all these codes dtsmsg.h which you can find at- C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\SDK\Include\dtsmsg.h Looking the code up in the header file gave me a much more useful error message. //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// // The parameter is sensitive // // MessageId: DTS_E_SENSITIVEPARAMVALUENOTALLOWED // // MessageText: // // Accessing value of the parameter variable for the sensitive parameter "%1!s!" is not allowed. Verify that the variable is used properly and that it protects the sensitive information. // #define DTS_E_SENSITIVEPARAMVALUENOTALLOWED ((HRESULT)0xC0017011L) Unfortunately I’d forgotten all about this. By the time I had remembered about it, the person who raised the issue had managed to narrow it down to something to do with having  sensitive parameter. Putting that together with the error message I’d finally found, a quick poke around in the code and I found the new GetSensitiveValue method which seemed to do the trick. The HResult fields are also listed online but it only shows the short error message, and it doesn’t include that all so important HRESULT value itself. So let this be a lesson to you (and me!), if you need to check  SSIS error go straight to the horses mouth - dtsmsg.h. This is particularly true when working with early builds, or CTP releases when we expect the documentation to be a bit behind. There is also a programmatic approach to getting better SSIS error messages. I should to take another look at the error handling in the control, or the way it is hosted in BIDS Helper. I suspect that if I use an implementation of Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper.IDTSInfoEvents100 I could catch the error itself and get the full error message text which I could then report back. This would obviously be a better user experience and also make it easier to diagnose any issues like this in the future. See ExprssionEvaluator.cs for an example of this in use in the Expression Editor control.

• How to I access "Deny" message from a Lidgren client?

  I'm using the Lidgren v3 network for a UDP client/server networking model. On the server end, I'm initializing a NetServer object with the NetIncomingMessage.ConnectionApproval message type enabled. So the client is able to successfully connect and the first packet it sends is a login packet, containing a username and password supplied by the user. The server is receiving that and doing some black magic to authenticate, and everything works up to that point. If the login fails, the server calling NetIncomingMessage.SenderConnection.Deny("Invalid Login Credentials"). I want to know how to properly receive this deny message on the client. I'm getting the message, it shows up with a message type of NetIncomingMessage.StatusChanged. If I call ReadString on that message, I get a corrupted version of the string I passed to the Deny method on the server. The type of corruption varies, I've seen odd characters in there but in every case it's truncated and is way shorter than the string I entered. Any ideas? The official documentation is sparse on this topic. I could use pointers from anyone who has successfully used the Lidgren library and uses the Accept or Deny methods. Also, if I don't do any authentication and just Approve() the connection every time, stuff actually works just fine and I'm getting reliable two-way UDP traffic. (And lastly, Stack Exchange said I don't have enough reputation to use the "Lidgren" tag....???)

• How can I reply to email by sending a delivery failure message?

  Occasionally, I receive unwanted emails, particularly low-volume spam, or email messages falsely addressed to me (possibly due to typos). I don't want to spend the energy to write a personal message, but I do want to let the sender know that the message never arrived at its destination, and that resending it will be useless. In my opinion, a delivery error message to the sender will fill that need. So, the question is if there is an easy way to send error messages back to the sender. Is there any email client out there which supports sending delivery failure messages as a reply to incoming email -- ideally in one click? (Or, which can be configured to do so?) Alternatively, what is the best way to set up an environment that allows me to send delivery failure messages without too much effort per message sent?

• strange run time error message from CIImage initWithContentsOfURL

  When executing the following code I receive a run time error when the code executes the second line of code. The error (which shows up in the debugger) says: [NSButton initWithContentsOfURL:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x100418e10. I don't understand this message, because it looks to me (based on my source code) like the initWithContentsOfURL message is being sent to the myImage instance (of the CIImage class) ... not NSButton. Any idea what is going on? If it matters ... this code is in the Application Controller class module of an Xcode project (a Cocoa application) -- within a method that is called when I click on a button on the application window.   Hello, I have a dictionary I'm passing to a View. I want to be able to pass the values of that dictionary back to a Controller action from this same View. Is there anyway this can be accomplished without using a form? The situation is that I need to be able to pass these back to a controller action that is called when a user clicks an ActionLink from the View, and in my experience an ActionLink cannot be used to submit a values of a form, i.e. I've only been able to submit values of a form using the form's submit button. Unless there's a way to use an ActionLink to submit values in a form.

  As We are working on a asp .net project there three ways one can update data into database when there are multiple rows updation / insertion required Let's assume we need to update employee education detail (which could be 1,3,5 or 10 records) Method to Update Data Pass value as parameter (Traditional approach), If 10 records are there then 10 round trip required Pass data as xml and write logic inside your stored procedure to get that data from xml and update the table (only single roundtrip required) Use Table valued parameters (only single roundtrip required) Note : Data is available as List, so i need to convert it to xml or any other format if i need to pass. There are no. of places in entire application we need to update data in bulk (or multiple records) I just need your suggestions that Which method will be faster (please mention if there are some other overheads) Manageability or testability concern with any approach Any other bottleneck or issue with any of the approach (Serialization /Deserialization concern or limit on size of the data passing) Any other method you suggest for same operations Thanks
