  I'm having problems getting my sound to output via HDMI to my TV. • ffmpeg: cut multiple input files with seeking to one output file

  I have list of video files (loaded from database), each with start and end time of requested interval: # file begin end v1.mp4 1:01 2:01 v2.mp4 3:02 3:32 v3.mp4 2:03 5:23 And I need to create single video file containing these intervals: [0:00]---v1---[2:00]---v2---[2:30]---v3---[5:50] I preffer usig ffmpeg, since it is installed on server. Caller program is written in PHP. It is easy to cut one input to one output (argument escaping removed for clarity): exec("ffmpeg -ss $begin -i $input_file -ss $begin -c copy $output_file"); I there any easier way than executing ffmpeg for each interval and then execute it once more to concatenate prepared clips together? I really do not like to have a lot of temporary files or dealing with complex process handling.

• Connect Lenovo W520 with TV using VGA output

  I am trying to connect my Lenovo Thinkpad W520 with my 32 inch TV (Samsung) using he VGA output.The problem is that after connecting it with the TV I go to System Settings and then Monitors but it doesn't show up there.I rebooted my system and again nothing happened.So I tried to change my default video card in the BIOS and I chose to boot with Intel's card only.Again though nothing happened.I didn't tried with my NVidia video card because last time I did that Ubuntu was completely destroyed after saving the configuration file through the NVidia's X Server Control Panel.My laptop has NVidia Optimus technology,but I can choose from the BIOS which video card I want to use.After running : lspci | grep VGA in terminal the results are: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) (It shows only the Intel's video card because curently I have chose to boot using only Intel's video card.If I chose from the BIOS that I want to use the NVidia Optimus Technology and the option to let the system whether or not the Optimus technology is supported then both cards will show up in terminal after running lspci | grep VGA.)

  I want to render output on a device to an arbitary quadirlateral, i.e. project texture on to a quad. What are the possible ways I could implement it? Till now, I have investigated: Drawing textured quadrilateral - Quads look odd as they are composed of triangles, and the distortion looks odd. The issue I'm facing has been discussed here and here as well. Setting transformation on device - Need help in getting this implemented. Pixel shaders - Not able to implement the desired effect. Any help would be much appreciated.

  I've been out of the Ubuntu loop for quite a while now and have a completely new laptop now. I've tested only Haxe and it works pretty well and quite fast. What about other ones? What is your expirience? How much ugly is generated code? Update. Any language chains (e.g. X - Scheme - C) will be perfectly OK as answer if its use is practical enough and suited for production use.

• Creating an install drive - can not open output file autorun.inf

  I am trying to make an install/boot drive for a computer that has no operating system and no optical drive. I used the ISO from Ubuntu.com and the burner from pendrivelinux.com. When the program starts writing to the flash drive, there is an error displayed that says : "0 can not open output file E:\autorun.inf" But continues to write data. After it has finished, I remove the drive and insert to the other computer and turn it on, but it never finds a drive to boot from. What is causing this problem and how can I fix it ?

• How do I output my audio input?

  A few iterations ago, I think this was Jaunty but could've been before, I would plug a 1/8" audio cable from the line-out of a Windows netbook to the line-in of my Ubuntu machine, so I would have all the sound from both machines without having to plug both into a mixer which I don't have. I didn't do this much, as I was pretty-much happy with Banshee at the time. But with Karmic, and still with Lucid, I can only get the output if I'm recording with Audacity. Which I'm not going to do from my web-development and systems programming workstation. I can tell by plugging in headphones that my netbook has audio out working. I can see Sound Preferences that the Ubuntu machine is receiving them. I just want the old behavior back. Help?

• Apache Redirect to Jboss SSL

  I'm trying to have an SSL Connection to an Apache server on port 443 which I want to use to proxy connections to a JBoss server on a different port. The SSL certificates sit on the Jboss server not on the Apache server. Is it possible to redirect HTTPS traffic from Apache to the Jboss Server and have the JBoss server do the SSL handshake? The Apache server must be able to redirect HTTPS traffic for two different URLS. One for a secure site. The other for access to web services. By the way I'm using it mutual authentication, if that makes any difference. What does the Apache config file need to contain? or are there any good example of this out there? Thanks

  Hi there, I'm currently running an OpenVPN server for multiple clients. All traffic is directed through the VPN (it's set up as gateway; push "redirect-gateway def1"). So far, all is working fine. However, I'd like to connect a couple of servers to this virtual private network, without these servers using the OVPN daemon as gateway. These servers have to be accessible from both their WAN as well as their LAN IP address. Certain services will be accessible only from the LAN side. (had to take out the "//" in the href code above because this is my first post, sorry).

  We have an interesting hosting environment that dictates all secure traffic must travel over a specific sub domain. E.g. http://secure.domain.com/my-page I'd like to handle this switch using URL Rewrite, i.e. at server level, rather than application level. My cases are: https://secure.domain.com/page = NO CHANGE, remains the same https://domain.com/page = sub-domain inserted, https://secure.domain.com/page https://www.domain.com/page = remove 'www', insert sub-domain In my mind the logic is: INPUT = Full Url = http://www.domain.com/page If INPUT contains HTTPS Then check Full URL, does it contain 'secure'? If YES do nothing, if no add 'secure' If INPUT contains 'www' remove 'www' The certificate is not a wild card (e.g. top level domain) and is issues to: https://secure.domain.com/ The website could also be hosted in a staging environment. E.g. https://secure.environment.domain.com/ I do not have control over 'environment' or 'domain' or the 'tld'.   I'm writing a rule in my htaccess that basically says this: If the request is for the homepage And a cookie has not been set Rewrite the page with /addCookie.php Then in addCookie.php, we set the cookie and redirect back to the homepage. This is all fine, but if the user doesn't accept cookies, we get an infinite loop of redirects. I'm new to mod_rewrite, I've done a lot of searching, but can't break the loop.   what i want to do is to redirect all visitors going to example.com to www.example.com.it seems a very common task but for some reason it is not working for this specific site .it always points to the default one.   So, we have a situation where we would like to be able to redirect (ignoring original destination) emails coming through out exchange server (locally sent) to a different email address. The situation is as follows: Testing a new server, this hosts a lot of our custom applications / scheduled tasks (as does the production version of this server). Instead of changing config files / parameters for these applications we'd rather leave them as they are, as we want to be as close to production as possible, however we don't want the emails go to the staff they would normally go to, we'd rather they were sent to a test email address where we are able to confirm the results. The emails look exactly like the production emails (same from / to / cc / bcc) except their source, hence why we'd like to know if the ability to redirect based on hostname exists. Cheers.

  I was trying to force my domain to redirect without www and could success through this code: .htaccess: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.domain\.com [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*) http://domain.com/$1 [R=301,L] however, this code is going to redirect all www to non-www, which is not what I want. I just want to make the main domain from www.mydomain.com to mydomain.com and the rest of the urls should be forced to www. any idea how to add or modify the code so I can achieve that through .htaccess ? Update: Thanks to all. I found out that swf file from piecemaker was corrupted and updated it with new one. so now it is all fine and works on both www and non-www. I'm still curious how to solve this issue anyways using .htaccess. Thanks again.

  I have openSUSE 11.3 installed. I'm using the openSUSE firewall configuration mechanism (/etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2). I have a http server application running on port 8080. I want the http service to be accessible using port 80. I created a redirect rule usign: FW_REDIRECT="0/0,0/0,tcp,80,8080" This works fine for every request coming from external. But it doesn't for local requests. (example: wget http://myserver/) Is there a way how I can tell the firewall to redirect local requests addressed for 80 to port 8080? (using the SUSE firewall configuration file)

  I come to you because I'm facing a really strange effect on my hosting. I currently manage a server contening a NGINX/PHP-CGI and a wordpress multisite in it. My sites are created using subsite.domaine.tld, for now, my three subsites are correctly accessibles through the url: subsite.domain.tld. My goal is to allow my subsite on the host domain to be access through their respective unique domain. For exemple: www.domainA.com would redirect to subsite1.host.domain.tld. If I do that using the following setting on the domainA Public DNS: www 10800 IN CNAME subsite1.host.domain.tld. When I try to access www.domainA.com I don't go to subsite1.host.domain.tld but instead I'm redirect to the Wordpress ROOT site where I create my Network (host.domain.tld). Is there a trick to deal with?

  I own a Linux-Apache site where I host exe files for download. Now, when a user clicks this link to my site (published on another site): http://mysite.com/downloads/file.exe I need to dynamically check their user agent and redirect them to either http://mysite.com/downloads/file-1.exe or http://mysite.com/downloads/file-2.exe It seems to me that I have to options: Put a .htaccess file stating that .exe files should be considered to be scripts. Then write a script that checks the user agent and redirects to a real exe placed in another folder. Call this script file.exe. Use Apache mod-rewrite to point file.exe to redirect.php. Which of these is better? Any other considerations? Thanks.
