• Converting Oracle date arithmetic to work in HSQLDB

  I'm trying to spot-test an Oracle backed database with hsqldb and dbunit, but I've run into a snag. The problem is with the following EJB-QL (simplified a bit): SELECT o FROM Offer o WHERE :nowTime BETWEEN o.startDate AND o.startDate + 7 This seems to only work in Oracle's version of SQL. What's the easiest way for me to convert this to work in both hsqldb and oracle? Assume that changing the two between arguments to named parameters is a very difficult refactor, so I'm going to favor answers that provides a more standardized analog to o.startdate + 7 EDIT: After doing some more research, it looks like Oracle converts the above snippet to o.startdate + INTERVAL '7' DAY which is apparently more standard, but doesn't work in HSQLDB.

  How can I prevent double encoding of html entities, or fix them programmatically? I am using the encode() function from the HTML::Entities perl module to encode HTML entities in user input. The problem here is that we also allow users to input HTML entities directly and these entities end up being double encoded. For example, a user may enter: Stackoverflow & Perl = Awesome&hellip; This ends up being encoded to Stackoverflow &amp; Perl = Awesome&amp;hellip; This renders in the browser as Stackoverflow & Perl = Awesome&hellip; We want this to render as Stackoverflow & Perl = Awesome... Is there a way to prevent this double encoding? Or is there a module or snippet of code that can easily correct these double encoding issues? Any help is greatly appreciated!

  I'm trying to use this code to draw a Bitmap directly onto a PictureBox: Bitmap bmp = (Bitmap)Bitmap.FromFile(@"C:\Users\Ken\Desktop\Load2.bmp"); Graphics grDest = Graphics.FromHwnd(pictureBox1.Handle); Graphics grSrc = Graphics.FromImage(bmp); IntPtr hdcDest = grDest.GetHdc(); IntPtr hdcSrc = grSrc.GetHdc(); BitBlt(hdcDest, 0, 0, pictureBox1.Width, pictureBox1.Height, hdcSrc, 0, 0, (uint)TernaryRasterOperations.SRCCOPY); // 0x00CC0020 grDest.ReleaseHdc(hdcDest); grSrc.ReleaseHdc(hdcSrc); but instead of rendering the Bitmap's contents it just draws a solid block of nearly-black. I'm pretty sure the problem is with the source hDC, because if I change SRCCOPY to WHITENESS in the above code, it draws a solid white block, as expected.   I have some code that loads the serial ports into a combo-box: List<String> tList = new List<String>(); comboBoxComPort.Items.Clear(); foreach (string s in SerialPort.GetPortNames()) { tList.Add(s); } tList.Sort(); comboBoxComPort.Items.Add("Select COM port..."); comboBoxComPort.Items.AddRange(tList.ToArray()); comboBoxComPort.SelectedIndex = 0; I would like to add the port descriptions (similar to what are shown for the COM ports in the Device Manager) to the list and sort the items in the list that are after index 0 (solved: see above snippet). Does anyone have any suggestions for adding the port descriptions? I am using Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition (.NET 2.0). Any thoughts you may have would be appreciated. Thanks.

  I have some ASP code that I've "inherited" from my predecessor (no, it's not an option to update it at this time...It would take an act of not only Congress, but every other foreign country too) and I'm having an issue sending mail on one of the pages. It is an almost identical code snippet from the other page, but this one throws an error when I try to 'Send'. • Character Encoding problem?

  Hi, In my mysql database I have the following information in a page name field. ç,Ç,ö,Ö,ü,Ü,i,I,s,S,g,G If I do a phpmyadmin dump the above is exported. I am using a different php script and instead of the above I am getting this. "\303\247,\303\207,\303\266,\303\226,\303\274,\303\234,\304\261,\304\260,\305\237,\305\236,\304\237,\304\236" This is the snippet which is generating the output. $data_sql = "SELECT * FROM ".$table_name; $data_res = @mysql_query($data_sql); while($data_row = @mysql_fetch_array($data_res,MYSQL_NUM)) { print_r($data_row); } How can I modify this to make sure that the data is correct? Is some sort of php function required? Do I need to do something to the file? Any advice is much appreciated.

• Javascript top variable in IE8

  I am trying to reference a javascript function in a .js file loaded in my main page from an iframe using the 'top' variable. It works in FF, Safari, and IE6 but not in IE8. The snippet is (assigned to onmouseover): top.set_image(this, 'images/login_h.png') Where set_image is my function. The error is "Object does not support this function" Also, I have been looking for the definition of top. I can't find it in the ECMAScript specification or the w3schools site and Google is unhelpful (who'da thunk top was a common word?).

  Hello Stackers Does anyone have an idea on how to include or input the page numbers in the excel sheet generated using C# code. I use the libraries available in Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel to generate the file. However by default in the output i cannot see the page numbers. I know to enable this via excel options (View -- Header and Footer ...) but i want to automate this via C#. Is this possible, if yes kindly share the snippet for the same. Thanks Constant Learner

  It is actually useful for me to store some files in EXE to copy to selected location. I'm generating HTML and JS files and need to copy some CSS, JS and GIFs. Snippet System.IO.File.WriteAllBytes(@"C:\MyFile.bin", ProjectNamespace.Properties.Resources.MyFile); doesn't work for me! On "WriteAllBytes" it says: "cannot convert from 'System.Drawing.Bitmap' to 'byte[]'" for image and "cannot convert from 'string' to 'byte[]'" for text file. Help! UPDATE: Solved below.

• How can i bundle other files when using cx_freeze?

  I'm using Python 2.6 and cx_Freeze 4.1.2 on a Windows system. I've created the setup.py to build my executable and everything works fine. When cx_Freeze runs it movies everything to the build directory. I have some other files that i would like included in my build directory. How can i do this? • Passing parameter map (list of values) to JQuery

  Hello, to initialize a javascript loaded grid, I need to pass a list of values from controller/gsp. Since the javascript is activated once the page is rendered/loaded, there may not be a direct way to do it. 2 possibilities 1. do an ajax call, and retrieve the list of values from the server 2. store the list in html as a hidden element, and read it from javascript. option 2 seems better as it avoids few calls back to server. So, which control should I use for a list of values? Any jQuery code snippet to read it back into array/list. thanks in advance.

• In windbg, how do I get a heap header address from !heap -l results?

  I am playing around with windbg's !heap command, particular the "-l" switch which detects memory leaks. When -l does detect a leak, I am having problems navigating from its results to a stack trace for the source of the leak. Here is a snippet of the results from !heap -l 0:066 !heap -l Searching the memory for potential unreachable busy blocks. But the output for !heap -l doesn't specify a header address! It's only specififying Entry, User, Heap, and Segment. I've racked my brain looking over the other commands but can't figure out how to get the header address from any of these fields. Can someone help?

• What is the `name` keyword in JavaScript?

  When I typed this apparently innocent snippet of code: values.name gedit highlighted name as a keyword. However, name is not listed by the pages linked to by an answer to a question about reserved keywords. I also did a couple trivial tests in SpiderMonkey, but name seemed to act like an ordinary identifier. A Google search didn't tell me much either. However, I did find a page listing name in "Other JavaScript Keywords". My guess is that name is a function or a member of some DOM element and does not intrude on the namespace. Is name really a keyword in JavaScript? If so, what does it do?

• How do I open an already opened file with a .net StreamReader?

  I have some .csv files which I'm using as part of a test bench. I can open them and read them without any problems unless I've already got the file open in Excel in which case I get an IOException: System.IO.IOException : The process cannot access the file 'TestData.csv' because it is being used by another process. This is a snippet from the test bench: using (CsvReader csv = new CsvReader(new StreamReader(new FileStream(fullFilePath, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read)), false)) { // Process the file } Is this a limitation of StreamReader? I can open the file in other applications (Notepad++ for example) so it can't be an O/S problem. Maybe I need to use some other class? If anyone knows how I can get round this (aside from closing excel!) I'd be very grateful.

  Hi, how do I pass a 2-dimensional array from javascript to ruby, please? The best I could get on server side is something like {"1"=>"[object Object]", "2"=>"[object Object]"} I tried to add JSON.stringify on client side and JSON.parse on server side, but the first resulted in {"{\"1\":{\"name\":\"client_1\",\"note\":\"bigboy\"},\"2\":{\"name\":\"client_2\",\"note\":\"smallboy\"}}"=>nil} while the latter has thrown a TypeError - can't convert Hash into String. Could anyone help, or maybe post a short snippet of correct code, please? Thank you
