  • Trying to cat files - unrecognized wildcard

    - by Barb
Hello, I am trying to create a file that contains all of the code of an app. I have created a file called catlist.txt so that the files are added in the order I need them. A snippet of my catlist.txt: app/controllers/application_controller.rb app/views/layouts/* app/models/account.rb app/controllers/accounts_controller.rb app/views/accounts/* When I run the command the files that are explicitly listed get added but the wildcard files do not. cat catlist.txt|xargs cat > fullcode I get cat: app/views/layouts/*: No such file or directory cat: app/views/accounts/*: No such file or directory Can someone help me with this. If there is an easier method I am open to all suggestions. Barb

  • Parsing atom/rss feed containing multiple <link> tags with Haml on RoR

    - by fenderplayer
So, firstly, heres an atom feed snippet which i am trying to parse: // http://somelink.com/atom <feed xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom"> <entry> <title>Title Here</title> <link href="http://somelink.com/link1&amp;amp;ref=rss" rel="alternate" /> <link href="http://somelink.com/link2&amp;amp;ref=rss" rel="tag:somelink.com/apply_url"/> ... </entry> i pull the atom feed like so, // In controller index method @rss = SimpleRSS.parse open('http://somelink.com/atom') Then i output the response in the view, which i am writing using haml, as follows: - @rss.entries.each do |item| .title-div = item.title .title-link = item.link //outputs the first link I could run a second loop for the links but is there a way to get the second link without it? Like reading the "rel" attribute and outputting the correct link? How do i do this in haml/rails?

  • CSharpCodeProvider: Why is a result of compilation out of context when debugging

    - by epitka
I have following code snippet that i use to compile class at the run time. //now compile the runner var codeProvider = new CSharpCodeProvider( new Dictionary<string, string>() { { "CompilerVersion", "v3.5" } }); string[] references = new string[] { "System.dll", "System.Core.dll", "System.Core.dll" }; CompilerParameters parameters = new CompilerParameters(); parameters.ReferencedAssemblies.AddRange(references); parameters.OutputAssembly = "CGRunner"; parameters.GenerateInMemory = true; parameters.TreatWarningsAsErrors = true; CompilerResults result = codeProvider.CompileAssemblyFromSource(parameters, template); Whenever I step through the code to debug the unit test, and I try to see what is the value of "result" I get an error that name "result" does not exist in current context. Why?

  • [Ruby] Why do I have to URI.encode even safe characters for Net::HTTP requests?

    - by Matthias
I was trying to send a GET request to Twitter (user ID replaced for privacy reasons) using Net::HTTP: url = URI.parse("http://api.twitter.com/1/friends/ids.json?user_id=12345") resp = Net::HTTP.get_response(url) this throws an exception in Net::HTTP: NoMethodError: undefined method empty?' for #<URI::HTTP:0x59f5c04> from /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:1470:ininitialize' just by coincidence, I stumbled upon a similar code snippet, which used URI.encode prior to URI.parse, so I copied that and tried again: url = URI.parse(URI.encode("http://api.twitter.com/1/friends/ids.json?user_id=12345")) resp = Net::HTTP.get_response(url) now it works fine, but why? There are no reserved characters that need escaping in the URL I mentioned, so why do I have to call URI.encode for get_response to succeed?

  • detachEvent not working with named anonymous functions

    - by Polshgiant
I ran into a problem in IE8 today (Note that I only need to support IE) that I can't seem to explain: detachEvent wouldn't work when using a named anonymous function handler. document.getElementById('iframeid').attachEvent("onreadystatechange", function onIframeReadyStateChange() { if (event.srcElement.readyState != "complete") { return; } event.srcElement.detachEvent("onreadystatechange", onIframeReadyStateChange); // code here was running every time my iframe's readyState // changed to "complete" instead of only the first time }); I eventually figured out that changing onIframeReadyStateChange to use arguments.callee (which I normally avoid) instead solved the issue: document.getElementById('iframeid').attachEvent("onreadystatechange", function () { if (event.srcElement.readyState != "complete") { return; } event.srcElement.detachEvent("onreadystatechange", arguments.callee); // code here now runs only once no matter how many times the // iframe's readyState changes to "complete" }); What gives?! Shouldn't the first snippet work fine?

  • PHP SoapClient: Problems with Distributed WSDL File

    - by Dave
Hello, I have a problem using a distributed WSDL File ( scheme / other definitions are declared outside the actual wsdl) with php's SoapClient. This is the Fault Message I get: SOAP-ERROR: Parsing WSDL: 'getSomeInfo' already defined. After some googling , it seems to be a bug inside php as someone else discovered exactly the same problem: http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=45282 Has there been any bug fix(es)? Any solution to work around this bug? PS: I think posting a code snippet is senseless, since the invocation of the SoapClient ctor using just the WSDL is the only that fails. Thank you in advance, Dave

  • is there a way to generate pdf containing non-ascii symbols with pisa from django template?

    - by mihailt
Hi. i'm trying to generate a pdf from template using this snippet: def write_pdf(template_src, context_dict): template = get_template(template_src) context = Context(context_dict) html = template.render(context) result = StringIO.StringIO() pdf = pisa.pisaDocument(StringIO.StringIO(html.encode("UTF-8")), result) if not pdf.err: return http.HttpResponse(result.getvalue(), mimetype='application/pdf') except Exception('PDF error') but all non-latin symbols are not showing correctly, the template and view are saved using utf-8 encoding. i've tried saving view as ANSI and then to user unicode(html,"UTF-8"), but it throws TypeError. Also i thought that maybe it's because the default fonts somehow do not support utf-8 so according to pisa documentation i tried to set fontface in template body in style section. that still gave no results. Does any one have some ideas how to solve this issue?

  • how to store BigInteger values in oracle database.

    - by Bipul
I have connected Java program to Oracle database using JDBC. I want to store BigInteger values(512 bits) in the database. What should be the type of the column? I m trying like this: I have taken a column of number type in the database. I converted BigInteger to BigDecimal like this: BigInteger b=new BigInteger("5779857570957802579079"); Number n =b; BigDecimal d=(BigDecimal)n; PreparedStatement pstmt=con.prepareStatemant("insert into database values(?,?)"); pstmt.setString(1,"john"); pstmt.setBigDecimal(2,d); I am getting the following exception: javax.servlet.ServletException: java.lang.ClassCastException: java.math.BigInteger cannot be cast to java.math.BigDecimal root cause java.lang.ClassCastException: java.math.BigInteger cannot be cast to java.math.BigDecimal Is there anything wrong in this code snippet? If there is, please suggest other methods.

  • mvvm-light: Should we merge Cleanup methods in locator?

    - by mark smith
Hi there, when creating a new ViewModel within the locator class using the snippet it creates a Cleanup Method but there is already one available from the Main so hence an error.... Should we merge them all?? Or should we be renaming the method to Cleanup[Name of viewmodel] for example. I am a little confused here Another question i would like to ask is regards to the naming conventions. I tried to follow the naming convention used with "MAIN"... hence i have CreateLogin, ClearLogin, Login (non static property for binding) etc etc.. Would it not be better to use CreateLoginViewModel, ClearLoginViewModel etc?? Just curious Thanks

  • How do laziness and I/O work together in Haskell?

    - by Bill
I'm trying to get a deeper understanding of laziness in Haskell. I was imagining the following snippet today: data Image = Image { name :: String, pixels :: String } image :: String -> IO Image image path = Image path <$> readFile path The appeal here is that I could simply create an Image instance and pass it around; if I need the image data it would be read lazily - if not, the time and memory cost of reading the file would be avoided: main = do image <- image "file" putStrLn $ length $ pixels image But is that how it actually works? How is laziness compatible with IO? Will readFile be called regardless of whether I access pixels image or will the runtime leave that thunk unevaluated if I never refer to it? If the image is indeed read lazily, then isn't it possible I/O actions could occur out of order? For example, what if immediately after calling image I delete the file? Now the putStrLn call will find nothing when it tries to read.

  • How to demonstrate java multithreading visibility problems?

    - by Joe23
If variables in Java are accessed from multiple threads, one must ensure that they are safely published. This usually means using synchronizedor volatile. I have got the impression, that some of my colleagues do not take this issue seriously, since they "never heard of volatile before and their programs have worked for years". So my question is: Can someone provide an example Java program/snippet, that reliably shows data visibility problems. I think running a program and seeing the unexpected NPE or stale variable value would help more, than just theoretic explanations, that cannot be demonstrated. Thanks a lot for your help!

  • Lost in UTF-8 hell. (Django and Python)

    - by user140314
I am working through the Django RSS reader project here. The RSS feed will read something like "OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — James Harden let". The RSS feed's encoding reads encoding="UTF-8" so I believe I am passing utf-8 to markdown in the code snippet below. The em dash is where it chokes. I get the Django error of "'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\u2014' in position 109: ordinal not in range(128)" which is an UnicodeEncodeError. In the variables being passed I see "OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) \u2014 James Harden". The code line that is not working is: content = content.encode(parsed_feed.encoding, "xmlcharrefreplace") I am using markdown 2.0, django 1.1, and python 2.4. What is the magic sequence of encoding and decoding that I need to do to make this work? Thanks.

  • How long does it take to iterate through a long loop?

    - by Carl Rosenberger
    On a modern 64-Bit machine, how long do you think it takes to iterate through all the positive long numbers? Below is a code snippet in Java to demonstrate the idea. Without running the code yourself, how long do you think this code is going to run? How long will similar code run in other programming languages? public class LongLoop { public static void main(String[] args) { long startTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); for (long i = 0; i < Long.MAX_VALUE; i++) { // do nothing, just loop } long stopTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); long duration = stopTime - startTime; System.out.println("Time taken: " + duration + " milliseconds"); } }

  • Changing the x-axis of seqlogo figures in matlab

    - by JudoWill
I'm making a large number of seqlogos programatically. They are hundreds of columns wide and so running a seqlogo normally creates letters that are too thin to see. I've noticed that I only care about a few of these columns (not necessarily consecutive columns) ... most are noise but some are highly conserved. I use something like this snippet: conserve_cell = seqlogo(wide_seqs, 'displaylogo', false); high_bit_cols = any(conserve_cell{2}>1.0,1); [~, handle] = seqlogo(wide_seqs(:,high_bit_cols )); Although when I do this I lose the information about which columns the data came from. Normally I would just change the x-axis of the seqlogo. However, seqlogo's are some sort of crazy java-based object and calls like: set(handle, 'xticklabel', num2str(find(high_bit_cols))) don't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Will

  • ClientLogin for Picasa Web Albums Data API with a Google App Domain login

    - by mlsteeves
    I'm using the Picasa Web Albums Data API to access users' photo albums from a WPF application. I've followed the code located here: http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/clientlogin.html I have created a Picasa Web Albums account with a Google Apps (hosted) account. Whenever I tried logging in with my WPF application, I get the "BadAuthentication" error code returned. Hoping someone has an idea what I'm doing wrong. Note, that this works when I login with a normal Google account. Here is a snippet of my code: GDataGAuthRequestFactory authFactory = new GDataGAuthRequestFactory("lh2", _appName); authFactory.AccountType = "HOSTED_OR_GOOGLE"; _picasaService = new PicasaService(authFactory.ApplicationName); _picasaService.RequestFactory = authFactory; _picasaService.setUserCredentials(username, password); return _picasaService.QueryAuthenticationToken();

  • MySQL LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE example in python?

    - by David Perron
I am looking for a syntax definition, example, sample code, wiki, etc. for executing a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE command from python. I believe I can use mysqlimport as well if that is available, so any feedback (and code snippet) on which is the better route, is welcome. A Google search is not turning up much in the way of current info The goal in either case is the same: Automate loading hundreds of files with a known naming convention & date structure, into a single MySQL table. • C++ Ambiguous call to Overloaded Function (const variety)

    - by Joe
After researching this online, I've only found solutions that don't apply to my problem, so please bear with me. Code snippet: typedef my_map_t<int const *, float> _test; my_map_t::const_iterator not_found = my_map_t::end(); if (_test.find(&iKeyValue) == not_found) { _test[iKeyValue] = 4 + 5; // not the actual code, but here for simplicity } The compiler complains that there's an ambiguous call to my_map_t::end(). This makes sense, because the only difference is the return type. Output: error C2668: 'std::_Tree<_Traits>::end' : ambiguous call to overloaded function Normally you can disambiguate the call by casting the parameters, but end() has no parameters. Any ideas?

  • Generate an HTML table from an array of hashes in Ruby

What's the best way (ideally a gem, but a code snippet if necessary) to generate an HTML table from an array of hashes? For example, this array of hashes: [{"col1"=>"v1", "col2"=>"v2"}, {"col1"=>"v3", "col2"=>"v4"}] Should produce this table: <table> <tr><th>col1</th><th>col2</th></tr> <tr><td>v1</td><td>v2</td></tr> <tr><td>v3</td><td>v4</td></tr> </table>

  • How do I do a postback to a CGI service

    - by TheLearner
I am building a C# client for a CGI service (not sure what its called exactly). It accepts a bunch of XML and spits out a response. I have tested it straight in Firefox and it works (see below). Now I am not sure how to do this in C# code though? Does anyone have a helpful snippet of code, I can't imagine it would be that difficult? http://www.travelcommunications.co.uk/cgi-bin/d3web_gzip.ssh?%3CTCOML%20version=%22NEWFORMAT%22%3E%3CTransferOnly%3E%3CAvailability%3E%3CRequest%3E%3CAgentCode%3ETEST%3C/AgentCode%3E%3CAgentType%3ETA%3C/AgentType%3E%3CDeparturePointCode%3EALC%3C/DeparturePointCode%3E%3CDeparturePointType%3EAIRPORT%3C/DeparturePointType%3E%3CArrivalPointCode%3EBEN%3C/ArrivalPointCode%3E%3CArrivalPointType%3ERESORT%3C/ArrivalPointType%3E%3CSectorType%3ERETURN%3C/SectorType%3E%3CArrDate%3E10.10.10%3C/ArrDate%3E%3CArrTime%3E10:00%3C/ArrTime%3E%3CRetDate%3E17.10.10%3C/RetDate%3E%3CRetTime%3E10:00%3C/RetTime%3E%3CBrochure%3E001%3C/Brochure%3E%3CAdults%3E2%3C/Adults%3E%3CChildren%3E0%3C/Children%3E%3CInfants%3E0%3C/Infants%3E%3CCurrencyCode%3EUKL%3C/CurrencyCode%3E%3C/Request%3E%3C/Availability%3E%3C/TransferOnly%3E%3C/TCOML%3E

  • Custom QGraphicsItems not compiling and gives "object is private" error

    - by bahree
Hi, I am trying to create a Custom QGraphicsItem button as shown by Fred here. The code which he posted can be found here. The problem is when I try and compile the code I get the following two errors: /usr/include/qt4/QtGui/qgraphicsitem.h ‘QGraphicsItem::QGraphicsItem(const QGraphicsItem&)’ is private /usr/include/qt4/QtCore/qobject.h ‘QObject::QObject(const QObject&)’ is private Here is the code snippet which essentially is the same as that in the sample above. The error is on the class deceleration. class MyButton : public QObject, public QGraphicsItem { Q_OBJECT Q_INTERFACES(QGraphicsItem) public: MyButton(QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); MyButton(const QString normal, const QString pressed = "", QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); .... } Interestingly the other sample as shown here works fine. The sample code for that can be found here. Any idea what is wrong? Thanks in advance.
