• protecting my web page and folder from external using .htaccess and .htpassword in php

  Hai I want to protect a folder (protect) and the files inside that folder. I have created a .htaccess file and put the following code. AuthName "Myfolder" AuthType Basic AuthUserFile url/protect/.htpasswd Require valid-user Also created a .htpassword file which contain username:password When I run my URL http://localhost/url/protect, I got a pop up asking username and password, I entered username as username and password as password. After that I got an error page "server error 500" "The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI script. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster." Why this happened?. Any thing wrong here? Anything needs to see my pages under the folder. Please give me the answer.

• How to specify execution time of x86 and PowerPC instructions?

I have to approximate execution time of PowerPC and x86 assembler code.I understand that I cannot compute exact it dependson many problems (current processor state - x86 processor dicides internal instructions in microinstructions, memory access time obtainig code from cache of from slower memory etc.). I found some information in Intel Optimizaction reference (APPENDIX C), but it does not provide information about all general purpose instructions. Is there any complete reference about it? What about PowerPC processors? Where can I fund such information?

• Can't create admin user on Heroku

  I am new to rails and I have gone through Kevin Skoglund's Ruby on Rails 3 Essential Training course on Lynda.com. Through the course you set up a simple cms, which I did. It doesn't cover Git or deployment but I've pushed my simple cms to github (https://github.com/nick5a1/Simple_CMS) and deployed to Heroku (http://nkarrasch.herokuapp.com/). In order to deploy to Heroku I followed the Heroku setup guide (https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/rails3) and switched my database from MySQL to PostgreSQL. As instructed I changed gen'mysql2' to gen 'sqlite3' in my Gemfile and ran bundle install before pushing. I then ran heroku run rake db:migrate. I'm running into 2 problems. When I try to log in (http://nkarrasch.herokuapp.com/access) I get an error "We're sorry, but something went wrong". I should instead be getting a flash message with invalid username/password combination. This is what I'm getting on my test environment on my local machine. Secondly, when I log into the Heroku console to create and create an admin user, when I try to save that user I get the following error: irb(main):004:0> user.save (1.2ms) BEGIN AdminUser Exists (1.9ms) SELECT 1 AS one FROM "admin_users" WHERE "admin_users"."username" = 'Nick5a1' LIMIT 1 (1.7ms) ROLLBACK => false Any advice on how to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated :). • Java Compiler - Load Method

  So I have been working on a java project where the goal is to create a virtual computer. So I am basically done but with one problem. I have created a compiler which translates a txt document with assembly code in it and my compiler has created a new-file with this code written as machine executable ints. But now I need to write a load method that reads these ints and runs the program but I am having difficulty doing this. Any help is much appreciated....also this is not homework if you are thinking this. The project was simply to make a compiler and now I am trying to complete it for my own interest. Thanks. • TFS 2012 fresh install on fresh Windows Server 2008 warning that reporting services are not installed

  I am attempting to evaluate TFS 2012 for our organization but cannot seem to get past the first step of configuring the server using the "Standard Single Server" configuration wizard. In particular, in the service account selection screen, I am warned that: Reporting services are not installed on this computer. You need to install Reporting Services to complete TFS installation with this wizard. This is disheartening because the way I understand it, this should have been installed with the default TFS installation (in fact, no installation options are even provided) and this is a fresh and up-to-date Windows Server 2008 VM. I know I could install SQL Server 2008 or 2012 from MSDN, but shouldn't this work "out of the box?" I'd really rather use the default, small, integrated version of SQL Server that comes with TFS 2012 rather than rolling my own. If it matters, this server is joined to a domain and I am running TFS installation wizard as a domain administrator.

• Where should I put code that is supposed to fire AFTER the view has loaded?

  I’m writing an objective-c program that does some calculations based on time and will eventually updates UILabels each second. To explain the concept here’s some simplified code, which I’ve placed into the viewDidLoad of the class that handles the view. (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // how do i make this stuff happen AFTER the view has loaded?? int a = 1; while (a < 10) { NSLog(@"doing something"); a = a + 1; sleep(1); } } My problem is that the code halts the loading of the view until the loop is all complete (in this case 10 seconds). Where should I put code that I want to fire AFTER the view has finished loading? newbie question I know =/

  I want to load data from my web server, I want it be the AJAX/Comet way, my web-server long holds the request, response it until something happened. • Flipping issue when interpolating Rotations using Quaternions

  I use slerp to interpolate between two quaternions representing rotations. The resulting rotation is then extracted as Euler angles to be fed into a graphics lib. This kind of works, but I have the following problem; when rotating around two (one works just fine) axes in the direction of the green arrow as shown in the left frame here the rotation soon jumps around to rotate from the opposite site to the opposite visual direction, as indicated by the red arrow in the right frame. This may be logical from a mathematical perspective (although not to me), but it is undesired. How could I achieve an interpolation with no visual flipping and changing of directions when rotating around more than one axis, following the green arrow at all times until the interpolation is complete? • Is there a Cart/Catalog app out there that isnt a full site?

  Every solution i come across seems to be a complete store with far too many options and too much functionality. I can write my own cart to get the minimal functionality i need out of the frontend, im just trying to cut out the time writing a complex backend. What im really looking for is something that offers the backend functionality for a product catalog, order management, etc. while providing a smooth and consistent API to access the data for my completely custom frontend application. The frontend will be in PHP so the API would have to be native PHP or some kind of web service interface i can create my own php models around. It would need to run on a LAMP stack and would preferably be written in PHP, Python, or Ruby just in case i need to customize the backend (she curently has ZenCart and hates it - says its far too complicated and sophisticated for her needs). Does such a thing exist? Or what would be the next best thing?

• Starting new transaction within existing one in Spring bean

  We have: @Transactional(propagation = Propagation.REQUIRED) public class MyClass implementes MyInterface { ... MyInterface has a single method: go(). When go() executes we start a new transaction which commits/rollbacks when the method is complete - this is fine. Now let's say in go() we call a private method in MyClass that has @Transactional(propagation = Propagation.REQUIRES_NEW. It seems that Spring "ignores" the REQUIRES_NEW annotation and does not start a new transaction. I believe this is because Spring AOP operates on the interface level (MyInterface) and does not intercept any calls to MyClass methods. Is this correct? Is there any way to start a new transaction within the go() transaction? Is the only way to call another Spring managed bean that has transactions configured as REQUIRES_NEW?

  Hi All - I’m a recent user of Codeigniter and am developing a simple backend CMS to manage pages. Based on a URL (in this example I have hidden “index.php”) : mysite.com/pagename I would like the system to detect if there is a value of “pagename” in my database, if there is, I need the system to re-route to a custom controller (eg: Pagemaker) and if there is no record called pagename, just do it’s normal thing (i.e. find a controller called pagename) Currently I have: $route['(:any)'] = "pagemaker/create/$1"; whereby all requests are forwarded to my custom function. However I want to change this structure so that if the page does NOT exist in the db, the traditional codeigniter request process is followed. Can anyone offer any advice about how to complete this? Or any advice about routing custom CMS’s in codeigniter in general?

  I am starting a silverlight project where I have tests for students to complete. I want to have some sort of framework so I can build the tests and store them in a database, delivering the content dynamically so I can continually develop new types of tests without having to re-deply the application. The content will have to be more than just xaml, as there may need to be some logic to determine if answers are correct, or to do some random generation of questions. I'm looking for suggestions on how to go about building a framework that supports this. Are there some best practices, or examples? Should each test type just be a seperate silverlight control, or should I use 1 silverlight "container" application that can display dynamic content?

• Events raised by BackgroundWorker not executed on expected thread

  A winforms dialog is using BackgroundWorker to perform some asynchronous operations with significant success. On occasion, the async process being run by the background worker will need to raise events to the winforms app for user response (a message that asks the user if they wish to cancel), the response of which captured in an CancelEventArgs type of the event. Being an implementation of threading, I would have expected the RaiseEvent of the worker to fire, and then the worker would continue, hence requiring me to pause the worker until the response is received. Instead however, the worker is held to wait for the code executed by the raise event to complete. It seems like method I am calling via the event call is actually on the worker thread used by the background worker, and I am surprised, since I expected to see it on the Main Thread which is where the mainform is running. Also surprisingly, there are no cross thread exceptions thrown. Can somebody please explain why this is not as I expect?

• Visual Studio Add-in - How do I create an Installer?

  I have made a Visual Studio Add-in as part of a project I'm working on using web services. When I created the new Add-in project in visual studio it generated all the code required and installed the blank add-in on my pc (I assume). Since this is a large project we are using svn to manage the code base and once I had done some of the work on the Add-in I commited it, then checked it out on a different pc and attempted to run it. However on the other pc when I run the add-in in debug mode, the tools entry for the add-in is not present and I can't run the add-in. Am I right in assuming that when I created the project on the other pc it installed the plugin aswell?? and does that mean that I will need to create an installer for any other pcs I wish to use? Obviously at some point I intend on making an installer anyway but not untill after the development of the addin is complete.

  I've created a class in Javscript using the prototype Class.Create complete with the initialize function and a few other functions. However, in one of my functions I want to reference another function in the same class, but cannot seem to get the syntax correct. e.g. var sampleClass = Class.create({ initialize: function(){ //do the init work here }, functionA: function(){ //do some more stuff here } functionB: function(){ //Do some stuff functionA() } } I've tried calling functionA() , this.functionA() but nothing works I just get errors. I know how to call the functions externally when the class has been instantiated, but not reference a function from within the class itself. Thanks

• How can I call a method on a custom object created in JavaScript using C#?

  I have a WebBrowser control. I have added some JavaScript into the head tag and I can see it is working as expected by adding an alert. Inside of this js I am creating a function and adding some members to it's prototype like so: function test() { } test.prototype.run = function() { alert('success!') } function createTest() { return new test() } Then back inside of C# I am doing: dynamic test = this.browser.InvokeScript("createTest"); test.run(); I can see that the test object is some ComObject but when I call run() nothing happens. I get no error but nothing happens. Does anyone know how to call this type of custom object? Also suppose I wanted to get rid of the createTest() method, how can I create a new instance of test from C#? Also, for bonus points, is there anything special I need to know about attaching events to this custom object (on say a 'complete' member) such that it will callback into my C# code?

• Upgrading Visual Studio web service project says to "convert to web application."

  I have a Visual Studio 2003 web service project that I have to upgrade to Visual Studio 2008. After I have run the conversion wizard, I get this message: You have completed the first step in converting your Visual Studio .NET 2003 web project. To complete the conversion, please select your project in the Solution Explorer and choose the 'Convert to Web Application' context menu item. I got this message with another project, which was originally a "web site", rather than an ASP.NET "web application". It made sense to in that case (sort of). Why, however, would I not just want to have this project remain a web service project? Additionally, when I follow the instructions and select "Convert to Web Application" from the context menu, I don't get any feedback that anything has changed. Should it have? If so, what?

• WordPress front page (homepage) fails to redirect when static front page is set.

  I have configured WordPress to display a static front page as described here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Reading_SubPanel#Reading_Settings When save changes and try to visit my front page, my browser displays the following error: "The page isn't redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." Disabling cookies does not remedy the situation. I'm using the theme, Constructor (http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/constructor), which I suspect may be contributing to the problem. How can I make WordPress properly display my front page?

I have found samples on the internets, but they all seem to deal with a counter. I'm not sure if my problem involved a counter. I need the T-SQL equivalent of a foreach Currently, my first stored procedure stores its recordset in a temp table, #mytemp. • Java Convert ColorSpace of BufferedImage to CS_GRAY without using ConvertColorOp

  I know its possible to convert an image to CS_GRAY using public static BufferedImage getGrayBufferedImage(BufferedImage image) { BufferedImageOp op = new ColorConvertOp(ColorSpace .getInstance(ColorSpace.CS_GRAY), null); BufferedImage sourceImgGray = op.filter(image, null); return sourceImgGray; } however, this is a chokepoint of my entire program. I need to do this often, on 800x600 pixel images and takes about 200-300ms for this operation to complete, on average. I know I can do this alot faster by using one for loop to loop through the image data and set it right away. The code above on the other hand constructs a brand new 800x600 BufferedImage that is gray scale. I would rather just transform the image I pass in. Does any one know how to do this with a for loop and given that the image is RGB color space?

However, I am not able to use class_getInstanceMethod correctly based on snippets on the Internet. Have things changed in OSX 10.6 and/or ObjC2? • AsyncTask and onDestroy...

  I have an activity initiate a few AsyncTask downloads. After two of the three finish, it issues an Intent to load the next activity while still finishing up the last download. Obviously in onDestroy() i will call cancel() on all AsyncTask objects. If the OS tries to destroy my activity after the next activity starts, it will call and begin executing onDestroy in the apps UI thread, right? It won't wait for that AsyncTask to complete, correct? In all cases it will ultimately call onDestroy(), in turn canceling all AsyncTasks?

  There are plenty of programming languages out there, as you all may know. I am primarily looking for a list of programming languages WITH some very neat proof of concepts. I would really like to learn a new language, but whenever I dive into something new and popular, it isn't what I expected. Any tutorial out there will give you code, small examples, but won't show you the true power of the language. I am looking for examples that run entirely on the language that it is exemplifying. For example, If I said C#, I could possibly show you a complete C# app with backend queries, reports, tables, all with a nice interface. It would be completely reliant on the language that is provided, so no supporting languages. I understand that most languages are integrated with other languages in order to provide a richer application. Any links, charts, websites that may reflect this request is appreciated.
