• Form character encoding problems with special characters

  Hello I have a jsp with an html form. I set the content type like this: <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1" %> When I send special characters like á é í ó ú they are saved correctly in the database. My table charset is utf-8. I want to change iso-8859 to utf-8 like this to standardize my application and accept more special characters: <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8" %> but when I change it to utf-8 the special characters á é í ó ú are not saved correctly in the databse. When I try to save á it is saved as á In the server side I'm using Spring MVC. I'm getting the text field value like this: String strField = ServletRequestUtils.getStringParameter(request, "field");

  I have this function for adding options to a Select list: function addOption(selectbox, value, text, cl ) { var optn = document.createElement("OPTION"); optn.text = text; optn.value = value; if (cl==1){ optn.className = "nav_option_main"; } selectbox.options.add(optn); } I have just discovered the "optgroup" tag, but I don't know how to implement it to the drop list. The function above is called on another selectboxes "OnChange" event, to fill sub-select-box with the desired options. I don't think it should be too difficult to add the "optgroup" tag into this, or is it? Thanks and if you need more input let me know...

  Can anyone help. I am using a formview in VS 2005. I have different elements in my form databound to a database and I am performing an INSERT SQL statement. No problem. The problem is that I am trying to enter the current date into the SQL statement and I am having a problem. I can add <%now()% to the "Text" property of the asp:Textbox. But when I do, then I can't bind the textbox to a specific database column. How do I do both???? I can do this: <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox2" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Initiate_Date") %>' ></asp:TextBox> Or this: <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox2" runat="server" Text='<%# now() %>' ></asp:TextBox> But I don't know how to do both.

• C# WebClient - View source question

  I'm using a C# WebClient to post login details to a page and read the all the results. The page I am trying to load includes flash (which, in the browser, translates into HTML). I'm guessing it's flash to avoid being picked up by search engines??? The flash I am interested in is just text (not an image/video) etc and when I "View Selection Source" in firefox I do actually see the text, within HTML, that I want to see. (Interestingly when I view the source for the whole page I do not see the text, within HTML, that I want to see. Could this be related?) Currently after I have posted my login details, and loaded the HTML back, I see the page which does NOT show the flash HTML (as if I had viewed source for the whole page).   Hi! I had develop an intranet on CakePHP witch in one part generates a custom PDF using DOMPDF. The problem is that i have a memo field (mysql text) witch i print after getting the result from PHP nl2br function. The problems is that in some ocasions, this text is too long (even on font-size: 6px) and i need some way to make a page break (get again de header, and footer etc)... or maybe a nice way to get a second column to continue with the text inside. any ideas? thanks so much

  This may be a very dumb question but I can't seem to get it working. I use at many places the following syntax for dynamically binding a property of a control in aspx file to the resource entry, e.g. <SomeFunnyControl Text="<%$ Resources : ResClass, ResEntry %>" /> I want to do a similar thing with a class containing some constants, something like <SomeFunnyControl Text="<%= MyConstantsClass.MyStringConstant %>" /> But this doesn't seem to work, it simply sets the text to the exact expression without evaluating it. I am using ASP.NET 3.5 btw. I have tried the databinding approach but I get an HttpParseException saying Databinding expressions are only supported on objects that have a DataBinding event.

• How to structure (normalize?) a database of physical parameters?

  Hello: I have a collection of physical parameters associated with different items. For example: Item, p1, p2, p3 a, 1, 2, 3 b, 4, 5, 6 [...] where px stands for parameter x. I could go ahead and store the database exactly as presented; the schema would be CREATE TABLE t1 (item TEXT PRIMARY KEY, p1 FLOAT, p2 FLOAT, p3 FLOAT); I could retrieve the parameter p1 for all the items with the statement: SELECT p1 FROM t1; A second alternative is to have an schema like: CREATE TABLE t1 (id INT PRIMARY KEY, item TEXT, par TEXT, val FLOAT) This seems much simpler if you have many parameters (as I do). However, the parameter retrieval seems very awkward: SELECT val FROM t1 WHERE par == 'p1' What do you advice? Should go for the "pivoted" (first) version or the id, par, val (second) version? • WPF texbox focus when render to offscreen buffer

  i am rendering a textbox to an offscreen buffer using RenderTargetBitmap and i want to enter text into this textbox, however, i can't set the textbox focus (using Focus() has no effect - presumably because the canvas is not attached to a real window?) this has two consequenes: 1 the keyboard input doesn't get captured 2. even if i set the text manually using TextBox text and CaretIndex = index i dont get a caret because of the lack of focus. is there a way to make this focus somehow? and if not, i'd like to at least have the caret visible even if there is no focus, but can't see a way of doing this.

Approaches I'm aware of: Turn Prisoner numbers into text by having ="24601" and ="0.50" Only select rows 2 onwards as data, and then add in the labels once the graph has been created? Approaches that don't appear to work: Ask Excel to format the first row's numbers as text.

  Hello, I have a problem with the IE (what else?): I generate content with CSS which has also a background-image. I looks like that: #nav ul li:after { content: "--"; position: relative; z-index: 99; background: transparent url(image.png); color: transparent; } The text color is in non-IE-browsers transparent, but in all IE browsers it's black and you could see it. How could I make the text transparent/unvisible? I tried already: visibility - opacity - filter - text-indent ... But none did his job right, either it disappears (with it background which I need) or the attribute doesn't apply.

  This page in the Android documentation defines an element id as follows: <TextView android:id="@+id/label" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Type here:" /> However this page defines it as: <EditText id="text" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:textColor="@color/opaque_red" android:text="Hello, World!" /> I thought I had a decent understanding of what was going on until I saw this second example. In the first case, you need the + character so that id 'label' is added to the R file, correct? In the second case, would the EditText's id not be added to the R file because it does not contain the + character? Also, the second example does not include the android namespace on the id. Does having or not having the Android namespace affect whether that id will be added to the R file? Thanks for any clarification.
