• Large quotation marks in Word?

  Is there a simple way in MS Word to get large quotation marks tightly round a paragraph of text, like you might see in print media to mark a quote? If you simply increase the font size of the quote character, it moves too far away from the text it's accompanying. Worse, the first and last lines start to detach from the rest of the paragraph. Here's what I mean (this is Calibri I think): But this is the desired effect (can't do this in Word, had to chop it about in a paint package):

  Hi All, I'm using tiny mce for my project and want to validate the node inside the tiny mce. On click of a text element, let's say a paragraph with some id, I load editor for the element. But, sometimes if user replaces the whole content, the node and its HTML is lost. I want to retain this node and only the content is removed. The node can be a paragraph or heading or ul or ol. EDIT : I'm providing dummy text such as "Lorem epsum .....". User will be removing this dummy text and add his content. How can I accomplish this ?

• How do I increase copy/paste buffer size in Linux

  Hi all, I'm trying to copy and paste lines of code to the linux terminal. However, I've noticed that when the copied text is too long (let's say, 60 or more lines), it gets trimmed and altered in an apparently random way (e.g. some characters missing). I found the same problem in Ubuntu Karmic Koala, Fedora 10 and Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope. Any clue why this happens and if I can increase the size of safely copy/pasteable text? Thanks!

Using this LIBOMV text client, I am trying to record the update packets of that avatar and object that are being sent to my text client by the server. I get frequent update packets for the avatar as its velocity changes, but I do not get update packets for the object that frequently, although it has a changing velocity. • How do I get a div to float to the bottom of its container?

  I have floated images and inset boxes at the top of a container using float:right (or left) many times. Recently I hit a need to float a div at the bottom right corner of another div with the normal text wrap that you get with float (text wrapped above and to the left only). I thought this must be relatively easy even though float has no bottom value but I haven't been able to do it using a number of techniques and searching the web hasn't come up with anything other than using absolute positioning but this doesn't give the correct word wrap behaviour. I had thought this would be a very common design but apparently it isn't. If nobody has a suggestion I'll have to break my text up into separate boxes and align the div manually but that is rather precarious and I'd hate to have to do it on every page that needs it.

• Screen scraping C application without using OCR or DOM?

  We have a legacy system that is essentially a glorified telnet interface. We cannot use an alternative telnet client program to connect to the system since there are special features built into the client software they have provided us. I want to be able to screen scrape from this program, however that's proving very difficult. I have tried using WindowSpy and Spy++ to check the window text and it comes up blank. It's a custom C program written by the vendor (they have even disabled selecting text). I'm really looking for a free option and something I may perhaps be able to use in conjuction with a scripting language. It seems the only ways to grab text is directly from the Windows GDI or from memory, but that seems a little extreme. Can anyone recommend any software/DLLs that might be able to accomplish this? I'd be extremely appreciative.

  Hi All, I need to find the most efficient way of matching multiple regular expressions on a single block of text. To give an example of what I need, consider a block of text: "Hello World what a beautiful day" I want to replace Hello with "Bye" and "World" with Universe. I can always do this in a loop ofcourse, using something like String.replace functions availiable in various languages. However, I could have a huge block of text with multiple string patterns, that I need to match and replace. I was wondering if I can use Regular Expressions to do this efficiently or do I have to use a Parser like LALR. I need to do this in JavaScript, so if anyone knows tools that can get it done, it would be appreciated.

  How to get rid of uneven illumination from images, that contain text data, usually printed but may be handwritten? It can have some spots of lights because the light reflected while making picture. I've seen the Halcon program's segment_characters function that is doing this work perfectly, but it is not open source. I wish to convert an image to the image that has a constant illumination at background and more dark colored regions of text. So that binarization will be easy and without noise. The text is assumed to be dark colored than it's background. Any ideas?

I know how to use databinding to display a collection of person in a wpf list box and how to modify the listitemtemplate to customize how each person is displayed. Now I'd like to number each person on the list according to the order they appear on the list (which could change as the the items were sorted via name or age in the display).   Hello, I would like to perform a certain action when UITextField becomes empty (user deletes everything one sign after another or uses the clear option). I thought about using two methods - (BOOL)textField:(UITextField *)textField shouldChangeCharactersInRange:(NSRange)range replacementString:(NSString *)string; and - (BOOL)textFieldShouldClear:(UITextField *)textField; from UITextFieldDelegate I'm not sure how to detect the situation when the text field becomes empty? I tried with: if ([textField.text length] == 0) but it does't work as the fisrt of the above methods is called before the sign is deleted from the text field. Any ideas?

• Google Translation API not working for even one page long documents

  I'm using Google Translation API to translate text from Chinese Simplified to English in my C# program. The problem is if the text is small (around one line) the API is able to translate it, but if the text is larger (more than 3 lines) is gives an exception saying "The remote server returned an unexpected response: (414) Request-URI Too Large.".   Are there any extensions for Chrome that allow me to export all currently opened tabs as a text file, containing all the URLs of those tabs?   I'm trying to create an vocabulary study application using Obj-C and the Cocoa frameworks. I have about two week's experience in both areas and have reached an edge of my current knowledge. Here's where I'm stuck. When I press a checkbox, a corresponding plist is loaded into memory as an NSDictionary. I want to generate a "Label: Textfield" pair for each key:value pair, where the Label is the key. When the text typed into the Textfield matches the key's value, I want the Label's text to turn green. So how would I generate this grid, and once generated, how would I make the text green upon correct input? Thanks!
