• Cisco redundancy modes

  I am using a Cisco 6500 series with an SSO redundancy configuration. The show redundancy output is as follows: Hardware Mode = Duplex Configured Redundancy Mode = sso Operating Redundancy Mode = rpr Maintenance Mode = Disabled Communications = Up I would assume the device is operating in RPR mode although SSO is configured. What could cause this? Shouldn't the operating mode be SSO? • Go - Using a map for its set properties with user defined types

  I'm trying to use the built-in map type as a set for a type of my own (Point, in this case). The problem is, when I assign a Point to the map, and then later create a new, but equal point and use it as a key, the map behaves as though that key is not in the map. • Will the other directories on my C drive still be visible?

  My Windows 7 ate itself, corrupted a few files, now refuses to boot. On the same drive were other directories of various assorted non-Microsoft applications I like to use. After the crash, I have been mounting those from outside (as F:[whatever]). If I go ahead and reinstall Windows 7 on that drive and use the drive again as my primary, will those other directories be visible to it from inside? Meaning if I boot up my new installation of Windows from within that drive, will I be able to see those other old directories via Windows Explorer on the C drive (where any haven't been run over by the reinstalled OS)? • Intel RAID0 on Windows 8 not Displaying Correct Media Type

  I have my primary C Drive which consists of 2 Intel 120GB SSD Drives in a RAID0. I have a clean install of Windows 8 Pro, latest MEI software, latest RST software, latest Intel Toolbox. Prior to this I had installed Windows 8 Pro as an upgrade. When I went into the Optimize Drives while in the Upgrade installation, it showed the Media Types as Solid State Drives. However, now since I am in a brand new install, it is showing the Media Type as Hard Disk Drive. I am worried about this because of the trim not working properly. Before when in the upgrade, it showed SSD as the media type and the Optimize option would perform a manual trim. Unfortunately, my search credentials on Google are so common to many other things (ie Raid0, SSD, Windows 8, Media Type) that all I am finding are useless topics. • How do people handle foreign keys on clients when synchronizing to master db

  Hi, I'm writing an application with offline support. i.e. browser/mobile clients sync commands to the master db every so often. I'm using uuid's on both client and server-side. When synching up to the server, the servre will return a map of local uuids (luid) to server uuids (suid). Upon receiving this map, clients updated their records suid attributes with the appropriate values. However, say a client record, e.g. a todo, has an attribute 'list_id' which holds the foreign key to the todos' list record. I use luids in foreign_keys on clients. However, when that attribute is sent over to the server, it would dirty the server db with luids rather than the suid the server is using. My current solution, is for the master server to keep a record of the mappings of luids to suids (per client id) and for each foreign key in a command, look up the suid for that particular client and use the suid instead. I'm wondering wether others have come across thus problem and if so how they have solved it? Is there a more efficient, simpler way? I took a look at this question "Synchronizing one or more databases with a master database - Foreign keys (5)" and someone seemed to suggest my current solution as one option, composite keys using suids and autoincrementing sequences and another option using -ve ids for client ids and then updating all negative ids with the suids. Both of these other options seem like a lot more work. Thanks, Saimon

• Printing on Windows 8 64-Bit through Windows Server 2008 (32 Bit) RemoteApp

  We have a network where our server is running on Windows Server 2008 (32 Bit) and a client computer is running on Windows 8.1 (64 bit) with a local printer attached to the client. The printer is an HP P1006. The remote app works well but when trying to print we get an odd "error 545". We have tried both using the "connect client printer" function in remoteapp and also making the printer shared over the network and printing to it via the network from within the remoteapp. Nothing works. We can print a test page from the server to the client computer just fine, but it seems from remoteapp we cannot. We have also tried installing the 32 bit drivers on the 64 bit machine as both the primary and secondary drivers but cannot get them to install. Suggestions please? We've been going crazy over this issue.

  Hi All, I have an interface and two objects implementing that interface, massively simplied; public interface MyInterface { public int getId(); public int getName(); ... } public class A implements MyInterface { ... } public class B implements MyInterface { ... } We are migrating from using one implementation to the other but I need to check that the objects of type B that are generated are equivalent to those of type A. Specifically I mean that for all of the interface methods an object of Type A and Type B will return the same value (I'm just checking my code for generating this objects is correct). How would you go about this? Map<String, MyInterface> oldGeneratedObjects = getOldGeneratedObjects(); Map<String, MyInterface> newGeneratedObjects = getNewGeneratedObjects(); // TODO: Establish that for each Key the Values in the two maps return equivalent values. I'm looking for good coding practices and style here. I appreciate that I could just iterate through one key set pulling out both objects which should be equivalent and then just call all the methods and compare, I'm just thinking there may be a cleaner, more extensible way and I'm interested to learn what options there might be. • RAID1: Migrate HDD to SSD?

  My current workstation uses an Adaptec 5805, with Win2008 mirrored between two 72 GB (10K?) savvio drives. My question is if there's a way to migrate the mirror to use SSDs - I've been looking at 90GB Corsair Force (Sandy Bridge) to replace the existing setup. If it's possible, without installing the OS fresh. If I replaced the mirrored drive with an SSD, would the array sync the drives? Then I could promote the SSD mirror to be the primary, and use the second SSD as the mirror. That'd be too easy... Or should use Ghost to get an image of the existing setup, apply it to the SSD for a new mirror to be setup on?

• Entity Framework 5 Enum Naming

  I am using EF 5 with migrations and code first. It all works rather nicely, but there are some issues/questions I would like to resolve. Let's start with a simple example. Lets say I have a User table and a user type table. The user type table is an enum/lookup table in my app. So the user table has a UserTypeId column and a foreign key ref etc to UserType. In my poco, I have a property called UserType which has the enum type. To add the initial values to the UserType table (or add/change values later) and to create the table in the initial migrator etc. I need a UserType table poco to represent the actual table in the database and to use in the map files. I mapped the UserType property in the User poco to UserTypeId in the UserType poco. So now I have a poco for code first/migrations/context mapping etc and I have an enum. Can't have the same name for both, so do I have a poco called UserType and something else for the enum or have the poco for UserType be UserTypeTable or something? More importantly however, am I missing some key element in how code first works? I tried the example above, ran Add-Migration and it does not add the lookup table for the enum.

• Sound card doesn't work and yet does.

  I have a really weird one tonight. Today we had a LAN party and all of a sudden the sound on a couple PC's stopped working for programs like the games, windows media player, etc. However, when errors would popup (like trying to change the volume settings) you would here the default error chime. Restarting the computers you would here the logoff-login sounds and after a restart the sound would work for a bit in both games and apps and then suddenly stop. Restarting also didn't always fix the problem. I can't figure this out. If the sound card/driver didn't work then how could we hear sounds from the windows sound scheme? No sound with VLC, windows media player, youtube, games, nothing. The only thing I can figure out is that this is a bad game crashing the primary driver or some kind of weird virus these PC's might have picked up.

• Is it possible to have Grub2's boot.img in the MBR and have it load core.img from a separate boot pa

  I have a multiboot system that I would like to use Grub to manage. The version of Grub shipping with my Linux distro is Grub2, and it installs its equivalent of stage 1.5-2, core.img, into the remaining sectors on the first track after the MBR but before the first partition. Unfortunately, those sectors are needed by another program. I have a separate primary /boot partition. If I could only keep boot.img as my MBR but have it look in the /boot partition for core.img rather than the embedded one in the sectors immediately following the MBR, everything would work fine. Is this possible with grub2?

• How do I enable SVN menu in an editor window in Eclipse?

  The SVN menu is disabled whenever I'm in an edit window; it's enabled when I'm in the Navigator or similar file browsing windows. I'd like to have the SVN menu enabled while the editor window is open in order so that I can set up a key binding and commit while editing the document rather than having to switch over to the navigation view to commit a file. This is Eclipse 3.5 using Eclipse's Subversion Connectors plugin. This may be related: I had to do a reinstall of eclipse and a fair number of the keybindings no longer work the way the once did. In addition, many keystrokes now only work in windows only instead of windows and dialogs (specifically select all, copy, and paste). If these problems are related and there's an easy way to repair or refresh my keybindings without having to start over completely that would be great. Clarification I know how to set up key mappings. That's not a problem. I have them set up. The problem is that the SVN menu is disabled in the editor pane. I can access the SVN menu from the Navigator or similar panes, and I've set up the keymappings exactly the way I want them. They just aren't working in all contexts.

• How to specify MQ channel table location for .net web application using web.config

  I've been going around in circles for a while on this one now. I'm trying to connect to a distributed queue manager using a supplied channel table file. I can get this to work if I specify the environmental variable MQCHLLIB and MQCHLTAB on my server. However the IBM documentation states that the .net config file can override these variables. Here is what I have placed in my web.config file: ... <configSections> <section name="CHANNELS" type="System.Configuration.NameValueSectionHandler" /> </configSections> <CHANNELS> <add key="ChannelDefinitionDirectory" value="C:\temp"></add> <add key="ChannelDefinitionFile" value="DSM_MOM_TEST.tab"></add> </CHANNELS> ... Is there something that I've missed in the code? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

• What type of amazon instance should I use and do I need auto scaling and load balancing?

  Hi I am looking to release a website that will initially have large amounts of uploads from users. The first will be 65GB and the rest will probably be close to 1TB. They could happen simultaneously. My question is what type of amazon server instance would be best for this? The website is just being released so the traffic wont be very high. I have been using a micro instance for development but it is time to launch and I need more power. Should I use auto scaling and a load balancer to increase the number of instances when I need it or Will a small or medium instance do the trick? If I do use auto scaling and load balancing how do I handle things like sessions and the database/file lookups? Does one instance become the primary instance and the rest become clones?

• Environment variable for volume names in Windows?

  I'm trying to write a batch file that will look at the volume label of the current drive and report if it's not equivalent to a certain string. Is there a default variable in the shell for this? Can I define one? Am I SOL and I'll actually have to do some (shudder) programming? EDIT: If this is possible in PowerShell that would work fine. (For the curious, we ship our machines with software cloning as a rapid bootable backup solution since most of our customers are daytraders and aren't interested in RAID due to urgency of getting-the-hell-back-to-work-right-away if there's a software corruption problem, and we want to make it immediately obvious if they're booting to the backup drive unintentionally, like say the primary failed entirely. The hope was just to write a simple batch file that would autostart on boot and throw a warning in the event of a problem.)

  I'm trying to upload a picture to a specific website using php cURL but I don't really understand what parameters do I need to send because the data looks a bit weird .   Does anyone have tried to implement an app in GAE having both java and python? I have an existing app and my front end is in java. Now I want to use the existing datastore to be interfaced by python. My problem is i don't know how to define the relationships and model that would be equivalent to the one in java. I have tried the one-to-many relationship in python but when stored in the datastore, the fields are different than the one-to-many of java. • PHP Ampersand in String

  Hello. I'm having a bit of a problem. I am trying to create an IRC bot, which has an ampersand in its password. However, I'm having trouble putting the ampersand in a string. For example... <?php $var = "g&abc123"; echo $var; ?> I believe this should print g&abc123. However it's printing g. I have tried this as well: <?php $arr = array("key" => "g&abc123"); print_r($arr); ?> This prints it correctly with the g&abc123, however when I say echo $arr['key']; it prints g again. Any help would be appreciated. I'm running PHP5.3.1. EDIT: Also, I just noticed that if I use g&abc123&abc123 it prints g&abc123. Any suggestions?

I want to connect through this IP back to my PC. I want to keep my primary internet connection (eth0) on my PC for all traffic, but route traffic to VPN for specified application/or port, to access application/port from the IP, which I given from the pptp provider.
