• PHP split string into integer element and string

  Hello, I have a string say: Order_num = "0982asdlkj" How can I split that into the 2 variables, with the number element and then another variable with the letter element in php? The number element can be any length from 1 to 4 say and the letter element fills the rest to make every order_num 10 characters long in total. I have found the php explode function...but don't know how to make it in my case because the number of numbers is between 1 and 4 and the letters are random after that, so no way to split at a particular letter. Please help as specifically as possible!

• Emacs: print key binding for a command or list all key bindings

  In Emacs (GNU 23.2, *nix), how can I: list the key sequences bound to a particular command? For example, how can we list all the key sequences that execute save-buffers-kill-emacs, with the output of key sequences bound to it? Assuming we can do this, listing the key sequences bound to goto-line should print the output: M-g g on a default install. list all key-bindings? Does C-h b do this? Would it print my own bindings? I am aware that executing the command directly can print a key sequence it can be activated with, but it doesn't always do so, and a few things happen, including: (1) the output doesn't remain for long, (2) the command is executed. I want a command that lists for me (preferably all) the bindings attached to a given command, without executing the command, or something like that.

  Suppose, a blog or a nice article was hosted on a website and it got deleted or worse the website was brought down. How do you view that web page? I tried searching for the cached version in Google. But, looks like the content was deleted long ago and is not listed in the search results directly. There are annotations to the link from many other sites, but still the actual content is not fully available. Now, can anybody help me see this page... I am actually looking for http://effectize.com/become-coolest-programmer :) And, moreover, in addition to bookmarking a favorite link, is it possible to cache the content of the link as well for later reference in case it gets deleted? Now based on a user`s longitude(ex:44.8) and latitude(ex:46.3) I want to search for all the cities near him within 100 miles/KM.   Imagine a situation where tasks are being added to scheduledthreadpoolexecutor. Each of these tasks will keep on running at different periodic intervals. Although all such tasks will not be running at the same time because each is set at different intervals, there may be a situation where a high number of threads are competing for execution. Is there any restriction on total number of threads ? It seems there is a restriction on the total number of idle threads. And does this concept of idle thread imply that long running tasks (thread) may be destroyed and recreated when needed ?

• Changing window focus on OS X

  As part of an InstallationCheck script on OS X I need to use finder dialogs to let the user browse for files. When I'm done I want to move the installer application up front again so that the user can easily continue with the installation. I have already tried the simple: tell application "Installer" to activate This does not work because as long as I am inside the script the Installer application is unresponsive and when i try to activate it the applescript will try to wait until Installer responds, effectively locking the program until the InstallationCheck script times out. So basically I need a way to focus an application that works even if it is currently unresponsive. Is there any way to do this either from an applescript or directly from the perl script?

  Hi all, In my project after long process, i got a 2 dimensional byte array from the IR camera. The byte array holds image in it... How to convert that byte array to image in C#.. I know that by MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(byteArray); System.drawing.Image im = Image.FromStream(ms); We can pass 1 dimensional array and convert it into image.. If i pass 2 dimensional array as a single dimensional array.. it shows error.. How to rectify it..???? or else how to convert 2 dimensional byte array to image...??? Thank you!!

• ColdFusion Timeout Error

  I have a scheduled task that runs once a day that builds an XML file that I pass off to another group. Recently the amount of data has greatly increased and is now causing the task to time out (I think). I have tried to optimize my script as much as possible but with no luck. It times out long before an hour and I don't get any kind of ColdFusion error. Instead I get a "This page cannot be found" after it runs. Could this be a timeout someplace other than Coldfusion? • Multitrack sound recording - Downloadable control?

  Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows of any free Open Source software wich demonstrates multitrack recording support? • CLR - Common language runtime detected an invalid program in VS.NET

  I have been using Visual Studio 2008 quite long but lately I am getting this message when I am developing an application in C#: Common language runtime detected an invalid program This happens when I try to enter to the properties of a component (text masked box properties, tool box property etc..). But it really became a problem when I tried to launch an other solution that I downloaded from the Developer's 5 star program of Microsoft and it didn't allowed me to launch at all and just got the same problem... I looked for the answer at google but just got some clues about people having the same vague error but in different situations like in ASP.NET I would appreciate any help with this issue... :( I do not want to reinstall VS, that will be my last resource... Update: I never figured out what the problem was so I installed a virtual machine with Windows XP on it, there I only have Visual Studio and Netbeans.

• Is 'bool' a basic datatype in C++ ?

  I got this doubt while writing some code. Is 'bool' a basic datatype defined in the C++ standard or is it some sort of extension provided by the compiler ? I got this doubt because Win32 has 'BOOL' which is nothing but a typedef of long. Also what happens if I do something like this: int i = true; Is it "always" guaranteed that variable i will have value 1 or is it again depends on the compiler I am using ? Further for some Win32 APIs which accept BOOL as the parameter what happens if I pass bool variable?

• PHP exec() hangs, Error 500

  So, my plan is to make small thumbnails of URL's with PHP and IECapt. IECapt works well, a nice command line tool, gets the full sized image of specified URL in 1 to 4 seconds. But my problem is to execute it trough PHP. This is the code I've trying to get working: exec('IECapt.exe ' . escapeshellarg($URL) . ' ' . escapeshellarg($Filename)) $URL is of course the URL, and $filename is a simplified version of the URL. Sometimes I get the IECapt to snap the image(trough PHP), but it takes awfully long (30-60s), and in the end I always get a 500-error, with no error messages to tell me what's wrong. Both variables are fine, they work manually with commandline: IECapt http://google.com Google.png My server set-up is IIS7 and PHP5.2.9, if relevant. (Windows Vista, all on my personal computer, so full access.) Any ideas?

• Automatically Add a Prefix to Column Names for @Embeddable Classes

  I am developing a project in which I am persisting some POJOs by adding Hibernate annotations. One problem I am running into is that code like this fails, as Hibernate tries to map the sub-fields within the Time_T onto the same column (i.e. startTime.sec and stopTime.sec both try to map to the colum sec, causing an error). @Entity public class ExampleClass { @Id long eventId; Time_T startTime; Time_T stopTime; } @Embeddable public class Time_T { int sec; int nsec; } As there will be many occurrences like this throughout the system, it would be nice if there was an option to automatically append a prefix to the column name (e.g. make the columns be startTime_sec, startTime_nsec, stopTime_sec, stopTime_nsec), without having to apply overrides on a per-field basis. • Find all those columns which have only null values, in a MySQL table

  The situation is as follows: I have a substantial number of tables, with each a substantial number of columns. I need to deal with this old and to-be-deprecated database for a new system, and I'm looking for a way to eliminate all columns that have - apparently - never been in use. I wanna do this by filtering out all columns that have a value on any given row, leaving me with a set of columns where the value is NULL in all rows. Of course I could manually sort every column descending, but that'd take too long as I'm dealing with loads of tables and columns. I estimate it to be 400 tables with up to 50 (!) columns per table. Is there any way I can get this information from the information_schema? EDIT: Here's an example: column_a column_b column_c column_d NULL NULL NULL 1 NULL 1 NULL 1 NULL 1 NULL NULL NULL NULL NULL NULL The output should be 'column_a' and 'column_c', for being the only columns without any filled in values.

But I realized that most of employers prefer not candidates who is able to deliver good software but those who is trained to answer questions like "what are ten differences between pointers and references in C++" or "what this messy code fragment will print". Last time I have read a book on C++ 15 years ago in secondary school and yes, that was Bjarne Stroustrup. But today I need something quick, without long philosophical explanations about polymorphism etc but with focus to silly interview tests. • Post data with jQuery to ASP.net, am I doing this secure enough?

  For a website I am building, I am using jQuery to post data to Generic Handlers I created for this purpose. Because you need to be logged in, to do most post actions (like 'rate a picture'), I am currently using the following technique: User visits page Page determines if user is logged in On Page_Load the page fills a hidden field with an encrypted string, which contains several needed variables, like User ID, Picture ID (of the picture they are currently viewing), the DateTime when the page was rendered. When the user clicks a "I like this picture"-button, I do a $.ajax post to my Generic Handler, with the encrypted string and the value whether or not they liked the picture. The Generic Handler decrypts the supplied encrypted string and takes a look at the DateTime to determine if it was not too long ago When everything works out, the vote is submitted to the database. In my understanding this is a pretty secure way to handle a situation like this. But maybe I am missing a very important point here. Any advice would be very welcome.

  It's been a long time since I've done C++ and I'm running into some trouble with classes referencing each other. Right now I have something like: a.h class a { public: a(); bool skeletonfunc(b temp); }; b.h class b { public: b(); bool skeletonfunc(a temp); }; Since each one needs a reference to the other, I've found I can't do a #include of each other at the top or I end up in a weird loop of sorts with the includes. So how can I make it so that a can use b and vice versa without making a cyclical #include problem? thanks!

After form 12 I would like wipe out all the property values in the storing class so that the next user won't accidentally record values when starting the process at form 1. • Looking for a specific kind of WEB framework, no malarkey please

  We do maintenence on a number of systems. I'm finally in a place where I'm teh fucking boss for once, and have to design a large system that will have a long maintenance contract. There's a couple of tasks I find myself always repeating: 1) similar tasks for users with JS and those without 2) similar things for contents and rss/atom feeds, etc. To combat these I will need appropriate handling of assets (think JS files, CSS, themes/templates, etc.), excellent auth/user systems, javascript/ajax forethought, appropriate model setups. Codeigniter fails on many of these. Basically, with enough time I could build this system with Zend, but I'm curious what else is out there as Zend is also kind of a heavy-weight. We need something that is Rapid but maintainable, CodeIgniter is not maintainable. We will have a lot of AJAX APIs in place for the design team to play with. At first I thought jQuery was cool, but now I'm looking at Dojo.

• How do you keep Cocoa controllers from getting too big?

  Hello! Do you have some tricks or techniques to break Cocoa controller classes into smaller chunks? I find that whatever I do the controllers end up being one of the more complicated classes in my design. The basic stuff is simple, but once I have several pop-overs or action sheets running, things get uncomfortably complex. It's not that bad, but still I would like to refactor the code into several standalone chunks. I thought about categories, but the code is not that independent (a lot of times it needs to tap into viewWillAppear, for example) and I find that I spend a long time fighting the compiler. I also thought about adding functionality in layers using inheritance, but that feels like a hack.

• Can you use POST to run a query in Solr (/select)

  I have queries that I am running against out solr index that sometimes have very long query parameters, I get errors when i run these queries, which i assume are do to the limit of a GET query parameters. Here is the method I use to query (JSON), this is to show I am using the Http Extensions (the client i use is a thin wrapper for HttpClient) not an end to end solution. 90% of the queries run fine, it is just when the params are large i get the 500 error from solr. I have read somewhere you can use POSt's when doing the select command but have not found examples of how to do it. • IDisposable, does it really matter

  Coming from C/C++ a long time ago I still have a habit of ensuring that all resources are cleaned up correctly. I always ensure Dispose is called on IDisposable classes and implement Dispose patterns in my classes containing disposable objects. However, in my environment I'm more or less the only one doing this. Others just don't understand what I'm doing and think my code is more difficult to understand. They just create database connections, open streams etc without calling Close or Dispose. Sometimes they set a local or member variable to "Nothing" at the end of a method (guess their background). My problem is that their code works just as well as mine. Code that over time creates thousands of database connection objects just works. So, ignoring any arguments about code correctness, following guidelines etc, does IDiposable really matter? Has anyone actually ran out of resources from not Disposing objects?
