• Set focus and carret position in textarea according to mouse position, as if user had clicked

  Once a page with a textarea is loaded, I want some textarea to have the focus immediatly if the mouse cursor is inside that textarea. This is the easy part because a onmousehover handler can set the focus. Now, how to I also set the position of the caret? I would like the caret to be where it would be if the user had clicked using the mouse to set the focus/caret. The basic use case is : User clicks on a link and waits (mouse barely moves) A page is delivered, it contains a big textarea only, full of text User types using keyboard Characters are inserted right below the mouse cursor Today the user has to wait until the caret is visible (at the top left of the textarea) and then click to move the caret before typing. • Getting weird python error when I run a simple django script in Eclipse, not happening in console

  I am running a basic script that sets up the django environment by itself, to enable me to test the ORM features of django without having to implement web pages. The script then imports one of the types defined in my models. This error doesn't happen when I run this script from iPython, only from eclipse. • bad request error 400 while using python requests.post function

  I'm trying to make a simple post request via the requests library of Python and I get a bad request error (400) while my url is supposedly correct since I can use it to perform a get. I'm very new in REST requests, I read many tutorials and documentation but I guess there are still things I don't get so my error could be basic. Maybe a lack of understanding on the type of url I'm supposed to send via POST. • HttpWebRequest socket operation during WPF binding in a property getter

  In a property getter of a C# class I am doing a HTTP GET using HttpWebRequest to some https address. WPF's property binding seems to choke on this. If I try to access the property in a simple method e.g. Button_Clicked, it works perfectly. If I use WPF binding to access the same property, the app seems to be blocked on a socket's recv() method indefinitely. Is it a no-no to do this sort of thing during binding? Is app in some special state during binding? Is there an easy way for me to overcome this limitation and still maintain the same basic idea?

When I try to populate the ListView with a LINQ-to-Entities queried collection of ADO.NET Entity Framework objects I get the following exception: Exception Items collection must be empty before using ItemsSource.   I have an admin controller located in controllers/admin/admin_controller.rb I also have a pages controller located in controllers/admin/pages_controller.rb pages_controller.rb inherits from admin_controller.rb in routes.rb, I have an admin namespace as such: map.namespace :admin do |admin| admin.resources :pages end I want the admin have basic CRUD functionality in pages_controller.rb (I know how to do that) I want the index and show methods to be available to front-end users I would like the show and index actions to use separate views, but the same code. Questions: Should I create a new pages_controller for the front-end, or share the methods index and show? If share, how would I display separate views depending on whether the url is /admin/pages or /pages If share, should I place pages_controller in /controllers/admin (where it is now) or just in /controllers? • CoffeeScript Class Properties Within Nested Anonymous Functions

  I'm just taking a look at CoffeeScript for the first time so bare with me if this is a dumb question. I'm familiar with the hidden pattern methodology however I'm still wrapping my head around object prototypes. I'm trying to create a basic class for controlling a section on my site. The problem I'm running into is losing defined class variables within a different scope. For example, the code below works fine and creates the properties within the object perfectly. However when I jump into a jQuery callback I lose all knowledge of the class variables storing some of the jQuery objects for multiple uses. • Issue Passing NSMutableDictionary to Method

  Hello all, I'm trying some basic iPhone programming -- all has been going well but recently I've hit a bit of a roadblock. I've got a chunk of code that's passing an NSMutableDictionary (amongst other things) to a method in another class: [self.shuttle makeAPICallAndReturnResultsUsingMode:@"login" module:@"login" query:credentials]; The NSMutableArray credentials is previously defined a bit above as such: NSMutableDictionary *credentials = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [credentials setObject:username forKey:@"username"]; [credentials setObject:password forKey:@"password"]; The method that receives it looks like such: -(id)makeAPICallAndReturnResultsUsingMode:(NSString *)mode module:(NSString *)module query:(NSMutableDictionary *)query From debugging I have determined that the code works fine up until this point within the above method: [query setObject:self.sessionID forKey:@"session_id"]; At this point, the application terminates -- the Console informs me of this exception: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '* -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: method sent to an uninitialized mutable dictionary object' This leads me to believe that I must initialize NSMutableDictionary in some way in my new method before I can access it, but I have no idea how. Any advice?

A serial number may be granted per-machine (or per-operating-system) or per-user (as for CAL in Windows Server: if my application is used by several users on one machine or if it is used by one user on several machines).   I've been testing Hudson for a few days now and for PHP projects it seems ok; What I need though is a system that will allow me to publish an SVN tag to an FTP folder without adding a pile of rubbish on the end; hudson gets overexcited and adds a pile of folders to the export. Are their any other decent systems; it needs to be simple to use as this will eventually fall under the control of 'admins' in order to meet sox compliance (aka the man with the gun cant pull the trigger). Basic Requirements: Must be free and downloadable to a server (FTP's internal only here) Needs to be able to interact with SVN Needs to be able to publish to FTP Needs matrix login permissions (or AD if its something that can go on IIS) Needs to be auditable (logging) Tell me if im not being clear enough here; thanks. • Initialize content of a jQuery remote tab on initial page load

  I'm using the jQuery tabs library to create a set of remote (i.e., ajax loaded) tabs. However, to avoid the initial page load being empty until the ajax request finishes, I'd like to include the content for the initial tab with the initial page download. I've got this generally working by providing a div in the initial page load that matches the title of the tab, but even though this content appears immediately, as soon as I initialize the tabs it does the ajax request IN ADDITION which is both wasteful and causes a flicker. My basic question is how can I get jQuery tabs to NOT do an ajax request for the initially selected tab, and get this content as part of the initial page load, while still loading the other tabs dynamically. The complication is that I can't hard code the ids/hrefs for which tab is the "initial" one since the initial tab will change based on available content. I'm sure there is some kind of hacky way to do this with javascript rewriting the URLs of tabs dynamically before I initialize the tabs but I'm looking for a cleaner solution. Any ideas?

But my idea, more than writing an entire application with web interface and so on, is to write a very tiny core that provides the basic functionality in the most efficient way, like a library that other people can use to write a complete application more fitted to their needs. The objective is to make it small, very efficient and fast. Can someone help me with a list of the minimal functionality needed for this kind of application?. • OpenCL: does it play well with OpenMP, can I connect other languages to it, etc.

  The 1.0 spec for OpenCL just came out a few days ago (Spec is here) and I've just started to read through it. I want to know if it plays well with other high performance multiprocessing APIs like OpenMP (spec) and I want to know what I should learn. So, here are my basic questions: If I am already using OpenMP, will that break OpenCL or vice-versa? Is OpenCL more powerful than OpenMP? Or are they intended to be complementary? Is there a standard way of connecting an OpenCL program to a standard C99 program (or any other language)? What is it? Does anyone know if anyone is writing an OpenCL book? I'm reading the spec, but I've found books to be more helpful.

  There is a special way of mapping a cube to a sphere described here: http://mathproofs.blogspot.com/2005/07/mapping-cube-to-sphere.html It is not your basic "normalize the point and your done" approach and gives a much more evenly spaced mapping. I've tried to do the inverse of the mapping going from sphere coords to cube coords and have been unable to come up the working equations. It's a rather complex system of equations with lots of square roots. Any math geniuses want to take a crack at it? Here's the equations in c++ code: sx = x * sqrtf(1.0f - y * y * 0.5f - z * z * 0.5f + y * y * z * z / 3.0f); sy = y * sqrtf(1.0f - z * z * 0.5f - x * x * 0.5f + z * z * x * x / 3.0f); sz = z * sqrtf(1.0f - x * x * 0.5f - y * y * 0.5f + x * x * y * y / 3.0f); sx,sy,sz are the sphere coords and x,y,z are the cube coords.

  Situation: I am writing a program in C that maintains a number of threads. Once a thread ends, a new one is created. Each thread forks - the child runs a PHP process via exec() and the parent waits for it to finish. Each PHP process takes the next item from a queue, processes it and exits. Basic code: http://www.4pmp.com/2010/03/multitasking-php-in-parallel/ Problem: The PHP processes are Symfony tasks and Symfony requires a fairly huge amount of memory. How can I safely calculate the required stack space for each thread so that PHP processes will have enough memory? The memory limit set in php.ini is 128Mb so should I allocate this much space in the stack?

It might sound obvious to all (or most) but within the html wouldn't the form tag have an action to just one of the online merchants and not all? For example? I would like to have a basic order form which collects a users name, email, uploaded files, project details, and a few packages to choose from. • ASP.NET MVC 2 RC 2 returns Area-specific controller when no area specified

  I have a basic MVC 2 (RC2) site with one base-level controller ("Home"), and one area ("Admin") with one controller ("Abstract"). When i call http://website/Abstract - the Abstract controller in the Admin area gets called even though i haven't specified the Area in the URL. To make matters worse - it doesn't seem to know it's under Admin because it can't find the associated view and just returns: The view 'Index' or its master was not found. The following locations were searched: ~/Views/Abstract/Index.aspx ~/Views/Abstract/Index.ascx ~/Views/Shared/Index.aspx ~/Views/Shared/Index.ascx Am i doing something wrong? Is this a bug? A feature?
