  • Microsoft equivalent of Eclipse RCP

    I have heard positive things about Eclipse RCP (Rich Client Platform) - does Microsoft has similar plugin UI framework available? I found an article from the Eclipse.org marketing director where he states: "An organization that is 100% Microsoft probably won't/shouldn't consider Eclipse RCP." A colleague pointed out that this article was posted in 2005, so i was wondering if Microsoft has a competing product by now, and if not, why not?

  • Using MobileMe idisk as a git repository

    I am trying to use git and MobileMe as a version control system for a personal project I am working across several computers. So far i have done the following. Created and empty bare repository on my local computer $ mkdir myproject.git $ cd myproject.git $ git init --bare $ git update-server-info I then copied the myproject.git directory to the mobile me disk, and sync my computer with mobile me. I then switched to the directory where my project was on my local machine, set the remote origin and try to push the local repository to mobile me $ cd myproject $ git remote add origin https://<username>@idisk.me.com/<username>/myproject.git/ $ git push --all Im am then asked for my password twice. The first time is the mobile me password, any other password gets an error. After entering the second password, and believe me i've tried everything, terminal just hangs. So what am I doing wrong?     I have created a package in VS2010 RC using the MPF (Managed Package Framework) and I get the following error. Can somebody help me out with this ?? The "UseRANU" parameter is not supported by the "VsTemplatePaths" task. Verify the parameter exists on the task, and it is a settable public instance property. The "VsTemplatePaths" task could not be initialized with its input parameters.

Its a great device, but I don't like how Sprint and HTC got replaced all of the native apps that were added on after 2.0 such as Gallery. The Gallery app on the phone uses flickr and facebook connect. I want to sync my Picasa albums. How can i get put the true Google applications on this device?

    I saw a similar question about the reason Google Chrome wasn't written in C#. But with the upcoming version of Windows and Microsoft's flagship language, I am having a hard time understanding why Microsoft isn't pushing C# to its fullest potential to give it more exposure via their market share? In addition can be interpreted as "Is C# and the .Net framework suitable to run a modern OS like Windows 7" Btw this is not a flaming question, but curiosity. I use C# daily and really love it.

    I have 4 tables that need to scroll, they are set up as follows: Table1(static) Table2(Horizontal Scrolling) Table3(Vertical Scrolling) Table4(Horizontal and Vertical Scrolling) Table1 Table2 Table3 Table4 The tricky part of this is that Table 3 and 4 need to keep in sync as this is a listing of data broken out into two tables. Table 2 and 4 are in the same situation. Any ideas? No Javascript please as we have a script that works, but it is far too slow to work. Thanks.

  • Remove address fields from Mac address book using Applescript

    Hello, A Facebook Sync app filled the address fields of my Mac Address Book contacts with their cities. Having tons of people who have useless addresses makes it difficult to search by people on Google Maps app (ending up scrolling through many many people- I only want to see those who have proper addresses entered). I want to clear all the home address fields in my address book using applescript. I wrote something small but couldn't get it to work, probably needs some help from somebody who knows applescript :) tell application "Address Book" repeat with this_person in every person repeat with this_address in every address of this_person if label of this_address is "home" then remove this_address from addresses of this_person end if end repeat end repeat end tell I tried to deduct the logic of multiple addresses/phones from other scripts but could only find adding them, not removing them.     greetings all i am deploying an app using spring framework on the apache tomcat when running the application from the tomcat directly,there's no jsessionid appended to any url at all but after mapping the application to the domain,and trying to run it i got a jsessionid appended to each url in the application,i tried the spring security attribute disable-url-rewriting but it doesn't work,it removes the jsessionid from the url but the application doesn't work no more,the user cannot login. so i guess it's another problem,any ideas why this happens,how to solve it? thanks.

    I've implemented a django middleware for getting pages from the database (something similar to the flatpage subframework) Unfortunately it seems that it is not possible to test it with the django testing framework. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance Update: maybe a mistake in my test but I can't get an object that should be returned by a middleware. I'll inverstigate more.   • Staging database good practices

    Hi, I'm about to deploy to production a fairly complex site and for the first time need a staging environment where I can test things in a more realistic environment, especially with regard to some external services that cannot be run locally. My general plan is to develop & test first locally, push simple changes (small bug fixes, HTML/CSS, JS, etc) direct to production, and for larger changes, push first to staging subdomain for thorough testing and then to production. I don't think that I need to keep the staging and production databases in sync (occasional manual updating would do) but I'm wondering if there are any general good practices with regard to maintaing a staging environment in relation to a production environment, especially when it comes to databases. Any general thoughts/advice/experience would be appreciated.

  • Facebook connect JavaScript with PHP

    I'm using the JavaScript method to sync/login (with the popup) with Facebook Connect on my site, it seems to work. However, after I get logged in, I want to continue in backend, with the PHP library. I see the cookies are set by the JavaScript lib, but I don't know how to use them with the PHP api. I used $fb = new Facebook($api_key, $secret); $uid = $fb->get_loggedin_user(); but not user data is getting passed. How can I get the user data in PHP after I logged in in frontend? As far as I'm concerned, I would have gone PHP all the way, but I didn't manage to make the auth work, meaning that in never redirected me back to my site :). Thanks!

    Hi there, I've got a question about a Silverlight WCF Databinding pattern: There are many examples about how to bind data using {Binding} expressions in XAML, how to make async calls to a WCF service, set the DataContext property of a element in the UI, how to use ObservableCollections and INotifyPropertyChanged, INotifyCollectionChanged and so on. Background: I'm using the MVVM pattern, and have a Silverlight ItemsControl, whose ItemsSource is set to an ObservableCollection property on my ViewModel object. My view is of course the XAML which has the {Binding}. Say the model object is called 'Metric'. My ViewModel periodically makes calls to a WCF service that returns ObservableCollection. MetricInfo is the data transfer object (DTO). My question is two-fold: Is there any way to avoid copying each property of MetricInfo to the model class - Metric? When the WCF calls completes, is there any way to make sure I sync the items which are in both my local ObservableCollection and the result of the WCF call - without having to first clear out all the items in the local collection and then add all the ones from the WCF call result? thanks, Krishna
