  • Create xml file based on xPath from Excel with VBA

    I've found some items that seem to dance around what I'm looking to do. I'm not a full-fledged programmer, but have been creating my own macros in Excel. I'm trying to create one now that will help me create the structure of an XML file. I want to go down the list of XPaths, and for each one create any parents in the path as needed as well as the child and its value. I'll be adding another aspect to filter it to the fields I want, but the part I'm struggling with is the logic to check if each parent node exists, create it if needed, then add the child and its value. Bonus would be if the output file were formatted with each node on a new line, and more so if it child nodes were indented from parent, but just creating it is my primary concern. Any help would be much appreciated, this has to potential to save me a lot of time.

    I have a tab delimeted file that I want to convert into a mysql table. there are 25 tab delimeted fields in the text file. I can get the values in when I construct the SQL statement word by word and get each value individually stated in the VALUES part but when I try to get the list as a whole it does not work. Here is the code. I couldn't figure it out. Am I saving and retrieving the file correctly? If not, whats wrong with the code? NOTE: The issue appears only to occur in the Windows environment. When run on linux, it works fine... very confused.

  • Removing control / special characters from log file

    I have a log file captured by tclsh which captures all the backspace characters (ctrl-H, shows up as "^H") and color-setting sequences (eg. ^[[32m .... ^[[0m ). What is an efficient way to remove them? ^[...m This one is easy since, I can just do "sed -i /^[.*m//g" to remove them ^H Right now I have "sed -i s/.^H//", which "applies" a backspace, but I have to keep looping this until there are no more backspaces. while [ logfile == `grep -l ^H logfile` ]; do sed -i s/.^H// logfile ; done; "sed -i s/.^H//g" doesn't work because it would match consecutive backspaces. This process takes 11 mins for my log file with ~6k lines, which is too long. Any better ways to remove the backspace?

    On my machine, I have some software which takes commands in the terminal and returns a list of values. To run it, I have to type something like: pdv -t filename I am trying to run it as part of a python programme. When I run the following: os.system('pdv -t %s' % (epoch_name)) then I get the values that I desire returned to my terminal (where epoch_name is the variable name for the filename). But when I try to write the result to a file: os.system('pdv -t %s % "(epoch_name)" > 123.txt') the file 123.txt is produced but it is empty. I know that I am misplacing the " and/or ' characters, but I can't figure out where they should go. Any help would be gratefully received!

    as the title points out, I'm getting this error when trying to connect to a PostgreSql database from command line, using PostgreSQL. The client machine is an Ubuntu 11.10 x86_64 and the PostgreSQL libraries are from Version 9.1 Server is PostgreSql 8.3. This is the command that I executed: psql -U postgres -d my_database -h 192.168.0.161 -p 5432 -c "select * from xxyy" I get the same results when I use sudo or su postgres. The sad thing is that I can connect without problems using pgAdmin. Any hint?

  • Permission denied: /home/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file

    This domain was working this morning, now I get a 403 error and the message above in my error log. I'm not using .htaccess files but I have been doing some copy on the server so may have messed things up but no changes to this domain (unless by accident!). What is this pcfg_openfile thing anyway? Done lots of googleing but none of the solutions seemed to fit these circumstances. Server is ubuntu Hardy Heron.

  • Can't copy file with green filename, access denied

    Using Windows Explorer under XP I see some of my files have green filenames. When I try and copy one of these files I get an error reporting Access denied. The My pictures folder also appears with green text and I have a large number of photos from family holidays I don't want to loose. I need to backup these files as I'm changing laptop soon. We use SafeBoot to encryt our hard drives but I don't think this is the problem as it allows me to copy other files to removable media with no problems. Has anybody come across this before and how can I resolve this?

  • MySQL – How to Find mysqld.exe with Command Prompt – Fix: ‘mysql’ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file

    One of the most popular question I get after watching my MySQL courses on Pluralsight is that beginning users are not able to find where they have installed MySQL Server. The error they receive is as follows when they type mysqld command on their default command line. ‘mysql‘ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. This error comes up if user try to execute mysqld command on default command prompt. The user should execute this command where mysql.exe file exists.  If you are using Windows Explorer you can easily search on your drive mysqld.exe and find the location of the file and execute the above command there. However, if you want to find out with command prompt the location of mysqld.exe file you can follow the direction here. Step 1: Open a command prompt Open command prompt from Start >> Run >> cmd >> enter Step 2: Change directory You need to change the default directory to root directory, hence type cd\ command on the prompt to change the default directory to c:\ . Here we are assuming that you have installed MySQL on your c: drive. If you have installed it on any other drive change the drive to that letter. Step 3: Search Drive Type the command dir mysqld.exe /s /p on the command prompt. It will search your directories and will list the directory where mysqld.exe is located. Step 4: Change Directory Now once again change your command prompt file location to the folder where your mysqld.exe is located. In my case it is located here in folder C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\bin hence I will run following command: cd C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\bin . Step 5: Execute mysqld.exe Now you can once again mysqld.exe on your command prompt. You can use this method to search pretty much any file with the help of command prompt.   • Time Machine (OSX) doesn't back up files in Mount Point or Disk Image File

    I found this Q&A (http://superuser.com/questions/148849/backup-mounted-drive-of-an-image-in-time-machine) and this prompted me to ask the following question: I have two disk images which are scripted to be mounted on login. These two disk images are always mounted to the same location. These two disk images are encrypted TrueCrypt volumes. Time Machine (TM) will only back up the disk images the first time they are mounted, but not after that. As I modify documents within the volumes throughout the day, the modified timestamps are adjusted properly. However, TM does not back them up. TM never backs up the mount points which are two folders within my home directory. Any ideas as to why neither the mount point or the image files are backed up? Do the image files have to be closed (unmounted) after being modified for TM to back them up? Thanks, Chris

  • Sysprep and Capture task sequence failing using MDT 2010

    I have created a Windows Deployment Services server in Windows 2008 R2. When I originally set it up I was able to successfully use MDT 2010 to create my boot images as well as creating task sequences that would sysprep and capture, and deploy my custom .wim files. Everything was working perfectly. About a month later I boot up my Windows 7 x86 image and run Windows updates to keep my image up to date. I then go and run my sysprep and capture task sequence and I get the following errors: I searched online for the cause of this error message and it just seems to be a generic permission denied type of error message. I then decided to completely rebuild my VM image from scratch and try again. I am still getting the same error messages as before. The following is what I have tried troubleshooting this issue: Troubleshooting: I have ensured that that UAC and the firewall is turned completely off when trying to capture the image. I have tried recreating the task sequence and making sure that the deployment share is updated. I have ensured that the local Administrator account is enabled and has the same password as specified in the task sequence. I have tried joining the computer to the domain and running the task sequence and I get a different error: I have attempted to run the script from the command prompt with "Run as Administrator" and I still receive the same errors above. For testing purposes I have ensured that Everyone has read/write access to my deployment share. I have spent days on trying to resolve this to no avail. Any ideas?   • Minimizing SQL transaction log file size on developer box running simple recovery model

    We have alot of SQL servers on development environment where we never take backup of the databases (TFS for code is enough). The (SharePoint) databases are all set to simple recovery model, but the log files, especially for the SharePoint configuration database is growing quite large and filling up our data drive on the SQL server. Since these log files are never used for anything, i would like advice on how to best minimize the size of these log files -or even disable them if possible. I'm not completely sure why the log files grow so large even on simple logging (checked for long running transactions (DBCC OPENTRAN) but found none). I guess the reason for the log files not being truncated is, that we dont take any backups, and hence Checkpoints arent reached. The autogrowth for log files are set to autogrow by 10% restricted to 2 gb, so i guess that is why Checkpoint (70%) arent reached here either. What would be the be best strategy to keep log files small (best case 0) without sacrificing performance (eg VLF fragmentation)?
