• Strange padding/margin when using UIWebView

  Hello, I am creating an app that is having a UIWebView which contains an advert. The size of the view is the same as the advert (image) itself. Still, there is a white margin/padding of some kind above and to the left of the image, inside the UIWebView. • ASP.NET MVC 2 RC2 Model Binding with NVARCHAR NOT NULL column

  I have a database column defined as NVARCHAR(1000) NOT NULL DEFAULT(N'') - in other words, a non-nullable text column with a default value of blank. I have a model class generated by the Linq-to-SQL Classes designer, which correctly identifies the property as not nullable. I have a TextAreaFor in my view for that property. I'm using UpdateModel in my controller to fetch the value from the form and populate the model object. If I view the web page and leave the text area blank, UpdateModel insists on setting the property to NULL instead of empty string. (Even if I set the value to blank in code prior to calling UpdateModel, it still overwrites that with NULL). Which, of course, causes the subsequent database update to fail. I could check all such properties for NULL after calling UpdateModel, but that seems ridiculous - surely there must be a better way? Please don't tell me I need a custom model binder for such a simple scenario...!

  Hi Guys, I have a Django view called change_priority. I'm posting a request to this view with a commas separated list of values which is basically the order of the items in my model. The data looks like this: 1,4,11,31,2,4,7 I have a model called Items which has two values - id and priority. Upon getting this post request, how can I set the priority of the Item depending upon the list order. So my data in the db would look like. 1,1 4,2 11,3 31,4 2,5 4,6 7,7 Thanks guys.

• How to make the subview in a UIScrollView to refresh when we zoom it?

  I have subclassed UIView object inside a uiscrollview which displays a pdf page. I can zoom that page. But when I do so, the inside view is zoomed and is getting blurred. I understood that the inner view shud be refreshed and i called setNeedsDisplay. But no change have happened and its the same even now. • Value of text box disapears - binding viewmodel to a tab (content control)

  Based on the MVVM example by Josh Smith, I have implemented the multi tab option which binds to a different tab to a different view model using a simple datatemplate that binds a viewmodel to a view. <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type fixtureVM:SearchViewModel}"> <SearchVw:SearchView/> </DataTemplate> The issue that I'm having, is when I switch tabs and then switch back again, the value in the textbox disappears. When I bind the Text in the textbox to a value in the ViewModel it does not disappear. This is fine, and I can overcome this but I am having another issue for example with the position of the scroll bar in a grid disappearing once the tab has lost focus. Why is the value disappearing? I'm assuming it is a WPF sub system task that cleans up resources!? how can I avoid this? I also feel it might be slowing down my app.

  I have an edit view that is displaying some model properties as plain text and other model properties as input fields. My problem is that the model properties displayed as plain text are null when the model is returned to the view after a validation error. How do I retain the model values when I don't have input fields for all properties? What is best practice?   Hello, all! I have a WPF view that displays a Shipment entity. I have a textblock that contains an asterisk which will alert a user that the record is changed but unsaved. I originally hoped to bind the visibility of this (with converter) to the Shipment.EntityState property. If value = EntityState.Modified Then Return Visibility.Visible Else Return Visibility.Collapsed End If The property gets updated just fine, but the view is ignorant of the change. What I need to know is, how can I get the UI to receive notification of the property change. If this cannot be done, is there a good way of writing my own IsDirty property that handles editing retractions (i.e. if I change the value of a property, then change it back to it's original it does not get counted as an edit, and state remains Unchanged). Any help, as always, will be greatly appreciated. Cory

  Red Hat had a feature useful to me at the present time. There was an account, generally called "shutdown", and when you logged in with the account, the system shut down. In my specific case, I have Ubuntu Server running in a VM on my local system. The VM is running a web app, and when I'm done doing work, I want to shut down the VM. Unfortunately, I can't install VMware tools to get the "power button" based shutdown. Currently I login then sudo shutdown -h now, then type my password again, and things shutdown. Really, it's getting annoying all that waiting around and typing things. How do I replicate the "shutdown account" functionality in Ubuntu? A related question, were there any security gotchas that motivated people to stop using this kind of account?

• Drawing selected state on custom UITableViewCell

  So I have a customer UITableViewCell whose whole display in drawn in drawRect. When it draws it creates CGLayers so that it can reuse certain pieces when something is changed. I have changed my UITableViewCellSelectionStyle to None because I don't want the default selected view to cover my drawing. So I call setNeedsDisplay in setSelected:animated: for my cell. But by the time drawRect is called, setSelected:animated: has already been called again to deselect the cell. In my table view controller in didSelectRowAtIndexPath I call deselectRowAtIndexPath as Apple advises. Any ideas? Thanks.

• Simple way to return anonymous types (to make MVC using LINQ possible)

  I'd like to implement MVC while using LINQ (specifically, LINQ-to-entities). The way I would do this is have the Controller generate (or call something which generates) the result-set using LINQ, then return that to the View to display the data. The problem is, if I do: return (from o in myTable select o); All the columns are read from the database, even the ones (potentially dozens) I don't want. And - more importantly - I can't do something like this: return (from o in myTable select new { o.column }); because there is no way to make anonymous types type-safe! I know for sure there is no nice, clean way of doing this in 3.5 (this is not clean...), but what about 4.0? Is there anything planned, or even proposed? Without something like duck-typing-for-LINQ, or type-safe anonymous return values (it seems to me the compiler should certainly be capable of that), it appears to be nearly impossible to cleanly separate the Controller from the View.

At the same time because of the limitation of the images to be in power of two I noticed that the quality of the sprite of my game is a little decreased. I read that we can use mipmap in Android but I have not found a real tutotial. Are they compatible with Android 2.2+ ? Which program creates mipmaps? How do you actually use in code?

• Site Actions menu in SharePoint is WSS-like, whereas I have installed MOSS

  I had WSS installed on my VM and then uninstalled in order to install MOSS Enterprise I can see a lot of the MOSS stuff in the Central Administration pages but when I create a new web application and site collection, my Site Actions dropdown is showing the WSS version, i.e. Create, Edit Page and Site Settings as opposed to the MOSS menu which has View All Site Content, View Reports, Manage Content and Structure etc. I just tried deleting my web app and creating it all again but it's come back with the same thing again. Is somewhere remembering that I used to have WSS installed? (yes I know MOSS is built on top of WSS but you know what I mean!)

  I have a IBM-Lenovo Thinkpad T500. I was previously a exclusive windows user, but recently installed ubuntu and loving it because of speed and interface. The only thing is that I don't get some features that I came to enjoy in windows. I need help setting these up: Hard-drive protection - active protection software that pauses drive when there is movement My printer doesn't work (can't find the driver for this one): canon Ip2600 A way to change which graphics chip to use while in OS. I have both the integrated and non integrated (dual-graphics). (If not easy to setup, I know there's a way to do it before it boots, but don't know how). CPU performance level - in windows you can pick "high performance", "power saver", etc.. to save batteries. My integrated camera w/light - it works but need an app where I can record videos, take snapshots, etc. can't find one that works. Thanks!

I wanted to keep the views folder inside other folders, When I try to do so i am getting following errors The view 'Index' or its master was not found. The following locations were searched: ~/Views/Search/Index.aspx ~/Views/Search/Index.ascx ~/Views/Shared/Index.aspx ~/Views/Shared/Index.ascx Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. My Views folder will be in ~/XYZ/ABC/Views instead of ~/Views. Please solve my problem. Will I get any problems If I change the default Views folder location. Do I need to change anything in HTML Helper classes because I don't know anything in MVC as this is my starting project i dont want to risk..Please help me out...

DataAnnotations in sample code does not work when the database fields are set to not allow nulls. ERROR occurs with the code from the book and with the sample code downloaded from codeplex. Help! I'm really frustrated by this!! I can't believe something so simple just doesn't work???
